Solman Implementation - writing a tender

Hi,
Currently I am working on upgrade 4.6c to ECC 6.0. We should start using solman in near future, and
for this reason I should write tender documentation for solman implementation in our company.
How to start writing this, and what critical points to mantion in tender?? It is tender for full solman implementation. maybe something like this:
chapter 1. Description of our landscape?
chapter 2. What functionalities we want from solman? etc.
Please give me some help on how to start, or post some example of tender documentation
on sap solman implementation.
Thanks a lot
Nihad

Hi,
Please can you help me with writing solman implementation specification?
Do you have any documents regarding solman implementation steps?
What would you write in documentation if you would like to have solman functions implemented
on your system? Is it necessary to describe landscape, to write exactly what you want from solman
etc...
Thanks
Nihad

    Hi gurus ,
    i need the check  list for solution manager implementation and what are the things to be discuss with the client , i am new to SOLMAN, i have to do this by the evening , any one can help me out
    Cheers

    Hi Gopal,
    I am not sure if this thread of yours is in continuation of the other thread you have started which has been replied by two other Forum members.
    The checklist depends upon which Scenario(s) of SolMan you are trying to implement.
    - Implementation/ Upgrade of ERP systems
    - Service Desk
    - Change Request Monitoring
    - Diagnostics
    - Solution Monitoring (includes BPM/ Interface monitoring)
    - Delivery of SAP Services (EWA, .....)
    Unless you specify the scenario you are seeking information on, it is difficult for anyone to pose a satisfactory reply.

  • Re: IDOC implementation for Load Tender Notifications (EDI 204) - Outbound

    Dear Members,
    We started work on automating sending/receiving the Carrier Related documents from SAP at out end through EDI ( SAP 4.6C version).
    Here's my requirement :
    Load Tender : EDI 204 ( Development - Outbound process)
    I hope that for EDI 204, we can use SAP IDOC - SHPMNT01. Could someone please guide me on whether my understanding is correct and which SAP IDOCS to use for these EDI doc?
    Thanks,
    Vass

    Hi ,
    Based on the Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12 format, the 204 can be used to allow shippers and other interested parties to offer (tender) a shipment to a full load (truckload) motor carrier that includes detailed scheduling, equipment requirements, commodities, and shipping instructions pertinent to a load tender. It is not to be used to provide a motor carrier with data relative to a Less-than-Truckload Bill of Lading, pick-up notification, or manifest.

  • Estimated time to implement Service desk with ChaRM

    Hi,
    I am going to be involved in a SolMan implementation, covering more or less the whole standard scenario of Help desk and Change Request Management.
    Apart from developments, approximately how much time shall I consider for the project, and what is the split for these two scenarios? We are going to manage a single R/3 instance with circa 20 SolMan users in SolMan. The implementation team consists of 3 colleagues, none of them is a real expert.
    Sure no one can tell me exact numbers, I just need some good estimation.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ádá

    I guess it should take minimum 4 weeks to understand the whole process and implement it without hassles, including any custom configuration which you would like to do for your organization.

  • Linking solution manager projects with CHARM implementation project

    Hi Guys,
    Currently i am working in CHARM implementation project, i have created one CHARM implementation project with urgent correction and i am able to create the Transport request and release the transport request succesfully and i am able to move it to quality system successfully. But my customer is asking to link the solution manager project to CHARM implementation project.
    Earlier before implementing CHARM they have implemented project managent in solution manager, during that project they have created so many projects which are currently running, now they want those projects to be linked CHARM implementation project.
    When ever they create a transport request through CHARM they want the TP to be saved under a respective project which they are using currently. but according to my knowledge the TP can be saved under CHARM implementation project only.
    Now i want to know whether the projects created in SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN can be linked to CHARM implementation project. Pls give ur valuable inputs as it is very urgent.
    Thanks&Regards

