Solution for Syncing on Outlook Exchange Server

At my workplace we have Outlook 2003 running on an Exchange Server. Here are the symptoms I was getting:
1. Calendar events would sync from iPhone to Outlook, but not from Outlook to iPhone.
2. Sync process would be interrupted by an ApplieMobileSync.exe "exception unknown software exception (0xc00000fd) occurred at ... ". Watching in Task Manager, I noted that this happened whenever the memory usage for that program hit about 150MB.
I tried many of the currently-posted solutions, such as removing recurring appointments, creating a new calendar, downrevving iTunes, etc. to no avail.
HERE IS WHAT WORKED: SET THE "APPLE MOBILE DEVICE" SERVICE TO RUN WITH YOUR NETWORK CREDENTIALS INSTEAD OF USING LOCAL SYSTEM ACCOUNT. This is becuase on an Exchange Server, the calendar really lives on the network server, not on your local machine.
HOW-TO:
1. Go into Computer Management (in XP, right-click on My Computer, select Manage, open Services and Applications, and choose Services.
2. In the list of services, right-click on the Apple Mobile Device service and select Properties. In the Log On tab, select the radio button for "This Account" and enter your network credentials, with your full account name (ex. domain\username) and password.
3. Restart the service and iTunes. Then try syncing.
I realize this is pretty technical for some users and in some companies you might not even have the right to edit services on your PC. Plus, any time your network requires you to change passwords, you'll have to go into this service an update your credentials. Given these caveats, I consider this more of a WORK-AROUND than a complete SOLUTION, and believe Apple should come up with a way to automatically set up this service in Exchange environments.

  • Solution for syncing iCal with Exchange2003

After two days searching and struggling, I finally have found a solution to sync iCal with Exchange 2003. Outlook 2011 for the Mac connected to an older Exchange 2003 server, gives imap email functionality, but no support for syncing calendars or address books. With DavMail running as gateway on your Mac, you can sync not only iCal, but also calendars on mobile devices such as iPhone and iPad.
Here I wrote how I did it: http://www.zweerscreatives.nl/?p=372

    Dennis,
You can try a work around that allows you to sync tasks and contacts to outlook using an alternate profile in outlook.
Create a new 'dummy' profile (ie CRMOD) in Outlook. You will need to make up a fake email server settings or base it on the IMAP connection to Beehive.
Once you have created the dummy profile, add the .pst data file to your normal Beehive Profile, this will allow you to access the tasks, calendar and contacts in the CRMOD profile.
In the PIM Sync setup select your 'dummy' profile as the outlook profile to sync.
Your users will have two contact, task and calendar folders on thier outlook desktop, but some folks prefer to separate their contact files and tasks anyway. Outlook will display a unified set of tasks if you view 'To-Do List'
Make sure to check the 'Show this folder as an email address book' in the contact folder properties.
Hope this helps while you wait for the enhancement!

  • Updated to 10.6.3, can no longer sync iCal with Exchange Server

My syncing with our exchange server used to work fine. I updated my 3 Macs and now they all have the same issue. They will not sync with the server and they all show 4 notifications that have not yet been responded to. When I view the notifications, they are all for old entries. I accept all 4, but doesn't seem to work - still shows iCal offline. Anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions? I tried removing the calendars cache file and plist files.

I spent an hour on the phone with Apple today, got elevated to an engineer AND talked to a Server Guy at my University.
The cause is still unclear, but the remedy has become painfully clear. To have a working copy of iCal, Mail, and AddressBook, one needs to remove all three accounts from the three client apps, and restart from Mail. This approach is the only way to preserve correct links among the three client apps.
I got iCal working temporarily by deleting my Exchange account and rebuilding it. The problem is that by rebuilding an iCal account, it created duplicate accounts in Mail and AddressBook. Also, the Apple apps autodiscovered slightly different server names, which caused problems sending me and I was getting duplicate email messages as well as contacts and calendar events. I deleted the redundant mail and contact accounts, but continued to have problems with sending mail and I lost my ToDos in Mail. So, I bit the bullet and have blitzed all my exchange accounts on my MBP and am waiting for it to repopulate the 5+ GB of data. Then tomorrow, I will do the same on my iMac.
    Sheesh!

  • Can iPhone sync with outlook exchange

Can iphone sync with Outlook Exchange for business?

Outlook, or Exchange? There is no "Outlook Exchange".

  • Mail receives OK but will not send for smtp account.  Exchange server receives/sends OK

mail receives OK but will not send for smtp account.  Exchange server receives/sends OK  I'm away from home, using a family-member's wireless network that has always worked OK in the past.  Today, the same problem occured while waiting in a hospital waiting lounge.  Any ideas?

