Solution for FaceTime connectivity issue

Read this if your FaceTime sometimes works and sometimes not:
What I have experienced was that at home I could not FaceTime with whatever mac device (iMac / MacBook / iPod touch) reliably. Sometimes it was possible sometimes not.
The same devices in another network (my GF / Apple Store) FaceTime was reliable.
In another thread on AD I found this suggestion to change the DNS into the google DNS 8.8.8.8
This finally after months of trouble shooting solved the issue. I consequently changed the DNS on all devices into 8.8.8.8.
I went as far as to reproduce the fault. I changed my iPod touch DNS back into 192.168.1.1. restarted. FaceTime failed. Then a minute later changed DNS back to 8.8.8.8 and again FaceTime was possible.
I'm so happy that this is finally solved.
iMac 10,1   Mac OS X (10.6.3)

I tried all the network DNS settings on my router and on my mac, I tried re-installing the application, I tried deleting the .plist file.... NOTHING WORKED...... HOWEVER.....
I called Mac support half hour before they closed last night, and in that time we managed to establish that the problem lies with preferences or faults with my USER account, NOT my network settings...
Try it yourself - Create another user account called 'TEST', log out of your main account completely (Don't use fast user switching), log into your TEST account and use FaceTime... Bet you it works!... It did for me!
I'm in the process of transferring all my documents and mail accounts over to the new user account I created. (As I also had other problems... Like Safari and Mail warning me ALL THE TIME that certificates weren't trusted... It was driving me nuts)
Good luck people, let me know if it works for you....

  • I'm having FaceTime connectivity issues

I'm having FaceTime connectivity issues. Every time I FaceTime other apple user the connections drops right away.

Well I'm here to own up.  My dad was over today and he has an iPad 2 with iOS 7.1.1 and mine ran 6.1.2.  Over the table both on my wifi I tried to call him on facetime and he tried to call me, in both cases it failed due to lost connection as previously discussed.  He said they had used it to call my brother in england yesterday with no issue.
I bit the bullet and decided with extreme reluctance to do the upgrade.  I did a full backup whilst downloading the update on my windows pc and after the sync I applied the update.  Luckily for apple's sake the facetime connection now works both ways but I'm still left with this hideously atrocious UI color scheme.  I can however report that i can see no noticable reduction in performance so far.  As per suggested on some sites I disabled automatic downloads & updates and tweaked the accessibility settings to "reduce motion" and "increase contrast" including enabling button shapes and reducing white point.  Everything seems to work fine and Thankfully I don'rt feel like I have a hobbled device.  Clearly something between 7.0 and 7.1.1 has brought iPad 2 back up to speed so to speak.
Oh and I still hate you Apple, cheers.

  • WRT610N V1 - Solution for not connecting iTunes to Apple TV

I have a solution for anyone with a WRT610N(V1)who is having problems (BTW this will work with V2 router also). I could not connect my iTunes to my apple TV, or it would appear fleetingly. Same problem using my iPad as a remote.
The issues you are having are to do with the firmware. Last year Cisco stopped performing firmware updates for version 1 (V1) of their router and fixed all your/my issues for their Version 2 router (V2) [Look on bottom of your router for version number - it is after the model number].
The fix, as obvious as it might be, is to load the V2 firmware on your V1 router.
Firstly go to the Cisco download page for the WRT610N router (http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/lbc/WRT610N/download)
Select Version 2.0 as your model (yes I know this is wrong and will make you sweat a little)
Download firmware upgrade to an easy to find location on your computer (I used desktop). You will now have downloaded file FWWRT610N_2.00.00.05_20090710code.bin.
Go to your router admin function (if you don't know, just type 192.168.1.1 into your browser) Default User ID is admin and leave password blank.
You will now see the Linksys router administrative application.
    Click on "Administration"
After you have done that you should see "Firmware Upgrade"
    Click on "Firmware Upgrade"
Select the file I mention earlier from the location to which you downloaded it.
Allow router to upgrade (you do not need to do anything to router once it is finished).
Go to apple TV and bask in the fact that you now have a fully functional apple TV with iTunes happily available.
I am sorry if these instructions are a little simplistic, but I wrote them trying to help anyone who is used to just opening a box and ignoring the manuals (like me!)
    Good luck and Merry Christmas

Solution for people who have linksys WRT610N. I hope you find this and it helps!

