Solaris 8 on I 810 Graphic controller

Hi;
I have tried to install solaris 8 on Intel 810E Motherboard but its not able to detect the Graphic adpater. But I810 is Solaris HCL list. why is that so. Can u please help me.
thank u in advance

Hmm, the V440 is a quite old box as well, so it should work with Solaris 8 7/03 or older.
There are three alternatives as far as i can see:
1: What version of Solaris 8 are you using? If you are using 7/03 or later it should be sufficent if you booted the V440 into singleuser mode (from cd/dvd or network) mounted the disk and ran devfsadm -R on it.
2: If the Solaris 8 would be older than 7/03, you should, as far as i can see, be able to install the flar archives from your jumpstart, and then boot of a Solaris 8 7/03 (or later) cd and run an upgrade from it.
3: Apply the following patches, either to your 880 before you create the image, or to your V440 after installing the flar (you would have to apply the patches from single-user as mentioned inn step 1, it should be possible to add the patches from a jumpstart image using the patchadd -R command).

108974-31 (or newer) sd and ssd patch
109873-19 (or newer) libprtdiag_psr.so.1 patch

when i play counter strike or other games my fps drops i have tryed every thing even down to reformating
i think i got a onboard gfx card but when i look in bios i theres no option to disable it  (GFX Card) Intel(r) 82815 Graphics Controller.

If you are using the integrated VGA of an i815 chipset it's really not worth anything.
Have a look in the device manager what display adapter is installed.
If the integrated VGA is in use it will be disabled the moment you install an AGP card, there isn't a manual disable option.

  • ATI Catalyst /displays/properties/graphics controller

First, I have successfully installed my ATI video card and have downloaded all of the needed updated drivers.
However, I am receiving the following warning message: The ATI Catalyst Control Center is not supported by the
driver version of my enabled graphics adapter the ( Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV) graphics controller. It goes on to say please update your ATI graphics driver. Or enable your ATI using the displays manager which, is located in the "ATI Catalyst Control Center".
I've gone to the ATI Catalyst Control Center. There I find basic and advanced settings. I tried using the basic step by
step easy set up wizard, and quick settings. I could not get past step one on either one. This wizard told me it was to convert a video file to a differn't video format. My question is would converting a video file to a differn't video format fix the driver version and graphics adapter? Or do I maybe need to install a differn't graphics adapter/controller?

Hi, my computer wont start up all i get is a blank screen, but apparantly the caps and num lights flash a code which mine does. I get 4 flashes which according to the hp website is a Graphics controller not functional. Does anyone know what could be causing this or had this problem. Try removing the hard disk and then starting up the PC. That way we can isolate the issue. If you make it to the BIOS screen then you hard drive might be faulty, not your motherboard

  • Solaris 10 Upgrade no Graphical Environments

I just upgraded my little Ultra 10 (300Mhz, 256MB, 40GB disk) from Solaris 9 to Solaris 10. I basically selected "everything" and after hours of feeding CDs it finished and I just get the console login. I turned on the login server. Reboot. No CDE. I tried runing the session manager from the command line and it chunks away a little while and just comes back to the command line.
During the install it did some windows on the screen. Do I have to go back to Solaris 9 to get this thing doing graphical interfaces again?
Geez Linux is so much easier!

    Hello John,
I'm pretty sure that even with 256MB of the memory a graphical setup is available.
If cost is an issue, try to get 128MB modules (501-2654). These are higher profile and <u>not</u> certified for the Ultra 5/10. They even fit in the Ultra 5 after removing the floppy mounting bracket. These modules are inexpensive to get from second hand (e.g. eBay).
    The modules are for mid-range and high-end servers (E3x00,E4x00,E5x00,E6x00 x=0 or 5, and E10K).
Maybe a reconfiguration boot (<b>boot -r</b>) resolves the issue.
Have you tried to reset the configuration with <b>sys-unconfig</b>. There are only a few settings you have to re-enter.

  • Solaris 8 (Intel) install - graphics adaptor

This product seems to operate with a limited range of graphics cards.
I have a TX Pro motherboard with an SIS 6326 AGP graphics chip, and 8 Mbytes of on-board VGA memory. I can't install Solaris unless I can configure the display adaptor correctly, and it works with none of them.
As you can guess, I am trying to avoid buying a new card. SIS do not supply Solaris drivers.
    Any suggestions ?

