Solaris version that RAID Manager 6.22.1 supported

I am currently running Solaris 9 operating environment, I would like to know if RAID Manager 6.22.1 supports Solaris 9.
When I search in SUN website, one page mentioned that RM 6.22.1 supports Solaris 9(http://www.sun.com/storage/disk-drives/raid.html) while the other page is different (http://www.sun.com/storage/software/raid_manager.html).
If anyone has RM 6.22.1 running on Solaris 9, please tell me. Thanks in advance.

Yes it work fine.
Just make sure the firmware and patches are up-to date to avoid problems.

  • Solaris 10 raid manager GUI?

Is there still some kind of GUI available to the LVM metatools included in Solaris 10?
I do recall using 'disktool' from the Solstice Disk Suite back on Solaris 8, where the whole raid features were still an expensive seperate product, but that doesn't seem to exist anymore.
Hand-editing md.tab and fiddling around with the various meta-commands gets a bit tedious when managing large storage environments.
I found that in Solstice this was the package SUNWmdg, which isn't present on my Solaris 9 or 10 install media or companion discs.

The SMC is included in my S10 installations as well.. wanted to try it out right now, but keeps complaining that the management server is not running.
Will have to dig around in the docs to find which service to enable.. has probably been killed by the jass hardening.
Doesn't seem to be any of the services named *-management, though.. got those all running.

  • What's the biggest .tiff size fill that Version 10 can manage

What's the biggest .tiff size fill that Version 10 can manage, since Version 9 does'nt like anything over 27.MB

    MTSTUNER,
I remember us talking about Adobe documenting the maximum file sizes, and I just found this while browsing on the Photoshop Developer's site (http://www.adobe.com/devnet-apps/photoshop/fileformatashtml/).  It's a description of the PSD file header information:
    File Header Section
The file header contains the basic properties of the image.
    Length
    Description
    4
Signature: always equal to '8BPS' . Do not try to read the file if the signature does not match this value.
    2
Version: always equal to 1. Do not try to read the file if the version does not match this value. (**PSB** version is 2.)
    6
    Reserved: must be zero.
    2
The number of channels in the image, including any alpha channels. Supported range is 1 to 56.
    4
The height of the image in pixels. Supported range is 1 to 30,000.
    (**PSB** max of 300,000.)
    4
The width of the image in pixels. Supported range is 1 to 30,000.
    (*PSB** max of 300,000)
    2
Depth: the number of bits per channel. Supported values are 1, 8, 16 and 32.
    2
    The color mode of the file. Supported values are: Bitmap = 0; Grayscale = 1; Indexed = 2; RGB = 3; CMYK = 4; Multichannel = 7; Duotone = 8; Lab = 9.
    So it's not surprising that PSE's max is 30K x 30K.

  • RAID MANAGER for X86?

I am currently working on a project , in which I am connecting an x86 W1100Z Sun server, running Solaris 10, to an A1000 through using an LM320 Dual SCSI card.
The theory is to use SAMBA to share the A1000's file systems across a network consisting of Solaris and Windows hosts.
Despite the proper connection (and termination) of the A1000 to the SCSI card , I am unable to see the A1000 from the "format" command.
I am also unable to find a copy of RAID Manager 6.22.1 which will run on an x86 architecture.
Can someone please advise on how to proceed?
    Thanks.

    Thanks for the info.
I know that Sun doesn't support A1000 any more, and that it is old-school (plus isn't supported on Solaris 10). However, just 'cos it ain't supported, don't mean it doesn't work!!!!
I had the same A1000 hooked onto the same W1100Z, running Windows Server 2003 and it had no problems seeing it (as a JBOD rather than a RAID, but that's not really a problem once you set up the A1000 to manage itself).
I just find it very hard to believe that there would be a curcumstance where Windows could do something / support something that Solaris doesn't!!!!
I'll try hooking the A1000 onto one on my v880's and re-configuring it as RAID 5 using RM6.22.1, then attach it to the W1100Z and see what happens there.
Any more advice would still be appreciated.

  • RAID manager failed!!!!!!!!!!!

    hi,
i installed the RAID manager on my server Enterprise 220R, but during the installation it gave me this error:

i have SrorEDGE A1000 connected to the server
PS:at the back panel of the A1000 the "controller active" LED is on..so it whould work, no?!!!
    any advice??
    Thanks.

