Hi, i am having SUN Ultra 2 machine with solaris 9.

thans in advance.

Without opening the case the only way you will know what video card is in your Ultra 2 is to log in as root and enter
# fbconfig -list
This command will display the video system but not the card part number.
The command to change the resolution to 24 bit color, 8 bit color is the default setting, plus the resolution is:
# fbconfig -res 1024x768x60 -depth 24
This command sets the resolution to 1024x768 at a refresh reate of 60hz and the color depth is 24bit.
The command to view the various resolutions for a video card is:
# fbconfig -propt | more
The list is rather long so I included the pipe through more so you can see all of them 1 page at a time.
The command to view the current resolution is:
# fbconfig -list
The command to reset the video resolution back to it's default setting is:
# fbconfig -default
Sun recommends all resolution and color depth changes be done with Xwindow not running. This can be done by either booting into standalone or, from the CDE login prompt select 'command line' from the drop down session menu. Available video memory can restrict the color depth
The part number for the video card is located on the video cards plug. It normally is written on an orange label and pressed onto the video cards plug.
The 3 possible low resolution video card that may come with the Ultra 2 are:
1. TurboGX 8-Bit Frame Buffer
2. TurboGXplus 8-Bit Frame Buffer
3. SunVideo Board
If you have a default low end video card, you can upgrade to a FFB2. However, it's important for you to know that is not all FFB2's will work in an Ultra 2 with a single or dual 300mhz processor. My advice is for your to review the system handbook manual for the Ultra 2 available on www.sunsolve.sun.com. This manual can be downloaded as a pdf file and read off-line.
To recap, the only way to know what type of video card you have installed in your Ultra 2 is to open the case and look at the video card itself. Copy down the part number which should start with '501' and then cross reference this Sun part number with the information contained on Sun Solve's handbook pages for the Ultra 2. To assist you getting to the Sun Solve Handbook page for the Ultra 2 I have included the url link.

  • Display resolution settings not storing since upgrading monitors

We have (2) Mac Pros and since upgrading to larger monitors we have been having issues with the resolution settings not "storing" in display preferences. The computer setups are slightly different, and the monitor sizes and make/models are both different, but the problems are the same:
    1) Mac Pro DVI out > VGA switcher > Monitor VGA input
    2) Mac Pro DVI out > VGA switcher > DVI switcher > Monitor DVI input
(*Note - I know this whole setup seems ridiculous, but it's the way each of the rooms were hard-wired)
With both machines the problems intermittently vary from the resolution itself changing at random when turning on the machine each day, to the desktop background being about 2/3 the size of the screen, while all of the icons and rest of the desktop being normal sized/extended to the edges of the monitor as it should.
It seems that if we change resolution to anything else, and then change back to the desired resolution, that usually solves the problem.
Does anyone know why these settings won't save?
(*Note - we recently upgraded to Lion, but the issue was there before and after the upgrade.)

You must close the window and save changes to keep them.
You may have a problem with Disk Permissions -- the file may not be available to you for writing.

  • I need  a symbol to remain center screen on my web page no matter the screen resolution settings.

Im trying to create an animation with functions inside a symbol. I need the symbol settings to remain seprate from the other settings of other items on the page such as "stage" and "background image" which are set to %  height.width, longitude, latitude . It is important that the symbol stays in the center of the screen. I also need this symbol to always remain in the center of the screen no matter screen resolution settings  that are likly range from 1360x768 to 1920x1080.

    Hi there,
I solved the problem. but by solving the problem with centering the symbol on the stage I created another one, a very strange problem.
Firstly the solving of centering problem:
I left all settings of the symbol by px, (means no responsive layout), set 0 px o for position, and wrote a css which then centered the symbol on the stage,
    sym.$("products").css({
       margin : 'auto',
       position: 'relative'
here how does it look in edge:
The symbol products is behaving just as supposed. The problem I created and which I don#t understand at all: I created another symbol (news) made the very same adjustments, but the symbol is not positioned as supposed. (of course I change the name of symbol in css). What the heck???
Anyone any idea why this is happening?

  • Changing resolution settings in OfficeJet

    Hi everyone.
I'm scanning a few old family pictures, size is approximately 5x3 inch.
The scanned picture I get is very small, 900x600 give or take.
I need to print those pictures in a photobook and this size is way too small.
Is there a way to get bigger pictures?
I tried to increase the resolution, up to 9600, but the result is the same.
    Thank you.

  • Screen Resolution settings on T61P

    Hi,
Has anyone adjusted the screen resolutions settings on their T61P from 1680X1050 to 1440X900, or even lower? If so, does everything still look crip and clear at 1440X900?
I have the need, as do others at work to be able to drop the resolution a bit for various reasons.
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your tips..I run XP and it is not very clear if I lower the resolution to get a larger font   I also do not have very good eyesight so this is a pain....on my old Dell laptop I could use the CTRL + scroll the mouse to enlarge the screen....on my T61 (no mouse) I do not know how to do the same thing...any other tips?

