  • How to add a system into Solution Manager directory.

    Hi!
Can anybody tell me how to add a system into Solution Manager directory before generating license key for ECC installation .
    Also,
How to connect the XI in same box with SolMan and ECC in defferent server to SolMan 3.2 .
I am going to install SolMan and than XI in and box and after that ECC in a seperate box.
    AM I right?
    regards,
    Pratip Bhattacharyya

    Hi Bratip Bhattacharyya,
SolMan 3.2 needs SLD only for automatic data gathering of the sap landscape; you can choose between SLD and LIS in transaction SMSY_SETUP (which simply uses the TMS-domain controllers for information gathering).
XI needs SLD, but XI needs also a netweaver04 (s) system (Abap WAS 6.40). SolMan 3.2 isn't a netweaver04 system (Abap WAS 6.20). So you have to install XI as an own central instance (Abap + Java) on the same windows server, if you like. In this case you have to install for XI an own SLD. Different SLDs can create bridges between themselves. Please look at the SLD configuration guide (quicklink /netweaver -> installation guides).
But don't ask me how to install two sap systems on one server on windows (on Linux it's easy I have done so); basically it will have an own SID and own "service" numbers (which means own tcp port numbers).
If you can't dedicate to XI an own server, it's only a question of hardware sizing. For the different combinations of netweaver components you should study the master guide for netweawer.

  • To extract portal activity data from the portal into Solution manager.

    HI all,
I need to extract the portal activity data from the portal into Solution  Manager BI and then later on into the SAP BW in order to generate BEx reports on the portal activity data. I need to know about the configuartions that are needed to be done on the portal side and the solution manager side so as to get the data into SolMan from portal.  Waiting for a response.
    Thanks and regards,
    Divya.

    Hi
In solution manager you can do the  analysis of the ADC data files (Portal activity reporting) as as part of the End-to-End Diagnostics (Portal Activity Reporting tab in the End-to-End Workload Analysis).
Will you see the Portal Activity Reporting tab under End-to-End Workload Analysis?
by default PAR in SAP Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1 is deactivated ,since we requires
some manual configuration of the Activity Data Collector.
please follow the attached config guide in the SAP note for configuration.

  • Can roadmap imported into Solution Manager

    Hi, friends:
i know there is HTML format roadmaps can be downloaded fron SMP.
can this /or other format imported into Solution Manger? and how?
    Br,
    Chrina

    Hi,
There is an ST-ICO support package that generally transports roadmaps and other Solution Manager content like BPR. It is however, may not be possible to import each and every roadmap separately. You need to check in which SP of ST-ICO, your required roadmap is released and then implement that in your target system. I hope it helps.

  • Solution Composer v/s Visual Composer

I was wondering if Solution Composer is the appropriate tool to perform AS-IS business process mapping of a system. Is Visual Composer a better alternative?
If I edit and customize a solution in the Solution Composer, will it port to Solution Manager?

    Kevin,
The answer depends on what you are trying to accomplish, also you should understand that there is a key difference between the two tool sets you mention.
Solution Composer is a high level representation of SAP capability across the different processes and industries. Since it is customisable, it is useful for showing at a high level a map between SAP enabled scenarios and a given current business model. Visual Composer is a tool that can do two things, 1) Create simple composite applications running on NW 7.0 portal as iViews :  2) Used as a reporting tool in the same scenario as option 1.
If you are trying to do an AS-IS of an existing SAP system and do not have a documented Business Blueprint linked to a Business Process Hierarchy in Solution Manager then the answer may be yes, you could possbily use Solution Composer.
However if this was more of a normal AS-IS situation covering business processes on non SAP enabled systems you may be better off doing the AS-IS using a tool such as ARIS (or other modelling tools such as Casewise or Livemodel). Even Visio used in a structured way combined with a generic Business Process Procedure document (in word format) would work. This depends on wether your organisation has a formal approach to Business Process Management.
By the way, you can save Solution Composer models as HTML files, these could then be uploaded and stored within a BPH template on Solution Manager at either Scenario or Process level.

