Solution? CS 3/Windows 7- 64 bit installation problem

I found an answer for at least one of the MAJOR issues installing CS3 on Windows 7-64 bit ...
The problem: CS3 installation goes smoothly, but when trying to open Photoshop, you get a blank Photoshop window and an endlessly spinning curser. Also, no other programs will open, yet if you check the program files, they seem complete. You may even discover that one of the non-working programs is actually open (but not accessible to you) somewhere in the depths of your computer. An error message may eventually appear (if you are lucky), which reads something to the effect: "You cannot use this product at this time. You must repair this product by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or contact your IT Administrator or Adobe Customer Support for help."
Check this link for the solution, which worked for me after four weeks of frustration and three Adobe problem tickets that were declared closed without resolution of this problem:
http://www.megaleecher.net/Flexnet_Licensing_Service
Short form is that the Flexnet licensing feature for Windows 7 is not set properly and prevents CS3 from registration/activation. It must read "start" and "automatic" - not "stop" and/or "manual." You get to Flexnet Licensing as follows: Start Menu>Run> (type in) services.msc>enter
Then double click FlexnetLic in the menu, change the Stop to Start (by clicking on the word) and the Manual to Automatic. Click save. Restart computer and launch any CS3 program. This should bring up the rest of the installation process beginnning where you enter your serial number(s). From that time on, for me, everything was operational and still is (Whoopee!!!!!!)
Side Note to Adobe: When I first encountered this problem FOUR weeks ago, I talked three different times with Technical Assistance personnel. The second of these three could have solved the problem - he had the right information, as I can now see. The problem: I could NOT understand his English. His accent was very heavy and the phone connection was terrible. He struggled as I did with such simple things as the word "start" where he had to literally spell it out four times before I understood what he was saying. We eventually got to the Flexnet screen and possibly could have solved the issue right then. But the communication process was so labored that it didn't work. I'm guessing now that a step was missed somewhere, because now all is okey dokey, after using the information in the above link.

Pat, thank you for your very prompt response.
Regarding my FLF files I will try the VLC Media Player as you suggested, thank you.
Now regarding the Flash Player being a browser add on in my IE, I checked through Tools / Manage add-ons / All Add-ons and it displays only Adobe Shockwave Object from the Adobe range of products. Adobe Flash Player is not an Add-on in my system.
By uninstalling it (when I was trying to install a standalone product), did I delete this Add-on from the available Add-ons from my IE?
And if I did that, how do I reinstate it? (As you said a standalone Flash Player would have its limitations).
I would appreciate your advice.

  • Can't install Solution Center on Windows 7 64 bit to PSC 5140 printer shared from XP computer.

I recenntly got a laptop with Windows 7 64 bit installed.  I have a HP Photosmart C5140 All-in-One printer installed on a Windows XP desktop as a shared printer.  I am able to print to the printer from my Windows 7 laptop without a problem.  I want to install the HP Solution Center app so I can scan, etc from my laptop.  When I try to install the Solution Center on the laptop, it starts the install process fine but then gets to the dialog where it wants to know how the printer is connected.  The only options it provides is direct connected (USB) or network connected.  I choose the network connected option.  It asks for the IP address of the printer which isn't available since it is installed on the XP machine using USB.  I have tried using the standard MIcrosoft fully qualified network name (can't remember the technical term right now) for the XP computer where the printer is installed (i.e. \\computer_name\printer_name) but it still won't allow me to continue with the Solution Center install.  Possibly this type of install is not possible?  I thought I did something similar a year or so ago with a Vista laptop I had.

More than likely, you are receiving the access denied error because there may not be a HomeGroup in place.
To handle networks securely with Windows 7, Microsoft took a different approach.  A HomeGroup essentially creates a trust among all the devices in that home group.  If a device is not in that homegroup, then that system will essentially be denied access.
Click on Install a printer on a home network to get basic steps to install a printer in a network environment.
Click on HomeGroup: recommended links to get more information about Home Groups, including setting one up.

