SOLUTION: IF you're having different Windows errors everytime you reinstall Windows

It looks like I finally have my OS working correctly, so I thought I would put my 'fix' on here in case it helps someone else.
I have a Qosmio x775-3dv78 running W7x64, but I'm not sure this fix would only be for this instance.
This 'fix' may be relevant only for Seagate HDDs, as that is what I have for my primary (system) drive...a 500Gb Hybrid Momentus (came installed from Toshiba)
I was having runtime errors in the OS that would change every time I would reinstall a CLEAN Windows setup.
I tested the memory..OK
Even ran CHKDSK and some other HDD check software...OK.
But then I found out from Seagate that Toshiba uses its own controllers for HDDs and that most HDD software does not work well with this config.
However, Seagate has a utility called Seatools for Windows that works through Windows.
SO, I downloaded this (you have to install .Net 4 if you don't already have it...the Seatools install will try to do this...but it did NOT install correctly...so I installed .NET 4 manually first and then Seatools).
I ran the Seatools LONG fix and repair utility...which replaces any bad sectors with spares on the drive.
And ouila!!! My OS is stable and error free now!!!
If you believe in such things...I also rean a good registry cleaner...which found over 1300 errors on a clean W7 install with all Windows updates and stable Toshiba apps and drivers!!!

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

This question is way too general, sccm ghost. Why is it not working? What is (not) happening? What does smsts.log tell? How are you trying to migrate data?

HT1926 I have uninstalled and reinstalled the newest itunes version and it is still saying windows error everytime and i can not open my itunes at all

I was currently trying to update my itunes to the newest version. It went through all the setup and i thought it was okay untill i clicked to open itunes and it said windows error try reinstalling. I used the repair function and that did not work. I uninstalled and re installed it and that still did not work. I tried the steps from the website to help and nothing worked!!

Need assistance with VAMT/Preserving Windows 7 Activation when Reinstalling Windows (MAK) - Urgent

My current HDD (500GB SATA 3 Toshiba HDD) is failing, and displaying a warning. I bought a new WD 750 GB HDD to replace it making sure it is compatible with SATA 3.
Problem: Reinstalling Windows 7 Professional and Office 2010 Professional Plus and activating both of them.
Activation/Products Affected:
They are "Retail" versions (MAK) but Academic so the activation limit is between 2 and 5. (Yes, they are only installed on One Computer, are Genuine and are compliant....).
Background: I am a college student, taking IT related courses and we have to install a lot of resource intensive software. I usually reinstall Windows every 4-6 months to "Start Fresh"
which I notice improved performance and only install necessary software. This is using up the MAK activations as is to be expected.
Goal: I would like to use VAMT 2.0 (or ideally 3.0 -but I have zero knowledge of SQL). I also do not have a server, just 2 or 3 Standard Laptops (Windows 8.1, Windows XP Home, and this Windows
7 PC).

Can I use proxy activation in this case to "preserve the Activations by using VAMT to store the Installation and Confirmation ID's to avoid having frequent activation problems? If so, can someone please help me?
I tried to set the WMI Windows Firewall Rules to Allow for Public, Home and Work on both PC's but was unable to activate in a previous attempt a few months ago.
Any help is more than appreciated. I am backing up all of my files and have to get this completed before college courses resume (in 3 days).

If you do a full image of the current 500GB HDD and then restore it to the 750GB HDD you will preserve the Windows Activation. This will work with any backup that does a full image of the HDD including Windows 7 Backup.
Windows 7 Backup will only restore an exact duplicate of the original 500GB HDD retaining the same partition scheme and sizes which can be expanded later. Most third party backup programs will restore to a larger HDD and expand the current partitions.
Some give you the option to control the size of the expanded individual partitions.

WINDOWS PRODUCT KEY - for reinstalling WINDOWS

What if your computer comes with NO Windows Product Key sticker -- computer came new with Windows 7 preinstalled but, included Windows 8 installation discs - never needed a key & should've (in hindsight) made a boot repair disc - but, recently computer would NOT boot up - tried to repair it but, no luck -- SO, now if I want to reinstall Windows 7 will have to use an OEM but, need a Product Key for HP computers --- any time else you install Windows you are REQUIRED to enter your own Product Key # which is about 25 digits including letters, numbers & dashes ---------- I do have Windows 10 on another drive but, love Windows 7 -- Windows 10 is far better than 8 BUT, not as good as 7 I have looked all over my case for any WINDOWS sticker & inside too -- I have heard that laptops are usually under the battery but, for DESKTOPS will be stuck somewhere on the case & this does NOT have one -------------- it is just STUPID for HP to ship computers without a PRODUCT KEY as every other manufacturer does for this reason..THANKS

Uhm as far as I know Operating System of these unit didnt came with product keys, because operating system of this unit is from the manufacturer, And it was never been installed using standalone discs by hp. You might need to order recovery discs online on its support website. as far as I know. Hope you dont mind.

[Solved] Windows Activation problem after reinstalling Windows

I have managed to create 5 recovery dvds with BurnRecovery to reinstall windows on a newly created partition. I've gone from a 1 SSD system partition (AHCI) to a 2 SSD system partition (RAID).
problem is windows won't activate because it says my serial key is installed in another computer! Which obviously is my computer but the previous installation.
What can I do??

No problem I called Microsoft and an automated process have me a confirmation code to activate it.

