Solution for uneven screen brightness

My screen wasn't perfectly even in terms of brightness; the right side seemed darker than the rest. After experimenting, I discovered that setting the screen brightness to the highest for couple of hours solved this issue. Now my screen brightness is completely even! I don't know how this happens but it works!

I'm not sure either, but I know that some programs out there to solve "stuck" pixels play an intense video on your screen, changing color 30 times/second, and that is able to free the liquid which is actually stuck behind that one pixel. Also, applying pressure with a damp cloth and restarting your computer is another fix I've heard for that problem. Screen brightness, on the other hand, has to do with the lamp behind that liquid display, so I don't know how that would be affected by these things. I just realized this post didn't really make sense. Now I'm debating whether or not to hit "post." I'm really tired and I need to get my work done, but instead on here on the apple forums. Please help!

  • Dead Pixel , or uneven screen brightness test

    Hello
    I will get my new Imac monday.
    Could you please tell me how can I check the screen for dead pixels or uneven screen brightness issues?
    Thank you fpor your help
    Please when you explain, take in consideration that I never used a mac before,
    I am a switcher
    Many thx

    Normally you will see any stuck (colored) or dead (black) pixels right from the get go. Many times stuck pixels will unstick over time or by running pixel fixers.
    example: http://www.jscreenfix.com/basic.php
    In the unlikely event that you have any dead pixels, contact Apple, your local Apple Store or Apple Service Provider there really good about making things right.
    All computer displays will exhibit some sort of unevenness and or back light leakage, but most folks don't notice or worry about it. Unevenness can be seen using a solid light gray or light blue back ground and backlight leakage can be checked using a black screen.

  • Uneven screen brightness

    Hi everybody. I originally posted this in the Displays section of this forum, but reader traffic is apparently too light there - I got zero replies .
    I bought a G5 rev B last week. Everything has been nearly flawless so far, except that I noticed that the leftmost portion of the screen is slightly brighter than the rest of it. Lighting environment is uniform (a dark room), and there are no electromagnetic sources nearby. The effect is most noticeable through light colors (incidentally, the gray brushed-metal window outlines).
    I understand that backlight lamps may have varying luminosity, but my question is: does anybody have this effect? Should this be a reason to bother or is this normal for LCDs?
    Thanks.

    MacAbre,
    We had a screen brightness problem with our new (as of May 2005) iMac.
    Took it to the Apple Store and 2 days later had a new LCD in it.

  • Apple's "Solution" for Blue-Screen Crashing Problem

    Good Morning,
    For those of you thinking of calling Apple's Technical Support for help about the Blue-Screen crashing issue, don't bother.
    I just got off the phone with Tech Support about the blue-screen crashing issue. After waiting 15 minutes for help, the first thing they did was act as if I were the first person to report this problem. The tech support guy finally admitted that Apple has received thousands of calls on this matter in the past couple of days.
    When I asked for a solution, the only thing the tech support guy offered was to have me disconnect all my external devices, then restart Windows and disable various services, the restart my computer, then reconnect my external devices, then reconnect the iPod, then restart the computer again...Absolutely ridiculous.
    I did all these steps, and I got the iPod to work once. But when I restarted my computer again, the problem returned.
    So, after a lot of wasted time, I'm back to where I started.
    I'm getting rather angry about this.
    Apple needs to fix this problem -- TODAY
    How could Apple release a new version of iTunes with this problem?
    If you call Tech Support and they try to tell you they have not heard of this problem before, just give them this list of links to discussions concerning the crashing issue:

  • Solution for terrible screen glare?

    I just recently bought two 15" macbook pros and they glare so badly they're hard to do work. My old 17" didn't have this issue and I had no idea the screen was different with the newer models. I called Apple, they said call Best Buy (where I bought them), Best Buy said call the store and the store said call the Apple store. I just spent over $4,500 for two laptops I can't use to edit (photography) on location because the glare is so bad. Does anybody have a solution? I can't afford to spend more money! Thanks

    Take them back if you can and buy the anti-glare models at the Apple Store or online.
    There are online Mac businesses that will replace the glare screen for a anti-glare.
    Anti-glare filters are a pain in the arse.
    Search for MacMatte and log a protest with everyone else. See this..

  • Has anyone found a solution for the screen freeze on iPhone 6 plus?

    I have an iPhone 6 plus on t mobile. Since buying the phone, there has been difficulty with the screen randomly freezing. I was wondering if this was a software fix or do I need to have the hardware looked at.

    Have you tried these basic troubleshooting steps?
    Restart / Reset

    Restore from backup
    Restore as new

  • Production ready solution for full screen?

    I am creating a full screen application (simulation/game). Full screen is part of the requirements.
    So I set:
    primaryStage.setFullScreen(true);
    and then add the scene to the stage:
    primaryStage.setScene(aScene);
    When I run the application I immediately get the message "Press escape to exit full screen mode" on top of the screen (covering the company logo is usually not a good idea). The message fades after a bit.. but then I go to the next scene
    primaryStage.setScene(aNewScene);
    and the message "Press escape to exit full screen mode" covers the screen again (and I assume it will do this every time I change scenes). This will obviously not fly. Any idea how I get rid of these messages once and for good. Thanks

    Even though they look like swing panels from an API perspective, they are implemented using a scene graph (much like traditional 3D programming). Each 'pane' is just a node in the tree with child nodes.
    BorderPane.setCenter is the right approach for you. Or perhaps even slightly better is a StackPane at the root which will let you do layers. Add a BorderPane as the first child of this and then use setCenter on this to change your game display. Then add another pane to the StackPane to contain your HUD (eg score, buttons, etc). Use animations to do some cool HUD entry/exits for bonus points.
    JFX Flow would probably suit your needs too. Just customize the browser class to not look like a browser. That way you'd get some of the other features too like page transitions, dialogs, blocking while loading, etc, or have a look at the jfx flow source code (particularly the Browser class) for bits and pieces of what you need.

