Solman_Setup basic config - No free number range available

Dear Solution manager Gurus -
We have recently upgraded our Solution manager to 7.1 SP 11 (latest).
While doing
Solman Basic configuration in Solman_setup.
in Step 7- Maintain Systems in iBase, Step "Maintain number range for material", we get the error as "No free number range available.".
We have reviewed SAP note 1741109 - ITSM 7.1 - Generation of IBase Components is not working and followed all the steps.
However the error we are getting is "No Free number range available" is not mentioned anywhere in the above note.
I have also created OSS message for SAP to look at, no reply from SAP yet.
Please advise.

Please call the T_CODE- /nCOMC_MATERIALID_ALL
Select LMDB--> Display Intervals--> Delete the intervals marked with check box--> "External"
Do the same for CMDB.
Then change the intervals in order for LMDB- ....7100000000.--> .........7199...
CMDB---> ..........72000......--> .......7299......
And then follow note: 1741109-- Here the activity "Maintain Number Range for Material" will be explained detailed:
For Database (LMDB), number range 00000000007300000000 to 00000000007399999999
For Host (LMDB), number range 00000000007400000000 to 00000000007499999999

Find Free Number Ranges of Customer and Vendor Accounts

Hi,
We have a requirement where we want to report to customer the free numbers present in customer and Vendor Accounts Groups.
To solve this, I went through XKN1 and XDN1, where I go the current number for each Vendor and Customer Account Group.
But the customer is having a strange requirement. They want to know, the free numbers available in these customer range.
Please see the attached doc for the requirement and the solution which has been given.
Please let me know, how to find the free numbers available in SAP system.

Hello Devdath,
You can go to table KNA1. In the selection criteria, give the number range for each Account group and click on Number of entries.
This will give you the number of customers created for that account group. SUbtract this number from the total number to get the Balance.
Note: This is for the number ranges which are externally defined.
For internally defined number ranges, you can simply go to XDN1 and get the balance.
Similarly for Vendors, use table LFA1

Assessment: number range problem

my problem is the following: I try to perform an assessment (Tx code 3KE5), but I receive an error message in the "display EC-PCA: Actual assessment basic list " screen:
Document number: range not found
And further:
Document number: range not found
Message no. GA703
Diagnosis
An error occurred during document number determination. No range was found for number range object GL_LOCAL, sub-object 0010.
System Response
No document number was determined. Results could not be updated.
Procedure
Inform the person in charge of number ranges.
Could anyone help me.

Hi Seth,
I checked out table NRIV and found entry....
But in GB02 I have the following problem:
when I try to create an interval for the group (group maintenance) I choose "Act. document from direct posting with GB0" ...
There is no displayed number range and when I try to create it, it is not possible because there is already an existing number range, but it can't activate it...
An it takes all the available range (from 000000000 to 9999999999)

How to copy CO Document Number Ranges in KANK.

I need to config CO Document Number Ranges in KANK.
I want to copy the existing group and elements from controlling area 0001 (provided in SAP) to my controlling area.
But, there is an error message saying that my controlling area and the controlling area 0001 have different elements and thus can not be copied.
Why is that?
And, how to copy it so I can have the same groups, intervals, and elements with controlling area 0001?

My client wants 2 things in OM:
1) 9 Digit Org Unit Code
2) Mixture of Alphabets and Numbers for Unit code.
Can anyone suggest which one is possible and if both are possible?

Personnel Management  Organizational Management  Basic Settings  Maintain Number Ranges  Maintain Number Ranges.
You must assign a unique no. for every object, Eight digit numeric.
for example
IN refers to internal assignment.
EX refers to External assignment.
It is recommended to maintain Internal Assignment for all your objects such as C - Job,
O - Org. Units and S Positions.

Mass Number range buffering issue

Hi ,
We are facing issue with the buffering of mass number range allocated to document type of cheque lot. While executing transaction FP25 system is giving error "No free number range is found for document type xx". We have checked the object FKK_BELEG in SNRO there "No Buffering" is defined and also in number ranges its showing enough numbers to be used. Mapping in the system for mass processing is like that :-
DT From To Status
X2 0XX00000000 - 00XXXXXXXXXXXX - XXXXXXXXX693
Also while in initial postings system always take alternate numbers for posting.
Any suggestion to resolve this will be highly appreciated.

But the infoobject which iam transporting is not the 0PRODID but is an Attribute.

