Solman and JDI !!!

Hi All,
<b>Solution Manager:</b>The SAP Solution Manager supports you throughout the entire lifecycle of your solutions, from the Business Blueprint thru configuration to production operation. It provides central access to tools methods and preconfigured content, that you can use during the evaluation, implementation, and productive operation of your systems.
whereas
<b>Java Development Infrastructure:</b>SAP NetWeaver Java Development Infrastructure (also named Development Infrastructure). It enhances the concept of an IDE by server-side services, which centrally provides the development teams with a consistent development environment and supports the software development during the entire life cycle of a product(Dev->QA->Prod).
can we correlate and establish a linkage between
Solman and JDI if so what points we you will consider.
Your inputs will be highly appreciated....
Regards,
RK

Hi Venkat,
good question.
Short answer is: the Solution Manager is a tool to ORGANIZE changes in a System Landscape, the NWDI is the tool to PERFORM the task for Java Development.
So both tools are meant for the same task, but on different layers. The Solution Manager uses the NWDI to perform Java Development and Modification. Besides, the Solution Manager is using a few more tools to perform the tasks, that are described by it (e.g. Software Lifecycle Manager, TMS, ...).
Have a look at the <a href="https://websmp206.sap-ag.de/instguidesnw2004s">Installation Guides for NW2004s</a> --> Installation

  • Connect Solman and third party system

What kind of RFC destination do I need to create in order to connect with Aris, I've already created TCP/IP connection but the test failed and throw an error:
    Return code: 242
    Location: SAp gateway on host/service
Detail: No connect of TP from host xxxx after 20 sec
I created a blue print in Solman and I can see it in Aris but it´s impossible to synchronize them Aris shows "Model type SAP allocation diagram is not allowed in the current filter"  I think it's because the RFC connection doesn´t work
Can you give some advice, thanks!!

  • WebAS 6.40 SP10 and JDI (SP09) out of sync

    Hallo all,
my JDI installation (SP09) is out of sync with the WebAS on which it is running (SP10). What do I have to do in order to lift the JDI on SP10? Can I go ahead and apply JDI SP10 or is there another way of getting WebAS and JDI into sync again?
As a side note: I have already started to configure DTR and CBS and failed when trying to run the CMS WebUI for configuration purposes. That's when I became aware of the problem.
I greatly appreciate any help on this!

  • Is it possible to install Solman and ERP on the single Host

    Hi,
I want to install Solution Manager 4.0 and ERP ECC 6.0 on a single Server.
So is it possible to choose the System-ID e.g. "XA0" for Solman4.0 and "XA1" for ERP ECC 6.0.
Firstly, do I need to demand two Installationnumber, one for SOLMAN and the other for ERP.
Secondly, how should I deal with the Systemnumber should I choose 00 for java and 01 for ABAP and which number should I choose for ERP.
Finally, how is it possible to access to the two system with only one server, naturally using the SAP Logon. Do the Systemnumber has a real impact on that.
Please, send me a respond as clearly as possible. I will be thankful for that.
Ps. I installed the two systems before, but unfortunately I used the instancenumber 00 for ERP. The impact on that, that I wasn't able to access Solman anyway. I used the same System-ID for Solman and ERP, does it really matter?
    Regards,
    Kais

    Hi Kias
    1. Yes
    2. Depending on if you are highly available you may need more system numbers - for example there are SCS and ASCS components. I would recommend installing 10 apart (system 00 and system 10). It makes little different which number is which.
    3. Yes, system number relates to something called ports. ports are used to listen for incoming traffic of that type. (I listen on port 3200 for the ECC system GUI traffic, I listen on 3310 for the solman RFC traffic).
If you are in the same local network as the segment you will be able to access all ports on a server, but if through a firewall or various other part of the network you are likely to need to request a few ports to be opened.
You cannot have different systems on the same number due to on one executable (not just SAP) can use a port at a time.and also such local thing like shared memory would not make this feasable.
As you installed two systems on the same system number you can start either one successfully, as long as the other is stopped at the time.
    I hope this help

  • SolMan and SNMP traps?

