Solution Manager - Monitoring - Instance Status

HI all,
I'm trying to configure in "setup system monitoring" the alert on "Instance Status" but  is always in staus "Alert is active but not accessible".
The others alerts work fine.
I have already configured the ccmsping in rz21 and in rz20 everything is ok.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
Andrea

Hi,
If you want to monitor the Availability status of the instance then check the below docs

  • Display "system description" in Solution Manager monitoring info

    Hi,
We have maintained the "system description" info for our satellite systems in SMSY:
    http://screencast.com/t/OTNmMjFiM
Is there any way to display this info in the Solution Manager monitoring info?? Without this description text and only with system "SID" info it is very difficult for our IT Managers to identify each system...
For example, in the monitoring Work Center (System Status tab), is there any way to add the "system description" as a column? We didn't find it any way to insert it...
    Example: http://screencast.com/t/ZGU0ZjJk
Is there any way too in the SL Reports to include  the "system description" info in the system overview?
    Example: http://screencast.com/t/ZDg4MGIyYj
Without this info it is really difficult for our IT Managers (from the NWBC) to manage the Solution Manager info and it is only useless for the IT Administrators...
    Thanks in advance,
    Jon

    Hello,
You can run report RSMSY_REPORTING01 to get the details that you are looking for you will have to work with the selection criteria.

  • Send Solution Manager monitor data to ITM (IBM Tivoli Manager)

    Hi all,
I've recently installed a SAP Solution Manager 7.1 SP10 system in order to replace the old Solution Manager 7.0 system. The old system was (also) used for (CCMS) monitoring. A subset of the gathered data was sent to ITM (company policy and mandatory). With SolMan 7.1 SAP has drastically changed the way they monitor. CCMS/RZ20 (agent based) is no longer used (although it is still possible).
In the TX /nSOLMAN_SETUP I've done the "System Preparation", "Basic Configuration", "Managed System Configuration" and "Technical monitoring", installed the CA Wily introscope EM, Bytecode agents etc. I can see monitoring data in my Solution Manager system.
My question now is, how can I get (a subset of my) monitoring data from my Solution Manager system into ITM? How can I select only the for ITM relevant data, for instance file system full or failed database backup?
    Many thanks!
    /Marcel Kuijper

  • How to stop SAP Solution Manager Diagnostics instance?

    Dear community.
I've got a question. We are working on solman 4.0 with installed SMD (Solution Manager Diagnostics). For this tool is runnig an separated java instance on our server. The problem is, that we don't need the SMD, becaucse we have no JAVA systems to monitor. Is it possible to stop the SMD instance? If yes, how can I do it?
    Many thanks in advance...
    Michael

Solution manager itself has a java stack so are you saying you don't monitor solution manager java side of things?
SMD does both ABAP and Java application monitoring with varying levels of details, interactions, reporting etc so disabling SMD, to me, defeats the whole purpose of having Solution Manager 4
SAP wants customers to use this tool as best practice and guidelines suggest
On the other hand what advantage do you have of stopping this instance? It would still be sitting in your landscape taking up resources and should you come to use things like SLD and other java applications which I believe will be sooner than later you will have to setup/configure SMD again.
SAP best practice is to have a single SLD and this will definitely be monitored using SMD

  • How to Use Solution Manager to collect Status Reports from Consultants

    Hi,
I am planning to use Solution Manager for collecting the weekly status reports from my consultants and maintain it as a repository . Please let me know the best way of doing this in SOLMAN. There should be mailing options too.
    BR,
    Raj

    Hi Rajasan,
to be able to meet this requirement, you need to set up plan working load in admin tab for your resource,  they need to update actual data based on the work completion, you will get status of work,
if you require email, you need to set-up scot, then develop a program with execution scheduling
    please check and revert

    Hi Paul,
I would suggest to move this thread to the general SolMan forum, because it's not a VAR specific question.
    Do you agree?

  • CHARM: two Change Managers in an solution manager -  SDMN user statuses

    Hi to all
I'm trying to handle two change Managers in the one CHARM client , each of them has own project and own system landscape for which he is responsible. I'm trying to restrict them, with well known charm authorizations of Change Manager,  in a way that each of them  should be able to handle just his own project and project assigned  SDMN transaction type.
So far I've managed to restrict Change Manager to just one Task list with the  authorisations object B_SMAN_WPL  but this authorizations object is related just to the SDMN Task list but  not to the User statuses of the SDMN transactions type!!
If you will restrict Change Manager role  just to one task list (for example M*11)  with the above auth.  object (B_SMAN_WPL) it will be able to handle just this task through the SDMN drop down actions  task "Go To Task List" no others task list should be usable. So in this case your Change Manager is restricted to just one Task list. Thanks to "B_SMAN_WPL"!!
    But
....if the  same Change Manager should go to edit  the new SDMN transactions (for example with the task list M*22) , Change Manager should not be able to edit/change, the Task list itself (he is restricted by B_SMAN_WPL ), but it should be able to change User Status of corresponding  SDMN! - To Move phases back and forth!?? How Come?
How can  we  restrict Change manager to be able to handle just SDMN - which belongs to the certain project that is defined inside of authorization object S_PROJ_GEN.?
    waiting for SDN response )

I've just returned from the Hyperion conference here in South Africa. In one of the papers presented a BI consultant was using dynamically updated MaxL scripts to update dimensions and members within them. She had developed a VB front-end with MS Excel as the back-end. She was using the excel to pass parameters to the MaxL scripts and so controlling what was being updated on the model. The VB front end only allowed certain dimensions to be updated.Regards,Fraser

