Solaris install/ boot problems please help

recently had to use solaris at work and liked it. So thought of getting it solaris 10 on intel box at home to learn it. I have never worked on a unix based OS before. When I installed the OS first time, the desktop would not start up, this was because of network setup. Reinstalled worked. After a week due to some problem i had to reinstall OS, installation went fine and but when i reboot i get this errror.
cannot find mis/krtld
boot error loading interpreter(misc/krtld)
elf32 read error
load error read of "platform/i86pc/kernel/unix failed.
boot path /pci@0,0/pci-ide@1f,1/ide0/cmdk@0,0:a
i have been trying to reinstall with many option like formatting with windows fdisk, linux installer everything as I saw somehwre that disk needs low level format.
I have googled but could not find any reason.
When I try to format disk using windows this is the information gatherd
Partition1 (solarisboot) 12 MB
partition2 unknown 152610
Hardware
pentium4 2.4 GHZ
1Gb DDR memor
Intel Original mother board.
140 Gb hard disk
Installation
install type 3 (tried all options)
entire disk for boot and solaris
accepted almost all parameters.
downloaded again , burned a DVD still same.
Any help will be highly apreciated, as I have been trying out everything I could find, also I really want to learn to use solaris

Looks like a boot disk problem.Try doing a lowlevel format with the respective tools.(Ex.If seagate harddisk download seatools) No try to install the OS.If you are facing the same problem try installing windows and see.The error looks like a bad blocks in the disk.

Mac booting problem - Please help! very, very desperate!

My mac was being very, very slow so I turned it off, then as it it was booting it was taking ages so i restared in safe mode. While booting in safe mode the black bar at the bottom goes around 2/5 of the way across and then my macbook just switches off.

reinstalling OS X Lion
When i tried to repair, it said i needed to erase everything and reinstall the OS. Last night when i tried to it said both drives are locked so i couldnt. And now when i just tried again, neither drivers are appearing; the box is just blank.
Let alone my livelyhood on the laptop, i have thousands and thousands pictures which if lost, would genuinley heartbreak me. I have much valuable data on my laptop and i really dont want to erase all data, because me being the gigantic fool that i am, i only have one time machine back up from about a year and a half ago.
Please, please help.

unfortunately you’ve now discovered where the value proposition lies in making regular backups — if your livelihood depends upon your laptop, that lack of due diligence is rather baffling.
Which model MacBook Pro do you have, and which version of OS X is installed on it? Do you have an external bootable drive?

i just got everything running again, then i replaced the cup heatsync and fan.
now, everything starts up, cd roms spin up, hdd's spin up, but the monitor shows nothing at all the usb mouse does not light up.
please help me figure out whats wrong, i just cleared cmos, with no luck.

T30 boot problem - please help

1 beep then 3 beeps then 3 beeps then 1 beep upon startup.
I can hear the machine running, but the monitor is completely black - not a single flicker to be seen.
This is my daughters laptop, used mainly for surfing the net and listening to her music. If it's fixable, I'd prefer that then going out and having to buy her a new one.
Any ideas on the beep sequence? Is it worth bringing it in to a computer repair shop?
The machine was bought used about 1 year ago, so there is no warrenty. She also told me that before this happened, it was working fine. No spills, no dropping it, etc. Just one day it wouldn't boot.
Ideas?

lynn893, welcome to the forum,
according to the Hardware Maintainance Manual your beep code indicates either failed memory or a failed mainboard. As T30 systems are known to have a problem with one of the memory slots I would start by removing / swapping around the memory. Instructions on how to do his can be found in the HMM.

Mac OS X Install DVD problem - PLEASE HELP

I click "Install Mac OS X" and it prompts me to retart to begin instalation. WHne I do it asks me for my password and then restarts. it then reloads and doesn't start installing anything. am i doing something wrong? PLEASE HELP

If the DVD is from a specific Mac model, not yours, then it won't work. You need a standard retail version of Tiger.
You might try inserting the DVD in the optical drive, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold the "C" key until the computer starts up from the DVD (gray screen with dark gray Apple logo.) Release the key when the spinning gear appears.
If that doesn't work you may have a bad DVD. You say you burned a copy of the Tiger DVD. If the Tiger DVD you copied is not yours then you are technically pirating Apple's software which is illegal. 10.4.10 Update Problem-- PLEASE HELP!!!

I have a 17" Powerbook 1.33GHz. I just installed the 10.4.10 update. Now the computer wont boot on a power adapter. I had problems after the first update with changing state while the computer was asleep (ac adapter to battery) which would result in black screen and forced a hard reboot. Now when I try to power-up the computer from the restart (or regular reboot) it just doesnt boot. Please help if anyone has any ideas. I dont mind even if there is a way to undo this update.

Alright - I think my computer is good again. Here is what I did. I dont know how much of this will actually do anyone any good, but I figured if I listed it all step-by-step, maybe it would do some good to someone.
1) Restarted with AC in. Didnt boot - black screen
2) Restarted with no AC in. Booted up ok. Restarted again (I guess it was a double restart) Booted again alright.
3) Plugged in the AC, computer froze :-\
4) Did a powerbutton hard reboot (5 second hold down)
5) Computer died - I left if at office overnight. (By died i mean wont boot with AC adapter)
6) Computer turned on fine in the AM. Some of my Brother drivers got a little fudged, so I had to reinstall them. Needed a restart (on AC)
7) Didnt restart (black screen)
8) PMU Reset
9) So far so good...

