Solution For Accessing Verizon E-Mail Overseas & From Non-Verizon ISPs

After suffering like many of you, and not being able to access Verizon e-mail from Thunderbird (also relevant to any of you that use Outlook or other non-web based mail programs) finally got solution very quickly once a good Verizon USA based Tech focused on my problem, issued Verizon Repair Ticket number and problem was solved from Verizon's end in less than 1 hour.
So, the solution was simple.  I provided the IP Address where I am currently overseas.  Verizon then "white-listed" this IP address, where before it was "black-listed".  Here are some practical suggestions if you're having similar problems.
1.  If you reach Verizon Tech Support in any country outside USA ask to be transferred to a USA Tech.  Initially, I was connected to multiple techs in Mexico that said that a Verizon Repair Ticket could not be issued for this problem.  That statement is not true; Repair Tickets can and were issued for this problem.  Insist that a Repair Ticket be issued for your problem.  Don't accept anything less!
2.  Verizon techs in Mexico admitted that they don't have access to same level of information that USA techs do.  Mexico said there was no record of this collective problem that many of us have experienced since mid-September.  I told them to have a look at Verizon e-mail forums!
3.  No one outside of Verizon can solve this problem as the problem exists on Verizon's mail servers.
4.  Problem first started on or about September 17, 2014.
5.  When you deal with Verizon Tech Support in the USA be prepared to give them the IP address where your computer is connected where you currently can't retrieve e-mail.  It is easy to get your IP Address, just Google "what is my IP address" and you'll get a series of numbers, something like 123.45.678.901.  Give this to the tech so that IP address can be white-listed.
6.  As a practical matter if you're switching locations where you access e-mail, you may have to go through this procedure for each location where you want to get e-mail.  Just depends on whether that location is black listed or white listed.  This suggestion may not be practical if you're traveling to multiple locations overseas and are not in any one location for more than a couple of days.
As an aside, I think it is unconscionable that Verizon doesn't post a summary of this problem and the solution(s) for it.  Hopefully this posting will save you from making multiple 1+ hour phone calls to Verizon as I've done in the last 3+ weeks.
Cheers!

Dear Wayward American,
Thanks for your optimistic post. But for the average overseas traveler who is on business or on a touring vacation and is not at one place for more than a day or two, your comment "This suggestion may not be practical if you're traveling to multiple locations overseas and are not in any one location for more than a couple of days." renders this "solution" by Verizon quite useless.
Many overseas hotels have pretty dodgy e-mail systems anyway and may well give you a different IP address every 24 hours!

  • Is there a solution for graphs that do not translate from Excel to PDF?

    We are working on an Excel Spreadsheet with graphs but when we create a PDF of the sheet the graph does not contain the ledger or values. Is there a solution to this problem. We have tried both printing to PDF and exporting to PDF.

    Just a note: If you want to print the PDF to paper, it may still not print correctly even though it looks correct on the PDF document- the printed graph may flow off of the paper sheet.  When you click Print, a print dialog box opens with some options and a preview.  If the preview does not look correct, change the size option to "Shrink oversized pages".

  • Any solution for preventing converted data (to excel) from crashing?

    Any solution for preventing converted data (to excel) from crashing - file crashes on a consistent basis.

    Hi Shrinivas,
    LabVIEW is getting bug fixes and new features with each version step.
    But new features also can bring new bugs - and not all bugs from older versions are fixed by now…
    The MixedSignalGraph is a beast of it's own and known to have bugs inside. The one you noticed now is probably one of those.
    So it's not your fault your VI terminates rather "unhappy", but most probably NI's fault. You can have a workaround as described in the last post.
    If I have to take same data from wire as you mentioned, I need to save the data in some variable
    No, you don't need any "variable"! THINK DATAFLOW: the wire is the variable!
    I have to write the data to excel file using report generation tool kit or some other way. … Please let me know if I can do it in some other easy methods.
    It all depends on the datatype of your data. There are functions to save to spreadsheet files. You can save in binary files. You can create TDMS files , which can be read by Excel too. All those functions are really easy to use - you just have to look at the example VIs coming with LabVIEW!

