SOLMAN 7.1 SP3 CONFIGURATION

Dear All,
As i am in the configuration phase of Solman 7.1,i have completed the steps of SYSTEM PREPARATION and BASIC
CONFIGURATION except configuration of Willy Introscope Agent.
As i have to configure the Maintenance Optimizer.
Can anyone tell me what prerequistes should be maintenaned to configure MOPZ?
Should i go with the Managed System Configuration first or i can directly start with the MOPZ Configuration?
Kindly guide me,as i am new into this.

I am new to Solution Manager, I have installed Solman7.1 with initial stack, without applying SP3 or SP4 I have started solman_setup at standard configuration
1) I have selected local SLD, and gave SLD data like host name : solman host etc because we dont have separate standalone central sld, we have systems like SAP ECC6.0 EHP5, PI7.3 and Portal 7.3, we are using PI7.3 system SLD is the Master SLD for ECC & Portal. So at the time of solman standard configuration SLD step we have selected local SLD and gave solman hostname for SLD host name. SLD task run successfully.
2) At LMDB step I am unable to complete it properly, I dont know which user name I need to give to sync SLD and LMDB, so I skipped that step and perfomed BASIC Cofiguration with Willy Agent steps keeping as postpond
3) I need to upgrade to ECC HCM component to Ehp5 605 as my ECC is Central Application SAP_APPL 605 sp05 now, I am facing problem at the time of generating target stack file thro solman MOPZ (it is giving COVNT_DATA_LOSS ABAP Dump error) so we decided to apply latest patch SP04 for solman
Please guide how to config LMDB and MOPZ, where can I get step by step configuration for this? I really appreciate if anyone help me out.

Error while configuring system preparation in solman step 5.6(configure SAPconnect)

Hello,
We have recently upgrade solman from SP4 to SP 11. I am doing reconfiguration of the Solman. Stuck in one step of system preparation ->Step 5 Configure Connectivity -> 5.6 Configure SAPconnect.
The error which i am facing is "Email address could not be updated because of the CUA" after saving the entries. I tried disconnecting the system from parent system and run the setup but still getting the same error.
Any help in this regards will be highly appreciated. Let me know if more information is required.

I presume
you refer to user-id SOLMAN_BTC (default user-id) used in step 5.6 of System Preparation"
an email address exists for above user-id
After system/client was removed from CUA, did you re-sync system via RZ70 to SLD and then to LMDB / SMSY?
Please re-sync and restart "System Preparation"; hopefully that should resolve your issue.

DVD SP3 configuration problem

Whenever I open DVDSP3 everything comes up with the exception of the toolbar. Whenever you move the mouse to where the buttons are supposed to be the program tells you whats there but there is no visible button . I have already gone through all the trouble of the customize toolbar on the VIEW tab. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled it just to make sure but it still shows up. How can I correct this problem?
G5 Mac OS X (10.4.4)

The solution:
Probably a combination of previously posted suggestions.
A Memorex DVD laser lens cleaner disc didn't help.
A standard Office Depot cleaner disc didn't help.
I tried using canned air to blow out the dust and got to where I could burn a blank disc to a point.
A new error message popped up before the final burn:
"This disc did not verify correctly and is unreliable. Because this disc is unreliable, discard it and try again using a new, blank disc. (Error code 0x80020063)"
Took out the unburned disc (a standard Memorex) and placed in a higher-quality (Taiyo Yuden, which I use for my video production) disc.
Voilà!
To make sure, I tried a new Memorex disc and had the same error message.
Then, used a new Taiyo disc and everything is good!
So, I guess part of the problem was a dirty laser lens and the otehr part was probably using cheap media.
This is not to say that you will be able to get the same results.
Sometimes, those "superdrives" are D.O.A. and need to be replaced.
Fortunately that wasn't the case in my issue.

Solman Configuration for Portal.

We have installed solman 7.0 and configured it for all our ABAP stack servers.
But now we want to configure it for our EP 6.0 also.
Please suggest how can it be done.

How to configure the web interface of service desk

Hi All,
We are currently doing a configuration on solman service desk. I am on a stage where in i need to use the web interface of service desk via tcode notif_create_bsp. However, every time i call the transaction code (call the url) i cant view the web. Only an error the "Network Access Message: The website cannot be found".
I already activate needed services and already publish
SIAC_PUBLISH_ALL_INT but it still doesnt work.
I might have missed some configs/procedure on how to do it correctly.
My questions are.
1. How am i going to know the qualified domain name
of the Web AS for solman? How to configure it?
2. Can anyone give me some guide and any step by step documentation/procedure on this.

That was a helpful tip. I change the host name with the ip address ofour solman server. However, upon login, it promts me to enter username and password. I've tried to login using my solman password but it shows an error like this.

How do I lock for access to IMG in dev. systems, except via the SolMan?

Hi all.
For years I have heard that it should be possible to "technically suggest" to config users that they must go via the SolMan to execute the configuration of satellite systems.
Can anyone tell me how to setup this, or even better point out a config guide for this?

It works as follow:
You create RFC between SOLMAN and Satellite system.
Make configuration about system landscape in SMSY and SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN
Here you have to link RFCs with Trusted option
then you can access Satellite system via SOLMAN
For trusted network, you need to have same user id in both SOLMAN n Satellite system...
The password of satellite system id is system generated and not known to consultants
thus they have only option of logging in to SOLMAN to access Satellite system.

Hi Folks,
Can solman automatically create configuration document for the server where new implementation is carried on? I know how to create implementation project in solman and maintaining already created document in it. But can it be done automatically?
Can solman capture al the configuration? How can we make use of solman in new implementation project? I have configured service desk and Charm successfully.
Points would be rewarded.