  • Facetime Connection Issues - Mountain Lion

I upgraded to Mountain Lion - Facetime worked - it didn't before on Lion.
Symptoms are Facetime rings and then just sits there 'connecting...'
Thought the upgrade to Mountain Lion solved the problem, but now it's back! Have turned Facetime on and off, changed email address, changed DNS, all to no avail.
    Can anybody offer any suggestions?
    TIA
    Andrew

I'm having the same issue with a mid 2007 iMac.  I've deleted all the plist for facetime, logged in and out a few times, turned facetime on and off a few times, and restarted the system.  So, everytime I've tried to make a facetime call the receiving party's computer facetime program doesn't come on.  Everytime someone calls me via facetime on my iMac, the call will ring but never picks up.  Also, the receiving party's computer is another imac with lion.  Any ideas.  Thanks.

  • Solution for AdvancedDatagrid scroll issue.

I am using an AdvancedDatagrid which uses a Datagrid as its itemrenderer. The rowCount of the renderer Datagrid is assigned as dataProvider.length. On expanding a particular row, if the datagrid has more than 20 records, am not able to view all the records of the renderer datagrid. This occurs because the scroll takes me to the next row of the AdvancedDatagrid instead of showing the remaining records of the expanded Datagrid. Am able to see all the records if the datagrid rowCount is set as 10 or 15, but my requirement is such that only the AdvancedDatagrid can have a scrollBar. The renderers inside should not have scrollBars. Please provide me a solution to fix this issue. My screen looks like the below image. The renderer datagrid is shown in red. It has 50 records. But on scrolling am not able to see them, instead taken to the next row of AdvancedDatagrid.

That's nice !!! Thanks for sharing this...
I believe that I can make it

  • FaceTime connection issues

I have a MBP, iPhone 4s, iPad 3, and iPad Mini. When I have an incoming FaceTime call, how do I choose which device the call is sent to/accepted by? I thought (today) of having each device accept for a single email address or phone number. I don't yet understand how FaceTime connections are made. I have the email address of a person I want to connect with FaceTime. That person's iPad (the only device) never receives the connection request. Is there a document or tutorial on connecting with multiple devices, et?
    Mike

    Hello there Mike,
Here is some information about FaceTime. The way FaceTime works is if you have multiple devices and they are all using the same Apple ID, then they will ALL get the request when somebody sends your Apple ID a request. Likewise, when you are sending a request to someone, it must be to their Apple ID or Cellular number. So to do what you mentioned, each device would have to be using its own Apple ID and thats not typically recommended as it can get very confusing.
This page tells you more about it and at the bottom shows how to set it up

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Solution manager Remote Connection issues

    Hi
I'm currently in the process of setting up Solution Manager 7.1 on windows Server 2008r2 using central system.
I did the prerequisite check & the Solman installation and i'm actuallly working on the post-installation steps.
I'm experiencing difficulty with the step : "Configure Remote Connection to SAP".
I followed the informations provided on :   http://service.sap.com/remoteconnection
In the technical prerequesite you have to set up a connection to sap support.
So i have to choose a connection type : I selected Internet connection so my first question is : do we need "VPN with SNC" or "VPN OR SNC" ?
I personnaly understood VPN or SNC.
So from here i decided to use SNC.
The first step was to set up & configure the SAProuter. I decided to do it on an another computer on the same domain ( not on the same computer where Solution Manager is installed ) but i'm not sure it is necesary
I assume I can install Saprouter on the same location as the Solution manager? do you recommend it ?
The Basic Functions testing with niping is working.
The next step is : "establish Internet Connections"
So now i can choose between SNC or VPN : my goal is to establish the connection as fast as possible.
I actually don't have a switch available ( i can get one if necesary but time is running ... ) so i'm opting for the SNC solution.
I tryed to get the certificate for the saprouter but i don't have a register SAProuter, but when i opened a customer messager for component  XX-SER-NET, SAP answered about the impossibility to access SAP service Backbone with an SNC , saying that i will need to register a VPN site to site connection to SAP => i don't get it .... Can someone explain it to me ?
So please can one of you guru's tell me how to set this remote connection :
    -which materials ( server / switch / firewalls ) ?
-where to get the right documentation ?
    -What about DMZ ?
-I have a single IP Address is that enough ? ( setting up nat for port  3299 )
    - do i have to contact a service provider ?
My idea was initially to set up the SAProuter on the same computer as the SOLMAN setup & use SNC communication  to communicate with SAP but it doesn't seems that easy. Do i need separate installation for Saprouter <=> Solution Manager. ?
What's the minimal infrastructure to establish this connection ?
In addition to that, after configuring the SAProuter, i had trouble with the SAPMMC : on my system , on the instance 0 , the process disp+work.EXE  won't run ( yellow light )and i can't find where i made a mistake if you have suggestions ...
Really need your help, i'm on a short deadline ... Any help, even incomplete, would be appreciated.
    Thanks a lot.