    Hello,
    We have implemented this with two systems landscape where in we have in place a Solution Manager Dev system and Solution manager Production system both are SOLMAN 4.0 with SP12. So the path for us to move the changes is from Development Systems to Production system.
    We have ChaRM between the Dev and production. We reapplied the satellite system concept. For us the Solution manager Prod is a satellite systems all the changes that we move from Development system to Production systems is tracked with necessary documentation in the ChaRM process.
    Yes, I agree with you that this is not any big magic. Working with two SOLMAN implementation, I strongly feel that SAP needs to have well rounded ChaRm processes. We have robust Change Management Process, but when we moved to ChaRM we were limited functionality of the ChaRM processes.
    I had approached and did some research on how other companies are implementing the same process. Most of them have almost the same process for tracking SOLMAN changes. I am still look out for improved process to manage SOLMA changes.
    Hope this helps!!! Thanks

  • Handling Solution Manager changes with ChaRM (ChaRM on SolMan PRD)

    Hi Experts,
    Having deployed ChaRM to satellite system (three system landscape) we became interested in handling Solution Manager changes with ChaRM. We have operable ChaRM in SolMan 4.0 SP12.
    We have DEV and PRD for SolMan so we are talking about two system landscape.
    Has anyone of you done this? Does it go the same way as if SolMan was a real satellite system (rfc's=>tms=>ibase=>organization=>project=>MC=>CRs = order of configurations roughly).
    I tried searching specific instructions for this deployment but it seems that configuration guides etc focus on satellite system handling. Our need is basically to document and control SolMan changes and with ChaRM we could.
    Perhaps there is no magic to this and everything goes just like in satellite, but I would appreciate any experiences others may have had doing this.
    Kind regards,
    Auli

  • SolMan certification

    Hi,
    I am a Basis Consultant & planning to do certification in Solution Manager.
    As per Certification Finder I have below options relevant to my field:
    - SAP Certified Solution Consultant IT Excellence - SAP Solution Manager 7.0 Operations
    - SAP Certified Solution Consultant - Managing E2E Solution Operations (with Run SAP)
    & few more operations specific topics.
    I want to know
    1. whether certification in SolMan Implementation Tools (SMI310) will be valuable for technology consultants like me or not.
    2. are sample questions/dumps available anywhere for above topics?
    please suggest.

  • Is there a reason for me to buy Acro 10?

    Something I sorely need Acrobat to do is not provided in Acrobat 9, and I'm wondering whether Acro 10 can do it. Specifically, I'm continually building multiple long  documents with very large numbers of video clips in them, for all of which I want the SAME parameters every time (floating window, stay open forever, etc.).At present (Acro 9) I must enter all the parameters again and again for every single clip. This could be solved if any of the following were true:
    - If Acro 10 has a way to enable me to provide these parameters as DEFAULTS so I don't have to re-enter them; or...
    - If Acro 10 has a macro language such that I could record a keystroke macro (better yet, enter appropriate commands in an editor) to set all these parms (essentially what the dialogs now do laboriously), where I could just fire it off with a single key combination like Alt+A or whatever.
    Would Acro 10's Javascript enable something like this? I've never used it but I've written lots of Javascript for web pages. Do I miss my guess that your Javascript is only for responding to pre-arranged events triggered by the reader of the resulting PDF? I'm talking here about design time.
    (Up to now my best solution has been AutoHotkey, a macro language for Windows in general, but I'm hoping you have something built in that's easier. AutoHotkey does not always adapt to particular details of each situation.)
    - A partial solution would be if I could do major editing to PDF files after they're built instead of just the puny touch-up function. This is academic writing, which tends to require major editing and re-editing. As it is, I have to get every document nearly perfect before I undertake the laborious process of inserting all the video.
    Thanks for your help.

    Acrobat 10 doesn't have any different capabilities than 9 that will help you. What's available to JavaScript is very limited and not the type of things you need.