    Hi experts,
I'm searching some information about the possebilities with SolMan and SNMP traps.
I know that it is possible to send SNMP traps from SolMan to e.g. an external monitoring tool, to send alert information (CCMS/RZ20) to this monitoring tool.
But is it possibel to recieve SNMP traps in SolMan and e.g. create Service Desk tickets out of them?
    Thanks
    Thomas

    Thomas,
Can you please share your experience about sending SNMP traps to solution manager? I am trying to find information on how to configure Solution Manager for receiving the SNMP traps. Please guide me on this.

  • Difference between SOLMAN and ASAP Project Selector

How different is SOLMAN from ASAP Project Selector as far as roadmaps for standard SAP Implementation methodologies are concerned? Does SOLMAN consist of questionnaires like is the case with ASAP Project Selector?

    Hi Namrata
    1. How different is SOLMAN from ASAP Project Selector as far as roadmaps for standard SAP Implementation methodologies are concerned?
    A. The SOLMAN is a different tool altogether.  it is an enhancement to the ASAP Methodology for the latest versions of SAP.  In SOLMAN we will select the required business and its processes supplied by the SAP.  Whereas we need to change the necessary modifications to the required objects and do the enhancements to the default configurations.  In SOLMAN we need to define the landscape very initially.  If a project is implementing with SOLMAN, then each and every request should be routed through SOLMAN and stored in SOLMAN and also each and every requirement as well as all BPP should be kept in SOLMAN.  And configuration will also be done from SOLMAN itself, whereas earlier in ASAP methodology this doesn't exist.
    2. Does SOLMAN consist of questionnaires like is the case with ASAP Project Selector?
    A. SOLMAN will not consist any questionnaires like in ASAP project selector.  It is an extension to the ASAP methodology.  for preparing the as is study we need to follow the ASAP methodology, and for preparing the blueprint and configuration, we will use the SOLMAN.

  • Difference between NWDI and JDI

    Hi to all,
Is there any one who can give me answer on next question.
    1. What is difference between NWDI and JDI? I have got confused because I red tutorials how to configure NWDI and there are two roles that use the same UME Actions.  JDI.Administrator and NWDI.Administrator that uses CBS.Administrator and CMS.Administrate actions. Is it the same? Is NWDI is the same as JDI but for NW2004s (NW7.00)?
        Best Regards,
    Aleksandar

    Hi Aleksandar
NWDI is same as JDI but the version difference. If you just use NWDI.Administrator  it should work fine.

  • Configuration in Solman and Satellite system for Support message creation ?

    Hi ,
I want to send a support message to solman from the ( help menu -> create support message )
    of my satellite system.
any one tell me the settings that i have to make in both the sattelite system and the solman  for sending a support message.

    Hi,
the necessary steps are described in Solution Manager IMG documentation.
Also you can find that information in the web blogs in this forum.
    In a nutshell:
    - activate Service Desk in Solution Manager (incl. BC-Sets)
    - maintain System Landscape, RFCs and iBase
    - create key users (business partners)
    - maintain number ranges
    - assign roles
    - maintain table BCOS_CUST in satellite system
You should just follow the corresponding customizing steps in tx: SPRO.

  • Word 2000 with SolMan and EWA issues

    Hi,
Having a number of issues. It seems since updating SolMan to SP24 EHP1 i cannot open EWA reports in Word 2000 (updating to latest version is out of the question due to business politics). I have tried a number recomendations from OSS notes but none work. I get this error message when i select standard or short version
Required file not found -> see long text
    Message no. DSVAS813
No usable file was found for the active Office version in the report defintion.
    Procedure
    Processing cannot continue.
Please notify the person responsible for this session type or for the SAP Solution Manager, specifying the session number, session group, session type, version number and the number of the message short text.
To find session information, in the Service Session Workbench, choose Goto -> Technical Information. Specify the Office application and version (which you can find by choosing ? -> Help -> About... ) and the number of the message short text.
To create a message to SAP, choose Help -> Create Support Message.
The issue can be resolved by changing the report definition in the Service Session Workbench or importing a newer version of the session definition.
I am not sure how to change the Word version in technical Information, it seems not so "helpful" help page and how to change the report definition. Any help on this would be appreciated
I also needed to know how to send previous SAP EWA reports. The landscape is setup to send the EWA reports to SAP on a monthly basis and i need to change this to weekly. i have had a look at the EWA setup operations and it is active and all boxes are ticked.
    thanks,
    Mani

