As far as i know the wl (proprietary broadcom driver) doesn't support monitor/injection.
But the Mac80211 alternatives might. If they support the wifi chip in your MacBook.
From experience with a friends MBP it didn't yet support his broadcom so had to use WL to get basic network connectivity and used an Dual-band(2.4Ghz/5Ghz) 2x2 11n/ac USB dongle for his monitor/injection needs.

  • Lion doesn't support MSOffice for Mac or Quicken........ Help

I loaded lion prematurely, without properly researching for my needs.  Now my MSOffice for Mac and quicken software are inoperable.  How do I unload lion?  Are their any other solutions?

Lion supports Office after 2004 but anything from 2004 and before is unsupported due to it being a power PC applicaiton.
Quicken is all sorts of messed up and they have a popular FAQ page found here (http://quicken.intuit.com/support/help/install--register--and-convert/quicken-fo r-mac-compatibility-with-mac-osx-10-7-lion/GEN83208.html)
If you want to un-install Lion then you'll need to backup your HD, boot to the Snow Leopard disk, erase the partition, reinstall the OS and then re-import from Time Machine. Using Migration Assistant to re-import from Time Machine is your best bet.
    Good luck

  • I was just told by a Lenovo CS rep that the W520 doesn't support 6Gbps for "data integrity" reasons

The main HDD bay in my W520 drops from 6Gbps to 3Gbps shortly after boot. The speed drop is triggered when I start to pass data over the port. I can take the same drive (Vertex 3 240GB) and put it in the ultrabay and I get full 6Gbps speeds. It seems pretty obvious to me that this is a problem with the SATA controller on the laptop's motherboard (my specific laptop, not the whole run; other prople have the same drive with no issues), but after arguing with Lenovo support for over a week now, a customer satisfaction rep just sent me this email:
"I was able to confirm with are technical support that SSD transfer rate for the W520 ThinkPad is 3,0GB/s (chipset has the capability but we limit it for data integrity). So, your system is working as designed.
One bay for removable devices, Ultrabay Slim-compatible, 12.7mm high, bottom access
Some: Solid State Drive (SSD) / SATA 3.0Gb/s, 2.5" wide, 7mm high
    Some: HDD / SATA 3.0Gb/s, 2.5" wide, 7mm or 9.5mm high, Active Protection System™
All: removable, upgradable, supports the second disk, Shock Mounted Hard Drive"
    (w/ a link to this: http://www.lenovo.com/psref/pdf/tabook.pdf)
Obviously, these numbers refer to the speeds of the drives that Lenovo sells, not the speed that the port itself is capable of. Additionally, there are dozens of people that have confirmed that the main bay is capable of 6Gbps speeds. I also confirmed this with several sales reps before I purchased the laptop.
How should I handle this? He is going to have his tech support people call me back tomorow, but I seriously doubt they're going to be very helpful.

[UPDATE for 4/6/2011] A little over a week ago I sent some questions into Lenovo around the drives and storage for the new Sandy Bridge based notebooks.  Here are the questions and the answers I received.
    1. Are the supported SATA interface speeds on the new ThinkPad's SATA III 6GB? Specifically, is this true for the T420, T420s, X220, X220t, T520, and W520?
[Lenovo] Yes, The new Huron River ThinkPads will support 6Gb/s, but our current drives that have been certified are only 3GB/s drives. The current roadmap is showing Late 3Q or early 4Q is when we'll qualify 6GB/s drives. This is true for the T420, T420s, X220, X220t, T520, and W520.

  • SunJCE Provider doesn't support RSA for all version of JCE?

    Folks,
Have browsed through the forum and it seems that the JCE provider bundled with JCE and JDK1.4+ do nothing on RSA. Can I make this conclusion?

But it seems the SunJCE doesn't provide the RSA (and
AES, who knows what else is missing) encryption and
decryption functions. Can anyone list what is missing
from the SunJCE? Also, from the forum, many have
pointed to this bounty castle provider. Can any of
you guys who are familiar with this provider give us
the procedure of installation? Thanks.I wouldn't use the term 'missing' here. Sun provides some basic cryptographic functions and that all. If you want more, get another provider. Sun will never be able to provide every possible algorithm. That's why they have implemented the external provider option. So no, I cannot list what is missing.
I can tell you that other providers, for instance BouncyCastle offer much more cryptographic functions. Installation is very easy. Just download the .jar and put it in your <java>\jre\lib\ext directory. After that you can use it in you programs with the following code:
    Provider prov = new org.bouncycastle.jce.provider.BouncyCastleProvider();
Security.addProvider(prov); You can also install it so that you don't have use this code in every program that uses the provider. How this is accomplished, can be found in the install manual from BouncyCastle.