  • Solutions for access as ROOT for RAC DBA duties

    Our Networking Team and Applications Team are going through some growing pains. We are trying to resolve what permissions should be given to a RAC DBA. Our RAC DBA is responsible for Oracle Clusterware, Oracle Automatic Storage
    Management and Oracle RDBMS software. The OS, Server and Storage Subsystem are the responsibility of the System Administrator. We have the following Environment:
    Production and Test (RAC)
    Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 update 2
    Oracle Clusterware 11.2.0.2 -- Grid Infrastructure
    Oracle ASM 11.2.0.2
    Oracle Database 11.2.0.2 EE
    Development (Single Instance)
    Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 update 2
    Oracle ASM 11.2.0.2 -- Grid Infrastructure
    Oracle Database 11.2.0.2 EE
    As the RAC DBA, I have identified the following areas that require ROOT for RAC and Single Instance DB's; however, I understand there may be more:
    diagcollection.pl
    - diagnostic tool for Oracle Clusterware and may be requested by Oracle Support
    ocrconfig
    - to repair ocr configuration issue (add, replace and remove requires root)
    srvctl modify
    - required root to change ip address
    tar
    - TAR Grid Infrastructure Directory structure preserving files with ROOT ownership
    cluvfy
    - cluvfy fix it scripts need to run as ROOT
    - some cluvfy commands under 11gr1 would only run properly for -post cfs check as ROOT in our last installation
    ASM Libraries
    - ROOT required to install and configure ASM libraries
    fdisk - l
    - this is used to see disks attached which is relevant when ASM disks are not mounted
    /etc/sysconfig/oracleasm
    - oracleasm loading configuration file
    /usr/sbin/oracleasm
    - to make disks available to ASMLIB (scandisks etc.)
    /usr/sbin/asmtool
    - asm config tool due to bug
    asm cluster file system
    - some commands require ROOT (mounting etc.)
    - acfsutil
    /var/log/messages
    - loading errors ohas and oracleasm would be logged here
    cvuqdisk
    - needs to be loaded for new install
    root.sh
    - script needed to run at install, upgrades and patching
    oraInstRoot.sh
    - script needed to run at install
    rootupgrade.sh
    - upgrade script
    roothas.pl
    - upgrade script
    ocrcheck
    - check for ocr corruption
    - corrupt check portion requires ROOT
    - oracle local registry
    Grid Infrstructure
    - .runInstaller from Grid Infrastructure
    - includes upgrades
    asm configuration assistant (asmca)
    - configuration of asm diskgroups
    - vol mgr for asm disks
    ocrconfig
    - ocr configuration tool
    - ocr import
    - ocr export
    - oracle local registry
    ocrdump
    - used to check ocr backup file
    - oracle local registry
    opatch
    - patching grid control requires ROOT
    crsctl
    - Startup and Shutdown Oracle Clusterware, Oracle ASM and Database/Instance
    - restore voting disk
    - restore ocr
    - set log for dynamic debugging
    - check install periodically
    srvctl
    - modify nodeapps (ex. ip address change)
    - add filesystem (acfs)
    What solutions have people found so that RAC DBA can perform responsibilites yet not have ROOT password?

    In all the environments I've worked in, I either had direct su access with knowledge of the root password or used sudo. I really can't imagine an environment that would require something other than either of those two options.
    In places with stricter auditing requirements we used sudo in conjunction with the sudosh shell wrapper to log all activities to syslog, but this was used by everyone and not just the DBA
    Is SUDO the only solutuion? Every command need to be entered into SUDO config files that necessitates ROOT access.
    As I demonstrated in the other thread, giving the oracle user sudo access to files that are writable by the oracle user (eg. root.sh) gives them the ability to access to a root shell. It is good to implement a "minimum privileges necessary" policy in your organization but it has to be within reason. The minimum privilege necessary for running and maintaining CRS is root.

  • Move Verizon E-mail address from one account to another

    I am wondering if it is possible to move an email address from one account to another. I am the primary account holder for a couple of email addresses - one of which is my mother-in-law. I am discontinuing my Verizon account but she has since started a Verizon FIOS account at her house. I'd like to move her email address to her account so the switch for her is painless (or as painless as possible). Thanks, in advance, for your help.

    Yes and No. As of right now they will not move email address unless the name on both accounts match exactly.

  • Solution for color coding Apple Mail mail boxes?

    Using OS 10.9.5, I would like to find an Apple or  third party solution that would allow me to color-code my mailboxes in Apple Mail version 7.3.

    * UPDATE *
    If I search for text in an email I am viewing (in the Mail split screen format) the found text still remains grey.
    HOWEVER, if I double click the email to open it and then search for text the found text is now in the correct colour.

  • Accessing my .mac mail account from 3 different ways. What stays on server?