    Thx for the answer.
I actually managed to register my saprouter with SAP and was granted with CN/OU & connection informations.
I followed this guide : http://service.sap.com/saprouter-sncdoc  with the addition of this guide : http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/Basis/SAProuterviaSNC.
My first issue : I'm running with a Windows server 2008 r2 enterprise edition 64 bits with a processor Intel Xeon 2.4ghz ( dualcore). so i decided to use the crypto folder "nt-x86_64"
For the environment variable i set as System variables SECUDIR = C:\usr\sap\saprouter and SNC_LIB = C:\usr\sap\saprouter\nt-x86_64\sapcrypto.dll
The generation/install of the certificate is alright ( sapgenpse get_my_name -v -n Issuer is OK )
    using the command :saprouter -r -K "p:CN=mycn, OU=myOUnbr, OU=SAProuter, O=SAP, C=DE" i have
I get the following message :  trc file     dev_rout
                                                    no ligging active
Its strange cause it looks like its running but when i check the services running on windows saprouter isn't started .... How to know if SAProuter is running right ?
If i folow the SAP procedure : Step 3 : test of the ip connection by the customer : SAP Remote Services : technical preparation ( see SAP Note 812386 ) : it's ask in the note to implement note 766505 via SNOTE : i get the following error msg : Error in remote connection to destination SAPOSS : Error when opening an RFC connection ( LB: Hostname or service of the message server unknown#DEST = SA
    What's wrong ?
If i use T oss1 in parameter => technical setting => i set my saprouter info in SAProuter 1 ( at customer site ) with instance no. 99 and if SAProuter and SAPNet Message Server at SAP i put the following : Name : sapserv2 / IP Address 194.39.131.34 intance no. 99 and message server name oss001/ DB Name 001/ Instance no.01.
When trying to "Logon to SAPNet"  i have an error Unable to connect to SAPNet message server ( default connection will be used ... )
and followed by the error screen : "partner '80.15.173.168:sapdp99' not reached WSAECONNREFUSED : Connection refused. do you want to see the detailed error description ? "
    Details : module nixxi.cpp / line 3286 / Method : NipConnect2:80.15.173.168:3299 / Return code : -10 / System call : connect / Error No : 10061 / Error Text WSAECONNREFUSED: Connection refused / Counter : 10
    Any idea ?
    when doing niping.exe -c -H /H/mylocalSR/H/194.39.131.34/H/194/39.131.34 i obtain :
    Wed Dec 07 21:20:09 2011
    connect to server o.k
    Wed Dec 07 21:20:09 2011
send and receive 10 messages (len 1000)
    times -
    avg   122.148 ms
    max   193.731 ms
    min   81.564 ms
    tr 15.990 kB/s
    excluding max and min :
    av2   118.273 ms
    tr2   16.514 kB/s
Is it the expected output ?
I've maintained system data in service.sap.com/system-data ( selecting the sap router ) then i tryed to use the SAP service connection, downloaded the .exe but i can't find the stfk.oez. I realized that in my maintain connection screen i have no space for entering any routestring. Seems wrong ?
Do i have to use the SAO?
i've made nat redirection from my router as this : from my public ip to my lan ip ( 192.168.x.x) what should i enter in the routestring : /H/public or lan or hostname ?/S/3299 ?
Hoping you can help me ! ( the goal of all this is to set up RFC connection for postinst step of Solution manager ).

  • Need helps for remote connection issue

    Dear guys,
Today, I got a problem regarding remote connections. My Oracle stopped responding to remote connections. (tried to connect by sqlplus with service name, and sqlplus hung) Tnsping works. Local connection works (tried to connect by sqlplus without service name).
Have to stutdown by sqlplus and oracle did not respond. Shutdown the server (windows server 2003 standard edition), system stop responding (guess it was caused by oracle service). Had to shutdown by pushing the power button. After it restarts, everything come back to normal. No error is logged in alert log.
Any ideas regarding this issue? Many thanks.
    G.B.
Still studying this issue. Found an SQLNET.log in the %ORACLE_HOM%/NETWORK/LOG fould. It reads:
Fatal NI connect error 12638, connecting to:

    ns secondary err code: 0
    nt main err code: 0

    nt OS err code: 0
Seems it's related to authentication service issue. So, I just commented out SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS) from sqlnet.ora even my database functions well after restart. But I'm not sure if this is the solution and still wondering what's the root cause of this error.

    Hi there!
Modify the following entry in sqlnet.ora
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)
    to
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (beq,none)
    and you will be fine,

  • Please recommend solutions for  Cache Connect and ?

