  • Install solution Manager 3.2 on NW

we have recently installed NW 04 (ABAP+Java) - is it possible to install SOLMON 3.2 or 4.0 on it now. if yes  were can i find guide or any link.
    thanx

    Hi Shaik,
you can use the hardware of your NW to add the SAP Solution Manager 4.0 as a separate installation.
Check, whether the existing NW hardware (CPU, Main memory, disk space) is able to handle to load by the SolMan 4.0 installation.
See the SAP Solution Manager 4.0 sizing guidelines in SAP Service Marketplace:
Path: http://service.sap.com/solutionmanager -> Media Library -> Technical Papers -> Sizing of SAP Solution Manager 4.0
    URL: http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000538663&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000202&_OBJECT=011000358700003431482006E
    http://service.sap.com/~sapdownload/011000358700003431482006E
It's not possible to add the SAP Solution Manager Add-On to your existing NW system. SAP Solution Manager runs always as a separate installation with it's own System Id.

  • Steps for solution manager sizing

    Hi,
I could not see sizing for SAP solution manager in Sizing tool.
Pls let me know of where i can find it

    hi,
    taken from
    [https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/b442d4ea-0c01-0010-a8ad-a4c2eaaf6b76]
    it is told :
Do you have a rule of thumb concerning sizing?
For small and medium sized companies, there is no need to set up a high-end server if it is only used for the SAP Solution Manager and its monitoring functions. A small/medium-sized server is sufficient. However, this is dependent on your needs and future plans. The following sizing proposal is based on a standalone server with SAP Solution Manager only.
    - For basic setup: 1 CPU current standard (min. 1 GHz), 1GB RAM, 50 GB hard disk space
    - For advanced setup: 2 CPUs current standard (min. 1 GHz), 2 GB RAM, 50 GB hard disk space
The basic setup of SAP Solution Manager is defined as only having SAP EarlyWatch Alert and service level reporting, configured on the satellite systems and up to 5 users working at the same time on the SAP Solution Manager.
The advanced setup of the SAP Solution Manager requires additional steps after the basic setup is complete. The advanced features cover the configuration of system monitoring and/or business process monitoring. For further information, please refer to the sizing proposals for SAP Solution Manager 3.1 on the SAP Service Marketplace.
    hope it help you.

  • CPS on Solution Manager EHP1?

    Folks,
Any idea whether we can install CPS in Solution Manager EHP1 (7.01) system with Java EHP1 (SP4)?
The CPS software is available under NW 7.0.
    Regards
    Chandu

    Hello Cheeti,
you can install SAP CPS on SAP Solution Manager and SAP CPS is actually quite independent on Java support package (but choose the right NW release 7.01), i.e. you do not always have to update you SolMan system if you install a new CPS release.
However, if you read through the SAP CPS Installation Guide (Scheduling) you will find the recommendation to install SAP CPS on a separate server. That might not necessarily be the case for test or demo installations and of course also depends on your utilization of SAP CPS.
    Have you considered these things:
Sizing: How does the ressource consumption of SAP Solution Manager influence you SAP CPS scheduler? Will important jobs be delayed?
Are there sufficient RFC resources for all application? (SolMan, Wiley, CPS all these application need to communicate with the managed systems)
Do you want to entangle the lifecylce management of SAP CPS with SAP Solution Manager? Which production do you want to update more/less frequently? Can you accept additional down times?
    Kind regards,
    Martin

  • How to add a system into Solution Manager directory.

    Hi!
Can anybody tell me how to add a system into Solution Manager directory before generating license key for ECC installation .
    Also,
How to connect the XI in same box with SolMan and ECC in defferent server to SolMan 3.2 .
I am going to install SolMan and than XI in and box and after that ECC in a seperate box.
    AM I right?
    regards,
    Pratip Bhattacharyya

    Hi Bratip Bhattacharyya,
SolMan 3.2 needs SLD only for automatic data gathering of the sap landscape; you can choose between SLD and LIS in transaction SMSY_SETUP (which simply uses the TMS-domain controllers for information gathering).
XI needs SLD, but XI needs also a netweaver04 (s) system (Abap WAS 6.40). SolMan 3.2 isn't a netweaver04 system (Abap WAS 6.20). So you have to install XI as an own central instance (Abap + Java) on the same windows server, if you like. In this case you have to install for XI an own SLD. Different SLDs can create bridges between themselves. Please look at the SLD configuration guide (quicklink /netweaver -> installation guides).
But don't ask me how to install two sap systems on one server on windows (on Linux it's easy I have done so); basically it will have an own SID and own "service" numbers (which means own tcp port numbers).
If you can't dedicate to XI an own server, it's only a question of hardware sizing. For the different combinations of netweaver components you should study the master guide for netweawer.
    Bye