The outgoing mail server may be rejecting mail from your network address. Typically that happens when your mail service provider is also your ISP, and you connect to it from another network. The SMTP server will allow connections without a password from anywhere, but it will only relay mail from within the ISP's network. It could also be that your account on the server has expired or been suspended.
If you need to send mail from outside your ISP's network, use an independent mail service provider. I don't have a specific recommendation.

  • Connecting to Outlook Exchange Server

I cannot connect to my Outlook exchange server on my iMac, although there was no problem with my iPad.  Can you help me?

    Hi NotSoKlear:
Please be kind enough to advise the folllowing:
    1) Are you on a Mac ?
    2) Is it Hosted Exchange such as CloudWire
    3) Try unchecking the SSL through your email client settings and try again.
Let me know if that works.

  • Sync iPhone with work Outlook (Exchange Server) and home Outlook

    Hi all,
I love my new iPhone 3G!
There is just one main thing remaining that I need it to do in order to fully replace my previous Windows Mobile phone functionality:
I need it to keep my work Outlook's contacts and calendars synchronized with my home Outlook (Outlook 2003 on Windows XP PC). Note: I do not want separate sets of work and personal contacts and/or calendar items, since I want all contacts and calendar items in both systems (differentiate by the Outlook category field).
With my previous Windows Mobile phone, it would sync with my work Exchange account (via wireless ActiveSync), and then resolve this with my local/home PC's Outlook when connected to my PC (using the local version of ActiveSync). When done, any contact or calendar change made at work, on my phone, or on my home PC would eventually be synchronized with all 3 systems (i.e., phone, work Outlook, and home Outlook).
The new iPhone 3G first beautifully sync'd to my local/home Outlook with iTunes 7.7. Then, when I configured my work Exchange ActiveSync with contacts and calendar sync on, it unfortunately cleared those sync'd items. Now the iPhone is beautifully sync'd with my work Outlook via Exchange ActiveSync, but iTunes will no longer allow my local sync. Thus, any changes at work or on the iPhone are not reflected at home
I researched this a little, and I see that the Apple MobileMe service may be able to help me. Can anyone tell me if it will allow me to sync the exact same items with my local Outlook, the iPhone, and directly/indirectly with my work Outlook (via Exchange ActiveSync)?
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve

I'm excited to finally sync my work email with my iPhone. Our IT didn't support it and we work off of an Exchange server. I, too, was nervous about which contacts to sync. While I want my work email, I don't need my contacts and would rather have mine from my mac at home. Unfortunately, you can only do one at a time. The following paragraph is from a c net review. Find the entire article here (the part about the Exchange Server is about 1/2 way down):
    http://reviews.cnet.com/apple-iphone-3g/
//Once you're ready to go, the iPhone will sync your Outlook e-mail, contacts, and calendar. Be advised that while the iPhone can support multiple POP3 accounts at once (two Yahoo accounts, for instance), it syncs with only one Exchange server and, worse, with only with one calendar or contacts list at a time. If you have a separate personal calendar, your work calendar will replace it once you start the sync. (You'll be notified before it happens.)//
    Hope this helps!

  • Emails for Current Day are not sync with Microsoft Exchange server

I have bought a Z1 and configured my microsoft exchange server email on it. All is working well. However it is only showing emails till yesterday. I have tried all sync settings including automatic, all, one day and all others but still it is not showing emails for current day. I have also tried all sort options but still no improvement.
The same setting are working perfectly fine on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2. What is the issue and how to fix it? Please make sure i have purchased a new phone and would use the stock email app and no third party email app.
Already there is a downgrade in Z1 stock email app. It is not supporting formatted signatures and formatted outgoing emails. Which is now very common on all phones of its price and class.
What is Sony doing on its phones? i do not understand.
Please let me know how to fix my issue of most recent emails sync.

  • I am getting sync problems with Exchange Server and local outlook. Error code is 18439. Does anybody have an idea what the problem might be?

I am using Outlook on my Imac, which is linked to the Windows Exchange Server. All off a sudden I keep receiving messages saying that the message Re: xxxx cannot be synchronized with the exchange server. When I delete the message from my local mail box, all is fine, but after a while another one pops up. The error code is 18493. Does anyone have an idea what could be going wrong???
Thanks for your help already now!

    Hello Wolfgang,
I get the same error, but I cannot figure it out too. I hope you or I get some responses back! I do not know why there isnt an edit feature in outlook to acknowledge the individual alarm so it does not alarm again!

  • How can I back up Contacts synced from an Exchange server into iCloud?

