SOLMAN with India Baseline Best Practice solution

Hello,
With India Baseline best practice solutin route, you need to go-thru the activation process which creates the configuration objects for the selected scenarios. How can i integrate this process with SOLMAN in place as I understand in SOLMAN base project implementation we need to create a project & do the configuration via SOLMAN for individual nodes.
Regards,
Manish.

Hi,
Our current solution is to have to NICs and have both connect to the server. They then have 2 different IPs and we have the DHCP give out the IP as the gateway. The only problem with that is that we cannot control the automated change of gateway IP if the
main connection fails.
We are also willing to look into other hardware solutions that could control this.

  • Arranging fields in a table-like form: best-Practice-Solution wanted

    Hello Experts,
I´m wondering if there exists a 'best practice' considering how to arrange fields in a table-like form.
I know about cross-tables, but that´s not what we need. Most of the requirements that I have come to known are just that certain fields should be put in a certain order in a table-like outfit.
We have tried to do this using the drawing functions (e.g. putting a square around the fields and certain border styles), but it often happens that the lines overlap or there are breaks between the lines, so that you have to do a lot of manual configuration with the 'table'.
Since this is a requirement I´ve come upon with many reports, I can´t believe that this is supposed to be the best solution for this.
I don´t understand why there isn´t a table-like element in Crystal Reports to use for this. E.g. put a table with x rows and y columns in the header or group head section section and then just put the fields in it.
Many thanks in advance for your help !

    Hi Frank,
You can use build in templates available in Template expert.
Click on Report menu-> Template Expert.
Select the desired template. ( Table grid template would suite best here) and click OK.
There is no facility of inserting a table directly as you said. You will have to do it manually by using lines and boxes.
    Hope this is helpful.

  • Best Practice / Solutions for using 11g DB+x86 or Small Computer to build iaas/paas?

My customer wants to build their own iaas/paas using Oracle 11g DB, plus x86 or other small computer, running Linux or Solaris or Unix OS.
Oracle Exadata is not feasible for them to use currently.
Customer wants to know whether there are other customers have implemented their cloud solution based on these or not?
If yes, would like to share the experience, presentation slides, best practices etc.
Is there an Oracle email DL for asking this kind of question?
    Thanks,
    Boris

Like Rick, I'm not aware of a specific "cloud implementors forum". Internally, Oracle has lots of material on implementing cloud, using any platform at all, although obviously we feel Engineered Systems are the most cost-effective solution for many customers. Are you interested in IaaS i.e. virtualised hardware, or PaaS i.e. DBaaS? They should not be confused, neither is required for the other, in fact, using IaaS to implement "DBaaS", as the OpenStack trove API attempts to do, is probably the most counter-productive way to go about it. Define the business-visible services you will be offering, and then design the most efficient means of supporting them. That way you gain from economies of scale, and set up appropriate management systems that address issues like patching, security, database virtualisation and so on.

  • Working with many sequences- best practice

    Hi.
I´ve just started using Adobe Premiere CS6. My goal is to create a 2 hour long movie, based on 30 hours of raw gopro footage recorded on a recent vacation.
Now my question is, what is the best practice for working with so many sequences/movie clips?
Do you have one heavy project file, with all the clips?
Or do you make small chapters that contains x number of sequences/is x minutes long, and in the end combine all these?
Or how would you do it the best way, so its easiest to work with?
    Thanks alot for your help.
    Kind regards,
    Lars

I'll answer your second question first, as it's more relevant to the topic.
You should export in the very highest quality you can based on what you started with.
The exception to this is if you have some end medium in mind. For example, it would be best to export 30 FPS if you are going to upload it to YouTube.
On the other hand, if you just want it as a video file on your computer, you should export it as 50 FPS because that retains the smooth, higher framerate.
Also, if you are making slow-motion scenes with that higher framerate, then export at the lowest framerate (for example, if you slow down a scene to 50% speed, your export should be at 25 FPS).
    About my computer:
It was for both, but I built it more with gaming in mind as I wasn't as heavily into editing then as I am now.
Now, I am upgrading components based on the editing performance gains I could get rather than gaming performance gains.