If not first generate the Number range or go with the RSRV run the test with Master and do the transport

1.Even if you create each sales office as a plant,as per the standard you will not get any number for that plant or sales office right you need to define only the name and discription there is no number range avail for plant creation or sales office creation am I right !
2.You can control the number range at sales order only like if the sales order creates under that sales office you can get specific number range which is related to that sales office through User Exit.
Go through this user exit
USEREXIT_NUMBER_RANGE (program MV45AFZZ)

To get next free number for External Number Range, I have used NUMBER_GET_NEXT Function module.
It is throws the exception like NUMBER_RANGE_NOT_INTERN.
How can i get the next free number for external number range object. And How to update the Current Number for External Number Range Object
Scenario.
Call Function module              NUMBER_GET_NEXT
Import Parameter.
NR_RANGE_NR : 02
OBJECT            : RV_BELEG
QUANTITY         : 00000000000000000001
I am getting Exception : NUMBER_RANGE_NOT_INTERN

Hi Anand,
The SAP system issues the numbers for internal number range intervals automatically. This number is between the from-number and the to-number. The last number issued is logged in the current number level.
You need to enter a number for external number issue. The number you enter needs to be between the from-number and the to-number. For external number ranges, the number number used is not logged. So the next available number is not possible in a straight forward way.
Only for Internal number ranges, the FM NUMBER_GET_NEXT can get the next available number.

Hi,
This facility is provided just to differenciate your free issues documents from normal sales documents and nothing much. This means if you want to make a report depending upon free issues number range then you can get the results as per the free issues number range. For example if you customer has been doing business in various countries and each county wants specific number range for their documents then you'll use an exit which will assign the required number range specific to the country.

Hi Lucie,
This happens due to buffering of the number range in question. You can go to SNRO transaction (object KREDITOR) and change the buffering options (deactivate them, actually). Please, consult your ABAP team before doing this. For more info, see note 62077.

I want to create a new type document for purchase orders, and create new number range. Everything is ok under this.
But my problem is that i want to make the number range free. Ie when a create a new purchase order for this new type of document, i want to make possible te enter my own numebr of purchase order.

I dont think this is possible to have this functionality.
External Number ranges are there but they are used for a different fucntionality like in SRM if you have integrated R/3 with SRM, the PO from SRM will be flowing into the R/3, that time it will take the external number range.

How to get NEXT free NUMBER for EXTERNALLY assigned RANGEs - SNUM, MD91 ?

I know that, with the FM - NUMBER_GET_NEXT_V1, I can get the next # for most document #s.
But, this FM is ONLY applicable to INTERNAL NUMBER RANGE.
1 - But., am working with EXTERNAL NUMBER RANGE, so looking forward for a FM/BAPI, which gives me next free # for use.
2 - If nothing is there, How to get it done? Is directly grabbing the latest # from the table/data base?
3 - Any other ideas?

For an example
Look at Attributes for SAP function ' L_TO_CONFIRM_SU' . Observe the radio button 'REmote-enabled function module - 2nd one.
Then you can see under source code it calls other SAP FMs. This is where you call the SAP FM you found.
A remote enabled fm requires a Logical destination when called from a program- you might already know that.

Business Partmer number ranges

Hi Gurus,
I would welcome others who have experienced the following issue with BP number ranges in SRM 5.
Basically, the system has been set so that when Business Partners are created by the system, for example end users, org plan nodes and so on, the system standard internal interval and number range 0000000001-0999999999 is used from t-code BUCF. Now the issue is, we are about to bring over our R/3 vendor records who also use the same number range, for example vendor number 300012 and as it is impossible to create two number ranges which overlap in customising t-code BUCF, even though the R/3 number range would be external.
Aside from using u201Cu201DInternal Number Assignment Onlyu201Du201D selection on BBP_VENDOR_GET_DATA, which I do not want to use, what other options are available in SRM 5 to get by this?

Here you need to understand what difference between vendor number and BP.
In SRM the system will recognize any object through BP only. and for vendor we need config a number rang in cross applicationsetting as like as in ecc. why becuase we stright way replicating the vendors from sap back end system. for accouting purpose we need the same number.
that we did we in cross application settings.

When i try to create a Cliam in ESS, it throws the following error
Number Range Customizing is not maintained.
I have done the Number Ranges setting under Loans Basic Settings -Define Number Range for Reference Number as 10
and Number Range as 00000000000000000001 to 00000099999999999999
Still i am getting the same error
Can any one suggest what could be the issue