  • Flash media server taking forever to load large files

    We purchased FMIS and we are encoding large 15+ hour MP4 recordings using flash media encoder. When opening these large files for playback, which have not been opened recently  the player displays the loading indicator for up to 4 minutes! Once it has apparently been cached on the server it opens immediately from any browser even after clearing local browser cache. So a few questions for the experts
    1. Why is it taking so long to load the file. Is it because the MP4 metadata is in the wrong format and the file is so huge? I read somewhere that Media Encoder records with incorrect MP4 metadata is that still the case?
    2. Once its cached on the server, exactly how much of it is cached. Some of these files are larger than 500mb.
    3. What fms settings do you suggest I change. FMIS is running on windows server R2 64 bit, but FMIS itself is 32 bit. We have not upgraded to the 64 bit version. We have 8GB of ram. Is it OK to set FMS cache to 3GB. And would that only have enough room for 3-4 large files, because we have hundreds of them.

    Hi Tuviah,
    You may want to email me offline about more questions here as it can get a little specific but I'll hit the general problems here.
    MP4 is a fine format, and I won't speak ill of it, but it does have weaknesses.  In FMS implementation those weaknesses tend to manifest around the combination of recording and very large files, so some of these things are a known issue.
    The problem is that MP4 recording is achieved through what's called MP4 fragmentation.  It's a part of the MP4 spec that not every vendor supports, but has a very particular purpose, namely the ability to continually grow an MP4 style file efficiently.  Without fragments one has the problem that a large file must be constantly rewritten as a whole for updating the MOOV box (index of files) - fragments allow simple appending.  In other words it's tricky to make mp4 recording scalable (like for a server ) and still have the basic MP4 format - so fragments.
    There's a tradeoff to this however, in that the index of the file is broken up over the whole file.  Also likely these large files are tucked away on a NAS for you or something similar.  Normal as you likely can't store all of them locally.  However that has the bad combo of needing to index the file (touching parts of the whole thing) and doing network reads to do it.  This is likely the cause of the long delay you're facing - here are some things you can do to help.
    1. Post process the F4V/MP4 files into non fragmented format - this may help significantly in load time, though it could still be considered slow it should increase in speed.  Cheap to try it out on a few files. (F4V and MP4 are the same thing for this purpose - so don't worry about the tool naming)
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashmediaserver/tool_downloads/
    2. Alternatively this is why we created the raw: format.  For long recording mp4 is just unideal and raw format solves many of the problems involved in doing this kind of recording.  Check it out
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flashmediaserver/devguide/WSecdb3a64785bec8751534fae12a16ad027 7-8000.html
    3. You may also want to check out FMS HTTP Dynamic Streaming - it also solves this problem, along with others like content protection and DVR and it's our most recent offering in tech, so it has a lot of strengths the other areas don't.

  • Mail stalls receiving messages from Mail Delivery System MAILER-DAEMON

    When there's a post of this kind in on the server, Mail stalls while downloading and I then need to forve quite mail, go online, remove the message from the server, then launch mail, <Opt-X> to destroy the mail, reapeatedly ( as it tried to hang around) then download again, successfully.
    Why does this happen, and how can I prevent it in future?

    Apple's mail software is is quite poorly implemented. It tends to hog your machine's resources. I don't think there is anything you can do other than use another mail client or wait for Apple to provide a decent implementation of a mail client.

  • Flash game problem: Game wont start until user clicks stage

    Hi Everyone,
    I'm a student at Drexel University and I just completed a basic platformer for a actionscript class. My professor docked me some points for the game not working until the user actually clicks within the swf. I've heard that this problem is caused on mac osx, but I don't have any concrete evidence to get the points back. Can anyone help? Here's a link to the game if you want to check it out. Thanks a lot!
    http://sandbox.westphal.drexel.edu/~kg394/DIGM265.html

    It was also required on my PC using IE8, so your Mac theory is out.  If it requires that you set focus on the stage to get it running, then you probably want to have focus set there using code as soon as the game section starts... but I usually have a heck of a time managing focus with actionscript... regardless of how they say to implement it, it tends to not work for me on any reliable basis (probably just Murphy's Law).

  • Styling text to underline on hover in flex 4

    I'm sure there's an incredibly easy way to do this, but I've been searching for a while now and haven't turned it up.
    What I want to to is have a bunch of label components throughout my application that will change their text style to underline on hover.
    I sort of got it to work using a very clunky onMouseOver/onMouseOut implementation, but it tends to sometimes leave the text underlined after the mouse moves off the text.
    Also, the event.target  that came back to the handler was unpredictable. Sometimes it was the label component, sometimes a textline object.
    Ideally I'd prefer to do this via CSS. Any ideas welcome!