    Hello Mani,
You can send the data for ABAP system to SAP and process the EWA reports and they can be accessed via your
Service Market Place inbox, if that was an option you were seeking. How to do so, you need to follow SAP Note 207223.
The periodic SDCCN EWA task can be scheduled to recurr weekly.
EWA data on Satellite ssytems is usually only available for the past 3 weeks, as there is no intent to store the data.
Of course any EWA report can also be opened (click the link on the left side in DSWP) in HTML, so this could be a work around to get any existing or furture EWA reports generated on your Solution Manager system.
Unfortunately, because Word 2000 is no longer supported by Microsoft, there is little that can be done now, that you are on Word 2000, and have upgraded to an SP level that no longer supports Word 2000. This is your issue.
However I think I have provided some alternatives to get the reports.
    Regards,
    Paul

  • How to fetch data from SolMan and move it into SAP BI?

    Hi all,
I have the portal activity report data residing in the SolMan ( achieved by configuring portal and SolMan).  I need to extract this data from Solution Manager into SAP BI, such that i can report on the data in SAP BI using the BEx tools. How will i proceed with it ? Your response is higly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Divya.

    Hello Divya,
You must set up E2E Diagnostics for the managed system (portal system).
You can accomplish this by running transaction solman_setup  in the Sollution Manager and ensure that Initial and Basic Configurations are performed. Afterwards, you must follow the Managed System Configuration (also in solman_setup) for the managed system.
Afterwards you must activate some specific Portal Activity Data Collectors following the note 1309740.
    Best regards,
    Guilherme Balbinot

  • SolMan and Dev client

    Hello!
We are in the configuration phase now using SM4.0. Our  SolMan-Prod is connected to the Dev client (Golden client) as target. The team is configuring using solar02 and accessing the IMG and completing the configuration document. Some team members access the Dev client directly and complete the configuration, My question is,
How do I restrict access to the Dev client directly by the team members?
The team members should have access to the Dev-IMG thro' SolMan only and not directly. That way there is better control in the configuration phase.
    Appreciate any inputs.
    Thanks.
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
I have heared colleagues saying that it can be achieved by restricting access to SPRO in the DEV system.
But the RFC connection b/n SolMan & the Dev system should have full access.
Let me know whether it helps.
    best regds,
    Alagammai.

  • SolMan and multiple SAP customers

As a consultant, I'm in the middle of installing and configuring SolMan 4.0 for a client.  This client is currently running many SAP systems as they have gone through a couple mergers over the past few months/years.  As a result, they have multiple SAP Customer numbers.
Now when you enter the Global Settings for the system you only have the option of ONE "S" id which of course is associated with ONE customer.  As a result certain functions, like Maintaining Service Connections, sychronizing data with the Support Portal and other things don't work correctly.
Is there any any way around this limitation?  The customer is working with SAP to merge the contracts, and hence get all systems under one customer, but due to contact jurisdicational issues this could take a while
What I need is either a way to put multiple "S" ids under the Global Settings (and of course have the system try them all until the function works) or be able to associate ONE "S" id with multiple customers.  Is this possible?
    Thanks.

    Hi Murray,
currently the only way is to merge contracts under one group key as the customer does. We plan a functionality within Solution Manager to solve this problem also for customers that do not belong to the same group but there is no definite schedule for this. Sorry I can give you no other answer.
    Regards
    Andreas
