Solaris v10 sparc jumpstart server on x86 solaris - can't find miniroot.

I am trying to setup a jumpstart install server on an x86 solaris v10 machine to do a sparc network install. I downloaded both the CD and DVD sparc v10 ISO's. When I mount the CD, the Solaris_10/Tools/Boot directory (miniroot system) is symlinked back to ../../../s1 which does exist. I can't find it on the CD, I've used prtvtoc and this slice does not seem to exist.
On the DVD iso, the directoy exists, but many files cannot be read, almost like the filesystem is corrupt.
I've download these ISO and burned them many times, so I know it's not an issue with hardware or the CD/DVD media.
Where can I download a working sparc solaris v10 miniroot system?

There is no such entry under solaris. This entry only exist on windows.
On solaris you need to change entries in the kjs script (prior to SP3)
or iasenv.ksh (after SP3)

    Try resetting your proxy server. Go to Tools, Options, Advanced, Settings and select one. I must do this every time I restart Firefox -- but at least after that, I'm okay until the next restart.

  • Solaris 10 SPARC DHCP Server causing disconnects every hour

    I am using Solaris 10 SPARC (Netra X1) as a router (DHCP/NAT)
    I'm running the built-in dhcp-server with the following in /etc/inet/dhcpsvc.conf
    DAEMON_ENABLED=TRUE
    RESOURCE=SUNWfiles
    RUN_MODE=server
    PATH=/var/dhcp
    CONVER=1
    HOSTS_RESOURCE=files
    ICMP_VERIFY=false
    INTERFACES=dmfe1
    LOGGING_FACILITY=1
    VERBOSE=TRUEI have made an entry for my MAC address
    # pntadm -P 192.168.1.0 | grep 192.168.1.218
    010026B9B29555  00      192.168.1.218   <MY IP>    Zero                            UNKNOWNHowever, if I rely on DHCP I get disconnected for a few seconds every hour exactly. All my SSH connections drop and I get disconnected from any IRC server I am on.
    If I set my client to a static IP this issue disappears, which leads me to believe it's DHCP who is the culprit here.
    Does anyone have any suggestions? From the pntadm output "Zero" should mean the lease never expires, right?
    Thanks

    A 64 bit VM is not necessarily faster than a 32 bit one. I remember at least on suggestion that it could be slower.
    Make sure you use the -server option.
    As a guess IBM isn't necessarily a slouch when it comes to Java. It might simply be that their VM was faster. Could have used a different dom library as well.
    Could be an environment problem of course.
    Profiling the application and the machine as well might provide information.

  • Why the hell do I keep getting this friggin' error msg"Server not found Firefox can't find the server at .................." ?

    Done all suggestions in online help (windows firewall settings, updates, ect.) No problem with IE8 with same webpages.

    I'm looking for a solution for the "Server Not Found message I keep getting repeatedly, and this thread does not provide a solution.
    However, I had to sign in to say that the "Reset Firefox" feature should never be presented as a first solution to any problem. It's a last resort, not first resort. Doing so is lazy thinking and reckless, especially when dealing with users who may be newbies or inexperienced, or who may not read instructions so carefully and understand the ramifications of wiping their settings and customizations.
    There are plenty of articles and Knowledge Base entries that touch upon this user's problem, so why wasn't he directed to those, or at least the invariable "Open in safe Mode", before suggesting such a drastic "solution"?

    Hi Kenn,
    Based on the error message, this issue can occur if SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2012 service account doesn’t have permission to access the log file, please refer to the detail steps on the following documents to configure file system permissions for database

  • Can I modify jumpstart server boot image to support another LAN card?

    I tried to install Solaris 9 from jumpstart server. However, Solaris 9 does not support my on-board LAN Card. As a result, I try to install Solaris 10 beta 55 from jumpstart server. It is a good news to me that Solaris 10 beta 55 does support "Intel 82801DB PRO/100 VE Ethernet". The installation is successfull. However, there is a problem when I install Windows XP on another DOS partition. I have no idea why the installation of MS Windows XP will crash the Solaris 10 beta 55 partition. Durning boot process in Solaris 10, There are a lot of Solaris partition errors. It is not a good idea to install Solaris 10 until the release comes out.
    I think that it should be possible to modify Solaris 9 jumpstart server so that I can use Solaris 10 beta cd to kick up LAN driver and call Solaris 9 jumpstart server to install the OS.

    You can use a "prestart command". It can be configured in the properties of each boot image, 'customization' tab.

  • Upgrading Solaris 8 to Solaris 10 on SUN Sparc E2900 server

    Hi,
    We have a Sparc E2900 server which has Solaris 8 & Veritas Volume Manager 4.0. UFS & VXFS filesystems are under Veritas control.
    We are planning to upgrade Solaris 8 to Solaris 10.
    My questions are as follows
    1) Can we upgrade from Solaris 8 to Solaris 10 directly ?
    2) If Yes does Solaris 10 support Veritas Filesystem ?
    3) Which is the best site to get information regarding upgradation ?
    Regards,
    Tejas J Raval

    2) If Yes does Solaris 10 support Veritas Filesystem ?No, it dows not. If you want to use VxFS you still need to have Veritas products installed on this server

  • Installing Solaris 9 and Solaris 10 using one JumpStart server

    Hi All,
    Is there any possibility to install both Solaris 9 and Solaris 10 using only one JumpStart server?
    Also it could be performed using flash archives?
    Thanks in andvice,
    Daniel

    Actually I do not understand how it will work
    together.
    Maybe I will describe my point of view.
    I have Solaris 10 with JumpStart server which is
    configured and works fine.
    So the next step to have Solaris 9 installation is:
    * copy Solaris 9 OS boot and installation image to
    the local disk using setup_install_server
    Q: If this script fails what to do?setup_install_server should work fine unless you're installing on a ZFS filesystem. Part of the script is checking for sufficient disk space. I think the script may not work properly in all situations with ZFS.
    * run add_install_client script from the Solaris 9
    installation directory
    Q: do I need to do any other changes?Nope. Assuming you're already running tftp for the Solaris 10 stuff, nothing has to be enabled.
    So I have two OS on the JumpStart server that I can
    choose to install.Yes.
    JumpStart is configured to install Solaris 10. If I
    would like to install Solaris 9 on the same machine
    should I only run add_install_client script from the
    Solaris 9 installation directory?If everything works right, that should remove the older entry from the bootparams database and the machine will jumpstart with Solaris 9.
