Solaris Login with both Old and New Passwords!!!!!

After password expiration in Solaris we discovered that users can do o/s login into the system both with old and the new password (!!!). I read something about LDAP and Kerberos password synchronization, it is possible???

SolarisSAinPA thanks for your helpfully answer...but before a couple of hours department IT of company where I work answered in my question:
......Solaris 8 and 9 use the old unix cryptographic algorithm, which can encrypt a string of "at most" 8 characters (if you enter a 10-character string, the OS accepts it and then silently throws away the last 2)......

No internet, "PPPoE Server Not Found" message. Same problem with both old and new modems.

My internet connection with my old Westell 6100 modem was working fine, then quit all of the sudden and would not restart. The DSL and Data lights on the Westell modem were both green. The Internet light alternated between red and off.
I tried every troubleshooting thing I could think of:
Powering down and re-starting the modem and computer.
Resetting the modem.
Checking all of the wire and jack connections.
I plugged my computer ethernet cable straight into the modem, bypassing my router.
I tried both Windows and Mac computers.
I plugged the modem directly into the network interface on the outside of my house to bypass all of my house wiring.
I checked all my phone jacks with a telephone tester to make sure both phone lines were working and not reverse-wired.
I made sure I did not have a DSL filter installed on the modem line.
Verizon Tech Support did a line test and told me the line was fine but that there might be a problem with either my modem or something at the "central office" (not sure what that means). Verizon also sent me a new router as well -- a D-Link DSL-2750B.
The new D-Link router also does not connect to the internet (same problem). The DSL, Data, and Internet lights are all green on the D-Link. I have the computer directly connected to the modem with a new ethernet cable. I repeated the above troubleshooting steps. I went into the router configuration 192.168.1.1 and ran the modem's "Internet Troubleshooting" tests.
There were two error messages on the router configuration screens:
1."PPPoE Server not found" error message is shown on the summary screen.
2."No internet infrastructure present. Please call your infrastructure provider." is shown in the "internet troubleshooting" test results.
Verizon had me change some settings inside the router configuration -- no dice. Verizon ran another line test. A "Level 2 Tech" took over the call and told me that he thinks that the cause of the problem is that the outside wiring coming to my house is reverse-wired. How can this be true since my DSL worked for 2 years before this, my phone line tester indicates my phone lines are wired the right way, and my router reports "PPPoE Server Not Found?"
Verizon is sending out a repair tech to check the outside wiring but I don't think that is the problem at all.

If you're getting DSL sync (solid DSL light), this sounds like a case of a bad line card to me. I've seen it happen before where it wasn't an account or route issue to the network.

Problem with both user and cmos password

I have problem with my user and cmos password, can formating clear the passward with remove the cmos battary.

It depends on the model. Formatting will not touch the BIOS or power on passwords but will take away the Windows user password and allow you to have a different one, but will kill all the data on the machine. Removing the CMOS battery might clear the BIOS password and power on password, but on most current laptops even that will not help. The BIOS data is on a chip that holds its contents even when all power is removed.

Lucky me. Both old and new OS on my MB Pro. How do I eliminate the old?

Long story short: Last night, I installed OS 10.5.7 (this is what it shows on the disc and I purchased my MB in 2009) in order to replace my keychain password and now I don't know how to update to the new architecture. "About This Mac" shows the current version as 10.5.8. Prior to this, I was running the most current Version (2011) of OS - I'm not sure what version that was but not Snow Leopard.
I didn't archive (I thought I did but I guess I didn't) but my 2011 files were saved in a folder that was created and titled with the date and time. I can work within my 2011 user settings, primarily, but a few programs will not function (e.g. Apps).
Basically, I just want to run the computer as I did a few days ago.
If anyone has any helpful thoughts, tips or pointers, I would most certainly appreciate it.

If you're also having problems changing the account on your iOS devices, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

Restart holding down the CMD+R keys, launch Disk Utility and erase the HD, quit DU, and restore the OS. On first boot, use the Setup Assistant to do the migration. Details in Pondini's Setup New Mac guide.

I accidently created a new apple account on my new phone, How do I merge my old and new accounts

I had an old account but had lost access to the email. In frustration I created a new account to use with iTunes on windows. Now history repeats itself and I've a new iPhone 4 that I want to load with data from both old and new accounts. Do I need to just go to the Genius bar next time I'm in town or is there some way to log into each account, back up the data and merge to the new account?

Actually not trying to merge the accounts, but back up the DATA i have stored in those accounts. Once I've pulled the many songs I purchased under the old account I'll burn them to something and delete the old account... and I think I've just answered my own question.
i.e. Don't try to merge anything, just salvage music and other data (contacts, notes)

Yes that makes sense, however have you updated it at My Apple ID before trying to change it in your system preferences > iCloud settings, you must do that first.

I've sorted it
All I needed to do was add my old e-mail address - not as the primary but as an alias. This allowed me to delete the account on my iPhone 4S and re-sign in with the correct e-mail address.
Happy now

I have changed both apple i.d and password, now my iphone 4s keeps asking for password to my previous i.d. Previous password and new password wont give me access. What do i do?

Welcome to the Support Communities!
If you have changed your AppleID information or password, you will need to sign out of your existing iCloud or iTunes Store accounts and sign back in with the new information.

Hmmmm... would appear that you need to be actually logged in to enable the additional menu features.
Have you tried deletting the plists for MAS?

You can set up your iCloud account on your iOS device under: "Settings > iCloud" and a other account for store purchases under "Settings > iTunes & App Stores". Unfortunately merging accounts is not possible but you could transfer all of your music manually via iTunes from your Mac or PC.
