Solution for port monitoring

hello everybody,
we have 2 core 3550 12-G switch. the desktop switch a connected via gigainterface to the core switches. so, i will monitoring all the traffic in the vlans, what can i do? i have only one monitoring port on my 4210 ips. its a good solution when i make one monitor session on the first core switch and one monitor session on the second core switch. the sourceports for example: range giga 0/1 to giga 0/8 the destinaton port giga 0/10. on the destination port i plug a cable to a hub. from the second destination port on the other core switch i plug the cable to the same hub, so i can take one cable to the monitor interface on the ips from the hub.
many thanks for an answer...

I see a lot of problems with your idea.
1) Do you have a hub with 1 Gb ports???
2) You probably will create a loop conecting both switches
3) STP will be blocking the ports
4) Should be there a lot of collision
etc.
I suggest you use your sensor to monitor only one port.

  • Best solution for 2+ monitors CS6

After reading discussions about the flaws of external hardware (matrox, BM, AJA) - or at least the drivers needed, I want to find the right solution for using two computer monitors for my Workspaces and a third (HDMI or HD SDI) output for a 37-inch program monitor (not broadcast, but decent Panansonic LED). I have been reading tons of specs and posts... what is best? I am planning a new CS6 workstation
         1. Dual Quadro 4000s
         2. Dual GTX 570s or 680s
         3. some new idea??
Why can't Nvidia make all three ports active on the Quadros?
Wishing Adobe would post more than just minimum specs, but some kind of details on levels of workstations based on types of workflows...
    Thanks,
    Diane
PS I've been using a $50 HP USB signal splitter on CS5 for a couple of months - it's been great - allowing me to spread my Workspace across two monitors with HDMI to the panny monitor. But that can't really be The Solution, can it?!?

GTX 670/680 cards support up to 4 monitors. Dual cards are not supported, nor is there a need for with the Kepler range of cards. Well, a bit more detail, you can install two cards if they use the same driver, but only one will be used by PR and the other only for steering monitors and that is a bit expensive with Quadros or the GTX 570/580, when a single 670/680 does the same job at much lesser cost and with better performance on most systems.

    Hi,
The underlying technology comes from Displaylink. Most, if not all, of the USB to video solutions are based on their chips. See:
    Displaylink
I have two different Displaylink based devices, both USB 2.0. They work great with the w520, even when running full screen video at 1920 x 1200.
Perhaps I would prefer USB 3.0 which is coming out now. Of course the downside of USB 3 is that the mini-dock doesn't support it. I use my third monitor mostly for text, so USB 2 is just fine, and stays plugged in to the mini-dock always.

  • Solution for Usage Monitoring ??

    Hey All!
We are in need of a solution which can provide us with detailed analysis of SAP users performance in our Production system. The situation is that we need to have a control over our licensing cost and monitor the usage that our end users are performing on Production client.
So If anybody is aware of any such standard or third party solution then i would really like to know which one.

  • Solutions for porting JVM on STB

    hello, everyone,
I'm trying to port a JVM to my STB(Set Top Box), and I've tried the project named PhoneMe Feature but failed. I wonder is there any better solutions than it. I need a JVM which based on the profile MIDP 2.0 as well as supporting some other JSRs. I will appreciate it very much if anyone can offer any valuable information, such as a better JVM project or how to solve the problems mentioned in click here.
I'm a college student and this is very important for my job, thanks very much.

  • One more solution for Silent Monitoring Windows 7 64-Bit - ERROR VOIP2037 Unable to open the NIC adapter for sniffing.

    Hi,
we are using UCCX 8.5 SU3.
After replacing the actual agent workstations with Windows 7 64-bit we had to face problems with the silent monitoring. (no sound at all and in the CSD the usual error popup "Silent Monitor-Session failed...").
In the CAD logfile I found the errorcode. "ERROR VOIP2037 Unable to open the NIC adapter for sniffing. Please reconfigure the installation."
After investigating the logfiles, starting postinstall.exe a hundred times and reading the Configuring and Troubleshooting VoIP Monitoring Guide.
I just learnt about the wonderful tool nicq.exe.
And so i found out that the driver spcd.sys wasn't installed.
Check in the registry for "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\SPCD"
It seems to me that the "Cisco Supervisor Desktop.msi" never installs the driver one a Windows 7 64-bit.
After starting the NICQ.EXE as administrator the driver is being installed.
    Test 1: Check Driver Status
Driver not installed. Attempting to install it...
Driver has now been successfully installed.
SPCD Driver service is not running. Attempting to start it...
SPCD Driver service is now running.
    Test 1: SUCCESS
And after that the silent monitoring works again like a charm.
    Maybe that info help someone.
    kind regards, sebastian

Excellent information, this has been driving me crazy for a while now.  Once i saw this info I was able to get it resolved rather quickly.
+5 for you, (I tried to click it above but it would not let me.)

  • Most cost effective solution for HD monitoring

MXO box to display, Deck Link through HDMI or simple steal a professional HD monitor and face the consequences. Too many options? any suggestions?
    Much Thanks, Matt

Practically in use everyday for the past 2 years with the MXO. I use an MXO2 for editing on the road with my Macbook Pro (producer makes sure I'm booked in hotels with HDMI Flatscreens).
I also use the Blackmagic Intensity Pro for inexpensive HD monitoring. The card is cheaper than the TV I use to monitor.
    best to you

  • Best Solution for 3 Monitors

I want to plug in an extra monitor to my 2 monitors.
I already have one Ati x1900.
Any configurations and video cards that you suggest?

