Thanks,

  • Solution Composer v/s Visual Composer

I was wondering if Solution Composer is the appropriate tool to perform AS-IS business process mapping of a system. Is Visual Composer a better alternative?
If I edit and customize a solution in the Solution Composer, will it port to Solution Manager?

    Kevin,
The answer depends on what you are trying to accomplish, also you should understand that there is a key difference between the two tool sets you mention.
Solution Composer is a high level representation of SAP capability across the different processes and industries. Since it is customisable, it is useful for showing at a high level a map between SAP enabled scenarios and a given current business model. Visual Composer is a tool that can do two things, 1) Create simple composite applications running on NW 7.0 portal as iViews :  2) Used as a reporting tool in the same scenario as option 1.
If you are trying to do an AS-IS of an existing SAP system and do not have a documented Business Blueprint linked to a Business Process Hierarchy in Solution Manager then the answer may be yes, you could possbily use Solution Composer.
However if this was more of a normal AS-IS situation covering business processes on non SAP enabled systems you may be better off doing the AS-IS using a tool such as ARIS (or other modelling tools such as Casewise or Livemodel). Even Visio used in a structured way combined with a generic Business Process Procedure document (in word format) would work. This depends on wether your organisation has a formal approach to Business Process Management.
By the way, you can save Solution Composer models as HTML files, these could then be uploaded and stored within a BPH template on Solution Manager at either Scenario or Process level.

  • Use of Solution Composer

    Dear Gurus,
I am new to Business Process Expert area. When I read some documents on BPX, I came across that solution composer will help the analyst. Can any one help what is the exact use of solution composer? How effectively I can use it for Requirement gathering and analyzing? Where I can find more help about the solution composer? What are other tools available to expert in BPX?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
in the solution composer you find the Business or Solution Maps. These maps show the different business scenarios along the value chain and bundle together single business processes. The more you drill down the more details you will find, e.g. what SAP or partner applications are available to execute a scenario, process or process step. A more detailed description you can find here:
    http://www.sap.com/solutions/businessmaps/pdf/MISC_SAP_Solution_Composer_8_2005.pdf
You can also download the solution composer and install it on your local machine. Just follow this link:
    http://www.sap.com/solutions/businessmaps/composer/index.epx
After you made yourself familiar with the tool you can immediately start to build your own maps.
But how does it help you?... Well what you can do e.g. is to build your own map and describe your process flows and requirements. Then you can match them to the SAP descriptions and check what applications are available. You can also go one step further and visit the ES Workplace (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/explore-es), which is an online version of the solution composer and check out what services are available to build own processes.
    I hope this helps!
    Best regards,
    Frauke

  • WSDL Files in the Solution Composer

    Hi Guys!
I am trying to use the WSDL Files for a Enterprise Service Operation from the Solution Composer, but I am always requiered to enter an account and password to get the file.
Where can I get the authorization to use these WSDL files and how?
I will really appreciate any hint!

    Hi Edgardo,
If you go to the ESA Preview System Page https://www.sdn.sap.com/sdn/esapreview.sdn?node=linkDnode12-2 you will notice that there is a form to request participation in the ESA Preview System access.  Only those Partners and Employees defining a very valid business case for building and testing client applications that consume enterprise services will be accepted to this "limited" capacity program.
At a later date, these WSDL files will be more widely available.  For the time being only those accepted as part of this preview system program will have access.
    cheers,
    Marilyn

  • Can I cut and paste directions obtained via maps into a word doc or something so I can see them if I can't connect to the internet

Can I cut and paste directions form maps into a word doc - or save it somewhere on my iPad so I can access it when I can't access the Internet?

    Take a screen short.
Simultaneously press the Sleep and Home button. You will notice an on-screen flash. If you have sound enabled, you will hear a camera click.
The screen shot is stored in Camera Roll.

  • Inserting maps in Appleworks word processing doc

I am writing a family history book, using photos and maps. I am having trouble when I insert a jpeg map into the word processing document. It prints out perfectly from the scan in the Photo Elements program, but ends up distorted when I insert it in the document. I have tried taking digital pictures to insert, and they are better but not as good as I'd like. I have cropped and resized to the correct size while in the Photo program. Do you have any suggestions? I have Appleworks 6. I tried saving it as TIFF and that didn't help.