  • 64-Bit Windows 7 Load Driver Installation Problem

I am new to Mac and have recently got my hands on a new 17" MBP.
The MBP is a 2011 model dating from about May.
Not wanting to step 100% away from Windows I want to install Windows 7 as well and run Mac OS.
I have tried installing Windows 7 32-Bit and it worked absolutely fine - no problems at all.
However, when I tried to install 64-Bit Windows 7 I ran into a problem very early on in the installation.
Before the part where you select the partition to install Windows on, I get a "Load Driver" message which reads:
"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now."
I cannot eject the DVD to replace it with the Windows Support DVD that I burned (which I assume has the relevant drivers on), so I am a bit stuck.
I tried googling and a few people suggested burning the disk at a slower speed, which I did and it made no difference at all.
The fact that 32-Bit works lets me know I am doing things right, there must be something about the 64-Bit that the MBP doesn't like.
Any help much appreciated. I have 8GB RAM and would like to use it all with both Mac OS AND Windows so 64-Bit is preferred.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi guys,
I have exactly the same problem.
I have a macbook pro 15 late 2011 and I tried for hours to find a driver for superdrive but nothing at the moment...
If someone could help us it would be great
    Thanks

  • Z68MA-ED55 + UEFI + Windows 7 64-bit Installation

I've been trying for a few days now to figure out how to install Windows 7 64-bit on a single, fatty 5.5TB GPT partition in UEFI mode for this motherboard while utilizing RAID5 and Intel SRT caching. Here's the scenario:
    1. I have (3) 3TB hard drives that are configured in a RAID5 array giving me approx. 5.5TB's of usable storage.
    2. I have (1) 64GB SSD that I want to use for Intel SRT caching for the above mentioned RAID array.
    3. I want a single, big fat 5.5TB GPT partition for the above mentioned RAID arrary.
    4. I want to install and boot Windows 7 from the above mentioned 5.5TB GPT partition.
The reason for all of this is that Windows 7 64-bit cannot utilize any disk space beyond 2TB on the disk it's installed on.... unless it uses GPT... and you can only boot GPT using UEFI... This motherboard supports UEFI, but provides no details that I can find on how to install Windows 7. I can get into the EFI shell, and dink around, but I cannot browse any mounted drives (example, using simple "ls" command from any drive/path I get the error "ls/dir: cannot open current directory - Not Found Exist status code: Not Found"
I'm decently familiar/comfortable with Linux/DOS/CLI work, but I'm not having any luck browsing any file system I try to mount through the EFI shell.
I know what I'm doing on the RAID side, I can get RAID/SRT/Windows 7 64-bit working with MBR-type partitions and normal BIOS start up. Again, the problem is that that there's no way to access/partition the space after 2TB on the fatty 5.5TB RAID array drive that Windows 7 is installed on.
    SO! Any geniuses out there?

I figured out how to do the GPT part of things with my Z68A-GD80 board, but only in AHCI mode (still pondering RAID mode for SRT caching) I'm hoping it is similar for you:
Make UEFI the first boot device in the main boot order menu.
After the Windows boot DVD is inserted (may need to restart into the BIOS) an EFI boot option will appear under the UEFI boot BBS Priorities submenu. Select it as the first boot device.
Install Windows 64 bit with GPT partitions to 3TB drive.
After it reboots, go back to the UEFI boot BBS Priorities submenu and make EFI Windows Boot Manager the first boot device.
    Boot into Windows.
I may give up on the GPT partitions if I cannot get it to work in RAID mode; Seagate's DiscWizard utility magically allows the remaining space to be formatted as a separate partition for it's drives when they are already formatted as MBR. (But it only works with Seagate drives unless its installer is hacked.) If you ever figure out how to get RAID mode to work with one big GPT partition let me know!

  • HP solution center for window vista 32 bit and HP 6210

need to download Solution Center for HP office jet 6210 and Windows vista 32 bit. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi mary1929,
HP Solution Center is the main software program that you use to control and maintain HP printers that use version 13 and 14 software. Your printer uses a version of software that came before version 13 and 14. I believe you have something called HP Director. HP introduced HP Solution Center to replace HP Director in 2004.
I did find a document that says you may be able to install software for Vista that includes Solution Center. Please take a look at the information in this document; HP Director and Windows Vista Compatibility. If you recently upgraded to Windows Vista, you will not be able to use HP Director. However, you might be able to upgrade to HP Solution Center in its place.
This might be the software you need; File name: AIO_CDB_Full_Non-Network_enu_NB.exe
I hope this helps. If this does resolve the issue please let me know, if you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to ask.