  • Alternative Resolution Settings

    Hi there
I am running an iMac 24". The highest resolution settings are:
    1344 x 840
    1920 x 1200
Ideally, I would like a setting that site inbetween, but I do not appear to have the option. Can anyone tell me if this is possible?
    Many thanks.
    Stuart

Browsers render based on pixel dimensions, not ppi. So, assuming that
you maintain the pixel dimensions and just alter the ppi, nothing will
    happen to the file size.
If however you alter the resolution and let Fireworks scale the file,
then yes, the file size will change, and the image quality will also
change, generally not for the better.

  • Solaris TCP settings

    Hi all,
I remember there was a recommendation for the Solaris TCP settings like
tcp_time_wait_interval and tcp_conn_req_max_q. I can't seem to find it now.
Is it still relevant? If so where? I have heard that it is nolonger required

    Lucio,
If you are using Solaris - then I strongly recommend this document -

  • Does Frequently Toggling Between Screen Resolution Settings Harm PowerBook?

Does Frequently Toggling Between Screen Resolution Settings Harm PowerBook?
Since the 12" screen real estate is both limited and sometimes difficult to see (email, etc.), I often toggle (6-12 x a day) between screen resolution settings on a 12" G4 PowerBook (1.5GHz, 768MB RAM). Can anyone please confirm whether or not this harms the video, screen, motherboard, etc., in anyway?
I'd hoped to avoid buying an 17" LCD monitor to address this concern, but would do so if this shortens the lifespan of the PowerBook in any way.
Thanks in advance for any technical expertise on this topic.

this will have zero impact on your computer (other than perhaps adding to the wear on your keyboard?)....

  • Canon pixma pro 9000II printing - color management and resolution settings

    1) is the printer color management automatically turned off when I select the paper in the color management profile drop down? Or do I need to do something else as well?
    2) a little bit of a newbie question, but I'm wondering what resolution to select (for presentation prints) - auto or 300 dpi. And again in the print dialogue box (under "quality and media"), whether to use high or standard. Wondering what to match with what, etc.
    Thanks.

The answer to the first question appears to be yes. ColorSync is automatically enabled, and Canon Color Matching is automatically disabled.
Some tips on the second question would still be helpful, however. Again, I'm curious about matching Aperture "print resolution" settings (auto, 300, 72, or custom) to the print dialogue "print quality" settings (high, standard, etc.) under the "quality and media."

  • What resolution settings should I use for 13" MBPr?

I've been reading several reviews and online guides suggesting various setting for the MBPr 13". I'm sure this has been asked a billion times, but have most people agreed that keeping the resolution set to "best for retina" really best for the retina? Is there any overall consensus? Or does it really just come down to user preference?

No other adjustments need to be made. DV, whether it be progressive or interlaced...both play at 29.97 and are DV/NTSC (if shot with an NTSC camera).
I can shoot interlaced with my Canon GL1 and use the same capture settings as someone who shot 24P (NOT 24PA) with a DVX-100a.

  • Changing Resolution Settings Within Project

    Hi Guys,
    Ok, here's my problem.....
I have captured my footage at 1920 x 1080 25fps and 48Khz with my Canon DSLR and imported it into my FCP project.  I deliberately created my sequence settings at 1280 x 720 25fps as this was to be the output format and when I added the 1920 footage to the timeline, FCP asks me nicely if I would like to change the sequence settings to match the footage - to which I politely decline (mistake, I know now...)
This had the effect of scaling down my 1920 footage to 1280, which was fine.  The issue I now have is when I want to export it as a reference movie for DVD creation, it takes hours as the reference movie is taking the settings from the project, which is 1280 x 720 and my footage is still 1920, which means lots of re-rendering to do.  Took me ages to figure out why the ref movies were taking so long to export!
So I have been trying to figure out a way to somehow change all of my completed timeline that consists of 1920 x 1080 footage downscaled to fit in my 1280 x 720 timeline back to full 1920.  Still with me??
I have tried manually resizing the individual clips using their Motion tab (they are at 66.6% now as they are squeezed into a 1280 x 720 timeline) back to 100% which works, but leaves me with e green proxy render bar above the clip.  The same happens when I copy and paste the footage into a fresh sequence set to match the clip at 1920 - green proxy render bar and loads of rendering time.
So if there is any way I can grab my completed, edited timeline and somehow revert it and the footage back to full 1920 resolution, it would save me a load of time in rendering and output!
    Anyone any ideas??