    I access the mail on my .mac mail account (on the .mac mail server) three different ways.
    My laptop uses the Mail application and downloads new messages that are not filtered out as spam. Downloaded messages should not be automatically deleted from the server - at least I don't think they are. They were all erased at one point. Maybe my error. But not now. at least since 4/2/08.
    Why?
    Because later in the day I may want to access my account email from a remote computer via the .mac account page on any browser I might be using. I'd want it all to be there.
    Or I may want to download my email to my Palm Treo 700P using Versamail and read and respond to my email that way. I certainly would not want email downloaded to my Treo erased from the server because I would want to access that same email to store on my Mail account on my laptop when I return to the office.
    How do I coordinate among all 3?
    I think I would like all mail put in the trash via my Mail application on my desktop to be erased from the server after - say - 2 weeks. That's it. Only via the Mail application.
    Never via the Treo and Versamail.
    Never via my .mac account email application via a browser on another computer.
    Steve

    You can access a .Mac account as an IMAP or POP account.
    If you access your .Mac account as an IMAP account with the Mail.app on your Mac, and as an IMAP account with your Palm Treo, all server stored mailboxes will be kept synchronized with the server automatically with both email clients used, and when accessing the account via webmail using a browser.
    You can store the account's Drafts, Sent, Trash and Junk mailboxes on the server with the Mail.app, and you should be able to do the same with the Palm Treo's email client.
    Send a message via the account with the Palm Treo, and the sent message will be available in the account's Sent mailbox automatically when checking the account with the Mail.app on your Mac, and when checking the account via webmail using a browser, and vice-versa.
    An IMAP account is designed to be accessed with an email client on multiple computers or devices. A POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client on one computer or device.
    With an IMAP account, messages in all server stored mailboxes remain on the server until deleted, or until moved to a mailbox stored locally on your computer. All received messages will remain on the server in the account's Inbox mailbox - available when checking the account with the Mail.app, and when checking the account with your Palm Treo, and when checking the account via webmail. Read a received message with the Mail.app that is not deleted, and the message will be marked as read when checking the account with your Palm Treo, and vice-versa.

  • How to configure CA for access to a Web Service from an app deployed in WL

    Hi everyone.
    I have an app deployed in a WLS (10.3). This app acts like a web service client and works correctly (spring + cxf). The web service is provided by an external company and now they want to switch to https. They are using a self signed certificate. My company's support staff told me that they already configured the domain's trusted key store but the app fails to invoke the WS with the following error:

    I'm the app's developer and I don't have experience in this subjects. Is the wl misconfigured? Should I do something from the app to reference the keystore?
    Thanks un advance.
    Sorry for my english.

    Hi user10939158, thank you for your response. Maybe I was not precise in my previous post. I know how certificates work and that I should not be using self signed ones. Due to a reason (non technical) we MUST use a self signed certificates. Considering this as a prerequisite let me clarify my situation:
    - We added the certificate to the custom trust store connfigured in WL
    - We configure the managed server to be more "verbose" about SSL stuff
    - When the managed server start it outputs the following lines in the log:
    <Dec 13, 2010 5:31:21 PM ARST> <Notice> <Security> <BEA-090169> <Loading trusted certificates from the JKS keystore file /wldomains/desa_domain/TrustCTWebservices.jks.>
    <Dec 13, 2010 5:31:21 PM ARST> <Debug> <SecuritySSL> <BEA-000000> <SSLContextManager: loaded 1 trusted CAs from /wldomains/desa_domain/TrustCTWebservices.jks>
    <Dec 13, 2010 5:31:21 PM ARST> <Debug> <SecuritySSL> <BEA-000000> <Subject: CN=jserver, OU=SWG, O=IBM, C=US; Issuer: CN=jserver, OU=SWG, O=IBM, C=US>
    - In this lines we can see the certificate that interests us (jserver)
    - When the app do a WS reqeust we see in the log:
    <Dec 13, 2010 5:32:43 PM ARST> <Notice> <Stdout> <BEA-000000> <trustStore is: /opt/bea/jrockit_160_05/jre/lib/security/cacerts> (THE VM's DEFAULT KEYSTORE!!!!!!)
    - If we add the cert to /opt/bea/jrockit_160_05/jre/lib/security/cacerts everything works ok but I have doubts that this is right.
    Why the default keystore is used?
    Thank you very much
    Regards

  • What's the best solution for audio out of sound files from a MacBook Air to both an amplifier and to a subwoofer amplifier? I'm using the MBA to play sound files for worship services at our church.