    ---> Solution I
2 servers create Cache Connect to RDBMS
    ---> Solution II
1 server create Cache Connect to RDBMS and create active standby pair with another server

    Hi,
If you only need READONLY caching in TimesTen and all updates will be made in Oracle then you have two main options:
    Multiple READONLY Caches
For this you have one or more separate TimesTen caches each with a READONLY cache group defined against the oracle DBMS. Each cache can cache different tables/data or they can can cache the same tables/data as required.
This architecture is very flexible (adding or removing TimesTen servers is very simple) and very scalable. It also provides very good HA; if one cache is down applications can just access a different cache.
However, due to the asynchronous, time based nature of the refresh from Oracle to Timesten at any moment in times the data in all the caches may not be 100% consistent with each other or Oracle.
By this I mean the following:
    - Assume that you have 2 (or more) READONLY caches caching the same data from Oracle, with an AUTOREFRESH interval of T1
    - At some time, T2, you update, in Oracle, one of the rows cached by the caches.
    - At some later time, T3, you query the updated row via both caches
If (T3 - T2) < T1 then the values returned by your query may differ between the caches (depending on where exactly they are in the autorefresh interval when the update is done).
Active/Standby pair using 2-SAFE replication with READONLY cache group and optional read-only subscribers
With this architecture you define a TimesTen Active/Standby replicated pair using 2-safe replication and containing the READONLY cache group. 'Scale out' is accomplished in one of three ways:
    1. Adding further A/S pairs with a READONLY cache group
    2. Adding read-only subscriber datastores to the original A/S pair
    3. A mixture of (1) and (2)
The main advantages of this architecture are as follows:
    1. When 2-Safe is used within the A/S pair, queries to either cache will always return consistent results (i.e. the consistency issue that I described for the first scenario does not exist in this configuration). However, threr can still be inconsitencies in results between the A/S pair and any readonly subscribers (since the replication to them is asynchronous) but given the high performance of TimesTen replication the latency between a change appearing at the A/S pair and the readonly subscribers will typically be a few ms rather than potentially several seconds for the multiple-cache scenario.
    2. The loading on the central Oracle DBMS arising from AuTOREFRESH processing is reduced compared to the multiple-cache scenario. The difference in loading between this solution and the multiple cache solution will be larger as more TT servers are deployed.
It should be noted that the operational management of this solution is a little more complex than for the first scenario since the A/S pair must be monitored and a 'failover' trigerred if there is some fauilure within the pair.
    Hope that helps a little.
    Chris

  • Facetime connection issue

I am unable to connect to my FaceTime calls incoming & outgoing I turned on and off the FaceTime App I checked my internet connect connection and paired with other networks to make sure it wasn't my wifi connection preventing me from FaceTime calls and  i updated my iphone4 software(7.1.2)I also made sure that the person(s) I was attempting to FaceTime  updated their software as well and i still cant connect to facetime help please!!!! what should I do, I have an appointment with apple later in the week for next week but I really don't want to go into the store if I don't have too can someone be so kind and help me pleaseeeeeeee!!!!!! Thanks

I didn't mean to hit that button please continue to help me lol that didn't solve my issue
& is there a way to take off that my issue was resolved?

  • 10.6.2 Still no fix for SMB connection issues

Sorry folks 10.6.2 has not resolved the issue with connecting to a Windows(yuck) server using SMV where the share has multiple mapped drives. Seems to work fine for connecting to a single shared drive where it did not before but multiple drives still a no no.
    Roll on 10.6.3!

    Hi Direwolf8
It's the same issue that most people are having in a number of other threads.
Basically in the Finder if you select a network drive (or in the printers dialog windows shared printer) that has a number of named shares in it you can only connect to it once. For example:
We have a file print server - called FP. On FP are a number of mapped drives. (Databases, General, Departments etc). In the list of Shared locations (left column of any Finder Window) if I select FP and the drive I want it connects and lets me view the files. However if I close this Window or try to connect to another shared drive it times out and doesn't even show a list of the shared drives on the FP.
The only work around is to use: go/connect to server and then smb://ip_address:139 (from http://www.macwindows.com/snowleopard-filesharing.html#090209d ) However in this work around you have to select ALL the drives you may wish to connect to and have them mounted on your desktop. If you close the connection or want to connect to a different share it times out. Leaving you needing to restart.
The other work around touted of using a fully numeric password is not an option (according to our IT department)
It's the same with network printers. You connect to the server with the printers on it and set up a printer. If you want to add another printer on the same server you have to restart to get it to show the list again.
I know its not a server set up issue as I have 3 Leopard Macs (10.5.8) running and connecting fine. Its defo a Snow Leopard thing.
I was really hoping this issue would go away with 10.6.2 but denied!
If anyone has got this working PLEASE post your solution here. Its the only thing stopping me from Upgrading my Mac Pro to Snow Leopard!
Appreciate any help anyone can offer on this!