    Hello,
the A1000 isn't supported under Solaris 10 (by Sun, under service contract, ...), but works.
Rainer Orth and Fredrik Lundholm posted instructions on comp.unix.solaris. This an except from the post
    Fredrik Lundholm < ... > wrote:
RDAC stands for Redundant Disk Array Controller Support, and is only
needed for path failover on RSM2000/A3000/A3500/A3500FC. Since A1000
only has a single controller it is not needed. rm6 talks to the A1000
through Lun 0.I had complained loudly during Solaris 10 Platinum Beta when I first
learned about removal of RM6/A1000 support in S10 FCS *without any
appropriate prior notice (i.e.: EOL notices) in S9 Release Notes*.
Unfortunately, this didn't help to bring the support back, but my support
engineer quickly determined that RM6 runs just fine with an A1000.
I later learned that the claimed reason for support removal was that the
A1000 itself had been EOLed before S10 went FCS.
Perhaps in some cases RM6 is looking for the RDAC paths in order to
determine where the modules are? So while the driver isn't technically
required it can still cause issues by its absence? The rdriver won't load in S10:

But since rdriver and rdnexus are only needed for RDAC (which doesn't do anything useful with the single-controller A1000), I just rem_drv'ed both and disabled RDAC support in /etc/osa/rmparams,
as I had already done in S8:

This way, an A1000 works just fine when connected to an E3000 with 4 x 167 MHz UltraSPARC I CPUs running Solaris Express Build 33, including arraymon and the RM6 GUI and CLI interfaces :-)
I'm actually using it for some ZFS testing, which works amazingly well, considering the old and slow hardware.
    Hope this helps.

The instructions worked for me. I did remove the two forceloads (rdriver, rdnexus) in /etc/system as well.
Sideeffect: These changes removed the long delay (about 5-10 minutes) during boot Solaris 9/Solaris 10 too.

  • Please need help with RAID Manager (+)

    Good day
Could someone give me advice is it possible to organize RAID-5 under Solaris 5.7?
I use SUN SPARC Enterprise 250 with four USCSI HDDs (Seagate 18Gb/10k).
One of the hardware requirments for RAID Manager is:
RAID modules with two A3x00 controllers.
I suppose if I use SCSI - A3x00 controllers are already there? Or I missed something and this should be shipped separately? Is there any way to check are there any A3x00 controllers in my system?
Thanks a lot and happy holidays!
    Regards,
    Roman

    Hi Roman,
The Raid Manager software is specifically for managing some of Sun's external storage arrays, namely the A1000, A3000 & A3500. Raid Manager will be of no use for the internal disks in the Ultra Enterprise 250. What you should be looking at is DiskSuite which is software based RAID that is supplied with Solaris 8. You will find great documentation for Disksuite installation and usage on http://docs.sun.com

  • Commandline for RAID manager

I have a Solaris 8 System that has a Sun A1000 attached to it. Every thing I read says to use the RAID manager to mange it. Because it was already installed before I came on the scene, I don't know any specifics.
This is a remote system therefore using the RAID manager 6 GUI isn't an option. Is there a commandline (or equivelent software)?

    Hello Leon,
please review the <b>Sun StorEdge RAID Manager 6.22 User's Guide</b> for a description of the commandline interface.

  • Adaptec RAID management tool

Three months ago I bought P1-102A2M barebone server, which have Adaptec SATA RAID feature. I have installed Windows 2003 SBS SP1 with Adaptec RAID Manager Browser Edition from MSI server installation CD. All is fully functional.
Because of good experience with that server I bought another one this week. It is completely same server as the first one with same OS. But installation CD (which looks absolutely same) does NOT have Adaptec RAID manager. Why? RAID is useless without it. It even doesn’t rebuild after disk failure!
I tried to install Adaptec RAID manager from old installation CD. Instalation completed successfully but the service didn’t start after reboot. (Service terminated unexpectly).
Do somebody knows how to rebuild degraded Adaptec SATA RAID without restarting and waiting 2.5 hours. I cannot afford so long time on server.
                            Viktor Placek

