Dear Gurus...
I am new solman. i have solman installed without any client creation.what are post installation steps?
Please guide me to setup solution manger for SAP Support project and service desk . Please guide me how to setup?

Hi,
As soon as you hit solman_setup, your browser opens and in the address bar you would get a link like:
http://<hostname>:<port>/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/wd_sise_main_app?sap-language=EN
So, goto tcode sicf on the Solution manager system, F8 and navigate to the service in the link above:
default_host -> sap -> bc -> webdynpro -> sap -> wd_sise_main_app
Right click on the service to check if its active or not. Activate and try solman_setup again.
Incase the service is active, then you need to check the proxy settings on your internet browser and also check the http port/service in tcode SMICM.

I am new to SolMan and did my first setup with errors. Afterwards I realized that I called the Solman_setup from two different clients (000 and 001). Does it matter from which client I call the setup? Which one would be the right one?

This note is relevant to client copy, the thread is about in what client customer must execute solman_setup, customer can execute the setup independent of the client as the activations will occur globally, for example, BC-SETS, etc.
This note informs the following:

One frequently asked question in relation to the client copy and the transaction solman_setup is :
In transaction Solman_Setup, while activating the BC set's, a "Piece List" transport is generated and is expected to be imported in the working client. If I have already performed the client copy as suggested above, why would I require the transport again ? Isnt the data already copied from 000 to the working client ?
When you activate the BC sets certain tables are overwritten with the data in the BC sets and hence the "Piece List" transport is required to get that data back from client 000 to client 100. The "Piece List" transport does not contain all the customizing settings
from client 000. It contains only the data that gets overwritten by the BC set Activation and hence it is necessary to perform this step.
The logical sequence of events is you first perform the client copy and then execute the steps in transaction Solman_Setup.

It`s just informing how to proceed in case of client copy and solman_setup, but the customer can execute the solman setup in client 001 for example.

Solman Setup system Monitoring alert threshold value for Filesystem issue

Hi,
Our solman system is SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0 sp level 0024.
We have setup the alerts System Monitoring alerts from DSWP in solman system for our target production system .
But while assigning individual threshold values of filesystem freespace in MB for windows operating system disks C:,D:..all the values are getting changed after saving to same value.(i.e if I update C:\ disk value and click on save rest of disks are also getting updated to this value).
The same works fine for filessytems if target system OS is unix.
I have tried the examples suggested in note:522453 but it nothing changed.Please suggest.

you need to click on

-> PROPERTIES
-> USE FOR INDIVIDUAL MTE

Solman Setup 7.1SP04 - Step 2.5 Setup Data Upgrade failed

Hi Everyone!
For a few days I've been trying to fix an issue with solution manager setup, but no luck. It occurs on the 2.5 step (Solution Manager Internal Connectivity) during the 'Run Java Upgrader' substep.
Notes 1633725 - SAP Solution Manager 7.1 SP4 - basic functions, as well as 1659101 (as it was suggested in the similar threat SolMan 7.1 SP4: Diagnostics data upgrader ended with errors ) have been implemented, but nothing changed.
Before performing above step I've also upgraded SLD to the most recent version:
Please find attached the failed step error log. The 'dev_icm' file contains no errors, only 5 warnings.
I will be very grateful for any help you can provide!

Hi,
I finally managed to resolve this issue. The thing was that I had to execute a oracle statistics update using BRConnect:
brconnect -u / -c -f stats -t all
After that this step has been finished in about 10 seconds.

Solman setup maintenance optimizer

I'm trying to setup my Solman Maintenance Optimizer to download SP.
When I read the configuration guide. It says the prerequisite is as below :-
The Maintenance Optimizer contains a lot of scenarios for maintenence procedures. The scenarios have different prerequisites.
Basic Prerequisites
   1.
      You have configured the Maintenance Optimizer in the SAP Solution Manager customizing.
      You must perform the following customizing activities for the Maintenance Optimizer:
            Assign S users for the SAP Support Portal.
            This activity specifies the S users (user ID for the SAP Service Marketplace) assigned to user IDs for the SAP Solution Manager.
            For more information see S Users in the Maintenance Optimizer.
            Enter user for communication with SAP Service and Support systems
2. This activity specifies the RFC connection SAP-OSS and the corresponding RFC user.
3.     You have assigned product versions to the system to be maintained, in the system landscape.
      You have assigned the systems to be maintained to a logical component.
      Note Note
      If you want to use a solution, you must assign the systems to be maintained, to the solution landscape. For more information, see Solution Manager System Landscape.