Hi Nikhil,
To the best of my knowledge, the answer is no. SolMan cannot automatically generate a document.
Following would be my suggestion:
(1) In SOLAR02, Config Tab, get your team members to list the IMG object references against relevant process steps or at Cross-Scenario Configuration folder level
(2) Generate Config Guide which would at least let you know what is in scope even if not provide you with what was configured.

SolMan 7.0 + IDES ERP 6.0 on 1 machine for 1-man-show with MaxDB?

Sorry - I know that what I've done is unusual and somewhat suspect, but anyway: I've successfully installed -just for personal interest- both (SolMan 7.0 plus IDES ERP 6.0 SR3) on 1 machine, which is a very small PC with Windows Server 2003 x64 and MaxDB. I can start SolMan OR I can start ERP. But every time the used memory climbs up to about 10 to 12 MB.
If I would start both in parallel (but I hav'nt done that yet because I had not the courage to find it out), real + virtual memory might not be sufficient (and the mainboard of the pc does not allow more than 4 MB of memory).
Has everyone ever tried to downsize the default parameters of sapinst to the lowest possible values for a 1-man-show? I wunder what the minimum values for all the parameters of such a SolMan + ERP on MaxDB configuration might be, that would perfectly work if there would be only 1 user?
Is there any help or interest in this? If I could not receive helpful answers, it might be possible to me to provide the results of my furthers studies. But I would really prefere to make use of other collegues' experiences first. Thank you for your answer.

first of all - you're talking about Gigabytes instead of Megabytes are you?
Thought so... Anyhow, it doesn't matter how much RAM you can put into the machine, since Windows supports virtual memory, a.k.a. a pagefile.
So basically it's not a question if the whole thing would run, but rather a performance question.
The next thing is: you didn't try it. Why not? What bad thing should happen?
Move on - try it out.
MaxDB will start as well with a very small data cache.
NetWeaver will start with only a few disp+work processes and perhaps you don't need a J2EE instance.
Depending on what you want to do, you can save a lot resources.

Error running program AI_CRM_CPY_PROCTYPE in SOLMAN 7.1

Hi Gurus.
I'm trying to run program AI_CRM_CPY_PROCTYPE to copy transaction type SMIN to ZMIN in SOLMAN 7.1 SP3.
When I choose button "start copy process", the program terminates with error "ASSIGN_BASE_TOO_SHORT".
Do I need to change something in the screen before I choose the "start copy process"? Can you please help me how to correctly run this report to copy transaction type.
The Central Correction Note for was already applied in our SOLMAN system.

In SOLMAN 7.1, Use SOLMAN_SETUP, and go to IT Service Management-> Change Request Management.
Apply the master note for Charm in step and in Step 3, Copy Transaction Type via Report.
Please use the above method, it should work.

SolMan 7.1 - Data Volume Management content download

All,
During the setup of DVM within our SolMan 7.1 SP3, errors occur in step Managing System Preparation:
- STAT6 download failed!
- Housekeeping download failed
- Admin of Tables download failed
- AOBJ Res.Times download failed!
- DANA customizing download failed!
- CRIT_AOBJ download failed!
- ATTR_AOBJ download failed!
OSS Notes 1648704, 1563060 and 1571029 were implemented prior to this error.
No OSS connection is available because this is a demo system. Can content be downloaded locally?

Solman for testing

Just wanted to know from you that if in an implenetation project we have business blueprint made outside solution manager(BBP is not generted using solution manager features) then can we use solmman for such a project in phases of realization onwards. Can we doing the testing of such project through solman when the blueprint has been generated without the aid of solman.

Hi Manish,
You have to have the Business Blueprint structure in SolMan, so that in Configuration transaction, you can hang off Test Case documents against those respective nodes.
Blueprint document generation from SOLAR01 is not a prerequisite, but the structure is.
At least you need some 'high level' folders, if not till Process Step level.

Two other ways would be, as an alternative to developing a formal well structured SOLAR01:
(1) Create a namesake Scenario, a Process under that and a Process step. List all transactions that you are supposed to test against this process step.
While generating Test Plan(s), choose to include Transactions involved in the project, it will include all Transactions you keyed in.
Create Test Packages in ways that suits your needs, into chunks of functionality or modulewise - whatever suits.
(2) Don't even create this name sake structure. Create a Test Plan, and not with reference to Project, but from Application Hierarchy.
It depends on the kind of Test Scripts you have - if they are already developed, it would warrant an alignment with that. If you dont have any word/excel files as Test Scripts, the above two options may as well suit.

Strange Server Reboots on Solaris8 + Weblogic 7 SP2/SP3

Hi all,
I'm hoping that some of you guys can give me some pointers to help diagnose a
serious problem we are having with our servers.
Symptoms:
2xSolaris8 E220s machines running weblogic Express Premium v7 SP3 configured as
cluster. 1 of the servers unexpectedly reboots (with no user action). The server
comes back to runlevel 3 however most of the hard disk partitiions are not mounted.
The hard disks were manually repaired and remounted.
So my question is why did this server decide to reboot and why did the hard disks
not remount?
The only log I can find at the time of failure was found using the following command:
last | morereboot system boot Thu Jul 31 11:04
We did not issue this command, is it possible that the system may issue this command
after a component failure / kernel panic?
We had a similar reboot issue happen last week on our staging servers, these however
were using Service Pack 2.
The things that have changed recently on these boxes are:
- Solaris Tuning parameters have been applied
- WebLogic installed (replacing incumbent iPlanet Application Server 6)
- New version of iPlanet Web Server installed (iWS 4.1 SP12)

- Exception (PeerGone, No Router)
- or just hangs
Also, you could run WLS using the JRE that ships with it. AFAIK, its v1.3.1_06.