    Hi Tom,
Thanks for youe suggestion.  I did just that an the only discrepancy I can see between the footage and sequence settings seems to be in the audio format.  The sequence is 32 bit floating point whilst the footage is 16 bit integer.
I can's imagine this will be the problem as if I start a new project and use the full 1980 clips,  I can export reference files no problem.

  • Changing resolution settings

I have film that is 1920x1080 and is very good quality. I don't want people to only be able to play this in a hd player, but I want to preserve the quality. I have 8.5gb discs (enough to accommodate the film 7.5gb). When I set the settings to sd however, you can only choose one resolution setting. I want this to look good on a 40 inch screen and don't want to lose quality. When I try to import the .mov file into dvd studio pro, it comes up with a meesage "incompatible format" or "file type not supported". HELP!
    thanks

You are best off using Compressor or other encoder to compress to SD m2v format and make the audio AC3 (saves space/bandwidth)
    Take a look here
    http://dvdstepbystep.com/faqs_7.php
    and here
    http://dvdstepbystep.com/qc.php
for more info to start on how to calculate rates and set up Compressor (also bitVice -www.innobits.se and MegaPEG.X Pro -Digigami - www.Digigam.comi are two other encoders/companies to look at for encoders that run natively on the Mac that do a good job)

  • Preventing screen resolution settings changing when connecting a beamer

I do a lot of presentations and every time I connect a beamer (not my own, one that is in the hotel or conference room, so different models every time) my MBP screen settings go often haywire.
My screen resolution on the MBP 15' (OS SL) is set at 1680x1050 (high resolution screen).
As said it does not hold as soon as I connect a beamer and at times the setting is not even available any more, at other times all of a sudden I have dozens more settings, etc. This is of course, to say the least, annoying, and sometimes I spend 10 or more minutes to get my screen to behave in a workable fashion.
Result is that my resolution on my screen become unworkable as (mostly) it defaults to real big resolution (and as such big script) that makes lots of items on the top bar 'invisible' (they fall of the screen).
Is there any trick to prevent this from happening?
    Thanks.

How is this remotely the same problem? The original poster is having resolution problems with projectors. You have an LCD tablet that isn't showing an image. This is thread hijacking, however much you don't want it to be. You need to go start your own topic for this.
Excuse you, it's the same problem because my Cintiq has a problem taking in the screen resolution, which is why I'm not getting it to display properly. I explained it before, so if you can't read it, then that's your problem, and not mine. Even if you think it's a different problem, you don't have to be so rude to me. I'm not hijacking the thread, I'm just saying that I think it's a OS issue, and I don't see the point in making another one if I'm going to get a response along the lines of how there's already another thread that's similar.
And now, I might add, you've officially completely derailed this conversation. Because instead of it being about the OP's problem, you've made it an attack on my character, which I consider an attempt to start drama. If you consider my post to be insignificant, then you could have just as easily ignored it. You've not only wasted my time for hoping someone would at least give me an answer, but you've wasted your own for hardly contributing to the conversation in a positive manner.
    Get off your high horse.

  • Apple TV resolution settings

I connected my Apple TV to my Onkyo receiver using an HDMI cable, and connected the receiver to my Mitsubishi TV using another HDMI cable. I've set the TV resolution setting on the Apple TV to 1080i, to match the TV's native resolution. When I check to see what resolution the TV is getting when I select the Apple TV as the source, I always get 480P. I've double checked the settings on the Apple TV, and they are correctly set to 1080i. I don't have this problem with the other devices connected by HDMI to the receiver. What else do I need to do to get higher resolution video from the Apple TV?

Complex question, probably more than you want to know:
    http://ezinearticles.com/?720p-Vs-1080i-HDTV&id=91443
720p 50Hz is used in PAL and SECAM countries; presuming you're in the US you'll want to stick with just 720p.
Some TVs can only display 1080i -- not 720p -- which is partly why that option is there. If your set supports 720p -- and it probably does -- that that's likely the best resolution for you.

  • Dynadock display resolution settings reverse to 640x480

I have just very easily installed my VGA dynadock and have one thing I can't find a solution.
My 19" TFT is set to 1280 x 1024 and the Dynadock to 640 x 480. Other resolutions being offered but whatever I select and OK or Apply, both these settings immediaitely revert to the originals and the screen resolution leaves a lot to be desired.
    The USB ports are 2.0.
    Can you help?

    Hi
May I ask if you use the newest software for Dynadock???
The newest Dynadock software (drivers, tools, etc..) can be download from the Toshiba European page.
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp
    On the download form choose:
    - Options
    - USB options
    - Dynadock
    - right part number
    - right OS
If you want to install the newest software you should firstly remove the old one from the OS. Disconnect firstly the dynadock and remove all dynadock drivers, tools, etc
The reboot the notebook and connect the dynadock again.
The installation setup will ask for the drivers and in this case you should install the newest software.
    Best regards