    I have a MacBook Air (13", 1.7GHz, 8GB RAM, 500GB SSD) that I'll be using to play sound files (primarily organ and piano) for worship services at my church. We'll be using a QSC RMX2450 650 Watts/Channel amplifier with Community CPL-27 speakers and also a JBL SUB 250P powered subwoofer with its own amplifier. What's the best option for getting sound out from the Mac to both of these amplifiers?

    if you work with own recorded sounds you might wanna have a music program where you want to work with samples, steinberg has got very good ones (so they say)... but their really really ( ²) expensive(that's why almost no one haves them), magix haves good ones too bu their more for 'unprofessional' use, ableton haves really good ones too and they're not to difficult to use (if you know a bit of those programs you learn very quickly) and if you don't get them, there is a sort of manual built in it which explains and lets you do things to start (basics)
    i hope this helped, btw stereo speakers are always better if you buy good ones (no pc speakers), but if you don't think you need them, don't buy them...

    I have an AppleScript which automatically sends HTML emails after a delay of a few days from receipt of an incoming email produced by a web form. It works well except for one issue:
    The address it sends to are picked up from the web form so I have been testing failure modes for various badly formed email addresses. Most fail gracefully with NDNs except if the domain does not exist. In this case Mail opens a dialog window with "Cannot send message using server etc". This is not good for an unattended Mac automatically processing thousands of emails a day. Mail appears not to inform AppleScript of this glitch.
    Any thoughts about a solution would be appreciated.
    I only have Tiger and Leopard but this script will eventually run on a recent Mac.

    This is a style thing, but I try to write my code so it is easy to debug.
    if (do shell script "x='" & w & "';
    z=${x##*@};
    t=`dig +short ${z%>*} MX`;
    echo ${#t}") > 0 then display dialog "send"
    It is hard to debug what is being passed to Unix.
    I'd write this something like
    [[ I have not tested this ! ]]
    [ I have not taken in Hiroto's comments ]:
    -- I write the code so as to debug it.  I would not assume the statement above would work the first time.
    -- I let the log statements in the final code.  They do not do anything outside of the script editor.
    set toUnix to  "x='" & w & "';
    z=${x##*@};
    t=`dig +short ${z%>*} MX`;
    echo ${#t}"
    log "toUnix = " & toUnix
    set result to do shell toUnix
    log "result = " & result
    -- I do not understand this statement. Shoudn't we be testing for the length of result? Or not equal to null?
    if result > 0 then
      display dialog "send"

  • Good/robust/high performance solution for calling Java from C

    Hi,
    I am looking for a good/robust/high performance solution for invoking a local java component from a C application in Windows.
    About Java component:
    - It has multiple methods that would be called very frequently from C application
    - It will reside in local machine. This machine may not have access to internet/LAN.
    My preference is to implement this java component as indepent running exe and have C application make outprocess calls. Is this possible?
    Any help/suggestions on this are greatly appreciated
    Thanks,
    -Arun

    I will stop replying to this conversation, unless it
    remains professional and without getting personal.I suggest you read your replies again then since you were the one that strayed from the topic and referred to my competency.
    >
    Or conversely those that have been working with JNIfor close to 10 years >might have a different opinion
    that someone who is promoting a commercial >product?
    I cannot see anything wrong with sharing and letting
    people know of potential solutions that might help to
    solve their problems.Not a problem at all.
    You however stated an absolute. I asked you to back up that absolute with something that was objective.
    You then lashed out at me and questioned my competency.
    >
    So you are questioning my competence as well as myintent?
    And not bothering to address the question at all.
    I am guessing you haven't actually attempted tocompare JNI to on board >sockets but instead you are
    just guessing.
    Frankly, I don't see how a socket solution with
    process switching overhead is going to work faster
    than a direct method call, passing parameters over
    the stack, the whole operation taking place
    in-process.
    And thus, as I thought, you haven't actually attempted to compare the two.
    And in terms of competency I can only wonder if youare competent enough
    to write the test frameworks that would demonstrateone or the other.
    As said earlier, there is no need to get personal,
    let's keep professional!
    And as I said earlier I would suggest that you look to your own replies.
    As mentioned, I do have enough experience for those
    who need to interoperate with Java using JNI, and can
    show how to do it in a safe and productive manner.
    And as I have said for the third time now that has nothing to do with what I actually asked you.
    The code that someone writes via JNI has much lessusage, and thus is much >more likely to have
    problems. Even if someone is competent in creating
    JNI >and C code.
    Thus JNI Is less stable.
    And by the way that includes the commercial productthat you are promoting >as well.
    Expressing an opinion on a product just based on its
    underlying technology without proper evaluation
    doesn't sound like constructive criticism.
    So you are claiming that your product is in fact more stable than the VM or at least as stable even though it has had far, far less usage?
    The only thing that can be said about the product so
    far, it that a product that is in production for some
    years without any problems, has a certain level of
    reliability and quality, whatever the underlying
    technology might be, and that there is enough
    competency with JNI to produce it and advice about
    the technology.
    True. But you were the one that brought up unrelated issues and then, as best as I can tell, thought to challenge my knowledge by pointing out how VMs "really" work.

