SOLARIS HANG ON INSTALL

I recently received a Sun Micosystems Solaris 10 DVD. I followed the installation instructions that are online. There was no problems until the installation process. Halfway through the installation window diseapeared. i waited for 20 minutes and then restarted my computer. If i boot from the Hard Drive i get a "bad PBR sig" and if i boot from the disc i get to the loading secound stage. then the highlight what you want to boot. Then it just says all rights reserved SunMicrosystems 1987-2006.
Can someone please help me.

  • Adobe AIR installation issue - hangs at "Installing..."

    Hello everyone!
    I know questions similar to this have been asked many times before, but I did not manage to find the solution to my problem after a few hours of reading and trying the various 'solutions' around the net and this forum. I apologise if I missed it.
    I cannot seem to install Adobe AIR. I run a freshly downloaded installation executable, but it hangs at "Installing..." and 0% progress for a very, very, very long time, if I let it. This last try has been going for 45 minutes as I write. The only way to get out of the installer is through Task Manager and killing the service, as hitting 'Cancel' just makes the installer attempt to cancel endlessly.
    I tried installing it in safe mode but there it gives an error saying I may not have administrative permissions (which I do have);
    I created a new user account;
    I "run as Administrator" and am using an account with administrative rights;
    I tried it through the command line with putting the file in c:\ and running "AdobeAIRInstaller.exe -silent" without quotes from c:\;
    I have shut off all my antivirus software;
    I tried downloading it with a different browser;
    I tried using the MicrosoftFixit.ProgramInstallUninstall, and took Adobe AIR off the list;
    I tried uninstalling all Adobe products and then reinstalling them, with Adobe AIR last
    ... and some more things, but none of this has helped. Here's what the installation log generates when it hangs:
    [2012-12-25:01:16:36] Runtime Installer begin with version 3.5.0.880 on Windows 7 x86

    I would much appreciate any help or advice anyone can give me regarding this! This is starting to drive me nuts.
    Thank you.
    ( also, this is my first post, so please forgive if I've done anything wrong or not according to etiquette! )

    Ok, I understand.  So before we continue, we really need to figure out what the exact error is.  Can you, on at least 2 systems, generate the MSI logs we'll need?  Here's a document that explains how to enable logging and where to find the logs once they've been created:
    How to enable Windows logging
    Once you've enabled logging, try installing again.  Grab the newly created msi logs and either post here or email me at [email protected]  I'll examine the logs and see if we can find a common issue between the systems.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • 64 bit OEL install hangs at installing dogtail in OVM 2.2

    I recently upgraded my server to OVM 2.2 and swapped out the dual core AMDs to quad core AMDs at the same time.
    Since then I have been unable to create any 64 bit OEL servers. In every instance the install hangs when Installing dogtail-0.6.1-2.el5.noarch

    2 new updates
    1) I get the same errors when trying a command line install

  • Hang while installing OS X Mavericks

    Hi, my MacBook Air is currently hanging while installing OS X Mavericks. I got stuck after the installer asked me about my iCloud account, which I forgot, so I clicked 'Forgot Password'. It's been showing a gray loading screen ever since. I tried to restart it a couple of times but it won't, and my laptop won't even shut down. I close my computer and then the startup comes up again, I put in password, but it's the same gray loading screen.
    I'd like to reload the installation, or at least get to access my computer files. What do I do? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    Nevermind! It managed to shut down after a while. Whew!

  • Ds5.1 on Solaris 8 core install and SNMP

    On a Solaris 8 core installation with the Directory Server 5.1,
    everything works okay, except SNMP activation from the Administration Server which sends the following error

    SNMP master agent refuses to start.
    This works very well on a Solaris 8 full install, so the question

    What Solaris 8 packages are required to handle SNMP properly
    in this context ?

  • Fresh solaris 10 x86 install patch update problems 119060-17 ...

