SOLMAN 7.1 Technical Monitoring - System Monitoring - Host Grey

Hi All,
Wondering why my host monitoring in system monitoring is greyed out? I managed to get Technical Systems, Database and others work well but not Host Monitoring.
I checked SAPHOSTAGENT is running fine, DAA and wily as well. Also, all updated to latest version. Template assigned to Host monitoring as well. All troubleshooting and logs leaves no clue.
Any idea as i've run out of ideas.....
Cheers,
Nicholas Chang

Hi Roland,
I did check and below are what it returns:
Configuration XML 7.01.01.20120305075238 did not reach the agent. Agent XML:
No measured values have been reported by data provider.
No measured values were ever calculated.
However, when i click on the "FIX" icon, nothing appears........
I've changed the metric for "Host" managed object, assign and activate, rerun technical monitoring setting.
i dont find any useful thread on SDN nor SMP. I've drill to landscape browser, agent log, daa log, extractor and etc but to no avail. However, i did get host info on Wily and E2E.... just wondering???
Any clues?
Thanks,
Nicholas Chang

  • Performance Monitor (System Monitor Scale) I do not understand

Hi, I am trying to understand System Monitor and the his mesuares buy exists a point that I can not to understand.
I see the performance in the task manager and I use 1.57 GB of 2 GB of memory.
I go to the system monitor and I added the "Avaible MBytes" counter and the chart is on 100% and the value for Last, Average, Minimun and Maximun are 773, 774, 773 and 775 with a scale of 1,000.
If I change  the scale to 0.1 the percentage of the chart change to 78% aprox. and the value are the same but, If I change to 0.01 this chart change to 8% aprox.
I do not understand where is the exactly scale that I have to use to see the really percentage of the counter, this question is over this particular counter.
I was clear? Could you help me?
    thanks.

The counter you are displaying charts in MB it does not chart in an Percent.
To truely understand what is going on in memory you will need to read memory chapter in:
     Windows® Internals, Fifth Edition
    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/Book.aspx?ID=12069&locale=en-us
The available MB counters includes what is in Free Memory and Standby List.   The standby list will not be flushed unless there is memory presure on the OS.

  • Solution manager system monitoring configuration

    Hi
I am configuring system monitoring in solution manager (Oracle / Solman 7.0 EHP1 / Windows 2008 / VM)
I have added a satellite system to solution manager thru CCMS and CCMSPING agents. These are visible in RZ21 / Technical infrastructure / Overview. This has also been added in SMSY, SMSY when refreshed pulls out data from the satellite system. However I am having trouble with the transaction SOLUTION_MANAGER. This is where I setup system monitoring.
Here I find the solution maanger system however am not able to find the satellite system which I had added.
    Thoughts?
    thanks
    Ravi

    Hi,
Have you defined and added corresponding logical systems for the respective satellite systems?
Here is the sequence of steps you've to do:
    in SMSY:
    1) Define server, DB, Systems
    2) Generate READ, TMW, TRUSTED RFCs to the satellite systems
    3) define logical systems and assign the satellite system to it
    in Solution_Manager:
    1) define new solution
    2) add the logical system into the solution
If these steps are successful, you should be able to see the satellite system in SYSTEM MONITORING in Solution_Manager.
Have you already done these steps?
    After performing these steps:
    Solution_Manager>choose relevant solution>operations setup>Solution Monitoring>System monitoring>Activate monitoring> choose the system and activate monitoring.
    Your system will then appear.
    Does this help any way?

  • Solution Manager System Monitoring of a CE 7.10

    Hi
I am trying to setup a Solution Manager Monitoring Solution for a CE 7.10 Enviroment.
I have already setup CEN in SOLMAN.
I have registered CE Systems with a sapccmsr j2ee agent.
I have setup the JCO RFC Connection in CE.
I have created the TCP/IP Connection to the JCO Connection in Solman.
I have set the TCP/IP Connection in RZ21 as the J2EE Customizing Destination.
The solution involves only 1 Logical Component with 3 CE Systems.
When I go to the solution manager setup and try to configure the MTE Nodes for my solution I cannot get the MTE context while clicking in Activate Monitoring for other Software Components
I choose Java Application Server, choose my server, choose CEn but when i have to choose the context of the MTE i get an empty list.
IF i go Activate Monitoring for Other Servers and choose the server I get the contexts of the remote server, but I can only choose one.
So how can I see the context of the CE servers in the Software component part?

