Solid Red Light - Must Remove Battery to Restart - Gray Load Screen w/ Hourglass

My Sprint 8830 will randomly glitch, the screen will go black and the light will stay red.  The only way to restart the phone is to remove the battery and go through an extended loading process.
I currently don't have insurance so I'm hesitant to report the issue to Sprint.  Has anyone had this problem? My phone is less than one year old.
Any direction?
Thanks,
Kevin

My battery also drains significantly faster than before i added MP3 ringtones.
8.5MB file free is low. You have low memory. Or your device does.
First thing? Check the File Free at Options > Status, what is the number at File Free? Now, remove the battery of your device, hold a minute, replace and reboot. What is the File Free now?

  • Solid red light

My HP Envy HD always had a solid blue light on the tower panel. Last night, the tower panel had a solid red light & monitor said no signal, check video connection, so hubby changed HDMI cable. Still didn't work, but somehow he did get it to work & monito, computer functional.  Problem, I still have a solid red line on tower panel. The tower light used to be solid blue - what happened to that?  It's solid red consistently, whether I'm using computer or whether it's asleep. Called HP support and was told my computer is fine. They couldn't answer what happened to the blue light.  I'm concerned. Red always is a warning, right?  Help!  Thanks for any advice.

You may need to perform a software repair using PC companion. The process will erase all internal memory. You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 60% battery.
Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).
Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable.

  • Solid Red light...black screen, then white screen. No icons.....

    Hi....
I have a 2 year-old BB Storm.  I have the issue where there is a solid red light that stays on.  Screen goes from black to white.  The icons never appear anymore.  I went to my local Verizon, and they suggested getting a new phone, as they could tell it was a software issue.  One technician suggested, before buying a new phone, to try downloading the software from the BB site because sometimes it's been known to push through or flush out the software issue.
My question is, which operating system should I download?  I can't go into the device to find out what version I currently have.
I have pictures on this BB.  I already lost pictures when I went from my old phone to my BB.  I'll be crushed if I lose the remainder.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks.
Today, I will commit one random act of senseless kindness. Perhaps YOU will be my "victim".

    Hi there,
I'm not sure if you'll be able to save your pictures if they were stored to the device memory, but let's cross our fingers.
To reload your OS, follow the steps here: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Device-software-for-BlackBerry/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-S...
Once there, follow the link to download the OS from Verizon. Just download the most up to date OS.

I've tried the Jl Cmder wipe but for some reason the program doesn't install on my computer. I'm going ot leave it plugged into the wall charger over night to see what happens..earlier today I pluged it in and took the battery out to see what would happen and the red light turned off but nothing came up on the screen. When i went to put the battery back in nothing came up no screen not red light. it took me several tries to get the red light back. i've used other batterys and with no luck...please help me out i would hate to pull the plug

    JL_Cmder is your only hope.
It's a very simple install, just download, double click on the exe file that you download.

  • Phone doesn't turn on, solid red light, requires send back BUT I have a request.

I've essentially figured out that my Z10 needs to be returned for some sort of warranty / repair, however I'm really hoping that we can request that the data on the phone be saved rather than it just be lost forever. Is this possible? There are many important notes that haven't been backed up.
Symptoms: Phone doesn't turn on, red light comes on solid for a few minutes and then turns off. Connecting it to a computer doesn't result in anything (no computer connection, no change in phone).
I am with Bell, and I even live in Kitchener (I could personally drop into BB to sort this out) I wanted to check here as a last resort before sending it back.
    Thanks!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I used these steps from Geek Squad and it worked for me.
    Restore BB10
When a BlackBerry 10 device is only flashing the red light and refusing to boot up, this indicates that the device’s operating system has become corrupted. The flashing light may follow the pattern of 1, 2 or 3 short blips, with a longer pause between the sets.
In order to fix this, you need to re-install the operating system on the device, which will then set the device back to its original factory state.
Please note: this process will completely wipe your device, so please make sure you have a backup of your personal information available to restore before going through this process.
Download and install the latest version of BlackBerry Link for your computer.
    Open BlackBerry Link software.
Plug in the BlackBerry device using your USB cable.
At the bottom left of the program, find the device you're having issues with and select it by clicking on it.
The BlackBerry Link application will then ask to either reconnect or reload the device software. Choose Reload.
Confirm the reload when prompted to do so, which will wipe clean any data previously on the handset.
Allow the reload to complete, which can take some time. Whilst this is underway, the device will have a solid green light. This process of downloading and reinstalling the device can take an hour or more, depending on the speed of your internet connection, soplease don't disconnect the BlackBerry until the process has finished.
Once the restore is complete, simply set up your device again, or restore it from a previous backup stored on your machine. However, if you want to restore a previous backup, remember to sign in to your BlackBerry ID on the device first! If you're not sure how to do this, we have a full guide available.
The good news is, this process is almost identical on both PC and Apple Mac. Simply follow the same process as above. Finally, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us.