    Just yesterday, i installed a fresh Solaris 10 x86 onto some pc hardware. After getting solaris installed and issues with my network card, i downloaded and installed the free version of the update manager 1.0.x. Next, i proceeded to update all the general patches for the solaris 10 system. I started with the command 'pprosvc -i' from a terminal. It then proceeded to download and validate a bunch of patches successfully until it hit the following 3 patches:
    119060-17 ---- X11 6.6.2_x86: Xsun patch
    122213-10 ---- GNOME 2.6.0_x86: GNOME Desktop Patch
    122912-02 ---- SunOS 5.10_x86: Apache 1.3 Patch
    All 3 failed some kind of validation and then crashed the pprosvc program, at which point it exited with the following error:
    122912-02 cannot be validated
    119060-17 cannot be validated
    122912-02 cannot be validated
    Unexpected Failure: java.lang.Throwable: ERROR: Failed to validate the digital signature(s).
    I also tried to use the GUI Update Manager to update, hoping the problem was isolated to pprosvc, but that problem was also in the GUI with a similar error message:
    Error occurred...The detailed error message is: Unexpected Failure: java.lang.Throwable: ERROR: Failed to validate the digitial signature(s)
    Anyone know why Sun's update patch process is so troublesome?
    Getting Tired of Solaris Updates...
    I should mention that this is the free solaris 10 x86 install and i don't have a service contract with Sun. If this problem persists, i don't think i'll get one, as i see only further problems after buying one.
    tired and confused

    Hi,
    There is an issue with this that is currently being investigated. There is another thread that may shed some light on what is happening here;
    http://forum.sun.com/jive/forum.jspa?forumID=316
    Thread title is : Sun UC, Digitally Signed Patches Using New Verisign Certificates
    In the short-term please ensure that the patch mentioned in it is installed.
    To quote part of mentioned thread above:
    "Once the Sun Update Connection client software is upgraded with patch 121118-06 (SPARC) or 121119-06 (x86/x64) or later revisions normal behavior will resume. "
    If this fails to resolve your problem, would you be kind enough to post the output of the following command for analysis please;
    # showrev -p | egrep -e '121454|121119|120336|121082|121564|122232|119789'

  • Solaris 10 x86 install problems allocating resources

    I have a problem when I first install. I get two devices, NON ACPI and ACPI both using IRQ 3. After the conflict resolves, during some page instances of the boot configuration assistant, I lose my keyboard functionality.
    This is currently set to IRQ 1. I was wondering if this was correct based on x86 platform specific resources. I am also unsure as to what port I need to use.
    Has anyone ever tried anything different other than IRQ 1?
    AMD K6 400 w/ adaptec 2940 UW / 2 x 9.1 GB scsi Quantum 7200 rpm 56x ide cdrom and 192 mb memory SDRAM
    Even if I switch my pci config around physically, that still won't help the keyboard probing or will it? Can I shut off probing and do it manually? Then again, I lose the keyboard sometimes during the boot config.
    Thanks,
    KW

    I think u should do one thing.
    1) Find out your name of your NIC card. ( Probably if u installed XP and seen which NIC is that)
    2) Download drivers for your NIC by giving something like " download network drivers for solaris for ' your NIC' ".
    3) If fortunately if u get drivers, copy it on ur solaris machine and install it by reading readme file of the drivers.
    4) In readme file u will also find NIC name.
    5) Then run command " ifconfig (card name e.g. bcme0) plumb
    6) Now run "ifconfig -a" if u find ur card name there except le0 then congrats u have done it.
    7) Move ahead with network config.
    Note : - I am not sure but i think if ur machine is old then u will not get drivers for it.
    Tell me if u get success........

  • Solaris 10 x86 Install skips Network Configuration

  • Unbootable Solaris 10 x86 installed on ZFS root file system

    Hi all,
    I have unbootable Solaris 10 x86 installed on ZFS root file system. on an IDE HDD
    The bios keep showing the msg
    DISK BOOT FAILURE , PLEASE INSERT SYSTEM BOOT DISK
    please note :
    1- the HDD is connected properly and recognized by the system
    2- GRUB don't show any messages
    is there any guide to recover the system , or detail procedure to boot system again
    Thanks,,,

    It's not clear if this is a recently installed system that is refusing to boot OR if the system was working fine and crashed.
    If it's the former, I would suggest you check the BIOS settings to make sure it's booting from the right hard disk. In any case, the Solaris 10 installation should have writting the GRUB stage1 and stage2 blocks to the beginning of the disk.
    If the system crashed and is refusing to boot, you can try to boot from a Solaris 10 installation DVD. Choose the single user shell option and see if it can find your system. You should be able to use format/devfsadm/etc to do the actual troubleshooting. If your disk is still responding, try a `zpool import` to see if there is any data that ZFS can recognize (it usually has many backup uberblocks and disk labels scattered around the disk).