  • New to Solution Manager

    We are planning to install Solution Manager and have arrived on following configuration based on what we could understand from Sizing tool and guide;
Intel Xeon Quad core with 16 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD - Win 2008 Enterprise-64 bit 25 user and SQL 2008 5 user.
we have around 30 customers sending approx 50 msgs per month.
Can anyone advice us if this is ok. We are from BOBJ background and have no exposure to any other technology of SAP.
    Thanks  & Regards

    Dear Mayank.
Thanks for your reply. We arrived at this sizing only after referring to that sizing guide. Main problem is that everywhere all Solution Manager refer to ABAP, SAP modules, BW etc., but there is no reference to Business Objects.
We are basically from Business Objects background and SAP has asked us to install Solution Manager. Though we have raised the case with SAP, there is no help coming. Net Weaver and other SAP  terminology used in Solution Manager document is new for us.
We have succeeded in doing Basic installation, we are lost in the post installation steps. Guides available on the portal  are not much of help as they are cryptic and there are too many references than clear steps. When you reach the end of references one gets lost and is  more confused.
Can you give some help based on your experience? first of all it is not clear to us as how Solution Manager works? SAP guys instead of  giving a brief 3-4 sentence answer, send us the same solution manager documents links which we have referred before going to SAP.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Solution Manager systems RAM requirements - problems with the Java Engine

    Hello,
I am about to install SAP Solution Manager 7 on a WIndows 2003 Server x64 but I need to know what the RAM requirements are? I have been having problems with the Java Engine starting and it seems to time out, I have heard that this is a very RAM hungry process and it might be why?
Many thanks for your help in advance,
    Omar

    Hello Omar,
To size SAP Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1 we recommend to use the SAP Solution Manager Quicksizer Tool at:
    http://service.sap.com/sizing-solman
Here you find information on how to use the tool, how to collect input data for E2E Scenario Sizing, on SAP E2E RCA Sizing, Introscope Tuning, Wily Enterprise Manager Cluster Setup for E2E RCA Scenario and BI Aggregation Strategy in E2E Scenario.
Please find more information about installing Solution Manager in:
    http://service.sap.com/instguides -> SAP Solution Manager
    I hope this information helps.
    Thanks,

  • How to install both solution manager and ECC Development on same server

    Hi All,
Can anyone help me how to install Solution Manager and ECC Development on same server and also whether SLD is required? if yes, then how to setup.
    Pls let me know.
    Regards,
    Karthik

    Hi Karthik,
I try to answer you message, my answer may not be sufficient for you.
Install SAP Solution Manager and ECC development as separate systems sharing the same server. So each system will get it's own system id and installation number.
    Verify sizing of both systems.
SLD is not mandatory for a SAP Solution Manager. If a SLD already exist in your System Landscape, you can connect SMSY (System Landscape) in transaction SMSY_SETUP with a SLD. Information on System will then be retrieved from SLD, rather via an RFC.
    Best regards,
    Ruediger Stoecker

  • Where has to be defined the SLD? PI/XI or Solution Manager?

    Hello,
We have a PI production system, already configured and working. Now we are implementing the solution manager system. In both cases we only have productive systems. In which one should we define the SLD?
    Thanks and kind regards,
    Ana

    Hi
Generally I would not recommend to have a Solution Manager Central SLD also used for Productive PI operations
although this is possible to do
We have seen situations whereby issues on the Solution Manager J2EE could affect PI operations generally the Solution Manager J2EE will be used for different purposes and may require different system administration. The dual purpose may also
have performance or sizing implications - technically any sizing done would have been for separate purposes.
The SLD for PI is needed for productive runtime (although there is a XI cache - even so I have seen situations whereby
    this cache has limitations)
Customers often opt for the following
Central SLD running on the Solution Manager J2EE stack
Local PI SLD running on a PI J2EE stack
This is because the SLD service is available on any J2EE installation
You can then sync the local PI SLD  to the Central SLD  in order to build a full system list of all systems in the landscape
see the SLD planning guide at System Landscape Directory (SLD) for details
    Best wishes
    Stuart

  • Landscape of Solution Manager

    Hi, All:
My question is about the Solution Manager's Landscape. Normally, do we need 3-tier (DEV-QAS-PRD) landscape for Solution Manager implementation or only 1 Solution Manager to be installed is ok?
Any info will be highly appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Hi David,
Thank you for the reward points.
Regarding the landscape - Have not come across any document of that sort. People suggest based on experience.