  • "mail.smtp.from" is not working for me

    There seem to be zero other posts like this, so I'm probably just doing something obviously dumb,
    but for me, setting the mail.smtp.from property seems to have no effect.
    The debug output shown below says to me that while the property has been set, the transport is using the From address not the value of the property.
    Any suggestions for what might be causing this?
    //set:
    Properties prop = new Properties();
    prop.put("mail.smtp.host", SMTPServers ); //see below
    prop.put("mail.smtp.from","[email protected]");
    sessions{i} = Session.getInstance(prop, null);
    //use:
    System.out.println("(session mail.smtp.from is '" + sessions{i}.getProperty("mail.smtp.from") + "')");
    sessions{i}.setDebug(true);
    mimeMsg = generateMimeMsg(msg, sessions{i});
    Transport.send(mimeMsg);
    //the console output:
    (session mail.smtp.from is '[email protected]')
    DEBUG SMTP SENT: mail from: <[email protected]>
    //note - Looks like this forum's software is grabbing my square brackets,
    so {i} in this post stands for opensquarebracket i closesquarebracket...

    I haven't read the FAQ, at least not lately. I'm just stating an interpretation of the behaviour that you described.
    Normally, system properties are used to specify defaults that can be overridden. It doesn't make sense to me to have to set a system property to "override" something that you do normally in your code. As a designer, it's obvious to me that the system property should be the default value for "from" and it should be possible to override that on a message-by-message basis by explicitly setting (and thus overriding) the from-address. And you confirm that it really does work that way. I'm not surprised at all. I would suggest that if the FAQ doesn't say that, then it needs to be fixed.

  • OpenSource code for accessing Life Science data sources?

    We know that many people use Oracle in Life Sciences. Per IDC, Oracle has a 75-80% market share in "Discovery". Oracle would like to help facilitate the exchange of customer code for accessing LS data e.g from GenBank, SwissProt, etc., but Oracle Legal concerns prevent us from posting customer's code on our web site.
    Does anyone have any LS code that is based on Oracle that they are willing to share with others on say SourceForge.net? Is there any location where people are already posting this type of Oracle-based open source code?

    Please go to SourceForge.net at http://sourceforge.net/projects/oraclelifesci/. Subscribe the mailing list or join the project development. To contribute codes you can chose one of the following:
    1. If you would like to use CVS or you need shared development by others, you can use cvs in sourceForge.net to upload your code.
    2. email your code to [email protected]
    You may also use other facilities that sourceForge has. It only take a couple hours in the beginning to known SourceForge.net.
    We welcome codes in all programming langages (Java, Perl, PL/SQL, C, etc) for life science applications on Oracle Platform. Thank you.

  • I am unable to access my yahoo mail account

    I am unable to access my yahoo mail account on my iphone 4S, i hve tried to add it but keep getting the message "server unavailable try back later"  Can someone help me with this

    When you were entering your new password in mac mail for your Yahoo account, you didn't perchance change the user name from [email protected] to just name without the @att.net? I only ask because I've done that, and att.yahoo mail requires a fully qualified [email protected] for access.
    In mail, you might click on window on the menu bar, then connection doctor. On the account with the red dot next to it, it will tell you why it can't connect, and if you click on it, you'll be taken to where you can fix it.

  • Need OWA solution for Q10

    Our IT department only supports OWA for remote access to email. Activesync is not enabled and will not be enabled. POP and IMAP are also not allowed. I upgraded from my Bold to Q10 and now cannot access email remotely. Why is there no solution for this Blackberry? Below is from KB03133. Why is blackberry assuming IT departments will have activesync enabled.
    Note: BlackBerry 10 does not support integration of Outlook Web Access email accounts. However, most Outlook Web Access accounts will have Active Sync enabled. To determine if Active Sync is enabled and to confirm the settings, contact the IT administrator for the account.

    All the IT departments I know of either use BES exclusively or they enable ActiveSync. There is no other solution I know of for BlackBerrys. BB10 was designed specifically with AcitveSync in mind.
