Solman Configuration

Dears,
I am configuring solman 7.0 on windows 2003 server and database is Oracle 10g.Presently I am doing system monitoring configuration in which I have created a solution and then created system in SMSY and assigned logical component to it.Now when I am going in DSWP under services Setup System Monitoring option is not available to configure System Monitoring.
Please suggest do i have to activate any parameter or anything for it.
Shivam

Hi Shivam,
Please try this.
1) SMSY transaction.
2) Choose the systems for which you want to have a montoring system. For eg, ABC(CRM System) and DEF(ERP System) .
Select the client for which RFC destinations are created. Choose the button "Assign and Check RFC Destination".
3) I guess here in the "Currently Assigned RFC Destinations" under "Assign RFC Dest. for System Monitoring" option is blank.
4) Select the check box "Assign RFC Dest. for System Monitoring" and click on "Check RFC Destinations" button at the bottom.
Then it will display the results in green. Click on "F3" button and then click on check mark. Now when you check back       the same step the the RFC Destinations will be displayed.
5) Do the above step individually for the systems that need to be monitored.
6) DSWP-> Operations Setup-> Solution Monitoring-> System Monitoring, Now the Setup System Monitoring option is enabled.
Thanks & Best Regards,
Raghavendra.

  • Quality Center/Solman configuration help

Hi.  We're having some issues with our Quality Center/SolMan integration.  We had it set up and working, and now "something" changed but we're not sure what, and our QC guru quit a few weeks back
We seem to be having authorization issues, but we're not sure where the config issue is.  We have a user trying to push data from the Solman instance to Quality Center - when we look in the QC App server log, we see this.
com.hp.erp.ei.service.sm.base.exceptions.AuthorizationException: User is not authorized to perform the action PushBlueprintAction
the user is an admin on the QC system, the ID that was initially configured in Solman to handle the transfer also 'seems' to have the correct permissions.  Where do we need to start looking to solve this?
What other information can I provide to help this out?

  • SolMan configuration - Message type "e" is unknown

    Hi all,
every time i select the step 6.6 (Connect Diagnostics Agents to Solution Manager) of the System Preparation in SolMan 7.1 SP11 i receive the following message (and related dump in ST22).
    Message type "e" is unknown.
Same thing happens in two different Solution Manager (same version and SPS).
Looking for SAP Notes without help.
    Any suggestions?
    Regards.

    Hello guys,
    We have a similar issue.
Here is why we got to this error. When i setup the SLD in step 6.1 i used another system, and the Solution Manager was non existent in that SLD/LMDB.
I now configured a local SLD in 6.1 and created a local LMDB.
I am now running the synchronization again ( which as you know takes a while ).
Probably the easiest way would have been just to define the system in the first LMDB, but in our case it's a development system and i wanted to try this also.
I will let you know after the sync is finished.

  • Solman configuration before new SP stack implementation

    Hello!
Solman SP Stack was updated to 18 (without configuration).
Need I configure SolMan before new stack implementation? Could I do it after import?
I used solman maintenance optimizer earlier to approve support packages...

You can configure before or after - just make sure that any transports that you create when doing your configuration are released prior to doing the EhP1 Upgrade and you shouldn't have any problems.

  • No IBase/Component transferred in SLFN from a satellite system to Solman

    Dear all,
We have Solution Manager 4.0 with SPS18 with working ChaRM and Service desk.
I have the following problem : a support message (created from the menu   Help->Create Support Message  in a satellite system) arrives to Solman,  but the fields Ibase and Component are filled by zeros and are inactive so I canu2019t change them manually.
The question is: are these values transferred from the satellite system to SolMan or not?
I have debuged the program calling under Help->Create Support Message   and have not found such functionality.
From the other hand, all forum messages implicitely imply this.
Due to technical reasons I canu2019t use notif_create transaction, where there are Ibase and component  fields.
From the SolMan configuration side everything is OK:
System landscape is correct, Ibase and components are generated and active, they have the correct external names.  The functionality of ChaRM that utilises Ibase and components is working well, so I donu2019t see any problems from this side.  OSS 449330 (delete the record from BCOS_CUST table with the value u201CTST_CUSu201D in Application field ) is not the case.
    Please advice.

    Hi,
In this case, could you please kindly verify the points mentioned in this note has been verified ?