Error 0xe0ef00e When reinstalling windows from DVD

Bought a new hard drive and tried instaling the OS with the recovery discs i made when first purchased the computer. I am getting the 0xe0ef00e error when trying to boot from DVD. Fist time it gave the error on disc 2 and on my second attempt, i got the error on disc three. There are 4 discs total. When this didn't work i tried using an enclosure and booting from my fully functional hard drive that was working fine. This didn't work. It said it installed the recovery partition and was going to restart and install the drivers etc. It had to first rebot before instaling the drivers. When it tried to start, it gave me an Unable to start error. It tried to "fix" itself, but just went into a circle. I can't think of how to get this OS on the new dvd. I've tried making a new set of recover disc, but come to find out, you can only make one set. What is the error caused by, and is there a way to get this OS on the new drive?

You might want to contact HP Support at this link, and see if they will send you a new set of Recovery Restore disks for your system. It sounds like your recovery discs may have some corrupt data on them and that is preventing you from installing the OS correctly.

Unable to transfer a complete album and only 2 songs appear in iTunes. This is from a purchased CD which was uploaded to my private music collection to use in iTunes.
Unable to keep the songs on iPhone without having to download them all the time. There are albums that apear but greyed because I have to re-download them. It is very nerve racking.
Unable to keep the files edited properly. Such as New York Dolls when it is supposed to be The New York Dolls.
So far, these are the problems I have been running across. No matter which I used to sync or to use iMatch it does seem to have me do a some of the actions over. This does not even cover the rating. It should keep all your settings and not selective.

No. This is a user-to-user forum, where your fellow users help you. Since those users may be on the other side of the world to you, it may take a while before anyone responds. Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

You Tube menu different from Apple TV You Tube menu

Hello. When I search You Tube online, I get a certain set of results. I want to watch it on the large screen so I go into the bedroom, turn on APple TV, go to You Tube search and put in the EXACT title that I am seeing on my laptop You Tube menu ---- but nope. It will not come up on the Apple TV version. It is frustrating to to use the remote over and over again for no results.
This happens frequently, but searching for tbis episode of Dateline tonight is what put me over the edge. The only episode that appears is Pt.8_11
I have tried to conquer this on my own a hundred different ways but I accept that it is time to ask for help. Help?

Thank you for taking the time reply. It's an 11 part episode of Dateline and episode 8 of 11 is listed. None of the others come up on Apple TV YouTube menu. It is weird.

Is there a way to disable hang protection permanently instead of having to do it everytime you log in?

I disabled hang protection in order to be able to play facebook games without getting the adobe flash protection error. I set it to -1 per the help screen, and it worked fine allowing the games to load. But when I logged on today it had reset to 45 seconds, so the adobe flash plugin crashed again. Is the a way to permanently disable so I would not have to constantly go thru changing the hang time setting?

Ok, if you are having firmware problems, like you can do nothing to your mp3 (in my case Zen Vision: M) or you're stuck in recovery mode because you erased your firmware and now you pc isn't recognizing your mp3 and you can't upgrade you firmware, don't worry, I got trought all of it and my Zen is now working =D I had to do a lot of things in order not to loose my mp3, and one of those things was reinstalling my windows xp =/... took me 2 or 3 days to install everything again and put the whole pc in order, but once it was finally done, I was able to upgrade my firmware, so if you are having this kind of issue, you can reinstall you operational system and it'll go back, at last came back with me But before reinstalling it, here a few things you can do: try to reinstall you USB drives, and when I say reinstall I really meant it! Fully unnistall it, get your motherboard cd drive and install it again, before downloading any upgrade for your USB, try it as it comes from the cd, if it doesn't work, then upgrade your USB drive. Since I had to reinstall everything from my computer, that includes that I had to reinstall SP and SP2, so if reinstalling USB doesn't work, you can also unnistall SP and SP2 and see if that can work, although is pretty hard and annoying to do it, if you really like you MP3 and if you don't want to waste more money on it, I highly advise you to do it. So after you reinstall SP, SP2 and USB and your mp3 is still coming up with firmware error, DON'T WORRY! Go to creative.com, look for support, download, and check for firmware download, they have firmware upgrades, mine goes for the name of Creative ZEN Vision:M 30 GB Firmware .62.02, at http://us.creative.com/support/downl...type=4&x=8&y=9 If still none of these settings worked for you, then you can reinstall your operational system, having in mind that althought it was very simple for me (yeah, I know something about computer and I've reinstalled my XP a ton of times), it can get some people into trouble and it can damage your HD if you have no clue on what you're doing. My player is currently stuck in recovery mode. My player isn't supported by the mp3 recovery tool offered on this site. I have been thru 3 micros because of the jack problem. On my 4th episode I finally had a friend that works in computer welding fix the jack for me. It has worked flawlessly for .5 years now until I had this recovery mode freeze happen. I was hoping I would be able to get it going thru the help of Creative or some of the Gurus on this site. Well, I have given up. So, I thought I would go and check out some of the players similar to mine and order a new one. Well I was going to check out a 6 Gig player and they want $250 for it. The new 80 Gig Zune is $250. Not to bring up another player but to me, that is a no brainer. I don't really have any use for a player that big but for the money and what you get compared to what they are offering here, Creative isn't leaving me too much choice. My wife still has a Micro Photo but I guess it will be time for me to step up and try something different. I really like staying loyal, but Creative isn't really giving me any competitive choices to do so. I would like to say thanks to all the nice people on this site. I really appreciate all of the information on here.

Repeatedly getting error 7 (windows error 5)

We keep getting the above message when trying to install iTunes. We have followed the instructions in similar posts (i.e. deleting a heap of things, restarting computer, then downloading) but it still happens. The last time it went through the whole download and run process, popped up saying its downloaded and ready to run etc, then when you go to run the above message appears AGAIN!!!!
We seemed to have tried everything and its still not working. Please help!! I need to back up my phone and need iTunes to download music for my kids.