Hi everybody. I would like to back up into iCloud my Contact (and Calendars too) which I have  previously synced to the device ( that is an iPad air running iOS 8.2.1) from an Exchange server. The green flags in Settings / ICloud are duly switched on but no contact will appear under Groups/all iCloud. Is this feature feasible at all or is there something missing in the procedure I follow ? I'll appreciate any clues. Piero

Hi Brendan. Thanks for your clue but unfortunately that did not solve the problem. Prior to posting my query I had already checked out the article you're referring me to (whose URL is http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3605). It may well be that I'm not being crystal clear owing to my far from perfect English but the whole point is precisely that I'm not able to import contacts  which ALREADY appear on my iPad - being the outcome of syncing my remote MS Exchange account with the device - into iCloud. The procedure described in the quoted article simply doesn't work (for that matter, no such Setting sign pops up under ICloud contacts). In fact, it appears that the only contacts which I'm able to keep under iCloud are those which I directly create from scratch within iCloud Group itself. Since I'm likely to have my MS outlook account  ( which is mirrored into a MS Exchange one for remote usage) forcibly deleted in one month time or so, I started  worrying about how to keep my contacts alive/ intact after that deletion. Hope the issue got clearer now ... Cheers, Piero.

  • Is there a way to sync Pre-MS Exchange Server 2007 (Service Pack 1) Calendar?

    Hello all,
I think my company must be using Pre-Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 with Service Pack 1 for our exchange server, because
I can only set up company Exchange account on MS Entourage, not the new Outlook
I can only set up the same exchange account only on iPad and iPhone (able to view in Mail, Calendar, Contacts & Reminders)
    But
I am unable to use Lion's Mail, iCal and Address Book to see my Exchange account
For the moment, I am not really concern about mail and addresses,
but can I see my Exchange calendar on my desktop iCal? How do I set it up?
I guess the most obvious and straight forward way, for now, is to view on my iPad :-)  But it is really funny that the iDevices are backward compatible but yet Lion OS cannot...
    Thanks and cheers.

    Hi,
Yes it will work, it says enterprise because it works there as well.
    Thanks

  • Why the removed flag will be resumed after re-sync with MS Exchange server (2010)

    Dear Sir:
I had a big problem using Lion mail application. I like the program since it's quite simple and useful. But this problem makes me not able to work with Lion mail program continaully.
In Lion mail, I import my office mail account which based on MS Exchange server 2010. I just found some mails (sorry I cannot fina any rule) which ever be flagged, when I try to un-flag them. The flag status will come back after re-sync with mail server. But the status doesn't happen with all mails I had. One thing I can confirm is, the "specific" mail doesn't be marked with any status after I checked them using Outlook application (both Mac Office 2011 or Windows Office 2010). Have you ever received similar feedback? Please help me to resolve this issue ASAP. Thank you.
    -Joseph

When the original message is accessed using IMAP, the reply method uses the information in the
IMAP ENVELOPE to determine where to send the reply. It first looks for the Reply-To address
in the ENVELOPE, then the From address.
Interestingly, when not using IMAP, the getFrom method returns the Sender header if the From
header is empty. The IMAP-specific code doesn't do that, although perhaps it should.
It would be interesting to compare the ENVELOPE data from the protocol trace in the two cases.
The ENVELOPE data will follow this syntax:
    envelope     = "(" env-date SP env-subject SP env-from SP
              env-sender SP env-reply-to SP env-to SP env-cc SP
              env-bcc SP env-in-reply-to SP env-message-id ")"
So it's the first three address fields after the Subject that are relevant. If the From and Reply-To
fields are NIL, but the Sender field has a valid address, let me know. I should probably fix the
IMAP provider to fall back to the Sender field if the From field is missing.

  • Syncing ACT contacts while on automatic wireless syncing with Microsoft Exchange Server?

Does anyone know if this is possible? At the moment, my company is automatically performing a wireless sync between Outlook contacts and their Blackberry Curve 8330 devices. However, employees that travel also need their ACT contacts on their phone. I've researched CompanionLink and know that I can get the ACT contacts directly onto the Blackberry that way, but, the problem arises where the ACT contacts will end up syncing back to the Exchange server -- which we don't want. We want to keep the automatic syncing with Outlook, but periodically we want to do a one-way ACT transfer onto our Blackberries, without having those extra (approximately 5,000) contacts go back into Outlook. Is there an easy way to categorize/separate Outlook and ACT? Any ideas or workarounds?

I am trying to sync my Outlook 2007 with my palm Treo Pro but keep getting the same error - server could not be reached Error code
80072ee2. This is probably a basic question but the server you enter into the Microsoft Exchange settings in active sync is the mail server you have in Outlook 2007? eg mail.internode.on.net. I don't need to do anything to outlook 2007 to "activate" Microsoft Exchange.
I'm looking at the Internode setup guides and it looks as though you have a POP server. In that case, if you want to sync directly to the server, you would want to set it up for POP/SMTP rather than for Microsoft Exchange Server. Does that help?
If you do not want to sync over the air and instead want to sync only by USB/Bluetooth to your PC, I think that works quite differently. I don't have any experience with that.
(Edit: Changed link style so it was more obvious.)