    Got a similar problem in Flex SDK 3.5, didn't check in SDK 4 yet.
    Changing underline via CSS is simple. In your CSS prepare something like
    Label.clickable {
        textDecoration: underline;
    Label.nonclickable {
        textDecoration: none;
    Label.clickableOver {
        textDecoration: underline;
        color: #333333;
    and handle mouseOver and mouseOut events:
    <mx:Label mouseOver="onMouseRoll(event)" mouseOut="onMouseRoll(event)" ... />
    In a single method like below
                private function onMouseRoll(event:MouseEvent):void {
                    if (event.type == MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER) {
                        event.target.styleName = "clickableOver";
                    } else {
                        event.target.styleName = "clickable";
    or create 2 separate handlers for each event.
    Whenever required set styleName to "nonclickable" to turn underline off. I do that when label should become inactive.
    My problem is that underline sticks, even when styleName is forced on the label by all means.
    Even FlexSpy shows underline="none" for the label, which is still underlined on the screen.
    After couple hours of waisted time switched to direct control over textDecoration style for the label object, which works always.
    If anyone has related experience or knows if that's a bug please share.
    Thanks.

  • Problem with UFF 58

    Hi.
    I'm trying to perform a modal analysis from the frequency reponse function obtained with the Impact Test with Software Trigger (DAQmx) VI (http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/3438). I need to write this data into a UFF 58 file and I used the write_to _uff58.vi present in the Sound and Vibration Toolkit. However, there seems to be a problem because I got a uff file in UFF 58b (binary) and I need this in UFF 58 (ASCII).
    Find here attached the VI's I'm using. How can I write this in UFF 58 (ASCII).
    Cheers,

    Hello,
    Writing to UFF 58 ASCII is currently not supported. Please, take 5 minutes to fill in a Product Suggestion Request:
    http://digital.ni.com/applications/psc.nsf/default?openform
    From NI, we take our customers requests very seriously. Also, be aware of next LabVIEW 2010 release in early August since the S&V Toolkit might already implement writing to UFF 58 ASCII.
    Best regards.

  • Check if folder is writeable

    Hi all,
    I have an air app which runs fine. My only concern deals with soem folder I ask user to pick.
    Some folders that I think are system protected lead my application to fail.
    For example, any subfolder of the opt folder on my mac.
    So I am searching without luck how to check if the selected folder is writeable or not ? Any insight ?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hello,
    there is no api to test for attributes (like canRead/canWrite/isHidden/etc). You could cast your vote here:
    http://ideas.adobe.com/ct/ct_a_view_idea.bix?c=9D564F43-979A-4E35-AA21-85A61B6AB8DE&idea_i d=852B26FE-E642-428B-A8F8-1A6E7284FDC5
    Existing solutions:
    #1
    do runtime error check with try/catch or by listening to appropriate error events that can be broadcasted by given operation (move/copy or write etc). If I'm not wrong there is runtime specific error for media which is read-only.
    We have to check for runtime errors as "read/write" of directory is not exactly the same if application has appropriate privileges to do I/O operation with given directory.
    #2
    when you try to "open" FileStream for "WRITE" on in synchronous mode (so not openAsync) it will throw immediate runtime error when application cannot open filestream for "WRITE" mode:
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/ActionScriptLangRefV3/flash/filesystem/FileStream.html #open()
    I don't think that is recommended way to test-by-action if directory is writable - but would work anyway if you're implementing writing feature into selected directory
    #3
    you could asynchronously use NativeProcess to run system shell functions:
    [code]
    ls -lo <YOUR_PATH_HERE_QUOTED_IF_REQUIRED>
    to see what are attributes of path selected by user. This data would arrive asynchronously and would require you to parse it as it arrives in format like:
    rwxr-xr-x@ 3 $USER  staff  102 Jun  5 12:38 /opt
    (related api for Windows is ATTRIB)
    hth,
    kind regards,
    Peter
