Solaris11 : binary backward compatibilty for old SPARC systems

We have some decomisisoned SPARC servers that can be used for test & dev, but these are too "old".
V490, V880, V890 does not support Solaris 11.
What happened to binary backward compatibilty?
Oracle sales people commend binary backward compatibility, but I do not get this...

To the best of my recollection, "binary compatibility" only refers to software, not to hardware.
If you had a program or an application that ran on those systems when you had Solaris 9 or Solaris 10 on them, then the same program(s) will install and run on a system that uses Solaris 11.
For example from a tiotally different part of the computer Universe ---
I dare you to install Microsoft Windows XP to a computer that happens to have an ISA expansion slot and have that OS recognize the existence of the slot (let alone any cards installed to that ISA slot).

The System and Finder Icons you want were used in each System release up to System 6.0.8.
All the System releases are available to download from the Apple website, under "Older Downloads".
There also used to be a HyperCard stack out there stuffed with a collection of icons.
Use ResEdit to open the ICON or icn# resources and copy the icons.

Any hope for old operating systems?

Don't laugh but I am still running MacOSX.4.11 on my antique G3 laptop. Is there any way I can get it to talk to my nice new iPhone4? An App perhaps? I find the only thing I can do is download photos from it into iPhoto, but not the other way round. And nothing else works - no iTunes, no Bluetooth, nada. Help?

Your only option is to upgrade to Leopard (10.5) or use a computer that meets the necessary system requirements.

Since your Mac probably came with 10.4, there is no longer a way to get 10.5 Leopard install media. IF it has the requirements, you may be able to upgrade to 10.6 Snow Leopard by buying the boxed install media at the Apple Store for $30.

If you have the two allotted activations already and one was lost on the hard drive that failed then you need to contact Adobe Support thru chat and ask them to reset your activations.

I want to test Oracle VM for Sparc System but I don't have new model Server to test it. What is the best practice of Oracle VM for Sparc System?
I have a Dell laptop which has spec as below:
-Intel® CoreTM i7-2640M
(2.8GHz, 4MB cache)
- Ram: 8GB DDR3
- HDD: 750GB
-1GB AMD Radeon
I want to install Oracle VM VirtualBox on my laptop and then install Oracle VM for Sparc System in Virtual Box, is it possible?

Need to know which newer one, some cannot run 10.2.x.
One solution might be to clone the 10.2.8 Drive to another drive, then Install a later OS on it Preserving Users & Settings.
Best way to get an exact bootable copy of your old drive to the new one is with Carbon Copy Cloner...

Open the APP store and download Mavericks.
You didnt buy a "clearance" item, you just got an Air that was there at the shop before Mavericks was released.
There is no difference other than a 40 min. download.

Hi,
Providing that the old 3.5" floppies are 1.44 MB HD disks, you should be able to use a USB floppy drive.
However, if the disks are 2DD/DSDD in the 800K Mac format a USB drive is not going to work. In this case you would need a suitable semi-old Macintosh computer with a built-in floppy drive as an intermediary.

System Requirements
The Java 2 SDK is intended for use on Microsoft Windows

Issue in retrival of Old Appraisal system template

Currently i am facing a problem in ESS/MSS regarding extracting old appraisal template.the scenario is currently old and new (objective setting and appraisal ) both are available at server . i activated old appraisal system but again system is no extracting appraisal data of the subordinates ,using path data Mss -> Team - > Personnel development -> Appraisals .
then i created an iview with BSP using HAP_Document but system is extracting new appraisal templete rather than old one.
Please let me know the solution as it is an urgent .

I took the follwoing steps
1. In the customization i use the subcomponent Appraisal Systems, this corresponds to the switch position <SPACE>.
2. in the portal content i create a new iview using template BSP based view, i gave the BSP application name : HAP_Document and start page name : Documents_todo.htm (for create purpose) , Documents_recieved_open (for display purpose)
3. in the customization i define the Iview path .
then execute the system , in the case of creation system showing new appraisal templates and in the case of view system is not showing the appraisals against employees .
Please advise wht to do .

Im a new Mac user. I currently just bought a new MacBook Pro. The first computer I got apparently had a problem with the flex, so I had to go change it for a new one. The first one had the latest operating system, the second one the store gave me didn't, yet it's still a brand new computer, so I don't see why I should have to pay for the new operating system, which should already come with my brand new computer. So I am trying to contact apple so they may give me permission to download it from the app store for free, due to this inconvenience and first bad experience. The vendor tells me that sometimes new computers may come with old operating systems because they're from an old batch of new computers. Oh and by the way, I'm from Honduras, and bought it at Jetstereo, in Tegucigalpa (the capital). This store is a licensed distributor.