  • Problem in Application Help Configuration in Solution Manager

    Hi Experts,
Here I facing one problem during Application Help configuration..
When I am going through application help for Solman Configuration it's taking me to standard erp help..
Where as in SR13, under PlainHtmlHttp,
In path tab I had given <b>saphelp_sm40/helpdata</b> for solution manager document.
But for other standard t-code it's giving actual application help.
where for SMSY,SOLAR01 etc i am not getting the application help.
    Looking for advices.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sumanta Chatterjee

    Dear Sumanta,
This depends on how you want to (or how you can) use this http://help.
    sap.com site.
At first you must be aware of the different areas on this site, these
areas have different URL structures, for example:
    - http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2004 <<< for mySAP ERP
    - http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200  <<< for R3 Enterprise
    - http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04    <<< for SAP NetWeaver 04
    - http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm32    <<< for SAP Solution Manager 3.2
The main problem is that in the area "http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm32"
there is only online documentation for the Solution Manager
    functionality.
Can you please check the table SBAON_CCHK with transaction SE16.
    The following record must exist:
    MANDT COMPONENT                NAME_EN
    xxx   ST                       Solar Help
If this record does not exist, please create this record manually.
This should help resolve the issue.

  • Reducing the memory footprint of our Sybase ASE based SolMan install

    Hello All,
We are doing a test install of SAP Solution Manager 7.01 on Sybase ASE 15.7.
Since this is just a test setup, we started off with a lower-than-recommended hardware configuration (4 GB RAM only) due to time constraints and since we were 'assured' that we could do basic testing with this setup.
While post install performance of SolMan was decent, performance during solman_setup (setting up technical monitoring) has become appalling. We are not able to complete the configuration process at all as the SolMan configuration web application has become very unpredictable and extremely slow.
The SolMan install is centralized and on a windows 2008 box. Windows task manager shows consistent memory usage of up to 90 - 95%. We also tried reducing the total number of work processes to just 8 but that did not help much. We see in 'task manager > resource monitor' that sqlserver.exe process is taking a shareable working set close to 2 GB of RAM whereas the committed memory much less (34 MB). Please tell us about any memory optimization we can perform for SolMan / Sybase ASE in order to complete technical monitoring setup using Solman_setup. We were hoping that we could change the  'total logical memory' setting for the DB directly using DBACOCKPIT tcode (in order to reduce the max memory setting) but could not do so as the it seems to be read-only. We could not find much documentation/posts regarding memory optimization for the DB. Please help out. Thanks!
    -Regards,
    Arvind

FWIW ... ASE's 'max memory' setting can be changed on the fly, while 'total logical memory' is a calculated value that you cannot change (ie, it's 'read only'; changing 'max memory' will cause 'total logical memory' to change automatically). [NOTE: DBACOCKPIT is a SAP-provided application that sits on top of ASE; while I know what's doable when connected directly to ASE I do not know if DBACOCKPIT has disabled the ability to change some configuration settings like 'max memory'.]
As for the SolMan performance issues ... I'd recommend reposting your issue in the SAP Applications on ASE discussion group where you're likely to get the attention of more folks with SAP application (on ASE) experience.  (While someone may jump in here with SolMan suggestions, SolMan is a SAP application and this group isn't really geared towards SAP applications.)

  • Quick Question about Solman

    Hi Gurus,
I am New to Solman but trying my best
I have solman configured and service desk with the basic configuration..But here the situation is when i am trying to create the message from the satellite system i can only able to create and send the message if my user exists in solman.
Do we need to Define all the users in solman again..
or is there any other process for this..please advice.

    Guru,
The Solution Manager uses the Trusted RFC (or otherwise) defined in the table BCOS_CUST - it is this connection that defines how the users are authenticated to the Solution Manager.  You can create a custom RFC using a static userid rather than the current user but all messages created in the system would be generated with the Static ID of the Trusted RFC you use.
So the answer is yes you can - but there are consequences of these actions.
There are advantages to this down the road that make life easier such that under certain circumstances, you might not want everyone out ther to be able to put in messages.  It may sound a bit odd but under the circumstances of a system-wide issue, you could get hundreds of repetative tickets that will clog the system and cause your service desk to have to do a few hours of clean-up.
So there is hope on doing this if you have large volumes or regular changes to employee base that require updates, it would be worth your time to do a simple BDC Program that puts in the UserID and BP with respective CRM Keys for remote systems.
Hope that answers your question - if so please set this thread to answered.

