Solid Orange Light When Charging, Yet Ipod Broken?

So, at some point in the past I walked into the ocean with my IPod shuffle. Yes, stupid move, I know. Anyway, it still worked for a little while afterward, and I got a new IPod, which got stolen. So, recently I've been trying to get this IPod Shuffle 2nd Gen to work. I've tried browsing topics to no avail so decided to post.
Here's the symptoms:
1. IPod cannot be recognized by either my computer(Windows XP) OR ITunes.
2. My IPod will not light up at all unless plugged into my computer, in which case it turns orange as if charging.
3. I've tried the 5 fixes. None of them worked, and the IPod will not play music.(Though I'm not sure it still HAS music.)
Any ideas?

On a 1G Shuffle the fix was to disassemble, rinse with distilled water and CRC, carefully dry, re-assemble, and hope for the best. I'm sure the same would be true for the 2G, but I've never taken that one apart; I'm sure the same folks provide the guidance on how to do that, however.
OTOH, a brand-new one is $49 ...... and it even comes with printed warnings against walking it into the ocean.

  • Orange flashing light when I put iPod (2nd generation) in dock

I have set iTunes so that it won't start up when I put the iPod in the dock. I thought I could just charge up my iPod without having iTunes open, but when I put the iPod in the dock it just flashes the orange light and I don't think it's charging. The only way it'll be a solid orange light is if I open iTunes and have it "detect" the iPod and then it charges. Or maybe I'm wrong - is it charging when the orange light flashes? I'm confused. Thanks for any help you can offer.

I'm having a similar problem but I don't think my
shuffle is charging. I can't ever get the orange
light to be steady no matter the setting. Sometimes
it is blinking orange and other times there isn't a
light at all. I left it in the dock for about 8 hours
today. Once I disconnected it and turned it on the
light was Red and it only lasted about an hour. I
just bought this 2 days ago...any ideas?
IF the status LED is NOT lit when your Shuffle is
in the dock and the dock is connected to a USB port,
it CAN'T charge because the connection doesn't carry sufficient power.
Make sure the Shuffle is firmly seated in the dock AND
the USB connector is firmly in a high-power (500MA) USB port AND the computer is NOT asleep. Orange LED (so;id or flashing) indicates a good connection and that it's charging.

    my iPod is broken ?
    thanks to all

I received an ipod shuffle for Christmas and am having the same problem. When I try to eject it (from either itunes or from "Safely Remove hardware" on Windows, i am told that there is another application trying to use the hardware with similar messages to those above.
It even manages to freeze my computer on Shut Down and on Startup if i leave it connected, and only when I disconnect it does the computer start.
i too would appreciate any help in resolving this.

  • Xperia S does not turn on, red light when charging.

My phone, after spending a day on a boat, was low on battery (this was 2 hours after leaving on the drive home). It went from 6% battery to shutting down completely in a matter of seconds. I plugged it into my car charger immediately, but it has not turned on since. Previously i have had problems with the headphone jack not recognising if earphones were plugged in or not, but this usually resolved within a few minutes. On top of this i have once struggled to turn the phone on due to i believe a once off problem with the power button.
Recently the headphone jack has been playing up a lot more than usual, but it never resulted in this.  I have never experienced any other problem with the phone. PROBLEM: Once it turned off, I have been unable to restart my phone. When charging it shows a dull red light like when charging less than 15% battery. I have charged it now, on and off using multiple different charges for 6 hours, and have left it on its original charger as i write this. The power button plus volume up has no effect. There is no vibrations when i turn on the device. The screen which usually loads something when charging, has not displayed anything since turning off. It does not connect to either an apple or windows computer with a usb cable, volume down key depressed or not. It does not get hot to touch while charging, and i remember according to AVG that the battery quality that day was "good". After 6 hours of charging, the red light is still there(and usually a full charge after 1.3 hours, leaves a green light) Put simply, the only responce of any kind i get from the phone is a red light when charging. What have i done? recharged the phone for 6 hours, tried power button, restart button combo, usb connection with both an apple and windows computer, i also put it in rice in case there was any water but did not change anything. anything changed? after 2 hours of charging on the wall, the red light disapeared... tried the above, nothing happened, unplugged the phone then replugged it in... red light. I will try to get it repaired shortly along with a broken PS3, but i would rather a solution, as both my work and social life heavily depend on it. thankyou in advance

If you have given it a good charge and still have no luck, I would advise running a software repair. This can be done with the phone powered off:
    1. Download the PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
and install it on your PC.
    2. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
    3. Phone Software Update.
    4. Start.
    5. Repair Phone
    6. Continue
    7. Accept data removal
    8. Next
    9. Wait for prepare
    10. Select Phone
    11. Follow the connection steps

  • Shuffle has constant blinking orange light when connected to computer

The shuffle constantly has a blinking orange light when connected to the computer. Itunes and the computer recognizes the ipod. • Solid orange light on my time capsule

I have a constant/solid orange light on my time capsule.  My iMac cannot see the disk and therefore the backup has failed for weeks.  It's not making any strange noises.
I've turned it off for a few days and it's the same.
    Has the disk failed?

