  • Lemode-mgz redirect and minor question about Macbook Air

First off, I just want to say that I've seen other threads about this same website, but none concerning my device. So just to be safe...
Heres some background knowledge. The next paragraph down will contain my actual question.
It was around 2:00 a.m., and according to my iPhone, it was January 5th. I'm someone who's been trying to get competitive in the new game Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, right? So I was looking up information on the character Olimar from the previous installment in the Super Smash Bros. series. The website I went to was supersmashbros.wiki.com. So, I'm looking up this information on different statistics of the character Olimar, and all of a sudden I go to "lemode-mgz.com," and I'm confronted with some article with a page title of "Doctor Oz Miracle Anti-Aging Treatment." And so I shut off my phone and go to sleep. In the morning I find that my iPhone says that I have website data for "track.securevoluum.com," a website I've never been to. Now when I type "tr" in safari, it says that track.securevoluum.com is now the URL of "Doctor Oz Miracle Anti-Aging Treatment," but yet my history says that the URL is still "lemode-mgz.com." I deleted my website data after that in system settings, so track.securevoluum doesn't appear in my website data. I haven't deleted my history though.
So my question is, did my phone get some of worm virus? I haven't really used Safari since that incident, but in the times I did, that website didn't pop up again. Also, if the iPhone is all foolproof virus free, why did the redirect happen in the first place? I'm using an iPhone 5c, version 8.0.2. And no, my phone is not jailbroken.  I believe it is refurbished though, so that may contribute to an answer.
And if anyone would bother to answer this question, do Mac book Airs get Adware? For I visited the website smashboards.com, and it had some really sketchy Ads...I didn't click on any of them though. But when I go to Youtube occasionally some also sketchy looking Ads appear.

IF your phone isn't jailbroken then your phone doesn't have a worm virus.
As far as your MAC I don't know if they can get a virus or not, you can ask that question in the MAC forum to get a definite answer.

  • A few questions about MacBooks and Parallels Desktop.

I have a few questions about MacBooks and Parallels Desktop.
    1) I understand I need at least 1GB of RAM to run Parallels Desktop but what about the hard drive, is the stock 60GB drive big enough?
    2) Related to question 1, even if it was big enough to allow me to install and run Windows would the 60GB drive be enough if I wanted to install a Linux distribution as well?
    3) This has nothing to do with Parallels Desktop but thought I'd ask it here anyway, do Apple Stores carry just the stock MacBooks, or do they carry other configurations?
    Thanks
    Keith

    1. Depend on how intensive you use that HD for saving data on both Mac OS and XP. For standard installation on both OS X and XP, the space of 60 Gb is enough.
    2. Same answer as no 1. You can install all three on that HD space, but the extra spacce available will be less and less for your data. You can save your data on external or back up on cd/dvd and erase it from the HD to keep the free space.
Remember to leave at least 2 or 3 Gb for virtual memory usage.
    3. Just call them, maybe they don't have it in store stock, but by appointment they might configure one for you before your pick-up date.
    Good Luck

  • Basic questions about macbook pro + external monitor

    Hi,
I have some very basic questions about using a Macbook Pro + external display. I don't actually have them but need to know how things works.
    So, here they are:
    1) Can I use the external display as the main display?
    2) Will the external display run with its resolution or with that of the mbook pro?
    3) Somewhere I read that you cannot keep the macbook pro open and get the full resolution of the external display. Is that true ?
    4) Is it dangerous to keep the mbook closed while using the external display?
    5) Does the usage of the external display impact on mbook performance?
I know...a lot of questions , but would be nice if someone could help me.
    Thanks.

Hi - I am presently using an external display.
To answer your questions in sequence:
    1. Yes you can use the external display as your main display. The way to enable that mode is to put your MacBook Pro to sleep, attach the external display. Wake up your MBPro with the lid closed and you will see the external display as you main display. You can alternatively set the external to "Mirror" your notebook by using preferences/display.
    2. The external display will run at its resolution although you can adjust and calibrate it using Preferences/Display.
    3. Not true. You get max resolution on both displays. Of course you may have to tweak as mentioned above.
    4. Not at all. I use this mode all the time. Just make sure you initially set up as mentioned above and your LCD on the MBPro will stay off.
    5. I have not seen any performance degradation whatsoever.
    Hope this helps.

  • Questions about Macbook

I am about to go into my first year of college this July, and I've been looking for a laptop. I've used iMacs before a little bit, but I have a few questions about the Macbook Pro and Mac OS X 10.5. So if someone can help me that would be great.
First of all: How is the Macbook Pro overall as a laptop? Is it a pretty good one?
Secondly: How good is the back-up utility? (Time Machine) Is it pretty good? How big of an external hard drive would I need to back up everything?
Third question: How is the program Boot Camp? I'm planning on putting Windows XP Pro on the Mac using Boot Camp. How is compatibility? Also I've heard that if you make the partition for Windows less than 32 GB, the partitions would be able to "see" each other... does that mean Mac OS X can read FAT 32 drives? Would I be able to transfer files between the two OSs with that setup?
and lastly: Would Mac OS X be able to read my flash drive?
    Thanks in advance everyone

I find it phenomenal, the best laptop I've used. OS X is a versatile and stable OS, and the hardware hasn't given me any trouble.
Secondly: How good is the back-up utility? (Time Machine) Is it pretty good? How big of an external hard drive would I need to back up everything?
It works great for me. You can't be nit-picky, so if you want a backup program with lots of settings there are plenty of options, but for those of us who just want something to fall back on when the HD goes kaput or we delete a file on accident, its perfect.