  • Photosmart C4780 (Windows 7 - 32 bit) - installation hangs up

I am having difficulty installing the driver for the Photosmart C4780 on a Windows 7 (32 bit) PC.  I have downloaded the latest driver from HP support site.  I copied the file to a folder on my C Drive and extracted it to its own folder.  I run 'setup.exe' from that folder.   Installation gets to 'remove existing device...' and then nothing (stops - does no complete installation).   A device is listed as 'Photosmart..' but has the yellow exclamation mark next to 'troubleshoot'
I have restarted the PC.  Shutdown the printer by disconnecting the printer and power cables.  I have deleted folders in the temp folder.   I have tried several options and when I run the install I get to the same point and then it basically doesn't complete the installation.

    Hi,
If the printer is connected via USB, ensure the cable is disconnected.
Click the Start button and type %temp% into the search bar, press enter to open the folder listed within the searh results.
Open the HP installation folder which begins with 7z (e.g. 7zs1234), then open the Util folder and then the CCC folder.
Run Uninstall_L3.bat and an uninstall should start.
If only a black command prompt dialog appears press enter once, confirm any uninstall till a reboot is required.
Restart your PC, be sure to temporarly disable any AntiVirus or Rel Time protection software and reinstall the software, then check for any difference.
Please let me know the results,

  • LaserJet 1022 on Windows 8 64-bit driver problem

    Hello!
After I've upgraded my computer and installed Windows 8 my printer LaserJet 1022 won't work - the drivers fail to install.
    Operating system: Windows 8 64-bit
Printer: HP LaserJet 1022 connected via USB
I 'm trying to install latest drivers for 64-bit system (driver version 2012.918.1.57980 [18.09.2012]) and getting an error message that the driver cannot be installed because of a policy blocking NT4.0 drivers.
In the device manager the printer is listed in the 'Other devices'.
I have read forum topics on Windows 8 drivers installation but none of the solutions worked for me.
    Any suggestions will be appreciated.
    Pavel.

    Hi @debblong ,
I see that you are having issues installing the printer on Windows 8. I would like to help you resolve this issue.
To access the Start in Windows 8 to do the steps provided in the previous post, in desktop mode, press the Windows key and R at the same time, to show the run command line. Then you can type in %temp% to access the files to delete them.
For the printer not being detected, we can try a few things.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet and turned on, and the USB cable is connected directly to one of the back USB ports on the computer if using a Desktop, if you are using a Laptop try another USB port.
The USB cable shouldn't be longer then 6 feet.
Is the cable a 2.0 or 3.0 cable? How to determine whether a USB 3.0 device is operating at SuperSpeed?
Is the USB port on the computer 2.0 or 3.0?
Follow these steps in this document to get to the device manager to check for any printer entries.
How do I get into Windows Device Manager?
Then click on Identifying problems in Windows Device Manager.
In the list click on Universal Serial Bus controllers and look for USB printing support, (make sure any other printers are turned off or disconnected) right click and uninstall it. If you have any others with exclamation mark or other devices in the list, delete them also.
Let me know what it showed in the device manager.
Then click on Action, across the top of the window and scan for new hardware.
If the printer wasn't listed at all in the Device Manager, try another USB port on the computer and another USB cable.
Restart the computer and the printer also to see if the printer will be detected.
If the printer still isn't recognized, if you have another computer, connect the printer to it to see if it is recognized.
Just to rule out a USB port on the computer, USB cable or hardware issue with the USB port on the printer.
Here is the link to the driver page, if you need it. HP LaserJet Full Feature Software and Driver.
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
    Have a great day!

  • CS-4 Vista 64 Bit Installation problems - "checking system profile...."