Unfortunately, a solid amber light is usually an indication that the hard drive has failed. However, it can sometimes be an indication of a failure in the power supply section of the Time Capsule.
In either case, the Time Capsule will need to be replaced....if in warranty or covered by AppleCare....or it might be possible to have the Time Capsule repaired.
Your best bet is to take the Time Capsule to an Apple Store....if you have one in your area....to let them take a look and discuss your options with you.....or, contact Apple Support directly.

  • SBH20 doesn't turn on - solid purple light on charge

    Hi,
I've had my sbh20 for about 6 weeks now,  and up until now I've been quite pleased with it.  However,  it's stopped working and I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this particular fault?
Basically,  it doesn't turn on. Flicking the switch to on does nothing,  no light,  no noise /beep through headphones. Thinking it was possibly out of charge I plugged my usb charger in. The light came on,  solid purple! Strange I thought. I left it on charge overnight and in the morning the light was still solid purple. When switching it 'on',  the light goes out completely,  and still no function.
I have tried the reset as advised in the manual. The light briefly goes from purple,  to Blue and then back to people. End effect,  no change.
    Is this a repair jobbie?
    Thanks.

Sorry to hear this but you would need to either return your device to the place of purchase or contact Xperia care and have your device inspected http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/

  • Blinking Orange Charger Light when Charging L855-S5405

I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop L855-S5405 that I bought in Oct 2013 and I replaced the battery around a week ago since it does not stay charged for last very long and the PC Health Monitor said that the battery health was poor. I also replaced the AC Adapter since it would only work if it was held a certain way. When I charge my laptop now, the charging light sometimes blinks in a pattern of 7-8 times then stops but it happens at random, it's not like it blinks 7-8 times then stops then starts blinking again immediately. When the blinking occurs, my laptop stops charging but begins charging again after it stops. I have my laptop on and working when it is charging and it does not really affect anything as far as I can tell but I would still like to know what this pattern means so I can fix it.I have tried uninstalling the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery then reinstalling it like I have seen in other forums but that does not work and turning off my laptop and unplugging the AC Adapter and taking out the battery then holding power button for 30 seconds then putting everything back in does not work as well. I cannot seem to find anything similar to the problem I have whenever I look online or at the forum from what I have seen so any help would be appreciated.

Is none of these suggestions work, it likely requires servicing unfortunately:

  • My ipod wont let music play only orange light flashing  charged it etc still no luck ??/

    please help

If you have opened up the iPod, there are many things, that can go wrong when you put it back. You should perhaps post your problem in the iPod Modifier web site, Google for iPod Mod. Here we just try to help you, with procedures and the 5Rs.
And I dont think Apple will replace you battery for any price, if you or 3rd party vendors have opened the casing.
    Have a nice day!

  • Macbook Pro(Early 2011) not turning on; Flashing Orange Light on Charger

So yesterday, I did a teardown of my Macbook pro (early 2011) in an effort to clean the keyboard because some keys weren't working. I used rubbing alcohol and As I was putting the keyboard and trackpad connectors back in, I heard the computer making a startup/shut down noise so; I realized I neglected to unplug the battery - out of fear of shock and impulse, I unplugged the battery quickly. The computer shut off and, ever since then, my computer won't turn on. When I plug in the charger; it initially gives me a very faint green light, and when I hold on the power button it changes into a very dim orange blinking light.
    I've tried:
    1) Resetting the SMC (No such luck)
    2) Unplugging the battery; letting the charger charge the motherboard overnight (No luck)
I'd really appreciate some fresh ideas; just to reitterate, it only stopped working the second I impulsively unplugged the charger. So, can a battery die from something like that? Short circuit? Any advice would be really appreciated as I'm in the middle of finals week and really need it.

My only issue with that is that there weren't any hardware issues before i decided to open it up. I know the apple people will be very eager to charge me for something in not convinced is a hardware issue. I just get the feeling i screwed something up while I was putting it back together. I'll post a picture of my logic board soon to see if there's something obvious I'm missing

  • No light when charging

Hi, I have a 1st generation ipod shuffle. the battery light is red so I obviously need to charge it. The problem is that when I plug it into my laptop's USB port, nothing happens. Itunes doesn't come up (I don't know if it's supposed to or not), but more importantly, there's no flashing amber lights to tell me it's charging. What's the problem?
    Thanks, Janie.

    Hi, Janie
Is this the first time you're trying to connect it to that specific USB socket? The Shuffle requires a powered USB socket in order to charge. Some older machines with early USB functionality don't have this. You might need to use another USB socket, either on your laptop or on another machine altogether.
If this is the case, I believe that it's possible to connect the Shuffle to a USB hub (one that would require an additional power supply and to be connected, in turn, to your laptop) to charge. Finally, I'm pretty sure you can purchase a charging dock for the Shuffle from Apple shops.
Powered USB or non-powered, the iPod should appear in your iTunes, but I'm guessing it may not if the battery is too low.
    Hope I've helped somehow.

  • Orange light on charger

When I try to turn my computer on the light on the charger goes from green to orange, and the computer won't turn on. The hard drive spins for a second and then nothing. Tried taking battery out, but still won't work.

Remove the battery... remove the power cable... hold the power button down for 10 seconds.. then put battery back in with power cable too... try turning on, if it doesnt turn on, take in for hardware service.