  • Red light for about 3 seconds, then a white screen with a sandclock = continuous (8310)

Hey everyone. I'm new to this whole Blackberry talk, so I'll try to go into as much detail as i can with my problem!
I bought this from product from somebody on the internet. Well, my phone was just on my desk earlier today, working perfectly fine, when all of a sudden the screen became black, and the light at the top of my phone stayed red for about 3 seconds. The screen would then turn white afterwards and the sand timer would be there, and that would happen for about 5-10 seconds, then it would turn black and the red light would appear, then the white screen with the sand timer. Therefore it's repeating itself.
From what i've tried to understand, I have taken the battery out of the phone for a good amount of time, 15 minutes, and yet nothing. When i always put the battery back, it automatically goes to the black screen with red light.
I've also tried to push the reset button at the bottom left beside the battery, and that doesn't work either.
I don't have the slightest clue on what OS, and how to use the desktop manager either.
If someone can help me with this, I'd totally appreciate it!
    Thanks!

  • T43 does not boot, must remove battery and try again.

    T43
    2686-E7U
My computer frequently will not turn on, requiring me to take out the ac and the main and ultrabay batteries, sit around for a while, and try again and again. This never fails to start the computer eventually, but i'm also afraid one day it simply will not start. Currently i've decided not to turn off my computer, I just suspend and restart it from time to time. Stability wise it is solid, but i'd like to get this fixed before my warranty expires and I don't want to be long without my computer. This has been an ongoing problem for most of this year.
I no longer have a working windows partition, I run ubuntu, so i'd rather not have to mess with reinstalling the bios unless it really might fix my problem. Current bios information is
    Bios version 1.29 (1YET65WW) 8-21-2006
    Embedded controller 1.06
    Typical sequence looks like this.
Computer is turned off, and unplugged after a normal shutdown.
I plug in the AC adapter to the computer, and after a few seconds the green battery light comes on.
I press the power button, the computer does not turn on, and the battery/power light turns off.
Even when I release the power button the battery light remains off.
Next step is to remove the AC and my two batteries, wait for a while, plug it back and and cross my fingers. If does not turn on, goto step 1 and repeat.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Welcome to the forum.
I'm wondering what happens if you leave the batteries disconnected and power up the system. If one of your batteries is very dead it might cause those problems. It could be the mother board.
Someone recommended a memory test. PC Doctor is available at the lenovo site. It will also test you hard drive. Also http://www.memtest86.com.
    Good luck.

  • MacBook pro won't wake from sleep must remove battery

We have an early 2008 15" C2D MacBook pro. Frequently when we put it to sleep, it won't wake up. It doesn't respond to the power button. We have to pull the battery, wait a few minutes reinstall it and reboot.
What should we check out? Or are we better off taking it to the Store and getting it fixed. It's under Applecare.