I haven't used it enough to answer the file sharing questions, but in my limited use it's been excellent, and many friends rave.
It's worth noting that when PC World was testing the fastest Windows Vista laptops, #1 was the MBP running Vista on BootCamp.
and lastly: Would Mac OS X be able to read my flash drive?
Yes. USB drives work great. The only thing, when you delete a file off a flash drive with default formatting, you'll only send it to a hidden "trashes" file. To permanently delete it off the stick, you'll need to push commandshiftdelete.
    Hope that helps!

  • Enquiry about Macbook Air.

I am a year 12 student currently undertaking a CERT IV in I.T.S. Throughout the year we are required to use Adobe CS5 Design Premium for graphics etc. I currently have a Black 2008 Macbook with 3GB of Ram, but it is not doing it for me. I was wondering whether the Corei7 4GBRam Macbook air would be capable.
    Cheers

Check to see if  lack of ram is the problem.  http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/answers/how_to_tell_if_your_mac_needs_more_ram/.  If so, one additional gb of ram won't cut it, and you can't add additional ram to a MacBook Air.

  • Questions about Adobe AIR and FLV license model

I'm currently looking for a game development framework which I can use for a fan-project in my spare time and also for commercial projects for the company I'm working for.
I think that the Citrus Engine which is open source and based on Apache Flex/Adobe AIR/Starling/Away3D/Box2d/Nate might be a good choice.
But I'm really confused about the license model of Adobe AIR and its runtime distribution.
Do I have to pay a license fee or royalties for my games (which include the AIR runtime in order to be stand-alone-apps) when I publish them?
If so, how much are these license fees/royalties?
Does this also concern free apps?
What is the name of the license which I would have to request from Adobe in order to publish my games?
Do I need several licenses when publishing an app on multiple AppStores (Apple/Google/Amzaon) or desktop distribution platforms (Steam/GOG)?
Are there further licensing obstacles which I have to keep in mind when using Flex/AIR for (commercial) game development?
By the way - the FAQ on the product page (http://www.adobe.com/products/air/faq.html) isn't really helping on this topic:
"How much does Adobe AIR cost?" -> "The Adobe AIR runtime and AIR SDK are free for most users."
This answer leaves me with the question: Am I belonging to the "most users" or not?
Therefore it isn't meaningful at all.
I'm also thinking about adding short video sequences as FLVs to the games.
If I understood correctly H.264 and MP3 are currently used as a standard for these video files but aren't free.
Is there a free alternative available for FLVs which can be used in combination with Adobe AIR?
Or did I get something wrong here and don't need to worry about getting sued when using these formats?
Thank you in advance for answering my numerous questions.

    That's true.

  • Questions about distributing AIR Help.

    RH 8 HTML.
So I'm creating AIR Help in RH and am experimenting with the auto update features etc over a network for now, and then a web server in the next few days once I can get access.
In the mean time I'm wondering a few things.
    - We have multiple clients who will all have a slightly different version of the AIR Help file depending on what content they need, so how do you manage the auto update in this sense? If a change is made in RH, I need to publish all these different version of the help file, with all the different xml files, and distribute all the seperate .air and .xml files to their locations on the webserver, correct? eg if I have 20 versions of the air help, then i will need to publish 20 air files with 20 xml files from RH and load them to each specific client location, though with the output settings an batch feature this is more or less automated right?
    - I read that the .air installer will run 'out of the box' and that clients wont need AIR installed on their machines to run it, or is it that the air installer is packaged with the help.air file?
    - Installing anything on most company computers requires admin privilages, and it seems to be the same for AIR, how do you overcome this with organisations who need the help files? Each one needs to get their admin to install it, but what about updates? can updates install without the need of admin privilages? I suppose that question is a bit more dependant on individual companys and their IT systems.
Sorry for all the questions lately, just trying to get things straight in my mind before implementation.
    Thanks.
    Nick