  • Tecra S1 Hangs when installing XP

    Hi,
    I have a weird problem. My Tecra S1 'hangs' when installing a 'normal' Windows XP Pro (instead of using the 'image DVD). The installation works fine up till the last 9 minutes...then it 'hangs', and the laptop stops working. Only possible solution is then to take out the battery & cut the power. Had a (1 time) similar problem of 'hanging' when using the image DVD
    Somebody who had this before ???
    Thanks a lot for all your hints & tips...

    Hej guys,
    Thanks a lot for the suggestions, and indeed, I also tried other CD's of XP pro...all with the same result. At the last 9 seconds it hangs & the only thing I can do is take out the battery. Last thing I tried was installing a Win2000 pro & that works fine. Then I tried to upgrade that version, but again...it stopped at the last 9 seconds.... :-((, so perhaps indeed I have to look in the direction of the memory problem ???

  • Installing ad-hoc application hangs on installing

    I have developed an iPad application, and added a friend to my provisioning profile and rebuilt my application.  I then sent him the .ipa and he has dropped it into his itunes application, and he can see the icon on his home screen but it just hangs on "installing".
    Any ideas?  Also, he said that the icon doesn't show in his iTunes but it does show in the organizer when i archived the application.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Argh... thanks, xnav!  I feel silly, not to have seen that.. never needed it before, lol
    Plenty of info being generated there.  Also, I offloaded my app launch setup code to a separate method call and now TestFlight registers the launch too.
    Apparently a nib is having problems loading... loads no problem when I run it from xcode!
    Ther pertinent message: <Error>: *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'Could not load NIB in bundle: 'NSBundle </var/mobile/Applications/64836972-248C-470C-91D3-3F4D76F1621B/r Evolution 2012.app> (loaded)' with name 'RootViewController''
    At least I now exactly where to look now, thanks!

  • LOB apps hanging on install from Company Portal

    Hi,
    We're having issues with LOB (.appx) app installs from the Company Portal.  We're strictly using Intune for LOB app deployment to Win8.1 Enterprise devices.  When users attempt to install a LOB app, it just hangs at installing.  We've tried
    stopping the Intune service, rebooting, even quitting the Company Portal app, but nothing will either kickstart the install or stop it so they can try again.
    If there are multiple requests for the same app via the Company Portal (say 100-200) at around the same time, will the installs be done on a staggered basis, and it's just a matter of timing?
    I appreciate any insight here.

    As you seem not to have an answer for this. From my experience with Windows devices, if an app hangs on install, it has failed but not realised it. It may be something like a config file where it does not understand or is unable to process what to do and
    is unable to skip the step.
    I would normally suggest a local test as admin but cannot advise with appx unfortunately.
    Hope that helps.

  • Solaris 10 (10 1/06 ) Hang on install

    I am installing Solaris 10 (for intel) on my HP DL 350 G4 server.(As far as I can tell I meet the requirements from Sun's Hardware Compatibility List). On CD 1 I receive the following:
    "using RPC Bootparams for network configuration information." ( then it hangs forever)
    I downloade the ISO Images (4 cd's) from the sun site for Solaris x64/x86 (Solaris 10 1/06 Operating System). I unziped those files and burned through Roxio. While burning I used the option "Record disc from image".
    How do I fix this problem?
    Thank you for your help in advance!
    Deraviyam

    HP dosen't support 350 g4 on solairs. Try removing any addon nics or disablling the embedded nics until the installation is done.

  • Oracle DB Configuration Assistant hangs (9i install on Solaris 8)

    Attempting to install 9i database (9.0.1) on Solaris 8 on Sparcstation 20. Goes OK until it gets to the Oracle Configuration Assistant. During the "Creating and Starting Oracle instance" phase, it gets to 50% and just stays there. I left it over the weekend (ie, about 60 hours) and still at 50%. The checkmark is still flashing in the Assistant UI, but obviously nothing is happening.
    So.. my questions are:
    1. I can abort the Assistant. How would I start it manually later?
    2. Has anyone seen this and remedied it?
    3. How can I determine what went wrong?
    4. How can I tell what may have gone wrong in the install process that might cause Oracle to fail to install?
    Thanks for your help!

    What is the server hardware configuration???
    Maybe if you have less memory it's happen: 60 hours it's a very long time but you can try to install only the software and then that the installation is finished you can create the database with the database configuration assistant.
    Try and say something.
    Good Luck.