Just clarify my question.
I would like to run tcode "Solman_setup" to activate my Maintenance Optimizer for my new install SOLMAN & ECC6 System.
The reason is I need to download service pack for my ECC6 system.
Now I have some confusion on the "Solman_Setup" prerequisites

You have installed the SAP Solution Manager and satisfied the following configuration prerequisites:
1)   The license key is installed. -

2)   The profile parameter /ICM_HOST_NAME_FULL or SAPLOCALHOSTFULL is set----

3)   The Transport Management System (TMS) is configured. -
> Not sure, Is this mean I have to setup my TMS in all the ECC6 system? Example --> DEV, QAS and PROD.
4)   The connection to the SAP backend system exists and works. -
> What is this mean? I need to Setup RFC connection manually using SM59? RFC connection from Solman to my ECC6-DEV,QAS, PRD?
5)   The SAP Solution Manager Java instance is up-to-date. --> not too sure. Can someone explain how this can be checked?

Solman Setup; SOLMAN_SETUP

Hi,
Currently we are using some features of Solman ( like Service desk, EWA, Optimizer etc). Can I run the TCode: Solman_setup at this moment. Is it feasible or I have to do remaining features configuration manually.

basically it comprises of
1. Initial setup----To be run initially or first time new installation
2. Basic configuration --can also be used after an update to EHP1 to perform delta configuration so this suits ur requirement here.
3 managed system configuration ---config and conn to managed systems

SolMan 7.1 setup problem: Activate ESR

Hello experts,
I face a problem in SolMan setup activity Activate ESR (transaction ESR_ACT):
ESR: BI content data exchange setup is not successful.Extractor setup is not executed.
I have already activated Info cube 0SM_BPMRH as described in Setup Guide BP Analytics. Everything worked fine with the activation. But the problem still exists.
Can anybody tell me how to solve this problem or where I can find additional information why the activation was not successfull?

Hello,
Please access transaction RSA1 in the BI client. It will ask you to activate the content, choose activate only.
if you didn't choose a different BI client, it is the same as the one you used in solman_setup.

Do I need to setup TMS for SolMan?

Hi,
I am new to SolMan. I need to setup in order to use Maintenance Optimizer.
Does SolMan need to have TMS configured like other SAP solutions, Dev, QA and Prod? Or there is only one Solman setup and it does everything we need?

Usually there will be only one Solution manager in the landscape . You mainly use this for central monitoring, Maintenance Optimizer , creating Keys, Service Desk , proj documentation etc and you are not doing any development work in here. So it does not make sense to have Dev, QA and PRD for solution manager. But you can have a sandbox which will help you to test the Support packs before applying directly in production. Maintenance Optimizer can be configured with Solution manager .

CUA on SolMan, issue with BI

Hi all,
Question:
My client wants a CUA on SolMan.
When I set this up I stumble upon a small problem.
CUA needs RFC connections to all connected clients, these RFC's should have the exact name of the Logical System Name of the client. Furthermore they need a user with specific authorizations in it.
So for my system with SID SOL and productive client 100 I will get an RFC named:
SOLCLNT100 (which is the same as the LS in SCC4).
Now 100 is also my BI client, and it also uses this RFC.
So configuring this like mentioned in the CUA setup guide gives me a conflict.....
Any ideas or suggestions?
Can I avoid issues by adding authorizations to the user configured in this RFC?

It is more logical if you would have create one separtate client in Solman and configure CUA there.Without affecting your already defined solman setup
and the dedicated cua client helps your security gets fine go by giving only a respective peopke access the client, this close lot of trouble.

Maitenance Optimizer in solman 7.1

Hi Experts,
Could you please let me know how to configure Maintenance Optimizer in Solman 7.1.
I have completed system Preparation, Initial configuration and also managed system configuration using Solman_setup.
I can see the Optimizer from Solman_workcenter, but couldn't see all the systems in drop down list to calculate the support pack stack for each and every system ( like ECC, EP, etc). Your help is appreciated.