You're spamming the forum with redundant threads.
We are just users and this is for trying to solve problems. Most people will bend over backwards here, if it is something like how to resolve or troubleshooting hardware and software.
    Get 7300GT probably.
Run Apple Hardware Test to check out your system.
Make sure you have a 1500VA UPS and it is on a dedicate circuit (at least not shared with anything heavy).
AppleCare and Customer Service - can't help there. And Apple doesn't hang out here.

  • W530 – Solution for lack of eSATAp port

    Hi All,
When I was analyzing laptop specifications to buy a new one, I was disappointed because I have some external eSATA disks, and there were no eSATAp connector on any W530 model. Anyway, I brought one and I can assure you it is a solid and great machine.
Meanwhile I found a good and almost inexpensive solution for this problem. It is a small adapter from Addonics that connects to USB 3.0 port and converts to an eSATAp port. (Since I live in Portugal to avoid customs costs I got mine from Aimtec (UK)).
I measure transfers of 120 MB/s with my 2,5” external disk and so far I am totally satisfied with this solution. To avoid mechanical stress in the laptop port, I suggest using an small USB3.0 extension cable (15 cm) instead of connecting directly the adapter to the computer.
(NOTE: I have no comercial interest or own any stock options on the referred companies. My only purpose is to share with other members this workaround since Lenovo dropped the support of eSATAp ports on W530 model).

    Dear sophware,
I don't think this Sonnet adapter supplies power to the external drive. It is eSATA not eSATAp. In this case it is necessary to connect another cable to an USB port to supply power to the external disk.
In my own opinion I think it is better to have an external adapter than an internal one:
    a) If outside, the heat it generates will be dissipated in the air while the heat generated by the internal adapter will be added to the one already inside and generated by the CPU, graphics etc..
    b) Call me a too much careful person, but in case of internal adapter problem or short circuit, I prefer it occurs outside my machine. The electrical isolation is greater in a USB port than in the ExpressCard/34 Bus. Any electric pick or static discharge and the motherboard internal bus buffers may be damage.
These are the reasons why I choose an external adapter.
    Best regards,
    A.Nuno

  • Solutions for previewing HDV via video monitors ?

I have recently been given the task of setting up a video editing suite combining:
    FCP6
    HVR-1500 decks
    Panasonic BT-LH1700WE LCD video monitors
    FX7E HDV cameras
I've read that it is not possible to preview HDV via firewire and this seems to be the case thus rendering the Video preview monitors useless via the decks at least.
My question is what would we need to get in order to get a live broadcast preview to the monitors ?
    Many thanks in advance.

Ok so i've done a little research and it seems like The Matrox MXO would be the best solution for our needs.
Does anybody have any experiance with this or a similar output device ?

  • CCMS is used for system monitoring , why should we use solution manage ?

CCMS is used for system monitoring , why should we use solution manage ?
Whats the relationship between CCMS system and SolMan?
    Thank you .

    hi,
I just want to ask a question. At our client we have solution manager and CCMS. There is data in CCMS I can extract, it is loading on BW side ok the same number of recs,  but the problem on CCMS cubes says there are the same number of record in the cube and also showing as the data is ready for the reporting. But when I run the report and view the data as listcube it is empty.
ANy of you have the situation like this cube say it has the data but when do th BEX or infocube contents the cube is empty nothing in there. The same thing is happening with hourly, 15 minute and daily cubes.
Anyhelp on this matter is appreciated

  • Solution for worn mini-USB port? (charging connection unreliable)

I thought my battery was going bad, but just realized that my mini-USB port is apprently worn. When I plug in either my automobile cigarette lighter charger, or my regular plug-in charger, the charging connection is not reliable. Unless I position everything just right, the charging connection isn't made.
Has anyone else experienced this issue -- and hopefully found a solution for it (short of replacing the whole BlackBerry)?
    TIA

A specialized small electronics repair house in your town might tackle it... takes a bit of soldering in the new one.
It's nothing something I would do myself unless that is your expertise.

  • Solution for monitor power supply and raid 5 on x4150 server

    Hi everybody,
    a simple question :
my compagny have some server SunFire x4150 in some Datacenter, and there is a thing that we cannot really monitored remotly : the status of the 2 power supply and the status of the raid 5 of the server.
(i want to know if a power is down or if a disk is "dead")
We are using Nagios, cacti and munin actually, so can we use these interfaces for that?
if the answer is no, a script can be developed , if only i knew the command that can be used to take informations from the state of the raid5, i'll comunicate later the type of the raid card.
what are the best solutions availables for monitor those things?
    thanks by advance

We have some x4150s but they're running Linux. There are separate solutions for each of the 2 problems.
    1. For the power supplies, you can use the ELOM/ILOM system management interface (also used for monitoring the fans and temperature). If you've got it configured and connected to the network, you can set it up to email you about any events. We have the older ELOM firmware running, which includes the ability to add some actions to take in response to specific events. The new and supposedly better ILOM firmware doesn't seem to include this. Since this is IPMI compatible you can probably also hook into this using ipmitool or SNMP tools.
    2. For the RAID card, assuming it's the standard Adaptec (rebranded as StorageTek) controller, you can install and use StorMan software (it's on the tools & drivers CD if not pre-installed). Once again you can configure email notification from the StorMan GUI, but this time it relies on OS host services to do the mail forwarding via the host NIC.
I'm not familiar with the details of your network system admin tools, but hopefully these tips will provide pointers on what hooks are available for these tools to tie into. Presumably there's also Sun N1 management software which can probably do this in a more built-in way, but it sounds like you've already got more than enough management tools.