  • Setting up your iPhone to sync with 1and1 Exchange Server.

_+*You *must have* iPhone firmware version 2.0 and higher to sync to Exchange Services+.*
iPhone and 1and1 exchange work amazingly well. Most folks out there are still using the IMAP side of the 1and1 Exchange service. *"THIS IS NOT FULLY FUNCTIONING EXCHAHGE"*! Here is how to really set up your phone to sync Mail, Calendars, and Contacts with 1and1 Exchange accounts.
    From your home screen:
1: Go to the settings control panel on your iphone.
2: Touch the "*Mail, Contacts, Calendars*" tab.
3: Touch the "*Add Account...*" tab.
4: Touch the "*Microsoft Exchange*" tab.
A screen asking you to "*Enter your Exchange account information*" will appear.
5: type your email address attached to your 1and1.com exchange account.
    ex. "[email protected]"
6: type your domainusername. Your 1and1 username is one that is assigned to you by 1and1.
the username must be typed out in this manner: exchangee123456789
*If you already know your 1and1 Exchange Username then skip to step 7.*
Your 1and1 username starts with an "e" and its followed by nine numbers (ex.: e123456789). If you do not know this username you have to go to your Administrator panel at the 1and1 site,(Here is the URL to the admin page. *http://admin.1and1.com*).At the prompt enter your customer number *which is located on your monthly 1and1 invoice* followed by your password. if you have never seen this control panel you will have to sign in and get a password to access this area. Once in the Admin area under the packages tab click the url labled "*1&1 Microsoft Exchange*". You will now be in the *Administration Tab*. Now under the *communications tool* section click the URL labeled *"Microsoft® Exchange Account Overview"*. You will now see a list of the exchange usernames in that exchange package. Find your username and either print out the page or write the number down.
7: type your 1and1 exchange account password.
8: type a description that best corresponds with your 1and1 exchange account. As a suggestion you should type a description that makes your account stand out. "*ex. 1and1 exchange account*" (this will be helpful later in distinguishing what calendars come from which account if you are syncing multiple calendars.)
9: touch the "Next" button at the top right of the screen.
iPhone will connect with the 1and1 exchange server and authenticate your account. If the authentication fails check one of your entries then try again.
10: once iPhone authenticates your account a field called "Server" will appear between the "Email" and "Username" fields. Enter "exchange.1and1.com" into this field.
11: touch the "Next" button at the top right of the screen.
12: Select which part of the Exchange Services you would like sync with your iPhone.
ie. *Mail, Contacts, or Calendars*. (Simply slide the on or off switch next to the service you either wish to sync or exclude.)
13: once you have chosen your services touch the "Save" button at the top right of the screen.
iPhone will once again contact the 1and1 Exchange server. You will be returned to the mail settings screen.
    You are now done
If you don't have any contacts on your iPhone just go look at your address book now. If you chose to sync your address book all of your contacts have populated themselves into your iPhone contacts tab.
    AWESOME
Welcome to Exchange on the iPhone!
Some thing to try to verify your Exchange account.
1: Create a Calendar or Address book entree in your iPhone. Now watch it appear on your Outlook account.
2: Tell a friend with Outlook to invite you to a calendar event. You will receive an invitation right there on your iPhone screen.
Have fun and enjoy your new iPhone.

Unless Apple decides to license ActiveSync from MS, this will not happen.
Apple hasn't done so since OS X was first released for whatever the reason or reasons and although always/never should not be used, I'm not sure how likely this is.
I venture to say that Apple is well aware that the iPhone is limited to business use as is - at least for those with an Exchange account - with a company or IT department not willing to enable IMAP account access for email accounts. Initially, the iPhone was not designed nor intended for the enterprise/business market as is a Blackberry, Palm or Windows Mobile device. It is obvious from the commercials that the focus - at the present time anyway, is as a consumer device. The iPhone/iPod Touch SDK scheduled to be released on March 6 may change this but what will come out of the SDK and when is unknown at this point.
If you need to access your Exchange account with the iPhone and your company and IT department refuses to enable IMAP account access, there are no workarounds for this. There are ways to make accessing an IMAP account secure by requiring SSL for the incoming and outgoing mail servers and the iPhone also supports VPN - virtual private network access which is secure.
Other than that and you don't want to keep the iPhone for personal use, it is probably best to return it and wait until after the SDK is released to see what may turn up.

  • My Mac Calendar won't sync with Outlook Exchange Calendar

I have a MacBook Air running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1