  • System Monitoring old entries still visible

    Hi SolMan Experts,
We are using System Monitoring for more or less a year now to monitor our PRD systems.
Now we have deactivated the monitoring from one system (as it will disappear) - system X, but the monitoring entries are still visible in one of our other systems - system Y - as they were sharing the same server.
This is of course annoying as the summary icon (green, red, yellow or gray) is always showing gray now for system Y, because system X is not there any more but SolMan still tries to monitor those entries.
I already activated the monitoring for system X in SolMan and removed the entries manually, but in the monitoring of system Y these entries of system X still appear.
Does anyone of you has an idea how to fix this?
    Thanks a lot in advance...
    Roel

    Hi,
We managed to fix it with this note: 1573639 - SolMan Monitoring - Open Alerts cannot be confirmed
    Hope it helps.

  • Setup system monitoring wrong text

    Dear all,
After implementing Basis patch SAPKB70011 togather with SAPKITL420, Solution Manager system displays wrong text for Alerts in SOLUTION_MANAGER transaction -> Solution Monitoring-> System monitoring -> Operation setup in Setup system monitoring.
expl: for Setup Monitoring for SAP System...  all rows shows the same Spool wait time
for Errors / Administrating of ... all rows shows the same Abap error in update
and every time this text is changed when I execute Setup system monitoring.
Should I implement SAPKITL421, SAPKITL422, and SAPKITL423 and are these patches connected with SAPKB70012, SAPKB70013, .. ? Is it necesary when implementing SAPKITL421 to be togather with SAPKB70012 and equivalent, because when I tried to implement SAPKB70011 alone it shows that there is a conflict with the add-on SAPKITL420 and muste be also implemented.
    Thank you in advance.
    Best regards,

  • Solution Manager - System Monitoring

    Hi Basis associates,
This is a open discussion for SAP Basis experts to discuss what the pain points are when it comes to SAP System Monitoring on
    1. Solution Manager
    2. Third party Monitoring tools
for any SAP Application (ABAP, ABAP+Java, Java only)
Also, what are the additional parameters that Solution Manager needs to monitor to make the monitoring easier?

  • Set-Up System Monitoring

when i transaction SOLUTION_MANAGER and Choose Solution Monitoring  System Monitoring, in the Operations Set-Up area  at the overview area where you see system monitoring set-up i cant find or rather change it to change mode..that icon for change is not there..all i see are the bestpractice document..how will i setup my system monitoring when i can find the change icon.help asap.

    HI Dayo,
Maybe the problem is when you created RFCs from Solution Manager to Satellite System you didn't confirm the checkbox "Assign RFC Conection for System Monitoring". If it's what happened, you should regenerate the RFCs and make sure that that checkbox is confirmed.
On the other hand, SAP Note 455356 Requirements for System Monitoring in Solution Manager can help.
I hope this could help you.

  • System Monitoring and CCMS Monitors

In our production environment we have working CCMS Monitors set up thru RZ20.
However if I go to solution_manager->system monitoring->operations tab, there are no alerts displayed on the page. Does system monitoring use the same backend as CCMS Monitoring? I am a little bit confused on this. If we set up System Monitoring, will this duplicate the CCMS Monitors we've previously set up?

If you want to see alerts on Operation tab in solution_manager->Solution Monitoring->System Monitoring you first need to run "Setup System Monitoring" (link is just below tab Operation or run in from Operations Setup tab). Setup will not duplicate CCMS monitors. It will just mark which of the available alerts should be taken into account for solution_manager->Solution Monitoring->System Monitoring report.
This might help you to start:

  • System Monitoring - Solman 7 EHP1

    Hi
    Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1 / Windows 2008 / Oracle
Satellite System R/3 Enterprise extn set 110 / Solaris on Sparc / Oracle
I am having trouble configuring System monitoring on solution Manager. Here is what I have done
Added the satellite system to SLD, Configured data collector (RZ70) in the satellite system, Pushed data from SLD to SMSYS (automatic transfer).
Installed CCMS agent + CCMSPING agent in satellite system. Checked connectivity in solman with RZ21. Connectivity is fine.
Created Monitor sets and monitors in CCMS for monitoring satellite system. Client data is visible in CCMS.
Created a solution in DSWP. Created logical component in SMSY. Assigned the logical component to the solution. Now I can see the data in DSWP.
    Here are my questions
    ==================
    1. In DSWP, everytime I have to view data, I have to click on "Setup System Monitoring" to view the alerts in the satellite system
I see a red alert reading for instance availability. Similarly,
In the system monitoring workcenter, I see the status of both the solution manager and the satellite system greyed out with a cross. When I move my mouse over it, it reads, no CCMSPING data available.
Any idea as to why this happens?
    2. For what I see after I click on "Setup System Monitoring" I have parameters which I can configure. I see default values for these parameters. Is there like a recommendation or a template which can be used to setup these monitoring parameter values?
    3. I have configured the ccmsping in the solution manager (for the solution manager) however the ccmsping service refuses to run. It throws a error reading "The system could not find the file specified". The ccmsping exe file is present in the location stated. Are there other files that this is looking for?
    4.  While registering the agent in the satellite system, I first registered with the CSMREG id. It failed with the message,
INFO: [SMG:040:CSMREG] connected to SMG, host sapsm.NA.XXX.NET, System Nr. 00, traceflag [ ]
INFO: SMG release is 701 , (kernel release 701 )
            RFC Error Info:
             message:
             status:  EXCEPTION AUTHORITY_NOT_AVAILABLE RAISED
             intstat:
          Go Ahead anyway?  n/[y] :
    INFO: handling destination SAPCCM4X.SAPR3PR1.00
    ERROR: can't register at SMG. RfcRc = 2, AUTHORITY_NOT_AVAILABLE
    RFC Error Info for SALF_CSM_AGENT_REGISTER
    message:
    status:  EXCEPTION AUTHORITY_NOT_AVAILABLE RAISED
    intstat:
I then did this with a dialog user. That worked. Agent was registered in solution manager. Any idea on why this error would show up with the CSMREG? I am concerned about issues which can come up when the password for the dialog user changes.
I am not sure how to upload screenshots of what i see, probably if i do that, it will be easy to relate to the issue which I am mentioning here. Is there a way I can do that?
Let me know if you need any more information from my side to understand this.
    Ideas will be appreciated.
    thanks
    Ravi

    Hello Ravi,
Additionally you will want to look at SAP Note 1175058 - Problems with CCMSPING in SAP Solution Manager, especially
    c) Ensure that the message server host name in the monitoring options of CCMSPING and the message server of the corresponding main instance of the relevant system is the same in the SAP Solution Manager landscape
(SMSY). Important: The monitoring options of CCMSPING must not be configured using an IP address.

  • SolMan 7.1: Unavailable data in system monitoring

    Hello experts,
I have successfully configured system monitoring for our systems. Unfortunately there is only data available for some checks and not for all.
    Information is available for:
    - Technical system (Overall availability, Overall performance, Overall exception)
    - Technical instance (Overall performance)
For all other points is no information available:
    - Technical system (overall configuration status)
    - Technical instance (overall availability, overall exception)
    - Database instance
    - Host
The status is grey and data is not available.
In the Unified landscape browser I have a green status for the SMD Agent and a red status for the Host. Maybe this is the problem?! But SAP Host Agent is started and updated to the latest version 7.20/91. Error:
getVirtualizationConfiguration:Webservice port type not enabled (SAPHostAgent version:720:91)
Failed to persist host <sap-host>. Check host status for details.
    Cannot create host '<sap-host>'
Is Wily necessary for these tests? Initial and basic configuration is successfully, but I do not have installed Wily.
    Thanks, Basti

    Hi Basti
It's worth a try, but perhabs it helps on your managed systems:
    1. Upgrade to latest Diagnostics Agent available
    2. Upgrade SAP Host Control to latest
But most important thingy to try out is:
    3. Open Command Shell (su - <daa>adm under Unix, cmd.exe as user <daa>adm under windows)
    4. Go to /usr/sap/<DAA>/SMD<Inst.Nr>/scripts (for Windows accordingly using \ on correct installation drive)
    5. Execute "smdsetup hostagent state:on"
    Hope, this helps.
    Best regards, Michael