    Hi Nick,
I will try to answer your query one by one.
1 Regarding the first query where in there are multiple clients. My assumption here is since there are multiple clients, and each client requires a different help content, then you will need to generate different AIR files for different clients. You need to keep one thing in mind, since you are generating different AIR files for different clients, you would like to keep Help ID for AIR files different as well.
(To give a better explanation, each AIR help file generated can be uniquely identified using a combination of Help ID + digital certificate, provided at the time of AIR help file generation. This way, each client will have a different AIR help file.) Please check the RoboHTML help documentation @ http://help.adobe.com/en_US/RoboHelp/8.0/RoboHTML/WS9F3A471F-9FAC-4687-AF58-DD1F0FCADF17.h tml#WSF7726358-A147-441b-B441-0E19EB52A293
Next you want to provide an auto update for each client, where in each client will have an update XML specific to his AIR help file. A workable solution is to create different AIR Single Source Layout (SSL) for each client, so that all the setting for that client is saved in that AIR SSL options. This way you can generate multiple AIR SSL as well, using the Batch Generate feature (or scripting). After generatiing the .air file for all the client, client need to upload the updated xml and .air file in the update URL (server or shared drive).
2 Moving to the second query that .air installer will run 'out of the box'. AIR behaves likes any other runtime (for example JAVA, you need JRE to run java applets), you need to have AIR runtime installed on the client machine to install .air file. AIR runtime is not part of .air file and comes as a separate installer. You can check the AIR help documentation regarding the AIR installer and AIR runtime distribution. There is a page at Adobe site regarding the AIR runtime distribution as well @ http://www.adobe.com/products/air/runtime_distribution1.html
3 Since this is an AIR application install, you need to have admin rights. There is a blog regarding the AIR installation @ http://blogs.adobe.com/simplicity/2009/04/should_air_support_non_admin_app_install.html
Hope this clears some doubts. Do post back if you have more questions.

  • Few Questions about macbook pros

Is the transition from windows to mac easy or does it take awhile?
Did you previous windows users get used to the minimizing of windows,I find it alittle weird?
Another question,Why do people ask if they should get a macbook or macbook pro if price and screen size isn't an issue? Is there some sort of difference?
    What is Rosetta?
How many windows can you have minimized?
Are the widgets I see on apple's site the only ones that are out or are there more?
I do alot of downloading, will macbook be perfect for this?
When people say mac doesn't have viruses, does that mean because not many people use mac or because it has a well built OS?
    Is there spyware for macs?

Is the transition from windows to mac easy or does it
    take awhile?
It depends how long you have been using windows....
How many windows can you have minimized?
    Lots, and then some
Are the widgets I see on apple's site the only ones
that are out or are there more?
there are more out there but I am sure most are listed on Apple's site
I do alot of downloading, will macbook be perfect for
    this?
It depends what you mean by downloading. If you mean you download a lot of software/music/movies etc illegally using PTP, MIRC, Torrents etc, then I would say no: it is generally more straight forward on Windows, so I've heard.
When people say mac doesn't have viruses, does that
mean because not many people use mac or because it
    has a well built OS?
possibly a bit of both but I reckon it's mainly because people don't bother making viruses for macs (yet....)

  • Hello! Question about Macbook Pro keyboard cover.

Hello! I have recently bought a Mac Book Pro is Retina display ( 13 in) and I am looking to protect it as much as possible. I bought a case. I saw the keyboard covers and though they were a good idea. I was almost about to purchase one until i read a comment with someone stating that the keyboard covers were not good for the laptops. That they make them overheat or something to that effect. Is this true? I am simply looking for some knowledgeable advice since i don't know too much and the technical side. Thank you for your time!

Cases placed around Mac laptops run a risk of causing the computer to overheat.  There are smal openings for the fans to pull air in and push it out, providing cooling.  The Aluminum case is a heat sink providing a major way to remove heat.  Any covering of he Aluminum body inhibits he heat removal process.  The more enclosure you add, case and keyboard cover, the more difficult it becomes to get rid of he heat he computer produces.
Be cautious about adding too much in the way of enclosure.

  • A few questions about Macbook Pro 13inch batteries.

Hey, my Macbook Pro just arrived today, and I was wondering about general battery care:
Is it okay to leave it plugged in while using it?
How come there's a longer power cord and a shorter one? Is it just for convenience?
How long does a Macbook usually take to charge to 100%?
Is it okay to leave it plugged in all night?
Sorry if I sound stupid, but I'm not very tech-savvy. Thanks for any help!
    xx

Yes, you can leave it plugged in.  Once in a while however, you have to use it under it's own power, at least till it reaches 80% to keep your battery in optimal condition.
As for the power cord, you answered that one yourself " for convenience "
How long does it take long to charge all depends on how low the battery was when you charged it.
Yes, it's ok to leave your Macbook plugged in all night.  Just make sure you use it under it's own power once in a while.  You don't have to fully discharge it which might do more harm than good.

  • Quick questions about Macbook Pro specs...

I am looking at the different Macbooks that Apple offers in order to decide which one to purchase. The two main differences that i noticed are as follows. Can someone please help me answer these two questions?
    1. What is the difference between a Hard Drive on the Macbook Pro and Flash Storage on the Macbook Pro with Retina?
    2. Does the Macbook Pro with Retina not have a build in CD drive? Is that why it states that I would have to purchase a Superdrive seperately?

    1. Flash storage is a solid state drive, which is a lot faster than a hard drive. Meaning, boot times are faster and opening applications are faster with teh flash storage. Transferring data is also faster, so installations go faster.
    2. The retina's don't have an optical drive (DVD/CD drive), so if you needed one you would have to buy an external drive. However, you don't have to purchase Apple's expensive superdrive, you could purchase a 3rd party drive for much cheaper.