  • SD EDI with many partners / best practice

I need some input on how best to approach a large EDI project.
We will be accepting orders from about 80 customers.  Each one will be drop-shipping products from our warehouse to their customers.  I've set up the config for one location to take advatange of the EDPAR ext/int customer conversion table.  The IDOC uses the sold-to party as the KU type partner profile name (ex. 237661) which allows me to use the EDPAR conversion.  I'm able to get the IDOC processed now through to the finished order.
Question:  How do I scale this?  Is this the best way to handle 80 partners?  If so, I will have to have one EDI translation per sold-to.  Should we really be hard-coding a sold-to account# as the partner profile name at the EDI translation level or is there a more generic way to handle this?
It seems like there should be a way to say the partner profile for this customer group is EDIGRP01 and then use the incoming sold-to (ext. customer#) to determine which IDOC partner profile to use OR use user-exits to make that logic happen.  I want to use the configurable best practices here but it sure seems like a lot of work with hard-coded account#'s to boot.
    Thank you for your thoughts.

Reynolds, the partner profiles are to identify the message type and process code and then function module to post the idocs. These partner numbers will not be used anywhere else. for creating sales orders you need sales area ,sold to and shipto numbers, and material numbers.
These three values will be converted using the EDPAR and customer material info records.
Could you please explain why the validation for customer number is required?
If you really need the customer validation sales order creation automatically do when determining the sales area or material number.
I question for you. what configuration you did for automatic conversion of external partner numbers into internal customer numbers? does this is used for outbound
idocs as well? i am doing some outbound messages for orderacknowledgment.
where i need the external partner numbers to be passed in idoc and edu message.
but the automatic translation is not taking place? this is also not happening for inbound also for me? Could you please tell what i am missing?
Please mail me at [email protected]
    Thanks for the help.

  • RBAC with OIM/OIA - Best practice

Just wondering what should be the RBAC architecture with OIM and OIA as per best practices when the number of applications is huge e.g. >1000.
Normally, we create one or more OIM Access policies and corresponding user groups for automated provisioning of the user to target applications. And further integrate OIM with OIA to govern user access by aligning the OIA policies with the OIM Access policies.
This is fine when the number of applications is manageable. But what if the number of applications rises to more that 1000 or 5000. What would be our approach to handle this.

A fine topic that has been discussed many times over the years in this forum.
It is also something I have spent far more time than what is actually healthy working on so there are a couple of articles on my blog about the subject:
    http://iamreflections.blogspot.com/2010/10/oim-vs-tim-basic-rbac.html
    http://iamreflections.blogspot.com/2010/09/rbac-vs-abac.html
    http://iamreflections.blogspot.com/2010/08/role-based-group-memberships-in-oim.html
    http://iamreflections.blogspot.com/2010/08/primary-limitation-of-oim-access.html
The basic answer is that you have to build your own RBAC framework once things leave the very basic state.
    Hope this helps

  • Best Practice Solution with 2 Internet Connections

    Good day everyone,
We used to have single ADSL connections at our clients that provide the internet connection for the network. We have recently partnered up with a Fiber provider and are slowly busy rolling out Fiber connections at our clients. We are also offering redundancy
with the ADSL connection as a back up for the Fiber connection.
I would like to know if anyone has suggestions as to what would be the best practise configuration on various Windows Server platforms to make this possible? The idea is that if the Fiber connection fails (for whatever reason) that the ADSL connection takes
over. This must be an automated process.
I am open for any form of suggestions.
    Thanks for your time.

  • Dealing with complex rules - best practice?

    hello,
I am currently involved in a project to develop BRFplus rules for a new social security benefit.
some ofd the legislation is complex. for example:
    if ( A = true) AND ( (B = true) OR (C = true) OR (D = true) OR ( (E = true) AND (F= true)) ) then
       Result = true
    Else
       Result = false
    Endif
My question is, what is the best/most efficient way of developing this rule?
is it to develop one rule with a very complex condition?
    what are the alternative/preffered approaches?
    Thanx in advance.

You can create "named" rules for each sub-rule (the condition A, B, C,...) and then use them in a master rule. This would improve the readability and hence maintenance by breaking the complexity down into simpler modules and would also let you re-use the sub-rules at other places.

  • Use both iPhoto and Aperture with one library-best practice?

I'd like to use both iPhoto and Aperture, but have both programs use/update just one photo library.  I have the latest versions of both programs, but was wondering if the optimum approach would be to:
a)point Aperture to the existing iPhoto library and use that as the library for both programs
    or
b)import the entire iPhoto library into a new Aperture library, delete the iPhoto library, and point iPhoto to use the Aperture library.
I should point out that up to now I've been using iPhoto exclusively, and have close to 20K photos in the iPhoto library, tagged with Faces, organized into various albums, etc; if that makes a difference...
    Appreciate any advice!
    Thanks,
    Dave

Thanks Frank!  I'll try it that way.