  • SolMan is Central System, how to seperate the database to make it distribut

    Hi,
    I really need some advice.
currently SolMan 7.1 on SQLServer2008R2 on Windows08R2 is installed as a central system installation (CI&DB same host).
Due to some security policy (long story), I need to seperate the DB, to move the DB to another server, making SolMan a distributed system (CI remain on existing host, DB on a different host).
SolMan is currently already fully setup and communicating to all my other SAP systems.
What will be the easiest way to move my SQLServer DB to another server?
Will this involve needing to reinstall my CI (Abap+Java) and SCS? If no reinstallation, then how do I make the current CI talk to the relocated DB?
What is the method that will have no impact on the SolMan configurations, meaning non of the connectivity from SolMan to the other SAP systems will break after the seperation of the DB?
    regards,
    Nick

    I would
    - shutdown the system (SAP + database) and make sure the services are all stopped
    - copy the database over to a new server and start it (use Note 151603 - Copying an SQL Server database)
    - set up the environment on the SolMan system to point to the new server (Note 98678 - SQL Server Connection Issues)
    - start the instance
    - if it starts remove the local installed database

  • Solman connection with DEV + prodcution server

    Dear friends,
    Pls give the link for
    1.    SOLMAN configuration .... connection with DEVELOPMENT  server and PRODUCTION   server
    2. Then .. if any document or pdf is uploaded in Development .. It is also display  in SOLMAN.
    thanks
    Lee

    Dear Lee,
Here are the steps to connect an Satellite System to Solman applicable to both Dev and Prd Systems :
    1. Create the Server / Database / System Component in transaction SMSY (
Landscape Components ) to define the system to Solman. In the System component ensure that you have generated RFC's to the relevant clients of the satellite system using the Generate RFC function.
    2. Then in transaction SMSY itself , Create an Logical Component for the product amd product version of the system and assign the system to the logical component as per the logical role of the system like DEV / QAS / PRD.
    3. Then Create an Solution in transaction DSWP and add the Logical component to the Solution in the Solution Settings.
Bingo. Here you are set to either setup system monitoring for the satellite system or to generate EWA's for the satellite system or to configure Service desk and all other related scenarios.
I hope these steps help you configure Solman.
    Regards
    Amit

  • PI Monitoring dashboard in SOLAMN 7.0 EHP1

The functionality of reviewing your PI components through Solution manager is
mentioned in many presentation of SOLMAN configuration and in sap.help.
However it is only documented in SOLMAN 7.1 documents.
Are you familair with PI Monitoring as part of Solution manager configuration using transaction SOLMAN_SETUP
    for ver. 7.01 SP 26 ?

    Hello,
The PI dashboards are available only in Solution Manager 7.1
For EHP1 you have the regular monitoring tools: Wily Introscope and the E2E Workload Analysis.

  • CCMS & Me !!

guys, I have already read the documentation on help.sap.com and also ADM106 and ADM107 courses. So i am not gonna ask you about how to configure this and that. However, I have some basic questions about CCMS that I need some clarification on.
We have a 3 system ECC 6.0 landscape with dev, qa and prod. systems. My main goal of using CCMS is to use availability monitoring among other monitors. I would like to choose a CEN out of the 3 systems, but I do not understand which one to setup as CEN. In the SAP course documentation and advise from a basis friend tells me to setup the PROD system as CEN. But my question is that if i setup PROD as CEN, then how do i get alerted ( i plan to setup email auto alert norification) when the the CEN (i.e PROD) instances are down itself ???? In other words, if my Production Central Instance goes down due to lets say OS failure, then how will i get alerted because SAP wont be able to send any alert notification through email ??? And ofcourse Production is the system that one would be most worried about. So, Is setting up DEV or QA as the CEN a better option ????
Secondly, we also have sol man 7.0. I understand that you can use sol man to display the alerts in your satellite systems including the CEN in sol man. So, does this mean that sol man is only used to display all the alerts in a central location. It does not really do anything on its own, like auto reactions etc. Hence, even if i setup sol man and connect it to all my 3 systems, and lets say my Production DB server is down due to a power outage, no alert would get generated by sol man ???? OR WILL ONE BE ??? Also lets say the QA db server goes down. So will the auto reaction email be sent out from the my CEN (the production system) or the Sol. man ?
Thanks for reading. Any inputs would be appreciated.

    Hi,
As you mentioned that you have a Solution Manager in your landscape, I would recommend to setup the
SolMan as the CEN itself. SAP ITSAM Standard experts suggested me the same. The SolMan configur-
ation automatically connects it to the SMP. Furthermors, all you need to do is register the three
systems DEV, QA and PROD onto the SolMan.
Registering systems from availability monitoring is explained in the setup documents in SMP:
    http://service.sap.com/solutiomanager
Once the systems are registered, any changes to the systems is notified via the SolMan/CEN.

    Srikishan