  • Solution Composer Interface

One of our customer is using Aris to manage the business processes and also use Solution Composer define Solution map and processes. They hope can import the content of business process of Aris to Solution Composer. Is there any interface can do that?

    Hi, Nicolas,
Thanks a lot, Do you mean Solution Composer can read directly form IDS Scheer product such as Aris' DB?

  • Solution Composer

    Hi Experts
From where can we get Solution Composer? Does it come along with SAP s/w?
    Is it used during configuration?

    Hi Gopal
Basically the client is a Manufacturer of the key elements that go into a substation transformers, tap-changers, switchgear and power protection control and automation systems.
But Beside this they do handle projects. This is a separate department and SBU. And again they have got three Business Units (SBUs) for Projects-
    1) Turnkey Projects - Supply(Elec. & Civil) ,Erection & commissioning of Electrical Substation.
    + i assume here ECO will work+
    2) Automation Projects- Automation solution and products (in-house produced or bought -out) for already existing sub-stations.Engineering is also in
+ Obviously these are not ECO.so in which category it can be put?+
    3) Metering Projects - solutions for Power Industry and utilities for the consumers having meters. Also the Supply of meters, installation of meters in existing substations,.
    what business it should consider

  • IPM and BPEL solution namespace mapping

    Hi,
I am bit confused in how the BPEL Human task is mapped with AXF actions.
I was thinking that the value of solution_namespace entry in AXF_ACTION_MENU table is mapped with either of the below possibilities..
    - This is looking into the name of the BPEL-> Human Task name.
    - This is the same name of the deployed composite.
    - This has a relation with axf_TaskAssignmentType
When i checked the entry for "RequestInvoiceInformation" it is something else. All other Solution Name spaces are same as that of respective BPEL processes. But i couldn;t map how solution name space "RequestInvoiceInformation" is mapped. Please let me know how to trace this down. I still believe this has to have some relation with Human task.
Atually i am trying to create a New BPEL process and wire it existing system. I want to create a new Solution name space.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Vikrant Korde.

    Hi Vikrant
There is actually no relation between the Human Task name and the Solution Namespace. You can actually keep one solution namespace and configure the whole solution.
The only reason to create separate solution namespaces is to restrict the actions for a particular solution namespace.
AXF_SOLUTION_PARAMETERS table is the key for all the entries. Whatever action your BPEL Human task comprise off, you need to include the command namespaces and outcomes for all those tasks.
AXF_ACTIONS consists of those actions and their respective Command class.
My advise would be to create the BPEL process with whatever functionality you are targeting at and then modify the Oracle scripts to add another Solution namespace.
If you have any issues, please revert back.
    Thanks

  • Use of Solution Composer

    Dear Gurus,
I am new to Business Process Expert area. When I read some documents on BPX, I came across that solution composer will help the analyst. Can any one help what is the exact use of solution composer? How effectively I can use it for Requirement gathering and analyzing? Where I can find more help about the solution composer? What are other tools available to expert in BPX?
    Thanks in advance.
    With Regards,
    Balachander Subbiah

    Hi,
in the solution composer you find the Business or Solution Maps. These maps show the different business scenarios along the value chain and bundle together single business processes. The more you drill down the more details you will find, e.g. what SAP or partner applications are available to execute a scenario, process or process step. A more detailed description you can find here:
    http://www.sap.com/solutions/businessmaps/pdf/MISC_SAP_Solution_Composer_8_2005.pdf
You can also download the solution composer and install it on your local machine. Just follow this link:
    http://www.sap.com/solutions/businessmaps/composer/index.epx
After you made yourself familiar with the tool you can immediately start to build your own maps.
But how does it help you?... Well what you can do e.g. is to build your own map and describe your process flows and requirements. Then you can match them to the SAP descriptions and check what applications are available. You can also go one step further and visit the ES Workplace (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/explore-es), which is an online version of the solution composer and check out what services are available to build own processes.
    I hope this helps!
    Best regards,
    Frauke
