Solaris 8 - IPMP not working.

Using if_mpath -d fjgi0 and if_mapth -r fjgi0 ipmp works fine and switches on the standby network card.
But if I plug out cable from interface fjgi0 it is not working.
In /var/adm/messages is only "[ID 391805 kern.notice] fjgi0: network connection down".
Configuration of cards:
cat /etc/hostname.fjgi0
192.168.1.1 netmask + broadcast + group red deprecated -failover up
addif 192.168.1.3 netmask + broadcast + up
cat /etc/hostname.fjgi5
192.168.1.2 netmask + broadcast + group red deprecated -failover standby up
Can someone tell me what is wrog?
Machine is PW1500.

We've had something similar set up on PW450 servers, running Solarus 8 (they now have Solaris 9) so I know it works. The issue is how it was working. Our PW450s are part of a FlexFrame setup and I suspect there are FlexFrame-based scripts/commands that control this (via ifconfig commands) as we only have a single /etc/hostname.<interface> file. I did have a quick look to see if I could spot anything obvious but it seems to have eluded me.
We also have some T5220s (with Solaris 10) tha have IPMP up and running on them. The principle should be the same and those do have IPMP set up via hostname.<interface> files. I'll go see what I can find.
<edit>
Having looked, we have as our (sanitised) hostname.<interface> files:
# cat hostname.e1000g2
server-e1000g2 netmask + broadcast + group group_a deprecated -failover up \
addif server-floating netmask + broadcast + up
# cat hostname.e1000g4
server-e1000g4 netmask + broadcast + group group-a deprecated -failover upWhere the two interfaces e1000g2 and e1000g4 participate in an IPMP group called group_b.
The server and server-<name> are resolved from hosts file, with server-floating being the address that will fail-over.

  • Solaris forum not working due to java.lang.NullPointerExceptions

    The Solaris forums have stopped working, if one tries to access them a part of the page is loaded, but then it ends up with a
    java.lang.NullPointerException.
    To reproduce, access either the top category:
    https://forums.oracle.com/forums/category.jspa?categoryID=303
    or the Solaris 11 Express for SysAdmins forum:
    Solaris 11
    This started about 24 hours ago.
    Also, there seems to be some other errors in the forum; quite often when i post something it gets posted three times, and then there are the splash screens (which i noticed were handled in another thread), but thats not really as severe :)
    //Magnus

    Sometimes it prints a longer error than just a NPE, here is the full stack:

  • Conection from Solaris is not working with Proxy (RedHat Linux is)

    We have a physical box running Solaris 10 with two zones. One zone is running the Sun LDAP DS (Directory Server) and the second zone is running Sun LDAP DPS (Directory Proxy Server). Sun LDAP EE version is 6.3.1.
    From the RedHat Linux client box (which in fact is an IFL guest running on Z-series IBM Mainframe) its possible to authenticate user accounts via the DPS zone.
    From the Solaris client box, we can only authenticate the accounts when connecting directly to the DS zone.
    We see in messages:
    Jun  4 15:29:00 wgtzgh2 sshd[4076]: [ID 293258 auth.error] libsldap: Status: 32  Mesg: openConnection: simple bind failed - No such object

    Any ideas why we can't authenticate from our Solaris client using the Proxy (DPS) connection?
    Thank you

  • Solaris 8 not working with Windows ICS

    I have a Windows 98 SE machine running ICS (it is the host). From my Solaris 8 / Sparc machine (ICS client) I can ping internal and external address. I can traceroute to external servers with success. When trying to load a page in netscape (using both URL or IPaddress) it times out and cannot load the page. • Select() function is not working properly in solaris 10.

    Hi ,
    We are facing an issue with select() in Solaris 10. we had written a sample program to this issue.
    Program name :- sel.cpp
    int main()
    struct timeval sleeptime;
    sleeptime.tv_sec = 60;
    printf("1\n");
    select(0,NULL,NULL,NULL,&sleeptime);
    printf("2");
    return 0;
    When i run this program in Solaris 9, its printing 1 and after one minute its printing 2.
    When i run this program on Solaris 10, its printing 1 and 2 without waiting for 60 seconds.
    When i tried to print tv_usec, its printing as 0 in solaris 9 and some garbage values in solaris 10.
    I think because of that the above select function is not working properly in solaris 10.
    Why the tv_usec is not taking 0 as default values in Solaris 10?
    We are using our legacy code for past 20 years. So, before going to do any changes we are trying to find why this happenig like this.
    Thanks a lot.

    Srikanth.

    It sounds to me that you've been lucky for 20 years then.
    Local POD variables on the stack that aren't explicitly initialized can contain any value. Here's what I see in your app with dbx
    (dbx) run
    Running: sel
    stopped in main at line 9 in file "sel.cpp"
        9      sleeptime.tv_sec = 60;
    (dbx) print sleeptime
    sleeptime = {
        tv_sec  = -4198732
        tv_usec = 0
    }That's on a Solaris 10 SPARC machine. If I try it on a Solaris 10 x86 box then I get
    (dbx) print sleeptime
    sleeptime = {
    tv_sec = -830490588
    tv_usec = 134510556
    and I see the behaviour that you describe.

  • Ldap authentication not working for Solaris 8 host - Help!

