Solution for backing up iphone itunes 10.5

they have the probelem with seeing a backup option when syncing or right clicking on the name of the device. while the command line works for some people running itunes 9.2 , it doesnt work for running itunes 10 or for mac users. the easiest solution to this is to download a program called backoff for mac or windows. simply quit itunes, and click the toggle off, then back on again.

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if the problem has been resolved.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Best solution for backing up 3 Mac's with one drive

I know there are several options for backing up one computer, but I would like to be able to backup 3 computers on a single 1TB external drive. Is this possible and would it be possible to use Time Machine on all 3 pc's. I know I will have to move the drive between them. I would prefer a NAS, but cost is an issue.
Any help would be appreciated and I hope this is the correct forum for it.

TM will also work. I would give each machine it'sown partition, assign one partition to each machine as its TM backup volume.
I know that a Time Capsule at $299-1TB and $499-2TB is much more then just a USB2 or even firewire hard drive, but remember that with a Time Capsule you are also upgrading to a 802.11n wireless router with true dual band support (simultaneous 802.11g and 802.11n connections, each running at their native speeds). Just a thought, if your wifi network is getting old too and you are thinking of an update there at the same time.

  • Solution for font problem using iTunes store (iTunes 9 @ Vista)

For all those of you who experience font problems rendering the iTunes store (I got partly jibberish many letters rendered as squares). For me it turned out that
my Arial fonts were corrupted (there were other files with the same font names residing in my Windows font directory). Deleting all Arial and installing them new from another Vista machine solved the problem.
I got to analyze the problem as follows: the rendering of the iTunes 9 store is done by the webkit. This reads a list of available fonts with files names from the registry and stores it in the file C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\WebKit\FontsList.plist (do not edit, it is generated each time you start iTunes anew). If you compare (e.g., using diffdaff) this file to the one of a Vista computer that does not show the font problem, you pretty soon realize which font family might cause the problem for you. For me it was Arial (which is used by Windows as a substitution for the Helvetica fonts BTW).

You can try to download items one at a time to get rid of this error message. Follow these steps for such:
    1) Open iTunes.
    2) From the Store pull-down menu at the top, choose Check for Purchases.
    3) Enter your account name and password, then click Check. Your purchases should begin downloading.
    4) Under the STORE section on the left, click Downloads.
    5) Click the Pause All button in the lower-right corner. This will temporarily pause all of your downloads.
    6) To resume only one of the downloads, click the refresh button that appears to the right of one of the paused downloads.
If that doesn't help, you may want to consider performing the following to be sure no software is conflicting with iTunes:
1.) Disable all anti-virus software you may have running
2.) Disable all firewall software you may have running
3.) Disable all web acceleration software you may have running
4.) If you are connected to the internet via an internet router, please disconnect it and connect directly via your broadband modem
    Hope this helps =)

  • A solution for getting QT and iTunes to install

OK, I have NO idea why this worked, but it did, and I haven't seen it in these forums, so I'm posting here in case it might help someone else. I couldn't get iTunes or QT standalone to install and spent many frustrating hours trying and posting messages here. I JUST got it to work by doing the following: I again deleted all Quicktime stuff from my computer by going into the Programs folder and also doing the regedit thing. I again disabled my antivirus and firewall software. I then again downloaded QT standalone. When it did its usual trick of the installer window disappearing down to the taskbar, I clicked on Start and then Shut Down. Got error messages, but then--voila--as if by magic, QT then completed installation. Hallelujah! I then successfully and uneventfully downloaded iTunes, which I am now taking for its maiden voyage. I found this solution in ilounge.com's forums, which Walt Mossberg recommended in his latest Wall Street Journal column. Praises and blessings be unto Walt and the ilounge poster!

Mysteriously fixed - plugged my iPhone in last night to listen to some music and noticed that something was Dow.oSing from iCloud - screen showed playlists when download was finished - all my Genius playlists were populated - not sure what happened but happy I have my playlists back on my phone.

  • Best practice for backing up iPhone??

I have authorized two computers in iTunes. I would like to know if it is a good idea to backup the iPhone on more than one computer? If so, will a normal sync create a backup on the second computer? For those of you who are already doing this, please let me know of any issues.

Authorizing iTunes on both doesn't mean you can sync all data to both...
Since iPhone won't sync the "same" data on two machines then in order to sync data you must make sure one machine syncs music etc and other is like calendar email etc...With that you should be able to get two back ups but again to me that's not needed at all...
In theory the back up should happen on both although honestly not really necessary at all in my opinion...

    Hi All,
I'd like to revive this thread and ask for further clarification of why SWF reloading isn't supported in AoT builds for iOS for SWF assets that have ABC.  When we package these assets using ADT it strips the bytecode from these files and packages it within the primary application SWF so I don't think that Apple ToU compliance is an issue any longer.  I assume there must be a technical limiation in how the loaded SWF with stripped ABC is linked back up with it's bytecode after loading.
Is this a limitation of the AIR runtime that can be worked around in the future, or something that stems from a technical limitation of how the cross-compiled code actually executes under iOS?  In otrher words, can it be fixed in a future release of AIR?
It seems to me that the promise of using AIR is the ability to target web and iOS from the same codebase.  If you have an existing application of some complexity targeting web then it's likely loading assets on demand and reloading them later as needed (Ex. we have over 700 items in game that can be equipped on avatars and each is a separate SWF asset).  Having to extensively modify the app's asset manager for the iOS platform crates the need for divergent codebases at the core level for each platform.  It seems like this is an important flaw to address if Adobe wants to target mobile gaming.