  • Anyone have solution for gray screen problem?

    Acrobat displays gray screens only for each page of file when opening from flash drive.  Files open properly from same flash drive on other computers so fiies are OK.  Latest Acrobat update installed.
    Problem started within last few weeks, worked fine prior to that.

    I'm having the same issue opening an attached pdf from Outlook 2013.
    From the age of your post, I see Adobe is very concerned about this.

  • Solution for frozen screen?

    My iPod touch is frozen. I have turned it off six times, each time resulting in the same frozen screen. I have reset my iPod only to have the screen still unresponsive. Double tapping the home button still moves the screen. The touch action for my iPod is not responding. I tried to restore the iPod a few times, each time just resulting in the same way. I allowed my iPod to die on it's own, only to have it be fully charged and still unresponsive.
    Is there someone out there that can help? Or should I contact a specialist? Due to my location Apple stores are not common and if they are, they do not speak English.

    Try what you have not yet tried:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • No screen brightness control on an envy 17

    I had some maleware that was removed and it broke the Catalyst Control Center, I only has the Intel 300 HD to view the screen from.
    I used the 14-4-mobility-win7-win8-win8.1-64-dd-ccc-whql from 3D GuRu
    and,
    win64_152822 intel hd 3000 from the intel site.
    I have the popup omn the screen from the keyboard shortcut, but nothing haoppens. its on full brightness.
    Left click the battery icon in the tray and there is a place for 'Adjust Screen Brightness'. It takes me to a page 'Select A Power Plan' where it SHOULD be but doesn't show up. If I select 'Change Plan Settings' it is there but has no effect. its all still full bright.
    It was working fine until the malware.
    Did sfc /scannow, nothing to report.
    Any ideas on this?

    Hi @fjward ,
    Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue HP ENVY 17-3090nr 3D Edition Notebook PC and issues with brightness control and the Catalyst Control Center.  I would uninstall any graphic drivers that are listed and  CCC software, restart the computer, then reinstall only the AMD. It will include the Amd Graphics Driver and Catalyst Control Center restart the computer.
    Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system.
    You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook.
    When performing a System restore please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices as they can cause issues.
    Please let me know how this goes.
    Thanks.

  • Default Sound Balance and Screen Brightness?

    Recently my iBook G4 has been booting up with the screen brightness all the way down and the speaker balance all the way to the left. Did these settings somehow get set as the defaults? How do I change it back to normal so that I dont have to keep changing the settings every time I boot up?

    There has been a bug in OSX in regards to sound balance for notebooks since 10.3.5 (IIRC). To fix it look for a free app called Balanced, that should correct the problem.
    As for the screen brightness, I've never heard or seen anything like that.

  • 6280 screen brightness

    My 6280 works o/k except for this abnormal (I think) behaviour.
    When a key is pressed or the slide is opened, from keylock, the sreen goes very bright for about one second and then the brightness lowers to the normal level.
    Is there anything I can doabout this as I need to wait for the screen brightness to drop to normal brightness before I can read it?
    Thanks

  • 6303i Classic : Adjust screen brightness

    I have a nokia 6303i and am over the moon with it except for the screen brightness. I've replaced it with my old 6300 and the difference in screen brightness is very significant. Not a vibrant display at all. Is there any way of setting the brightness on the 6303i. Its so dim  that I am reconsidering the purchase.

    Is  there a way to disable light sensor or atleast to increase some brightness. because my phones display is very dim. when i flash a light on light sensor, then the display brightness is normal. i think the ambient light sensor is making my phone brightness very dim for almost all the environments.

  • Screen Brightness won't change no matter what I do

    Hello guys:
    For the time I've been using ArchLinux my screen brightness buttons don't work.  Also power options for adjusting screen brightness do nothing, so you see why I have a problem, my screen eats the laptop's battery... I've also tried adjusting the values of /proc/acpi/video/GFX0/DD02/brightness, but saw no effect.  I'm using an Acer Aspire 5740-5513, which has an intel core i3 using Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD

    Hey guys, the following script I wrote might be useful for increasing/decreasing and/or setting brightness to min/max using 'xbacklight' so you can bind it to some of your key combination. For example i have FN+f2 set to '/path/to/script down' to decrease '/path/to/script up' to increase etc ...
    Respect
    #!/bin/bash
    if [ $# -ne 1 ]
    then
    exit 1
    elif [ $1 == "down" ]
    then
    xbacklight - 10
    elif [ $1 == "up" ]
    then
    xbacklight + 10
    elif [ $1 == "max" ]
    then
    xbacklight = 100
    elif [ $1 == "min" ]
    then
    xbacklight = 10

  • HAL and screen brightness

    So for some reason I could change screen brightness, but only by setting the default in gnome-power-manager. In order to get the function keys to work too I had to play around with HAL config (using an example I found in an ubuntu bug report)
    Given that HAL is now deprecated, what is replacing it for handling screen brightness?

    pl give the details of your graphics card. in some cases you need to use  setpci command. Most of the Intel integrated graphics work out of box. For latest nvidia cards still some issues to be resolved.
