SOLUTION!! For connecting to itunes Store after loading version 9.03!

Spent a week in frustration: finally an itunes support agent persisted & found the solution!
In itunes, Go to Edit, then to Preferences, then to Parental Control Tab. Once there, add a check to DISable access to the itunes store, which will then allow you to check the box to allow access to itunes U. (it may do it for you). Now, load the store again, and you should see it load directly to itunes U. with no problem. If it does, go back to Edit>Preferences>Parental Controls and remove all check marks, thereby enabling access to everything. Now reload the store, and it should work!

I have FINALLY got this to work.
For those that may also be having trouble, here's what I did in the hope it may solve your problems too.
After trying the parental control solution yesterday, I found that didn't work for me.
Today, iTunes would start and crash after about 30secs.
Rebooting PC = same again.
Connecting iPhone to sync = same again.
I noticed SyncServer was running in the Task List, I didnt remember seeing it before. Searching through online posts, someone mentioned the Genius feature in iTunes. I had switched mine off only yesterday though I'd been having problems signing in for nearly two weeks.
In desperation, I tried the following:
First, I turned AVG off (temporarily disabled Resident Shield).
I then started iTunes and before it could crash I went into Edit, Preferences and turned the Genius feature back on.
Then I tried the Parental control solution again - and would you believe it, I can now log on.
Phew!
What a run-around and a mess.
Now I don't know if turning AVG off had anything to do with it but since AVG Free does not have a firewall, I don't believe it does. However, try it and see if it does the trick.

    Applecare Senior Advisor Txx Bxxx (I have his contact info in an email he just sent) just confirmed with me that the problem people are having with the App Store not loading is an apple issue with there servers, ITS NOT YOUR IPAD so don't go restoring it!   It's not happening to everyone however but they are looking into it, its really hit or miss.

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    This works for some users. Not sure why.
    Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

    "itunes could not connect to itunes store"
    "Make sure network connection is active and try again"
    Norton was the problem ....
    -open Norton
    -Select "Internet Security", then "Status & Settings"
    -Select "Personal Firewall", then "Programs"
    -Scroll down to itunes
    My situation had itunes Internet access set to
    "block all" I changed this setting to "permit all"

    My iPad 3rd generation was just updated to iOS yesterday without any problems. I can use the Internet and the wifi network just fine.

    If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store:
    Make sure your date, time, and time zone are correct in Settings > General > Date & Time. 
    Note: Time Zone may list another city in your time zone.
    Make sure that your iOS software is up to date by tapping Settings > General > Software Update (iOS 5 or later) or connecting your iOS device to iTunes and clicking Check for Update on your device's Summary page.
    Check and verify that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're on a device with cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > General > Cellular.
    Note: If connected to cellular data, larger items may not download. You may need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.

  • Cannot Connect it iTunes store after upgrade

    I STUPIDLY allowed the iTunes upgrade to install today. Now I cannot connect to the iTunes store. I have completely shut off the Norton Firewall. Get this... I run the iTunes diagnostic tool (Help.. run diagnostics) and it tells me everything's connecting fine:
    I ran the diagnostics. It says all the connections are good but I still cannot connect to the iTunes store after I upgraded. I have completely shut off my firewall.

    After several hours of searching in the forums and trouble-shooting I ended up on Norton chat support. They suggested I uninstall and reinstall Norton 360, and even gave me a free upgrade from v1.0 to v2.0 Inbetween removal of the v1.0 and reinstallation, I tried iTunes and was able to connect to the store. After installing v2.0 I can still connect so I'm running again for awhile.... .until the next update. Other people running Norton have had similar problems and Norton updates fixed it.
    I still can't run the exact same iTunes library on my Vista laptop because artwork makes iTunes crash. An early 7.x update caused this and I had to move everything to my desktop with XP.

    I am afraid the are many possible causes for this.
    Have you ever been able to connect to the store? If so, did you change anything just before the problem occurred?
    The best way to start is to post your iTunes network connectivity diagnostics:
    Help>>Run Diagnostics>>Network connectivity tests.
    Paste the entire result into your next post.
    In the mean time, you will see a number of threads about this which may give you some help.
    Try briefly turning off your firewall to see if that allows connection. Think about other aspects of security software, antiphishing filters, popup blockers, parental controls. Web accelerators and proxy servers can also cause problems.

    A couple months ago, someone tried to hack my itunes account.  I was able to change the password and lock them out, before they changed the email address.  I changed all of my info back to what it should be, but ever since, I haven't been able to update any apps from my iphone.  I can't download new apps either.  I just get a message that says "Cannot connect to iTunes store."  I can, however, download apps, in itunes, on my PC (after having to reauthorize the PC).  Any ideas as to why I still can't download, or update, apps from my iphone?  I did check the "Can't connect to the iTunes Store" page and didn't find anything to help.  The iOS is up to date, and I do have wifi access.

    Network connection OK & functioning. All other apps can connect to the internet. windows firewall has itunes and bonjour enabled. Flushed DNS. Upgraded to iTunes 8.2 and was able to connect to itune stores. Upgraded to Vista SP2 today and cannot connect to itunes store. Any ideas??

    Fixed it. I had both windows firewall and Kaspersky firewall tuned off. Turned Kaspersky ON and confirm iTunes was allowed. Can now connect to itunes Store!! STRANGE. It won't connect with all firewalls turned OFF???

  • Can't connect to iTunes store after upgrade to iTunes 10.5

    I've been trying to get this to work all day. I've done the whole uninstall in this order and reinstall several times to no avail. I've also tried the "netsh winsock reset" thing I saw on another question which also didn't work.
    On top of this whenever I try to sync my ipod touch 4g with it, it says that the iPod touch timed out so it couldn't sync (tried to sync several times).
    Then I tried to upgrade to iOS 5 (also tried several times) but all I get is a frozen iTunes or the it hangs up on the backup phase. Can someone please help me solve this?!

    I was having the same problem earlier today, and what I ultimately did to solve the issue was:
    Completely uninstall iTunes 10.5 by following http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925
    Find my backup iTunes Library File (*.itl) from the previous version, and copy it to "iTunes Library.itl"

    Reinstall with the previous software, iTunes 10.4.1
    The fact that the old 10.4.1 software works correctly in accessing the iTunes Store, and the new 10.5 software does not work correctly, suggests to me that there is some kind of bug in the iTunes 10.5 application itself. Hopefully the developers can figure it out. In the meantime, I'm happily working again on the previous version and will be planning to stay there until this mess has been cleared up.