So i have a X-Fi Fatalty Platnum Champion Ed. and a computer with Windows 7.
I've searched the web and i found many people saying that the card it's working and perfectly compatible so i would like to exclude this option as far as the problems that i'm having.
So, right out of the box i've placed the front panel in with the ribbon cable and the power connected to it, then i connected the other end of the ribbon cable and finally placed the card in one of the PCI slots i have free.
Now, when i start my PC, i don't hear any particolar "beep messages" but nothing will come on the screen, in few words my PC will not boot at all. I can hear the HDD spinning, everything sounds normal except for that "little" problem.
So, i re-did all the connections thinking that maybe i did something wrong, but following the instruction i did exactly as told. So i tried again to power up the computer and i've noticed that the X-Fi logo is lit up (red light) and.. I don't really know if that means something or it's just something aside that doesn't really matter.. But, what is it's The PCI card is broken or there's something else?
I did try to disable the sound card (integrated mobo sound) from the BIOS but that didn't change anything. I did try all the software options but this looks like more of an hardware problem (please correct me if i'm wrong and/or i've missed something).
There's something that popped up in my mind.. the PSU. I noticed that i have a 300W PSU (mm.. low, isn't it's)?and i was wondering if that's enough or i need a more powerful one.. and if that's may be the case for the PCI to not work at all causing all i've already explained above. I mean.. It seems like i've installed a dead peripheral and that's impeding the computer to start up..
I don't know.. I need clarification and help, PLEASE.

Look at the beta thread sticked above but good luck waiting for a new driver. That beta driver has been there since January and although better than the normal driver it is still crap.
All the boot type issues are with the SSD but if you getting in game crashes etc... under windows 8 that is simply that the driver stinks.

990fxa gd80 raid 0 problem please help me i am begging you

so i will start with my set up
990fxa dg80 mb
fx 8350 cpu
780ti
8 gig of ram
256 hdd
2x samsung 850 evo
750 hybrid drive
So at this stage all my data is on the 750 hdd and the disk is stored away. my problem started with me buyng 2 mx100 256 ssds . If my bios is set to ide or ahci they work fine i had my windows instaled on 1 of them all woks fine. Once i switch my bios to raid ( before i set up my raid 0) boot up win 7 instalation i do not see any drives ( i know is normal) load the drivers for the raid controler (sb950 for w7 as it says in themanual) and only my 256 hdd shows up but not the ssds . Than i set them up in ld raid 0 same problem . Tryed on another 2 mbs ... 1 same and a gygabite same problem. So i was sure there is a problem with ssds. I got rid of them got 2 new 850 evo 250 gb same problem. please help me i am so desparate i am willing to pay woth body organs for help

I..have a few questions...
1. You set BIOS to the RAID mode, and under that option there's a Board SATA RAID ROM, do you set it as Legacy ROM?
2. Did you enter Ctrl+F to initialize the drives/Delete Array(If they're used SSDs) and create RAID0?
3. Is your Win7 64 bit or 32 bit?
4. I assume it's 64 bit, did you copy the W764 folder for driver loading?

Don't worry, just follow these steps to fix iPhone stuck on Apple logo
=> First of all Start your Computer and then connect with Internet connection, now Download the latest version of the iTunes application
=> Now install the iTunes application in your System and connect your Device with computer via Data cable
=> Now connect your Device with iTunes application and then Tab on summary option, see in the left side bar of iTunes
=> Now Select restore option from iTunes and then confirm the Restore Message for better results. After this unplug your Device and Restart it

3)Opened Repository Administration Utility
Log in as 'repos_manager/repos_manager@orcltest'
Installed Repository.
4) Opened Oracle 9i Designer. I am able to connect
as 'repos_manager/repos_manager@orcltest'
But I am not able to logon as any other user in same database/ any other user in different database. Why?

Please help I have lots and lots of problems with lockups that can happen any time post , bios , loading vista and sometimes during OS. Some times will work ok play games etc. Already tried different combinations fitting the mem modules even tried and some pc4200 modules same problems. Spent lots of hours clocking the mems with different settings but non is stable. I am not interested in overcloking just to make it stable to start with. When is actually running is fine is more than enough for me. Already looked to lots of posts on the msi forum but… Since the cpu is old can I go back on an older bios version???? The Corsair modules have to run at 2.1V or is it possible to use them with slower setting. So confused so lost ….. please HELLPPPPP

please, don't buy any more unneded parts. first find the problem then buy if no solutions available.
One thing I find with BIOS issues is to do a full clear.
1. disconnect the power cord from the power supply(turn switch to off if there is one.
2. hit the power switch to clear the power out of the system.
3. set the cmos jumper to clear and leave there if one is available.
4. Pull the battery.
5. carefully short out the battery connector on the motherboard to drain any power left.
6. press the clear cmos button and hold for 30sec minimum, if you didn't have a jumper to set.
7. replace battery, move jumper back, plug in power cord, turn on power sipply switch.
Now it should hopefully power up. go into BIOS and load optimized results. hit save and exit and when it gets back to the post screen, go back into bios and set your normal MB settings(ie. set boot devices, boot order, disable sound if using sound card, etc...)
go into your H/W Monitor section and list the CPU Vcore settings to make sure it is getting the power it needs. I just looked it up and it's suppose to run from 1.225v - 1.325v.
also, try your most generic ram you have with auto settings. the faster the ram usually the more volts they need and default volts are 1.8v for ram and sometimes faster chips have issues with lower volts.
Let me know how this works for you.

ps. make sure everything is unplugged from the computer you don't need. just cpu, 1 stick of ram, and video. and of course keyboad and mouse. Please make a signature with all your systems specs including make and model numbers. I hate guessing at solutions and I'd hate to see you buy any more unneccessary parts because of lack of information.