    Hello All:
I know that this has been discussed in the past, but I was hoping that perhaps someone has determined a fix for the following problem.
Background: In the past, with Windows XP Professional, I never had problems with loading any Adobe products.  But just last week I reluctantly upgraded to Windows Vista Home Premium because it came with a new power system PC that I purchased (AMD quad-core 2.4 gHz Phenom CPU, 8 Gigs of RAM and 1 TB HD) and this is where my problems began:
Nature of problem:  I loaded the latest versions of Lightroom and Adobe Elements just fine - absolutely no problems there.  But when I tried to load my Photoshop CS-4 upgrade disk, it never gets past the "checking system profile" bar at the very beginning of the install process.  I mean to say that you initially get the install window and when you click "install," a small window comes up which indicates "checking system profile."  Then the progress indicator goes all the way to the right - around 90% to the right but then just hangs there - and I mean stays there...period.  I tried this several times, eventually having to use control/ALT/Delete in each instance to get it to stop.  I even let it stay there for over 6 hours - all to no avail.  What I found interesting is that just about all of my older programs - even those dating back to 2001 - all installed without a problem at all.
    2.  Actions I took to try and correct this:
        a.  Then, in my attempt to find fixes for this, I made sure to close out any background programs that were running (and Vista has a million of 'em), to include Firewall, Windows Defender, any other malware and anti-virus programs, not to mention a bunch of smaller programs that have items running in the background.  Then I tried loading CS-4 again....but still no go, the "checking system profile" indicator just hangs at 90% complete.  Note that at no time did the install process ever load any files at all - I checked everything to ensure this wasn't the case, otherwise I would have removed them.
        b.  On my next try, I then I copied all of the files from the CD to a folder on my desktop and tried to run the program from there - still no go as the "checking system profile" window still hangs at 90%  I even tried loading the program by right clicking on the exe file and installing "as administrator," but that didn't do the trick either.
        c.  Then I rebooted into safe mode, trying both to load the programs first from the CD and then from the desktop folder - still no go, but in this case it told me right up front that the action was unable to be completed.  I assumed this meant that in Windows Safe Mode, the installer was not available.
Help Needed:  So folks, I know this has been discussed in the past, but I don't know of any fixes that are available.  Can anybody help me through this process?  You can also send me direct emails at:  [email protected] - which means I'd get them right away.
This has been driving me up a wall because some other folks with Vista 64 Bit systems report that they had no problems with installation.  Again - it never makes it to installation, but gets hung up at the "checking system profile" stage.
    Argggggggg......
    Thanks,
    Ben Herrmann

I believe you are falling victim to some known incombatibility of LR vs. PS CS4 installer. This should be covered in the knowledge base, so check there. A short way to happiness may be using the CS4 Clean Utility to remove the debris from the failed installs and unregister other Adobe installs, then install PS CS4, but since I don't use LR and never have tried this, I'm not sure if this specific case is covered.

  • Windows 7  64 Bit and problem ripping CD's in Itunes

I have just bought a new PC with Windows 7 64 bit installed. rather than transferring my library I decided to install the latest version of I tunes and start from scratch. I then starting copying cd's. They copied really fast, up to 35x but when the final track had loaded the small green tick next to the track number did not appear. The small orange circle remains and Itunes is frozen. It stays like this for several minutes then clears and I move on to the next CD and repeat the whole operation. Any ideas ??

First thing, I would see if WMP can rip a CD in MP3 format.
That would tell us whether it's a general drive problem, or something specific to itunes.

Did you disconnect wireless on the 2 Windows 7 64 bit machines while testing wired?
What is the connection between the Actiontec and the Belkin?  LAN-to-WAN or LAN-to-LAN?
If the connection is LAN-to_LAN, the wireless connection on each machine would have obtained a DHCP address from the Actiontec.  When you connected wired, you would have gotten a new IP address based on the different MAC address of the wired NIC, resulting in the machine having 2 IP addresses.  This may not be readily apparent on the Actiontec main status page as the second connection will get a generated name of "new-host-xx" (the router can't reuse the same PC name for 2 different IP addresses).  Windows should be able to keep the two connections on the same subnet straight, but I've seen WIndows do stranger things.
If the connection is LAN-to-WAN, the Belkin must have a different subnet address than the Actiontec (e.g.. 192.168.2.x).  Now, if you connect both wired to the Actiontec (192.168.1.x) and wireless via the Belkin (192.168.2.x), Windows is going to have connections to two different subnets with two different gateway routers. Without explicit routing rules, Windows won't know which gateway to use.

  • Windows 7 64 bit has problems with Actiontec MI424WR while wired with wireless radio off

I have discovered an issue with Windows 7 64 bit OS.  My attempted set up was to havea 802.11n Belkin Play router connected to my Actiontec MI424WR router as a wireless access point with the MI424WR wireless radio turned off.  This worked fine for my XP 32 bit PC, my Windows 7 32 bit PC, and my 2 Windows 7 64 bit laptops using wireless.  A problem arose when I tried wired connections on the Windows 7 64 bit laptops and a Windows 7 64 bit PC.
While wired, internet would drop either completely or intermittently but too frequently to be useful.  Tech support had no idea what to do or what caused it.  It was reproducible after a reset of the router and then turning off the wireless radio.
I could fix it by turning on the wireless radio again, but I had hoped to turn it off and only use wireless from the 802.11n router.
    Any ideas?