  • Creating Billing Unit in CRM V1.2007 Best Practices C05

    Hi,
in C05 (Org Model with HR Integration) for Best Practices V1.2007 I have to create a Billing Unit.
That means, I have to create a Corporate Account.
For Creation of the Corporate Account i need a Number Range and a Grouping.
    My Question:
Maintaining Number Range and Grouping for Business Partners is described in C03.
In the Solution Builder C03 comes after C05.
So I have first to finish C03 manually via SPRO or at least I have to maintain a Number Range and a Grouping so that I´m able to create the Billing Unit as an Corporate Account and then proceed with C05?

We are trying to activate full solution.
I have already created a new work bench and customize request ,but stills its gvg "Transport numbers not fullfill the requirement".

  • Seaching for Best Practice links that work

    Hi,
past few years I have been able to access SAP Best Practices documents like SAP Best Practices SAP Best Practices for CP and Wholesale Industries
(this one still works and guides me to the building block and process overview documents!).
Recently any link I can find to SAP Industry or Baseline Best Practices ends up with a dead link. See for example trying to get from here SAP Best Practices Baseline packages – SAP Help Portal Page
to Localized for Netherlands V1.607 SAP Best Practices package further below on that page, results in screen shot attached. I have seen that in many more examples (different countries, or in Industry Best Practice Packages instead of Country Baseline packages....)
Does any know whether and how SAP redesigned their access to Best Practices documents (Configuration Guides, eCatts, Scenario Process Overviews etc.?
    Thanks for your reply.
    Thijs

    Hi, Thijs,
There is currently a problem with Best Practices on the Help Portal.  On the home page of the portal (http://help.sap.com/) there is a message that reads "Stay Tuned - There are temporary problems when accessing some content types, for example PDF documents or Best Practices. We are working on a solution."
Our Wholesale Distribution industry group does not manage the Help Portal pages, so, unfortunately, I don't know the status of the problem or when it might be resolved.

  • SAP Best Practices for Fiscal Representative Scenraio

    Hello Friends,
Need your inputs to understand the SAP best practices to implement the solution . Currently we are doing the implentation for one of european client. During the requirement, we identified the unique requirement which is common in european business, and the requirement is billing to fiscal representative and also from fiscal representative. The representation of the process is -
A Company not established in a countries where company needs to engage a transactions subject to the local VAT such as: building services, storage, events, imports carried out in this state in the name of main company and any operation of "purchase/resale" carried out in this state. To do such transactions, company obligation to register for VAT in the concerned state or country with a local VAT number.
To obtain this, Company order appoints a Fiscal Representative who:
    a. Ensures Company for tax legislation and allows to answer the obligations as regards to local VAT .
    b. Deals with the VAT declarations including the requests for refunding and Intrastate.
    c. Manages the registration near the tax authorities, Company VAT Balance, the follow-up of the payments of VAT .
    d. Takes care for any correspondence with the local tax authorities, including in the event of tax control.
These representatives are also responsible for billing intercompany customers and also final customers for the local tax obligations.
    Business Requirement -
Client need to setup a fiscal representatives in ECC wherever applicable other than company code country
These representatives having a separate VAT number per country
These representatives do operations on behalf of main company code in the countries
    Example scenario -
    Business Case 1
There are two company codes, A100 in ITALY and A200 in Switzerland
A200 appoints a fiscal representative in Italy for Italian operations
A100 supply the goods to A200 but the intercompany bill is raised between A100 to A200's fiscal representative in Italy.
By our internal observation and the ground work, we confirm that the SAP Plant abroad functionality can be fulfilled for this requirement. However, our customer wants to understand how the other clients are doing and the best practices.
Thanks in advance to share your inputs
    Best Regards,
    Goutham

    Goutham,
VAT reporting requirements and VAT solutions found in SAP are country dependent.  Although it is not my area of expertise, I believe the use of Fiscal Representatives is also driven by country restrictions.
To find any of SAP's Best Practices solutions that are localized for countries, refer to their Best practices sites.  For instance, Italy and Switzerland baseline localized BPs are found
    here
    http://help.sap.com/bp_bl603/BL_IT/HTML/index.htm
    and here
    http://help.sap.com/bp_bl603/BL_CH/HTML/index.htm
There can be additional info to be found in the industry specific sites
    http://help.sap.com/content/bestpractices/industry/index.htm
The only place I found fiscal representative explicitly mentioned within SAP was in a doc describing a localized Romanian tax report.
As suggested by an answer to your previous post, there might be some experts on one of the FI forums that could offer you advice.  Try for a start

  • ASA 5505 Best Practice Guidance Requested

I am hoping to tap into the vast wealth of knowledge on this board in order to gain some "best practice" guidance to assist me with the overall setup using the ASA 5505 for a small business client.  I'm fairly new to the ASA 5505 so any help would be most appreciated!
My current client configuration is as follows:
    a) business internet service (cable) with a fixed IP address
    b) a Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band router (currently setup as gateway and used for internet/WiFi access)
    c) a Cisco SG-500-28 switch
    d) one server running Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard (primary Domain Controller)
(This server is currently the DNS and DHCP server)
    e) one server running Windows Server 2008 R2 (secondary Domain Controller)
    f) approximately eight Windows 7 clients (connected via SG-500-28 switch)
    g) approximately six printers connected via internal network (connected via SG-500-28 switch)
All the servers, clients, and printers are connected to the SG-500-28 switch.
The ISP provides the cable modem for the internet service.
The physical cable for internet is connected to the cable modem.
From the cable modem, a CAT 6 ethernet cable is connected to the internet (WAN) port of the Netgear N600 router.
A Cat 6 ethernet cable is connected from Port 1 of the local ethernet (LAN) port on the N600 router to the SG-500-28 switch.
cable modem -> WAN router port
    LAN router port -> SG-500-28
The ASA 5505 will be setup with an "LAN" (inside) interface and a "WAN" (outside) interface.  Port e0/0 on the ASA 5505 will be used for the outside interface and the remaining ports will be used for the inside interface.
So my basic question is, given the information above of our setup, where should the ASA 5505 be "inserted" to maximize its performance?  Also, based on the answer to the previous question, can you provide some insight as to how the ethernet cables should be connected to achieve this?
Another concern I have is what device will be used as the default gateway.  Currently, the Netgear N600 is set as the default gateway on both Windows servers.  In your recommended best practice solution, does the ASA 5505 become the default gateway or does the router remain the default gateway?
And my final area of concern is with DHCP.  As I stated earlier, I am running DHCP on Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard.  Most of the examples I have studied for the ASA 5505 utilize its DHCP functionality.  I also have done some research on the "dhcprelay server" command.  So I'm not quite sure which is the best way to go. First off, does the "dhcprelay server" even work with SBS 2011?  And secondly, if it does work, is the best practice to use the "dhcprelay" command or to let the ASA 5505 perform the DHCP server role?
All input/guidance/suggestions with these issues would be greatly appreciated!  I want to implement the ASA 5505 firewall solution following "best practices" recommendations in order to maximize its functionality and minimize the time to implement.
FYI, the information (from the "show version" command) for the ASA 5505 is shown below:

    Device Manager Version 7.1(5)100

    Hey Jon,
Again, many thanks for the info!
I guess I left that minor detail out concerning the Guest network.  I have a second Netgear router that I am using for Guest netowrk access.  It is plugged in to one of the LAN network ports on the first Netgear router.
The second Netgear (Guest) router is setup on a different subnet and I am letting the router hand out IP addresses using DHCP.
Basic setup is the 192.168.1.x is the internal network and 192.168.11.x is the Guest network.  As far as the SBS 2011 server, it knows nothing about the Guest network in terms of the DHCP addresses it hands out.
Your assumption about the Guest network is correct, I only want to allow guest access to the internet and no access to anything internal.  I like your idea of using the restricted DMZ feature of the ASA for the Guest network.  (I don't know how to do it, but I like it!)  Perhaps you could share more of your knowledge on this?
One final thing, the (internal) Netgear router setup does provide the option for a separate Guest network, however it all hinges on the router being the DHCP server.  This is what led me to the second (Guest) Netgear router because I wanted the (internal) Netgear router NOT to use DHCP.  Instead I wanted SBS 2011 to be the DHCP server.  That's what led to the idea of a second (Guest) router with DHCP enabled.
The other factor in all this is SBS 2011.  Not sure what experience you've had with the Small Business Server OS's but they tend to get a little wonky if some of the server roles are disabled.  For instance, this is a small busines with a total of about 20 devices including servers, workstations and printers.  Early on I thought, "nah, I don't need this IPv6 stuff," so I found an article on how to disable it and did so.  The server performance almost immediately took a nose dive.  Rebooting the server went from a 5 minute process to a 20 minute process.  And this was after I followed the steps of an MSDN article on disabling IPv6 on SBS 2011!  Well, long story short, I enabled IPv6 again and the two preceeding issues cleared right up.  So, since SBS 2011 by "default" wants DHCP setup I want to try my best to accomodate it.  So, again, your opinion/experiece related to this is a tremendous help!
    Thanks!
