Solaris bit processor

Hi ,
can anyone tell me how to check whether it is 32 bit arch or 64 arch in solaris-10 update 5
I gave the following command it says both as follows , not sure which one is the right one....
-bash-3.00$ isainfo -v
64-bit amd64 applications
cx16 mon sse3 sse2 sse fxsr mmx cmov amd_sysc cx8 tsc fpu
32-bit i386 applications
cx16 mon sse3 sse2 sse fxsr mmx cmov sep cx8 tsc fpu
Thanks

After installation, the code on the hard drive will have support for both 32 and 64 bit kernels. The boot loader will examine the processor and select the proper kernel.
If desired, you can force a particular kernel via parameters in GRUB at boot time, but it's not usually necessary.
There's nothing you have to do at install time to select one or the other.

  • Itunes 7.6 Crashes on New Windows Vista 32 bit Home Prem (64 bit processor)

I have a weird one... I have a new DELL XPS 420 PC with Windows Vista 32 bit Home Premium version on a 64 bit Intel Duo Core processor... Itunes 7.6 (Quicktime 7.4.1) crashes regardless of all solutions and suggestions (Quicktime also crashes as stand alone operation)... I have tried all suggested solutions from the discussions I have found about 64 bit Vista even though I don't have 64 bit Vista- I have a 64 bit "processor"... my logical conclusion is the latest, greatest version of Itunes (Quicktime) addresses the problem with 64 bit OS but NOT 64 bit processors... IF ANYONE or ANY EINSTIENS OUT THERE HAVE ANY SOLUTIONS, WOULD YOU PLEASE PLEASE HELP?

You probably need to manually remove your gear drivers.
This thread contains a link to an article that tells you how to do it.

  • 64 bit processor running on a 32 bit os

I have a laptop that has a 64 bit processor running on a 32 bit os. Can I upgrade my os to 64 bit? If so how? I have a compaq presario with  AMD  64 Athlon X2 procssor (64-bit) running on windows vista premium 32-bit. Please help.

You do not HAVE to upgrade to a 64bit OS, although doing so will better utilize the dual core capabilities of your processor.
If you do not upgrade, the sky will not fall, your computer WILL still be usable, and your programs will ALL work.
If you do want to upgrade, head into a store or online, and look for an UPGRADE package as it's a LOT cheaper then buying a full out version.

Agreed.   Core2Duo processors through early 2007 were a mix of 32/64 bit, which is why they couldn't always be addressed beyond 3GB of RAM.
After then they were all 64 bit.   The graphics never increased above 32 bit, as that's all that is needed for millions of colors.  Optimizations for shade and three dimensional graphics came not from the bit of the card, but from the capacity of the graphics chip/card, measured in MB and GB.   Bit just describes the path width of the data stream.    The MB and GB of the chip/card describes the storage capacity itself.

InDesign CS6 v8.1.0 should run without problems.
The cloud versions do not. They would require OSX 10.7.5 and soon OSX 10.9:

  • Do MacBook Early 2009 Model have 64-bit processor?

    I have a MacBook While 13', Early 2009 Model [ http://support.apple.com/kb/SP504 ]
I was using Leopard till date, but now want to upgrade to Snow Leopard.
I read technical specifications for Snow Leopard, and it says that 64-bit support is available with 64-bit processor only [ http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575 ]
I don't know whether my MacBook have 64-bit processor or not? Do any know about it?
Can I install Snow Leopard on my MacBook?
    Help me, Please.
If possible, please show me how can I find whether my MacBook supports 64-bit processing or not?

Note too, that unless you have more than 4GB of RAM installed, and have applications that are written in 64bit and can access more than 4GB of RAM, there is no discernable difference between running the 32bit kernel or the 64bit kernel.
Both the 32bit kernel and the 64bit kernel use a memory address system that can use more than 4GB RAM for those applications that support using 64bit memory.  The 32bit kernel itself can only address <4GB RAM for kernel processes, but since it is pretty rare that the kernel itself ever needs anywhere near that much RAM, the difference between the two kernels is pretty much a non-issue for most users (even those running 64bit applications in machines with >4GB of RAM installed).

  • Can photoshop CS5.5 work on a 32 bit processor or does it need 64 bit.  It keeps crashing on 32 bit.

My photoshop CS 5.5 keeps crashing all the time.  Can photoshop CS5.5 work on a 32 bit processor or does it need 64 bit.  I am running it on 32 bit.  Could this be the problem?

Hi, thanks for that.  I just had a live chat with adobe and they sent me
through the system specs for CS5.5 and it said a 64 bit processor, nothing
about 32 bit, but I have no doubt you are correct because I do think I may
have read that somewhere else myself.  I am not computer savvy so am loathe
to uninstall etc.  Am looking to update my computer and getting CS6 so
hoping that will sort the problem out.  Do you know much about plugs in?  I
do have a few plug ins such as topaz adjust, nik silver efex, imagenomic and
one one perfect photo suite 7.  It has been suggested to me that I uninstall
them all but again not too good at that sort of thing.
Thanks for replying to my query.  I appreciate it.

  • It´s thrue that there´s a MB that supports 64 bit and 32 bit processors?

hi.. i have an amd 64 bit  but i don´t like it so much because there are no programs to use it well... so i´m thinking to change myself to an intel P4 but i work with graphics and i don´t know what to do...
... a friend told me that there is a motherboard that supports bouth 64 bit and 32 bit processor...
    can you confirm this?
if you don´t, please help me..!!
    any solution is well recived...

Although someone mentioned about the 865PE Neo3-F which maybe one but no one can confirm this as none of the manufacturers has brought it up yet but the fact that Prescott moving on to 64bit may be possible.

  • HT3696 How its' possible to change from 32 bit to 64 bit Processor for MacMini?

How its' possible to change from 32 bit to 64 bit Processor for MacMini? Mini?

You probably have a Core Solo or Core Duo model. You can upgrade the CPU to a 64-bit Core 2 Duo in the T7200-T7600 family.
iFixit and OWC provide easy-to-follow, step-by-step guides. It's a delicate procedure, but not overly difficult. I'm all thumbs, and I have done it twice.

  • Any Disadvantages to Core Duo iMac Having A 32 Bit Processor?

I have posted this in the iMac Forum with no response. I know a lot of FCE/FCP users have iMacs and plenty of technical knowledge.
I have just read the following statement in MacRumors where they were reviewing the Intel iMac:-
"Whereas the G5 was a 64 bit processor, the Intel Core Duo is strictly 32 bit".
Is this likely to have any practical significance or cause any problems?
I use programs like Final Cut Express and Photoshop.
    Ian.

It will have no significance. The only significance to the everyday user a 64-bit system allows is much larger addressable memory. Thus you can have your 64-bit computer with, say, 16GB RAM, as distinct from the 32-bit CPU computer's limitation of 4GB RAM. There are of course other factors, but none that would in any way affect a user outside a large science lab.
Since you can very happily use FCE and Photoshop with even 1GB RAM (although more is always advisable), and since you can't actually PUT more than 2GB RAM into the iMac, this issue is totally irrelevant and you should not factor it into your purchase decision.
BTW, you're not the great Ian Brown of The Stone Roses, are you?