Try saving them as PICT instead of TIFF.

  • Solution Composer

    Hi Experts
From where can we get Solution Composer? Does it come along with SAP s/w?
    Is it used during configuration?

    Hi Gopal
Basically the client is a Manufacturer of the key elements that go into a substation transformers, tap-changers, switchgear and power protection control and automation systems.
But Beside this they do handle projects. This is a separate department and SBU. And again they have got three Business Units (SBUs) for Projects-
    1) Turnkey Projects - Supply(Elec. & Civil) ,Erection & commissioning of Electrical Substation.
    + i assume here ECO will work+
    2) Automation Projects- Automation solution and products (in-house produced or bought -out) for already existing sub-stations.Engineering is also in
+ Obviously these are not ECO.so in which category it can be put?+
    3) Metering Projects - solutions for Power Industry and utilities for the consumers having meters. Also the Supply of meters, installation of meters in existing substations,.
    what business it should consider

  • Using SAP Solution Composer

    Hello,
I am using the Solution Composer for creating interactive pages which would eventually be part of our ESR on the lines of SAP's own ESR. However I've not been able to create pages the way I want them to look.
Can anybody help me accomplish what I'm trying to do?
Any kind of help will be appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Kumod.

Alright, let me give you some more specifics about what I am trying to do.
Using Solution composer I am trying to create HTML pages just like SAP's ESR pages. That is, the main business areas on the first page. Then on clicking on a business process, you are taken to another page listing the enterprise services available for that business process and then finally you are taken to the web service description page. This is the kind of functionality I am trying to achieve using Solution Composer. This can be easily achieved using Microsoft Frontpage, however I want to use Solution Composer for doing it.
Can anybody help me with this?
    Thanks!
    Kumod.

  • ES Pool in Solution Composer

    Hello,
if somebody know what corellation is between services in ES Workplace an in SAP Solution Composer ES Pool ?
    Regards
    Krzysztof Ziemba

    Thanks,
but most (if not any) of the services in Enterprise Services Workplace (ES Workplace on SDN) and in proposed EP1 (ES Packages in SDN Wiki)are not listed in Solution Composer ES Pool.
Eventually they are diffirent - have diffirent interfaces and operations, eg Business Partner Data Management process component in ES Workplace and Business Partner Data Management Enterprise Service (process component ?) in SC ES Pool.
Generally all services in ES Pool are Future Focus.
I would like to know if origin off all ES is common (SAP and ES Community) ?

  • SAP Solution Composer

    Hello,
I'm trying to download the SAP Solution Composer. After I hit the SUBMIT I get the same page where I fill out name, e-mail etc. So no file download! Any tips, how to download the Solution Composer? I understood this is a PC based tool.
    Regards,
    Lucas

    Hi,
I'm not quite sure but here are some suggestions:
    - is JavaScript turned on?
    - try with a different browser
    - check security settings of your browser, what happens when hitting SUBMIT is that you can download an install file named smc_public.exe which has to be executed to download Solution Composer. This was actually my problem when I installed Solution Composer the first time.

  • Process Composer - Mapping from a unbounded node

    Hello
I´m following the documentation Workflow Pattern Coverage in SAP NetWeaver BPM 7.11 (http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/8026f177-f32f-2c10-b7b0-9cc31d92984d) to create a Process Composer with a "While" Loop.
According to page 23, I should use 2 variables to call my tasks: the "Batch" and the "Index". According to the document, I should "extract next line item from batch and increment the index". Incrementing the index its easy, I can make a simple data mapping. The problem is that I dont know how to extract a line from batch to call my task with this line.
I have the following source structure:
    Node (0...n)
       myString (string)
    the target is strucutre:
    inString (string)
I already tried many expressions but all are invalid:
    Batch/Node[1]/myString
    Batch/Node/myString
    Batch/Node(1)/myString
How can I map that ?
    Thanks ?

    Hi Kirill
There is some basic information available at SDN:
