  • Ipod disconnects itself from computer

I've had my ipod for two years now but i haven't used it for over a year. My ipod would overheat when I went walking and three quarters of my songs either wouldn't play or would freeze halfway through. So i stopped using it and finally i dragged it out again this year (I got it xmas '04). I deleted everything on it and started from scratch, redoing everything on my computer BUT whenever I plug it in, the ipod takes 15mins on the DO NOT DISCONNECT screen then just appears with an apple. when the apple appears my computer then says that I need to reformat my ipod but I can't because it disconnects itself and then my computer says I need to plug in my ipod when it is plugged in! Can anyone offer any solutions on this as I would like to start using my ipod again.....The battery charges fine and it works but I can't put any music on it because of the above difficulties.

It seems like your iPods dead; they're really is hardly anything you can do to fix it.

  • Ipod disconnects itself

hi guys, my i-pod mini 'disconnects' itself from the PC. i plug it in the USB, it says 'Do Not Disconnect' as expected, then after a few moments, it sort of disconnects itself - the PC can't see the i-pod anymore and the i-pod is already displaying the main menu...
how does one solve this? i read about reformatting the i-pod, but i think the i-pod has to stay connected to the PC if i'll run the software update, is this correct? so that's not an option for me i think...
    thank you in advance!

  • IPod disconnecting itself.

I've been using my ipod as a portable hard drive for quite sometime now. I use it on my work pc and on my home pc with very few problems (or at least, no problems I haven't been able to solve myself yet).
This morning I hooked up the ipod to the pc at work as per usual and everything seemed fine. Then when I went to access the ipod in My Computer it wasn't there. I've had things similar to that happen before so I just disconnected and reconnected it. Everything worked fine for about 1 minute then in the middle of moving a file it just disconnected itself. Whenever I connect it to the pc it will disconnect itself in about a minute. It definitely connects because I can see it in iTunes and in My Computer.
It shows up in iTunes and stays there until I try to access some settings. I can't Restore it because it disconnects in the middle of the Restore. I've tried rebooting the ipod, the machine, restoring the ipod...none of it works.
I'm in the process of reinstalling iTunes to see if that solves the problem.
Through all of this the ipod still works perfectly fine as an ipod. I just can't hook it up to the pc at all to update it. I have a sneaking suspicion that it's disconnecting itself as soon as iTunes is finished with its initial update that occurs as soon as you hook up the iPod but I haven't confirmed that yet.

take it to a apple store, the hard drive is going. I had this problem and when i took it to the apple store, they replaced it with a new one.

What is the exact Cisco solution for this FXO disconnect problem? I have read and applied some Netpro tips for similar case but none could help.
Can we have Cisco expert explain this??

  • IPod disconnects itself and not recognized by itunes or Mac

I've recently had issues when trying to connect my ipod to my mac. When connected it appears to be loading onto desktop and itunes. itunes briefly says "verifying ipod" then it is abruptly disconnected. Because I am unable to connect to itunes, I can't restore the ipod. I've tried everything else. I am going to try and find another computer and see if it will recognize it, but I'm not sure I can. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, did restoring the ipod resolve it or did something else?
This may be a coincidence, but I haven't connected my ipod since the latest itunes 10.1 update. May not be related, but thought it was worth mentioning.

    Welcome to the discussions,
Did you try to use another USB cable or check the docking port for debris or lint?
I don't think 10.1 is tghe problem, I just synced my 5GiPod and had no problems.
Did you make sure it is charged before you connect?

  • My Solution for iPod Touch 3rdGen not recognized as device in iTunes

Ok, I tried everything I could, all the recomended solutions including removing itunes completely and re-installing, and nothing worked.  My iPod is recognized on another computer so I figured it to be my computer's setup... or a problem with iTunes.  In desperation I searched on line (google) and found iTunes 9.0.  I removed iTunes completely, re-booted and installed 9.0 and suddenly it worked... sort of...  The iPod Touch needs 10.5 or greater to work... so INSTEAD of removing iTunes 9.0, I did an upgrade to 10.6.1 from within iTunes and when I plugged my iPod back in... IT WORKED !!!!  I figure there was something not quite right about the fresh install from the Apple website, but the upgrade went perfectly.  I can speculate on what it was... I think the upgrade does not remove all the older files but only installs some of the components since it did NOT need to be re-booted after the live upgrade to 10.6.1....  Anyway... After 3 days of pulling my hair out, I'm SOOOOOOOoooooooo happy!!!!!!!!

    So you tried eveything here:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    Did yu already try:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    or

  • Solution for ipod video. Worked for me

I have had similar problems as others on this forum. Plugged in my new ipod and it froze. Reset it, followed the 5 R's. Nothing seemed to work. Except that I only removed the itunes software not the ipod software. I uninstalled everything and reloaded everything and it worked fine.

    worked for me too

  • My solution for ipod wont connect to wifi

my ipod touch wouldnt connect, took back to store received new one ,still wouldnt, went to apple store it connected to apple wifi, called router mfg up,i had to go into settins an change the channel it was using i was on channel 10 was advised to either us channel 6 or 11,i hav muliply devices using home wifi, they all worked except my ipod,i was told problem was probably some kind of interference ,everything working fine now,try this hope it works for you too

do this http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398. if for some reason it does not work try another connection. if the other connection is fine nothing is wrong with ipod (it is the router) but if your ipod does not connect to any wifi then you have to try restore as new (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414) but dont forgot to backup (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766). if your ipod still cant connect to ANY wifi then you need a repair and contact apple or an repair shop.

  • SOLUTION FOR IPODS THAT WONT SYNC ON WINDOWS

For all people who got their new ipod classics (80 or 160 gig) and right when they brought them home and plugged them in got error messages with numbers(48, 69, 53, etc) or error messages about not being able to copy disc...
you probably have corrupted files that Crapple cant handle because they havent got that far yet since they dont care about their customers...
go to your start menu (make sure your computer user is set to administrator)
    click all programs
    go to accessories
    go to system tools
    run disc cleanup
when that is done, run disc defragmenter.
once that is done, plug your ipod in and sync. it worked for me.
hope it works for everyone else!!!!

Well I for one certainly think it's apples problem that itunes and quicktime cannot read these so called corrupted files when every other player known to man can read them!
Even the nokia movie player reads the files that itunes will not entertain and that quicktime says has "a bad movie atom".
I also think apple have a problem when they try to solve my problems by telling me I need to buy quicktime pro to convert the files, Which I do only to find that quicktime pro and itunes both crash my computer every time I try to convert.
Were apple aware of these problems when they sold me the equipment, YES!
Have apple given me any advice that doen't involve buying yet more faulty equipment? NO!

  • My ipod disconnects itself randomly

When i plug in my ipod on any computer it registers fine and the icons come up in My Computer but then if i click on it it just disconnects.
Sometimes it disconnects before ive clicked on it sometimes it disconnects after about 2 minutes.
Is there anyway of fixing this without reinstalling everything?

THis is normal, When the iPod is set to "Auto Update" it will only be listed in "My COmputer" when iTUnes is updating/syncing it, once the update is done, it will no longer be listed.

  • Solution for Ipod not beeing recognized by iTunes

Since 2 months or so I tried to figure out why my iPOD nano (2nd gen) isn't recognized by iTunes. And today I found the simple answer: Windows gave it the Driveletter B: when I changed it manually to R: (I have a lot of drives) it was suddenly recognized. It seems iTunes doesn't recognize devices with the old two Floppy-drive Letter A: and B:. So If your Ipod isn't recognized by your iTunes check if it got the wrong drive-letter.

do you know how to reset it? if you do then do that, when you see the apple logo hold the "select key" (the circle in the middle) and the "play/pause" button--> then connect it to your MAC or PC.

  • Nano automatically disconnects itself

after plugging in the second device nano the box shows update is complete and ok to disconnect. Then the NANO automatically goes from the do not disconnect screen to the main menu to the charged icon. Why could this possibly happen????

this is well and good, but how is one supposed to change this when you only get about half a second before the ipod disconnects itself? . nvm just figured it out, if i change my playlist that is autoupdating, shoulnt i get some time to change the setting?

  • IPod Classic immediately disconnects itself

I have owned my iPod for not even a year, and I have not done anything to it to cause disruption or error or anything of the sort. Yet when I plug it into my Macbook to sync (or any other iMac or Macbook, checked with multiple cords as well), it will immediately disconnect itself. It is not recognised by my computer, iTunes does not automatically open, it does not charge and I am unable to even reset it to factory settings as I can't access it at all. I am rather frustrated that this is happening to a new device. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hey DaDann,
Thanks for the question, that definitely sounds frustrating. The following resource(s) outlines relevant troubleshooting for this issue, it may provide a solution based on your operating system:

    hiya!
okay, since you've got a Toshiba laptop, let's check to see if you can get it to sync properly if the highspeed interfaces are disabled. (let's not try a restore just at the moment.)