    Greetings folks,
    I just recently migrated a host to use LDAP authentication. The only difference between this host and the rest of the hosts in the environment that I've converted to use LDAP is that this one is running Solaris 8.
    Here's the steps I took to migrate it (though, I used the same steps for another Sol8 host in another environment and it works fine):
    ldapclient -P stg -d mydomain.com -D cn=proxyagent,ou=profile,dc=mydomain,dc=com -w secret 192.168.1.69
    My /etc/nsswitch.conf looks like this:
    passwd: files ldap
    group: files ldap
    My /etc/pam.conf looks like this:
    login auth requisite pam_authtok_get.so.1
    login auth required pam_dhkeys.so.1
    login auth sufficient pam_unix_auth.so.1
    login auth required pam_ldap.so.1
    sshd auth requisite pam_authtok_get.so.1
    sshd auth sufficient pam_unix_auth.so.1
    sshd auth required pam_ldap.so.1
    other auth requisite pam_authtok_get.so.1
    other auth required pam_dhkeys.so.1
    other auth sufficient pam_unix_auth.so.1
    other auth required pam_ldap.so.1
    passwd auth sufficient pam_passwd_auth.so.1
    passwd auth required pam_ldap.so.1
    I've also cleared out the local user accounts for my human users, so there aren't any more passwd or shadow entries (yes, I ran pwconv). I also cleaned out the /etc/group entries for the same users. The machine appears to be configured properly, because I can run various DS commands that indicate this:
    hostname# getent passwd user1
    user1::1001:1001:User 1:/opt/home/user1:/bin/bash
    hostname# ldaplist -l passwd user1
    dn: uid=user1,ou=people,dc=mydomain,dc=com
    shadowFlag: 0
    userPassword: {crypt}(removed)
    uid: user1
    objectClass: posixAccount
    objectClass: shadowAccount
    objectClass: account
    objectClass: top
    cn: user1
    uidNumber: 1001
    gidNumber: 1001
    gecos: User 1
    homeDirectory: /opt/home/user1
    loginShell: /bin/bash
    However, in the end, actual logins to this host fail via ssh. Snooping the traffic reveals that all the right info is being handed back to the client, including the crypt'ed password hash, uid, etc. just like I see with other hosts that work.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Patrick

    I assume you have applied lastest kernel patch and 108993 to this Solaris8 machine, and its nss_ldap.so.1 and pam_ldap.so.1 are the same as the other Solaris8 LDAP clients that are working for ssh via LDAP auth.
    1) Please replace "objectClass: account" with "objectClass: person", I know SUN ONE DS5.2 likes "person".
    2) Did you test and verify telnet/ftp/su working? but SSH not working?
    3) If telnet/ftp/su all worked, and SSH (SUN-SSH or OpenSSH), make sure you have "UsePAM yes" in sshd_config and restart sshd.
    4) It is not a must I think but normally I will add "shadow: files ldap" to /etc/nsswitch.conf, restart nscd after that.
    5) Whenever ldapclient command is run and ldap_cachemgr is restarted, I usually also restart nscd and sshd after that, if not testing result may not be accurate as nscd is still remembering OLD stuffs cached which could be very misleading.
    6) You may use "ssh -v userid@localhost" to watch the SSH communications, on top of your usual "snoop"ing of network packets.
    7) Use the sample pam.conf that is meant for pam_ldap from Solaris 10 system admin guide with all the pam_unix_cred.so.1 lines commented out. This works for me, there is no sshd defintions as it will follow "other".

  • Hyperlink is not working when running on sun solaris OS

    Hi,
    I have Created PDF file using oracle reports 2.5 version and included hyperlinks in reports which will open files located on our intranet server(http://cup2.ngc.co.uk). Hyperlinks are working properly when I generated report on window xp machine but not working when I compiled and executed report on solaris unix server(reports 6i).
    please let me know why hyperlinks is not working when executed on solaris((5.8). do we need any setup to work hyperlinks on unix server.
    Thanks in advance,

    Ok, there are 2 docs i've tried.
    A = Doc created originally from MPB Pages with hyperlink
    B = Doc created from iPad Pages with hyperlink
    A was transfered to iPad Pages using iTune. I emailed A as pdf from iPad to gmail and reopen the file on iPad using Quickoffice / PDF Reader Lite, the link is NOT active, not working. BUT, when i read A using MBP gmail, the link is ACTIVE, i click on the link and it brings me to the correct webpage.
    As for B, after the page was created with links on iPad, i emailed B as pdf from iPad to gmail, reopen the file on iPad using Quickoffice / PDF Reader Lite, the link is NOT active, and this time, when i read B using MBP gmail, the link is NOT active as well.
    Weird huh? I'm starting to sense that is the problem with iPad Pages. What say you?

    Why its not working in Solaris........PLEASE HELP ME OUT...........!!!!!
    Thanks in Advance........
    sharat ([email protected])

    Hi Sharat
    I see that you have two entries for helvetica font in your uifont.ali. Be aware that order of precedence is alias->embed->subset. If the helvetica part is appearing junk, try and comment out the entry in embed section and let the subsetting happen.
    On Solaris, ensure that the case of font file names match.

    The currently supported versions with patches installed are as follows:
    <li>10.1.2.3 (10.1.2.0.2 + patch 5983622)
    <li>11.1.1.4 (11.1.1.2 or 11.1.1.3 + patch 11060983 : this also requires WLS 10.3.4)
    Fusion Middleware (FMw) 11 downloads are available from here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/weblogic/downloads/index.html
    Patches are only available to customers with access to MyOracleSupport (http://support.oracle.com)
    For Forms/Reports users, look for the FMw download titled "Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer". The distribution includes all that is necessary to design and deploy your applications. Note that WebLogic Server is also required and is a separate download (from the same page). Be sure to carefully review the installation instructions before attempting the process. It may also be helpful to review MyOracleSupport note 1073776.1.