When my late 2007 C2D MBP started doing that, it was after traveling with the computer. I finally reviewed the system log to find that, on attempting to wake, the computer was looking for the network at a hotel where we had stayed.
I opened System Preferences > Network, selected "Airport" and clicked on "Advanced." On the first tab is a list of networks the computer has remembered. I found the hotel network name and deleted it, along with about a dozen other now-remote networks accumulated during travel. I also unchecked "Remember any network this computer has joined."
Works fine now. All that show are the two local networks I use the most: one for home and another for a museum where I volunteer.
Easy to try, although I agree with tjk to have the Apple Store document the issue in case it proves to be something more sinister.

  • Red light in corner blinks and then phone restarts???

    Hello -
Hopefully I am posting in the right section.
So I just bought a used Blackberry Pearl 8120. So far I really like the phone, but a few little odd things have been happening and I don't know if it is normal with a solution, or if it is because I bought a crappy used phone........
The first thing that has happened a few times in the 2 days i've had the phone is the red light in the top right corner of the phone will blink, and then the phone will restart itself as if I had taken the battery out or fully shut down the phone. I'm not sure what the red light is about or why the phone would restart itself?? Which is a pain since it takes a few minutes to fully restart...... I read something about the red light being a message indicator but as far as I know I didn't receive any messages when the light was blinking....................
The other thing just happened this morning. Last night was the first time I needed to charge my phone. I put it on the charger and went to bed. When I got up this morning and grabbed it it was frozen and the time was 11:17PM. So assuming it had stopped at that time last night and I had to again restart the phone, another pain. I don't know whats up with that, if the phone is crappy or if it is something that has happened to others then I wont worry about it too much.......just kind of weird.
Anyway hopefully i'm not asking a question i could have found on this website but there is so much to go through! Thanks for any help.

mine just did that 30 min ago. wtf?
it is a red or amber led color and amber is a dead battery.
it starts up for a short time than the cell goes blank the red light goes on and
    it restarts.
i ordered a new battery that should be here soon and i am hopeing the battery just went bad.
any takers on what is going on with my 8220?

  • Bold 9930 - dead and flashing red light

Bold - Verizon 9930, died with flashing red light, non-responsive. Can connect wtih loader, re-loading latest OS for Verizon (7.1.0_rel1737_PL5.1.0.429_A7.1.0.580_Verizon_Wireless) Load fails with "application loader was unable to connect with your device" when it tries to connect with the JVM. I have tried:- fully charged known good battery (tested in another 9930)- wiping device- start without battery, insert battery when JVM message comes up- both BB desktop and Loader directly- two different PCs (no change)- different USB ports- older version of BB OS for device- many, many iterations... All end with "application loader was unable to connect with your device" Is the device scrap?  If so why?  It's not even 2 years old, out of warranty, and apparently now totally worthless.  This one is the CEO's Blackberry, and he's not happy...  If I can't resolve this, it will be the very last BB to ever see the inside of our company.  This is the second 9930 to die this way in the last 4 weeks.

    Hello,
    Firstly...
    truckin-on wrote:
Does RIM care about these failure issues at all I wonder?
If you were hoping for a response from RIM, you have misunderstood the purpose of these forums. These are not a channel for any communications with, support from, nor escalation to RIM for anything. Rather, these are a user-to-user community of volunteers trying to help each other out amidst their own busy lives. So patience perhaps would be a good thing to have...
Nevertheless, please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
While you've already validated that your battery is good, I don't think you've tried the first part of this test:
Obtain a known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem.
While perhaps redundant to what you've already attempted, here are a few more things to try:
KB10144 How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader
KB27956 How to recover a BlackBerry smartphone from any state
    http://crackberry.com/blackberry-101-lecture-12-how-reload-operating-system-nuked-blackberry
Since you are out of warranty, your next step I suppose would be to seek in-hand support from a qualified technician to give you a proper diagnosis. Doing such at this internet distance is quite a challenge and therefore cannot replace in-hand evaluation and diagnosis.
Good luck and let us know!