Have run into this problem on a tnt ultra2. Found that if I just accepted the default resolution during the install, it worked fine. After the install, I ran kdmconfig again, and had no problems changing the resolution.
    Hope this helps.

  • Probably terribly obvious....VirtualBox and Solaris...only one controller?

Have VirtualBox 4.0.4 on a intel Mac. Installed Solaris 10, and I am in the process of setting it up. Will eventually install Oracle for development purposes.
Problem I am having is in creating a second virtual "disk"...I can go into the "settings", create a second " controller", etc Even create another ".vdi" file for the second disk, but I can not seem to get Solaris to "see" that the disk on the second controller is present. There should be some /dev/rdsk/c1xxx files for a second controller..but nothing appears. Tried runnings devfsadm but is does not see anything else either.
I assume its a glitch somewhere on my part.

Still researching prob...but one thing is interesting. If you let VM create a SATA controller first "by default", and then go from there, it does not seem to let you add another disk that the OS can see. If you create it "manually" with an IDE CDROM first, and then add the SATA controller, it sees the second disk from the OS just fine.

  • Intel 810 graphics, please...

Sorry if I missed this. Newbie to OpenSolaris, using the Java Desktop which I guess means Xorg. Need a graphics driver for Intel 82810 motherboard in my Dell GX100 desktop. If it's already available just let me know where please, maybe with install/config hints.

    Apply patch 109401-10.
    http://sunsolve.sun.com/pub-cgi/retrieve.pl?patchid=109401&collection=fpatches
The installation procedure is to install Solaris 8 with standard VGA (640x480). Then install the patch with "patchadd 109401-10". Once this is done, make sure you are exiting the X server by choosing "Command Line Login" at the login screen. Log in as root and type "kdmconfig". The Intel chip should be in the list of available drivers.

  • JRE 1.5.0.06 & ATI Rage XL PCI Graphics Controller

    Hi,
I am quite new with Java so my message maybe a little vague and missing certain information.
We have a 3rd party application running on Citrix which when certain functions are carried out within the application it opens a Java window!
The problems we are getting are occasional crashes on opening certain screens and text from a dialog box missing and also very rarely the screen goes grey and you can only get back by moving the mouse over areas of the grey box.
We were originally on earlier releases of JRE so we have upgraded to try and tackle the problem but the issues still occur so I started to search the java forums and I have read there are problems with JRE and some ATI graphics controllers.
The graphics driver on the server is from the ATI RAGE XL PCI Family and is version 5.10.2600.6014.
    Regards,
    Chad

  • How to disable my onboard graphics controller hp desktop t3524

IM trying to upgrade the desktop im trying to install geforce 210 ddr2 but having no luck can some on help please

Yes I have the monitor hooked up to the GTX260 connection and I am getting a picture fine even though the 260 is not showing up in the device manager.   It shows "standard VGA adaptor" in the device manager.  That is why I was going to just install the latest drivers for the 260 and see what happens.

  • Identifying the on-board graphics controller

I re-installed Windows 7.0 prof. on a Dell Vostro 260 i3 PC. Unfortunately I neglected to check the drivers for the machine in device manager before I installed Windows. Now I have a problem to determine which of the eight possible display drivers on the Dell support site to install. I tried three according to specifications for these machines that I found on-line, however, none of the three works.
How can I identify what on-board display card is in the machine and which driver I should install? Currently only the generic Windows VGA driver is installed which is useless for the particular monitor that I'm using. Unfortunately I cannot go on-line with the affected machine since I only have a WiFi connection and the machine is not Wi-Fi enabled.

Look in Device Manager for the hardware and vendor ID, then look up the numbers on the PCIDatabase.com site.
    8086 is Intel's vendor ID.

VGA: Intel Corporation 810 Graphics Controller Hub
    NC: 3Com 3C920 Integrated Fast Ethernet ( 3C905C - TX Compatibile)
the next thing is that i dont even have the hostname file (e.g hostname.elxl0) in the etc directory.