  • I am going to get a replacement for my iphone 5C, for data connection issues. Can I get an 5S, instead of antother 5C as a replacement?

Hello, I have been having issues with my iPhone 5C for about a month now. I have unlimited everything, including data, & so randomly, starting about 2 weeks ago, my data basically does not work for any apps, besides like iMessage & Safari. So like if I have full LTE signal, I can try to open the Instagram app, and it will tell me "no internet connection", & it tells me that with ANY app, besides iMessage & Safari. Which is super frustrating, especially when I try to use like Maps or something & it jut does not load, & tells me that "there is not an internet connection", so I have to use apps & stuff only on wifi, in order for them to work. I went to the Sprint store, and had them try and update the data profile, reset data network, soft reset, etc (they basically did everything that I did), & they could NOT figure out what was wrong with my phone. So, they looked into my warranty information, and told me to take my phone to the Apple Store, and just get a replacement & that it would cost me only $50, since it is still covered under warranty. I am not up for an upgrade until April of 2016, & as far as I know, when it comes to replacements, Apple will either give me a new/refurbished iPhone 5C as a replacement. I don't really mind having to pay a little extra if I have to, in order to get a 5S , & I also don't care if the 5S would be either new or refurbished. So, my question is, could I maybe get a 5S as a replacement, instead of another 5C?

  • A POSSIBLE FIX FOR RE1000 CONNECTION ISSUES!

My Amazon Review for the Linksys RE1000:
I have been an Amazon customer for several years and this is my first review ever. I'm only taking the time to post this review due to my utter frustration with this product.
Here are the bullet points of my experience.
    1) I consider myself to be extremely tech savvy and pride myself on having the patience to eventually get technology to work.
    2) I have purchased two of these units. I returned the first one out of frustration (also wanted to rule out a defective unit) and spent countless hours trying to make the second one work. As many reviewers have stated this unit constantly drops the router/internet connection. Mine never lasted for more than two minutes at best. It just constantly cycled the connection on and off over and over again.
    3) Linksys Tech Support is provided by foreign nations and proved totally worthless.
    4) I literally tried every tech suggestion I could find online via Google. I did my best to leave no stone unturned assuming somewhere there had to be an answer. If you can find a suggestion online, believe me, I tried it.
    5) After 6 hours with my second unit, VICTORY! Through a rigorous trial and error process I FINALLY GOT MY UNIT TO WORK!!!
    6) My solution (not sure if it's going to be everyone's): 1 - Flash the unit with the most updated firmware via the support site (using an Ethernet cable). 2 - Download the auto setup program from the Linksys website and run it following all the instructions. 3 - Here's the MAGIC TRICK that worked for me. Once you have it set up and running you are free to change any setting in the firmware EXCEPT "WPS" under "Wi-Fi Protected Setup" which is under "Basic Wireless Settings". I REPEAT in the "Wi-Fi Protected Setup" under "Basic Wireless Settings", "WPS" must REMAIN ENABLED and LEFT SET AS IT IS during the auto setup. 4 - Use a static IP address and 20 Mhz only for channel width to ensure a stable connection and to minimize wireless interference. 5 - Verify the proper strength and quality of the signal under "WLAN Statistics" and reposition the unit (and/or change the router channel) as necessary.
    7) I have TESTED this multiple times, turning the WPS on and off repeatedly. My connection drops or stays active based ONLY upon this setting (even after plugging and unplugging the unit from the electrical socket). I can literally set my watch by it. No other setting has this negative effect and I've changed them all.
    8) I suspect half of the reviews are positive regarding this unit because many are simply using the auto setup successfully and then leaving their settings untouched. Unwittingly touch the wrong setting (WPS) and you're back to square one with a useless gray box.
    9) This unit has the potential to be an excellent product, instead it's a nightmare to deal with. My guess is it's a victim of lousy firmware and lousy quality control via Linksys. The shame is it could probably be quickly fixed with a simple firmware update.
    10) I hope this review helps others with their frustrations. I'd be curious to know.

PS: One last tip! If you really want to play it safe, be sure set your router's LAN IP address to anything other than 192.168.1.1 (use 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.107.1 for example). That is the default address for the RE1000 and it's been known to cause an IP conflict with many routers that use the same default IP address. Apparently changing the static IP address on the RE1000 is not enough, as the default IP address of 192.168.1.1 still adheres to the RE1000 (hidden somehow) even after the fact for some unknown reason.