Oh, this one. Yes they are exactly the same. Quit strange is, that I bought both servers as MS-9249. But on the motherboard is MS-9149 (version 1.0)

  • LaCie Raid manager unable to access localhost:8845 in OS X server Yosemite

I am running OS X server Yosemite. I have an external LaCie RAID Storage box. The RAID manager software that comes with the LaCie communicates settings by accessing the hardware via a web browser (ie. localhost:8845). I am able to access this port on my macbook pro just running OS X Yosemite but when I plug the hardware into my OS X server, that access is blocked.
Can anyone provide me with instructions to allow browser connection to the localhost.  I assume it is an apache2 problem. But maybe that is just my guess.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
Got a reply from LaCie, they are aware of this problem and are working on a permanent fix. In the meanwhile I got a zip file, which contained a terminal.command file from which I have posted the code here, you need to save that file as an executable so you can run it.

  • I need to upgrade the silverlight version that is deployed with the SCCM 2012 client installation

We have SCCM 2012 SP1 installed and I need to upgrade the version of silverlight that get installed on the client deployement.
The version that is automaticly deployed is 5.1.10411.0 and this one is not compatible with Firefox.  When you click on Application Catalog it start the browser but it fails to load because of the silverlight plug-in that is not up to date.  The
version that is working fine is the 5.1.20913.0 and it's already installed on my SCCM site server.
So that is why I'm looking to upgrade the silverlight that is installed with the SCCM client.
I know that a simple workarround would be to create a package that would be deployed after the client gets installed, but why not changing the original package at the source instead of installing twice the same software the get the right version!
Is there someone that could point me where I could upgrade this Silverlight prerequirement software version ?

Note that I have not tested either of these and they will not be supported by Microsoft.
    1. Copy your new version of Silverlight.exe to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\Client\i386
(you'll have to re-distribute the client package after this).
    OR
    2. You could edit the ccmsetup.xml file with an alternative location for silverlight.exe

  • How do I get rid of the new version that will not permit me to choose my search engine?

I just want my old version that functions properly back. I can no longer choose search engines. Can't search Amazon or Ebay. Don't want to install work arounds on my computer.

hello acronshaw, all your search providers will appear once you start typing a search term into the search bar...
this has been a change in the search bar in firefox 34 - the new behaviour will make it easier to set one single default search engine but to use different providers on a one-off basis. its workings are explained in [[Search bar - add, change and manage search engines on Firefox]]

  • How do I share to a Facebook page (that I manage)?

    Hi there,
Is there a way to SHARE / export directly to a Facebook page that I manage?
I'm currently having to export a master file (which isn't optimised for Facebook/web), and then upload it to one of the many FB Pages I manage. Would be great if FCPX would allow us to add multiple Share/Export Destinations that include the Pages we manage.
If this feature is already in place, please help me out, because I can't find it!
    Cheers,
    James

    Hi CaptainGoodThrust,
It sounds like what you want is in the File > Share menu, or the Share pop-up menu.
Final Cut Pro X: Sharing projects overview
Final Cut Pro provides a variety of destinations, or preconfigured export settings, that you can use to output your project or clip. For example, you can export a project or clip as a QuickTime movie, export it for viewing on Apple devices such as iPhone and iPad, publish it to websites such as Facebook and YouTube, or burn it to a disc. You can also save a frame from your movie or export an image sequence. Each of these options uses a different destination.
When you first open Final Cut Pro, a default set of destinations appears in the Share submenu of the File menu and in the Share pop-up menu.
It goes on to say the destinations are customizable.
You can easily add destinations or replace the default set of destinations with your own customized destinations. For example, if you want to save a frame from your movie as a Photoshop file, you need to add the Save Current Frame destination to your set and specify that the destination export a Photoshop file. You create and modify destinations in the Destinations pane of Final Cut Pro preferences.
You can also create a bundle of destinations to export several types of output at once. For more information, see Create and modify share destinations.
The default destination is Master File. You can quickly share to that destination by pressing Command-E. To change which destination is the default (and will be activated by that keyboard shortcut), see Create and modify share destinations.
To further customize your output, you can use Compressor, the professional transcoding application. For more information, see Export your project using Compressor.
Start SiteCatalyst code version: H.8. End SiteCatalyst code version: H.8.
    Hope that helps,
    Nubz