  • After 2.0, every time I sync I have to wait for "backing up iPhone"

I installed 2.0 the other day. Since then I have downloaded some new apps and hooked it up to sync it to install the new apps. Instead of just updating the phone, I first get a bar at the top of iTunes indicating that it is backing up the iPhone, which takes 30-45 minutes.
    Is this a new "feature?"

Before it just had to sync content and back up a few settings. But now it wants to back up all your apps that you installed and with each app, they all have their own settings or databases. So the more apps you put on, the longer it is going to take. Also note, it will only backup if you accessed an app. So lets say you sync. Then never touch any of your apps and sync again. It won't back them up. But if you open lets say Shazam, it will then have to back it up and all it's data (which can include ablumb art, photos you added to that app, etc).

  • Solution for buying music from itunes in France

    Hi,
I live in Boston, but do have a second residence in France. I intend to spend a month there in the summer. I don't have a credit card in France. How can I purchase one of those precious gift certificates for French Itunes and use it when I am back in the US? Thanks for your help!

How can I purchase one of those precious gift certificates for French Itunes and use it when I am back in the US?
If you have a residence in France so that you have a billing address there, the next time you're in France, purchase a prepaid card (they're available through the Apple Store and perhaps through other retailers there), then open a new iTunes Store account in the French Store using that prepaid card. Or have a friend with a French iTunes Store account purchase a gift certificate for you, and then similarly use that code to open an account in the French iTunes Store.
    Regards.

  • HT6147 I want a solution for find my iphone

I remove the iPhone from find my iphone clery i think i do erset to format it and now the phone whin the find my iphone whill do shot down to the phone and give me black screen and restart mark pless help me
thanx to apple coz you do the best

Ok, I misunderstood. The Find My iPhone app is on your iPhone or iPad, not on your Mac. If it is not in iTunes under Apps, then try downloading it again. It is free.
iDVD has apparently been dropped with new Macs. It is rumored to still be available on the iLife DVDs, but I don't know how long that may last. I've never used anything else, so I don't know what to replace it with. I think Toast will burn a DVD, but I don't know if it will do all the design and menu things.

    http://world.casio.com/qv/download/en/exs600firmup/
this is the avi fix from Casio for the EX-S600. Load this on your computer and it should self load where it needs it. If not drag it to the QT folder in iPhoto and this solved my problem with the EX-S500 after I removed all of the other lines of text in the folder. So in non tech speak list the folders contents in other than icon view and drag it all out except for the latest download from Casio. I had downloaded flip4mac before and also the lemonkid codec listed in the Casio support info under cameras, yet when the latest QT 7 loaded it shut all the avi's from casio out. Not anymore!... till?

  • Solutions for issues on iPhones with firmware 3.0

Don't know if these issues - flaws and fixes have been addressed in this forum, but here it is.
    Issues:
Since updating to firmware 3.0 on my 2G and 3G iPhone, I have noticed the following problems on both iPhones:
    1) slow response, faster battery drain, general erratic behavior
    2) GPS is inaccurate, long time to connect to satellites for GPS tracking, was accurate when on firmware 2.2.1 using Map app (only on 3G or maybe 3GS iPhones too)
    Fixes:
    1) turns out that the cause of the first issue on both iPhones (at least for me) was when the iPhones updated to firmware 3.0 - PUSH email service was automatically enabled. Disabling PUSH email service to FETCH email service in preference did the trick. While your there, scroll to the bottom and chose Advance then choose each email address and change to Fetch as well for each email address listed. Yes this will disable Push email, but will temporarily fix this issue until the firmware fix comes out.
    2) this issue is really addressed for 3G and 3GS iPhones with GPS capabilities only. To make the GPS accurate again and connect with tracking satellites, turn off 3G networking service. Probably another firmware issue which causes a GPS - 3G network conflict, but once the 3G network service is disabled, the GPS worked accurately again and connected to tracking satellites instantaneously. GPS accuracy worked flawlessly with Navigon app mapping when 3G network service is disabled. When you need the 3G service just activate again.
These simple fixes might not work for everyone, but try it out, it worked for me.

    and by the way...
I found out that if you push Play, FM, Record and the 5-way-button-down; it resets the player.
You don't have to wait for the battery to run down.
    OH MY GOD!!!!!
    YOU'RE MY HERO!!!!!
I still have my own topic unanswered about the file sorting in the player, tho....:(

  • Is Veeam and BackupAssist good solutions for backing up my environment?

    Hi,
I currently have 3 VMWare hosts and several physical servers (with around 100TB of data). To backup my data, I was recommended Veeam for the VMs and BackupAssist for the physical servers.
I am not an IT person, so being easy to use and manage is a huge thing for me (think something like CrashPlan Pro). Are those solutions the best ones for my needs? I don't mind paying a bit if it means easy of management and even the ability to see the status of my backups on a dashboard.
    Thanks for your input!