Hi Mounika,
As long as you completed solman setup -> system preparation and basic configuration, MOPZ is ready to use. To generate the stack xml file, you need to assign your SAP System to the correct Product and Product version. After that assign your SAP System to the correct logical component, and subsequently add into the solution landscape.
To use MOPZ in SOLMAN 7.1, go to solman_workcenter -> change management and you'll see Maintenance Optimizer at left side on your screen.

Diagnostic Setup / BI System

when performing the Diagnostic setup two steps do end with a warning, which unfortunatelly prevent the entire Solman Setup from beeing completed.

User SMD_BI_RFC has already role SAP_BI_E2E assigned in ABAP user store at ABAP Host=XXX sys=00 client=XXX

Profile S_SMDIAG_E2E does not exist or is not active
User comparison for generating profiles was successfully run on the following roles : SAP_BI_E2E, SAP_SOLMANDIAG_E2E
R/3 RFC BI_CLNT088 was successfully created or updated, destination = ABAP Host=XXX sys=00 client=XXX

Prompts logincredentials while accessing workcenters applications in SOLMAN

Hi All,
In SOLMAN, we have configured workcenters. When i select any E2E Analysis / Trace Analysis / Wily Introscope pop-up with logon page which is a WebDynpro application. Even after providing my SOLMAN user credentials could not login into the selected applications.
1. Do we need to configure any SSO from SOLMAN to selected systems?
2. Or any other configurations to avoid this logon page
Can anyone help me to resolve this issue.

Hi Venkat,
did you get a resolution to this issue. I've just found the same thing happens after running through both the managing system (Solman) setup wizard and the managed systems setup wizard - Solman Ehp1 (SPS 20). I can see the workload analysis data/graphics etc when navigating between tabs in workload analysis/change analysis etc but I get the pop-up each time I navgate to another tab.
I've got the BI connection configured to use another client on the Solman system itself ( 001) with the Solman Administraion client being 010. I thought it might have been the RFC connection to BI (Maybe needing to defined as a trusted connection), but the BI_CLNT001 RFC destination (after reading through the guides again) is defined as per documentation with the SMD_BI_RFC user credentials & roles etc. Test connections etc are fine. So I'm not sure why the pop-up happens.
If you got to the bottom of what was going on then please respond.

SolMan Wily discovery issue

On my SolMan setup my system cannot find my CA Wily installation.
I installed it into E:\usr\sap\CCMS\Wily, Windows service is working fine, I also installed management services without any problems but Solman is not recognizing it.
My Solman is 7.1 SP12 and I also installed latest patches to Java stack.
How can my Solman recognize Wily?

1st Check Wily and agents are running.
2nd Check Maintenance mode is set to OFF in agent admin
3rd Share the details in INFO in above screenshot.
OR
Delete users SM_INTERN_WS and SM_EXTERN_WS and delete all logical ports using system preparation steps and then re-run these steps

Error while creating the end point ICMON_UI_WS - SP11

We have upgraded the SAP Solution Manager 7.1 SP04 to SP11.
Currently i am working on system preparation.
solman_setup -> System preparation -> 5.3 Enable Web Services getting the below error

Also checked the note :1900781 - Missing services required by Solman Setup System Preparation Step 4.3 Enable Web Services.
But this note is available for download.
Any idea about this issue.

1. Take the backup of the folder .dtc ,.dtr in your home directory.Delete .dtr & .dtc folders in your directoryt,hen try to create it.
2.Check NWDS, WebAS, NWDI, and its compatability ? Which versions are you running now?

This is a good question to me as I have no knowledge about IBM Websphere at all.
But at my opinion, you will need an "Websphere Appserver by IBM" (nothing else than IBM Websphere) to run the IBM Websphere Message Broker on. And therefore, you should go on assigning your Message Broker as product instance of the "Websphere Appserver by IBM".
If the IBM Websphere Message Broker is not a product part of Websphere (App)server, you should create a new product. Secondarly, if the version of your Websphere Message Broker differs from the ones provided by SAP (right pane "Productversion"), you will also need to create your own product, as they are not changeable if provided by SAP.
A third point to think about is, that if you would like to point out, that there is a real difference between the IBM Websphere Message Broker and (perhabs separatly installed) IBM Websphere Appserver, you should create your own product.
Last, but not less important: If you use the "Technical System Monitoring" of Solution Manager (see Solman Setup), you shoudl check, if there is are any templates for checking an Websphere Appserver provided by SAP. If so, you will need to assign your Message Broker as "Websphere Appserver" in order to use this monitoring template.
