Solution Manager and JDI

Hi,
I'm not very familiar with solution manager but other than monitoring the WAS Java Runtime systems , upgrading them (support packs) and using the SLD are there any other connections with between the JDI and SLD ?
Thanks

Hi Marc,
the connection between JDI and Solution Manager. Since solution manager is supposed to be a central point to manage your business solution, I was wondering what kind of integration there is with the JDI.
We also need to position the SLD in our landscape. So far we were thinking of putting it with the JDI for JDI needs and having another one in solution manager for landscape definition.
We would then sync both with import and export ...
Thanks.

  • How do I setup RFC if Solution Manager and Target system are in same server

    Dear Experts,
How do I setup RFC if the Solution Manager and the Target System (SAP ERP 6.0) are sitting in the same server?
Do I really need to setup RFC?
    regards,
    Abraham

    Hello,
An RFC is a Remote Function Call and is used to communicate between computer systems.
A system can be on a server. Multiple systems can be on a single server, a single system can exist on multiple servers.
When you setup the RFC Target it is the Host and not the system that is specified.
You can get the host information when logged into the ERP system by running transaction SM59.
This would then be the target Host in the RFC from Solman to the ERP system.
As Miguel suggested this is rather simple. So I hope this has shone a light for you so you may proceed.
But if you continue to have problems please advise.

  • Solution Manager and Content Server / KW

    Hey guys,
Im supposed to assess the advantages of using a content server instead of the database used by SolMan to store documents.
Found some articles about connecting the content server but got confussed about the whole knowledge warehouse thing that seems somehow to be integrated in SolMan.
Apparently that's a different Version of the KW, providing a change history but lacking some other features. Found e.g.  this document here: [Solution Manager and SAP KW Documents |http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm40/helpdata/EN/a4/4f691faacf423db80f286787c5a527/content.htm]
Can someone give me an overview about what's possible by using these two things togehter?
It's been kind of hard to find some good infos and I'm relatively new to that topic (especially the KW thing), so I really hope you guys can help me.
    Cheers Joerg

    Hello LuongDK,
Please refer to the FAQ section on http://service.sap.com/solutionmanager, Check the installations section:
Which system should I use to install SAP Solution Manager?
The system has to be dedicated to the SAP Solution Manager. No other components can be installed on top of SAP Solution Manager.
SAP Solution Manager does not necessarily require separate hardware. It can be installed as a separate instance on an existing hardware.
This means that the hardware can be shared if it is sufficient to support 2 systems. However a MCOD option is not recommended at all.

  • Solution Manager and DMS

    Hi,
Am pretty confused between use of Solution Manager and DMS.Can they be used interchageably? What are the differences

    Hi Gopal,
Presume DMS is something you are already familiar with. Hence wont go into the details.
The SAP Solution Manager, on the other hand, is a platform which provides integrated support of the life-cycle of a business solution, from the Business Blueprint via configuration to production operation. The SAP Solution Manager provides central access to tools, methods and preconfigured contents, which you can use during the evaluation and implementation, as well as in operation processing of your systems.
The SAP Solution Manager also provides an authoring function, with which you can create your own project templates, which you reuse in an implementation. The SAP Solution Manager is thus also a tool for SAP partners and companies performing a global rollout.
Hope this sets in the required clarity.

  • How to install both solution manager and ECC Development on same server

    Hi All,
Can anyone help me how to install Solution Manager and ECC Development on same server and also whether SLD is required? if yes, then how to setup.
    Pls let me know.
    Regards,
    Karthik

    Hi Karthik,
I try to answer you message, my answer may not be sufficient for you.
Install SAP Solution Manager and ECC development as separate systems sharing the same server. So each system will get it's own system id and installation number.
    Verify sizing of both systems.
SLD is not mandatory for a SAP Solution Manager. If a SLD already exist in your System Landscape, you can connect SMSY (System Landscape) in transaction SMSY_SETUP with a SLD. Information on System will then be retrieved from SLD, rather via an RFC.

    Hi,
    Solution Manager
SAP Solution Manager as the name suggests is for managing the whole gamut of SAP and Non-SAP solutions in the IT Landscape of an organisation. It provides you the tool, content and gateway to create, operate, manage and monitor your solutions over time.

SAP Solution Manager is the successor to ASAP ValueSAP. SAP Solution Manager helps in implementing and managing complex system landscapes. Globally systems are getting distributed across geographies and business processes cover more than one system. In such complex scenarios, integrating technical and business requirements is important for the success of IT. SAP Solution Manager provides SAP customers with an efficient means of handling both the technical and business process side of solution implementation .
As part of SAP Solution Management Solutions, the customers receive best practices relating to:
    - Global Strategy and Service Level Management
    - Business Process Management
    - Management of MySAP Technology
    - Software Change Management
    - Support Desk Management
SAP delivers this using support programs during implementation of the system solution. Some of the benefits of using SAP's Solution Manager are that it helps:
    - Manages the technical risk associated with the implementation of the solution ensuring technical robustness
    - Helps leverage users core competencies in implementing solutions
    - Ensures solution works as intended with best practices built in.

  • Solution Manager and a SAP GRC AC 5.3

    Hello,
We have a Solution Manager and a SAP GRC AC 5.3
We ant to know if somebody knows how to connect or the architecture os infrastructure to connect the Solution MAnager with the GRC.
What we have to do is... If someone in the Solman does a user or role request, the SAP GRC gets this request and begins the necesary workflows.
    I need help
    Best regards.
    Pablo Mortera.

    Hi,
As per your requirement, you want that the request should be automatically trigerred from Solman to GRC.
In GRC, CUP is used to provision the user and roles. The request can directly be created in CUP by a functionality known as HR triggers however this requires SAP_HR module which is not present in Solman.
So it is not possible to create request directly from solman. User can login to CUP and then can create the request for his login.

  • About solution manager and RBE

    hi,
I am supposed to integrate RBE (Reverse Business engineering) with SAP ECC 5.0. and i don't know abt RBE as well as solution manager so please give me step by step guidline that what procedure i have to follow for this.
and aslo tell me is it neccasary to integrate SM befor integrating RBE. and if yes then also give me step by step guidline for integrating SM.
    thanks in advances,
    regards,
    Hardik.

    Hi Hardik,
there are some companies that offer a services to analyze
an R/3 or ECC system with the RBE tool and bring the result in Solution Manager as a project. If the RBE analysis is based on Solution Manager BPR content (ST-ICO), the project will have all content (documents, IMG activities) that have been maintained by SAP in BPR.
Since RBE is currently not delivered any more (see note 910687) such services may be the only way to do this.
I know the following services for Solution Manager and RBE:

  • Difference between Solution Manager and Enterprise Edition

    Hi all,
Please can someone help define the key differences between the standard Solution Manager and the Enterprise Edition?
I have done my research but can only find the usual marketing material and benefits from SAP. Ideally, the key functionality and main benefits of Enterprise Edition would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    -Rohan

Hi, enterprise edition is the Solution manager with EHP1 or SOLMAN in SPS 18, we did the upgrade already and some SAP specialists came to do some initial configurations.
More workcenters are the key functionality in this version altough this was released in earlier SPS's, to be sincere with you, SAP specialists that came for the service told us that this new version is oriented to workcenters and some improvements but he did not know all the new functionalities besides workceneters.
Workcenters are a nice way of working and keeping the whole landscape at sight as far as my short experience.