  • BlackBerry Z10 Dead, no red light

My BB Z10 STL100-1 doesn't wake up. Its been almost 3 days. I have gone through all available KBs and forums to make it come alive but my effort went in vain; however, I do not wish to give up my attempt... so below is what happened..
    Screen is black
    No red/gree light blinking
Kept it for charging via USB (even tried the battery caliberation, nothing changed
Charged it via wall charger (nothing changed)
Pressed the power button for almost 60 seconds, no red light blinking
Tried OS update via the blackberry.com/updates  - phone not recognizing. not even 'uknown pin'
USB doesn't get recognized via BB Link, internet explorer, Autoloader)
The above isssues occured post trying to update to 10.3.1. xxx . The phone booted up after the update and as I was going through the initial setup process, the screen got frozen up and it died and never woke up after that.
Could not figure out from any of the forums whats the reason behind no red lights (even without battery off the device). Will a battery replace work?
Any help would be much apprecaited!

The battery issue pre-upgrade could have been a different issue. What commonly happens with the Z10 is the meter on the device that read the battery and in turn is reported to you the user gets out of calibration, or at least calibration is the best word. It isn't broken; it is just inaccurate. The fix may be moot now, but the procedure is to plug the device in using a wall charger and leave it for 2+ hours. Then remove the battery while the device is still plugged in. Wait a minute and then place the battery back in the device. Wait until the device charges the battery to 100%.
Of course, it could be the battery, or the device. In such a situation it is also advisable to try your battery in a known good device and try a known good battery in your device.
You might try the above and see what happens. Maybe your problem is the upgrade, or maybe not. Please try and the post an update. Good luck. Fingers crossed here.

  • 8830 Will not charge, shows solid red LED when connected

I plugged my phone in to my wall charger Saturday night as I always do-Sunday morning the phone was dead and would not turn on.  It shows a solid red light on the LED.
I cannot seem to get it to charge.  Briefly, the charging battery icon showed up on the screen, but now it went out.  Just sitting there, every once in a while the LED goes out.
Help, anyone?  I've tried taking out the battery and reinserting both with the phone plugged in and not.

I had same problem except I discovered that as long as I did not let the battery fully die, it would charge with no issues. But if it died completely, I would get the red light briefly, it would go out and then lightning bolt on battery would show up but no charge at all.

  • Touch sceen wont work and red light

My touch screen on my HTC Rhyme stopped working and now there is a faint red light in the top left corner of the screen.  How can I fix this?

Hi. My name is Stephanie, >Personal info removed< daughter. I have had my phone since July 1, 2012. I have been having consistent issues with it taking FOREVER to turn on or restart. Also, I have at the same issue the starter of this thread. To describe in more detail, I can hit the on/off button to show the home screen. But, the touch screen is not working. And, there is a faint red light about 5mm to the left of the Verizon logo at the top of the front screen. I chose this phone because I wanted a smart phone and this looked like a great option, but I have been having consistent issues and have not dropped the phone or changed anything on the phone. Hoping to get some help, otherwise, I am contemplating paying the cost for the new Samsung note, as much as I DO NOT have the money to do this. Please let me know ASAP as to my options, especially since I don't have any discount or good upgrade options until 04/2013. Thank you so much hope that I can get some resolution to this problem.  Also, you can e-mail me directly at >Personal email address removed<

  • Steady red light + Blank screen

Today, as I got up, I noticed that my blackberry cure 8320 had a white screen. This has neever happened before, so I just removed the battery, and put it back in.
Something I noticed was that when I inserted the battery, a steady red light appeared for about six seconds, and the screen was completely blank. Thinking that this would go away, I stepped outside, and I got a call. The screen was still black. I was able to answer the call prefectly fine, but I couldn't interact with it in any other way other than the voice command button.
I've spent the whole day googling it, and it seems that I can't find a solution. Any help?
    ***Notes:
The blackberry I have is unlocked. I ordered it online from BestBuy.
    It's a T-Mobile blackberry running on AT&T
    ---EDIT---
I've also tried to connect it to my laptop, and it works fine. I've re-installed my OS (4.5), restored it, deleted everything on it, and still no luck.

My son got up this morning with the same complaint, I now have it on while it is charging through the pc (although he said he charged it overnight via a mains plug) the battery is now at 15% so think that may have been the issue x