Mavric doesn't support my 5 years old Big Screen Display, OR? Tried to connect my Mac Book Pro after installing Mavric, The Screen didn't work as before. I could only see the Desktop but not the movies for example.
    <E-mail Edited by Host>

It appears what happened is the installer though it was looking at a empty drive and just went ahead and installed.
I of course am assuming here you didn't use Disk Utility to format the drive first before installing, that would wipe out your files and programs for sure.
So what to do, what to do.
Well there is hope for you as long as the drive wasn't Filevaulted.
I'll explain. When a hard drive writes data for the first time to a drive, it starts at the very top and works it's way down.
When OS X was installed the first time, it was at the top of the drive, unless you upgraded then the upgraded OS X could have been written elsewhere.
Now when you just reinstalled OS X, the new OS went on the top of the drive, overwriting any data that was there previously, so what was there you have lost forever which is about 8GB or so. If it was the previous OS there, then your more in luck because only the old OS X was overwritten.
The remaining space on the drive still can have a copy of your files, provided it's not overwritten yet.
It's because when a hard drive deletes data or reformats, it doesn't remove the data off the drive or overwrites it immediately, it's just made so it's SPACE is available for new files to be written there.
So technically one can recover the deleted data off a non-encrypted/scrubbed hard drive with special software.
The way it does this is it reads the 1's and 0's of the files themselves, and through a lot of figuring out, can tell what that file is and what it belongs too.
So what you will have to do is this:
Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
or if you don't have the skills, then take it to a local PC/Mac tech and they can do a direct image of the drive and then you can run Data Rescue on it to rebuild your files.

You installed the Conduit spyware. To remove it, triple-click the following line of text to select it:
    ~/Library/Application Support/Conduit
Copy (command-C) the text to the Clipboard. Then select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the Finder menu bar and paste (command-V) into the box that opens. A Finder window may open with a folder named "Conduit" selected. If so, delete the selected folder.
Select Go to Folder again and enter:
    /Library
From the folder that opens, delete the following items, if they exist. You may be prompted for your login password.
    Application Support/Conduit
    InputManagers/CTLoader
    LaunchAgents/com.conduit.loader.agent.plist
    ScriptingAdditions/ct_scripting.osax
Close the folder. Now select Go to Folder one more time and enter:
    /Applications/Toolbars
Delete that item. Close the Finder windows you opened. Log out and log back in.

    Update your iOS.
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.

  • Solaris 8 x86 doesn't ask for default route at install time

The Solaris 8 installation program doesn't ask what the machine's default route should be. This means that when you configure DNS servers later on that aren't on the same subnet as the machine you get error messages.
    Anyone know a work around?

Re: Solaris 8 x86 doesn't ask for default route at install time
    I had the same problem.
I was wondering why something so essential is missing for the GUI Install, it would be possilbe a patch to correct this?, instead of configuring nsswitch, and another files.
The easier the install and admin, more users solaris will have on Intel Platform.

You could try a third-party browser app such as Skyfire, iSwifter, Puffin and Photon which 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store.

Apple tell me that it is a vintage computer now and I must throw it away and buy a new one.  Where is their social/eco conscience ...
we are living in hard times trying to survive and trying to keep our businesses healthy.  Now is not the time to buy a new computer.
    What is Apple playing at??????

You plug the phone into your computer and go to the Info Tab for the device in iTunes. Select what you want to sync. You should not attempt to sync with both iCloud and the local contacts on the Mac.
Are you having some kind of problem doing this?

I am trying to hook up my Airport Express to my current network and AirPort Extreme but keep getting the same error message: "This version of AirPort Utility doesn’t support this base station. Go to AirPort Service and Support for more information." Any thoughts?

This sounds as if you have an older AirPort Express that is no longer supported by the newer Mavericks operating system.
To check and see if  that might be the case, locate the model number on the side of the AirPort Express. It will start with an "A" followed by four numbers. Hard to see in the faint print.....so you may need reading glasses or a magnifying class to see the model number clearly.
Model numbers A1084 and A1088 of the AirPort Express are no longer supported by AirPort Utility in Mavericks.
You will need to use a Mac running Leopard, Snow Leopard, or a PC to be able to administer the older AirPort Express.