  • Solution Manager Service Desk - Status Profile

    Dear Experts,
I have implemented External Service Desk message forwarding and its working fine. I can see "Send to External Service Desk" function under the ACTION node and when I choose that and save the message goes to the external SAP Service Desk (VAR).
    I have the following questions.
    1) I need to create a new status under the status profile SFLN0001 as "Sent to External System". If I do that what should I select as the transaction (business transaction @ the last column when I go though Transaction: CRMBS02).
    2) When I forward the message to the external service desk then the Status wont get transferred to the external service desk but everything else goes. What could be the problem ? (Changed status wont get updated once synchronized with the external help desk).
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Best Regards
    Kushan

    Dear Kobayashi,
Can you please help me to understand what you have said little bit more.
    I have implemented the note : 1388227
    Note talks about manual mapping.
Should i just do a mapping in Alternative Value Mapping  (1) for "SAPUserStatus" and "Copy Value" for incoming and Out going ? would that be enough ? I did that in both the SDs but didn't work
how do I do this blow mentioned activities ? could you please help me to understand ? where should I define these mappings ? where do I have to specify this "E0001SLFN0001" ??? could you please elaborate this little more in steps as I'm new to this ?
How should I do this "Prior to the mapping, the value with the ID of the status and the status profile is filled" ???
and also this "The status must also be mapped here in the format <status ID><status profile> (for example, E0001SLFN0001)" ???
    from the note 1388227 -
    Outbound processing:
The user status is transferred as an additional attribute (parameter IctAdditionalInfos) with the attribute name (AddInfoAttribute) "SAPUserStatus".  For this, it has to be included in the value mapping of the external interface.  Prior to the mapping, the value with the ID of the status and the status profile is filled (for example, E0001SLFN0001).
    Inbound processing:
When the attribute "SAPUserStatus" is transferred and the mapped value is not initial, the user status of the message is set to this value. The status must also be mapped here in the format <status ID><status profile> (for example, E0001SLFN0001).
If a user status is not transferred, or the mapping returns an initial value, the logic described above for setting the status based on the executed operation is carried out.
end of the note 1388227 -
Appreciate if you could kindly help me once again
    Thanks and Regards
    Kushan

  • Solution Manager Monitoring Table Size

    Hi Gurus!
    Question for you!
Is there a way to monitor the size of a table, or even the number of registers that it has, or anything like it?
The problem is that in several ocasions the size of tables gets too big that we end up having to delete old information or archive them, and I wanted to know about this before it becomes a problem.
    Thanks in advance and BR,

  • Solution Manager System Monitoring of a CE 7.10

    Hi
I am trying to setup a Solution Manager Monitoring Solution for a CE 7.10 Enviroment.
I have already setup CEN in SOLMAN.
I have registered CE Systems with a sapccmsr j2ee agent.
I have setup the JCO RFC Connection in CE.
I have created the TCP/IP Connection to the JCO Connection in Solman.
I have set the TCP/IP Connection in RZ21 as the J2EE Customizing Destination.
The solution involves only 1 Logical Component with 3 CE Systems.
When I go to the solution manager setup and try to configure the MTE Nodes for my solution I cannot get the MTE context while clicking in Activate Monitoring for other Software Components
I choose Java Application Server, choose my server, choose CEn but when i have to choose the context of the MTE i get an empty list.
IF i go Activate Monitoring for Other Servers and choose the server I get the contexts of the remote server, but I can only choose one.
So how can I see the context of the CE servers in the Software component part?
    Ty.

    Hi,
Have you defined and added corresponding logical systems for the respective satellite systems?
Here is the sequence of steps you've to do:
    in SMSY:
    1) Define server, DB, Systems
    2) Generate READ, TMW, TRUSTED RFCs to the satellite systems
    3) define logical systems and assign the satellite system to it
    in Solution_Manager:
    1) define new solution
    2) add the logical system into the solution
If these steps are successful, you should be able to see the satellite system in SYSTEM MONITORING in Solution_Manager.
Have you already done these steps?
    After performing these steps:
    Solution_Manager>choose relevant solution>operations setup>Solution Monitoring>System monitoring>Activate monitoring> choose the system and activate monitoring.
    Your system will then appear.
    Does this help any way?

  • Connection Solution Manager - Wily Enterprise Manager

    Hi all,
we want to use SOlutionDiagnostics to monitor our abap and java instances. First, we would like to connect a abap system
to our Enterprise-Manager and watch the results in solution manager.
In transaction http//solutionmanagerhost:port/smd we are able to connect manually to our enterprise manager und log in, but solution manager didn't find the enterprise manager. ( we got the message: all the enterprise manager are offline ).
What could be the reason ?
How is an abap system registered in Enterprise Manager ? For java systems you have to add addiontianl java parameters in configtool. But for abap systems ?
is there any howtoguide, how to connect systems to diagnostic and wathc the results in solman_workcenter für E2E ?
the solution manager diagnostic instance ist already installed and registered over http://>SOLMANHOST>:/smd/go/ADMIN_AGENT
    kind regards

  • Solution Manager Alerts

    Hi SAP Experts,
I am working on SAP R/3 4.6C version. We have Solution Manager monitoring the systems. The Solutions Manager keeps sending the alert messages about the working status of the system. The Alerts are as follws:
    - Oracle Buffers Buffer cache
    - Dialog ResponseTime
    -  Dialog FrontendResponseTime
    -  Dialog DBRequestTime
    -  Dialog Dialog FrontEndNetTime
    -  Dialog LongRunners
    -  Paging Page_In
    -  Paging Page_Out
    -  CPU_Utilization
Can anyone tell me the reason for these alerts and the solutions that need to implement to fine tune the system to avoid these Alerts.
Your help will be greatly aprreciated.

  • WLC Not Monitoring AP Status Correctly?

My 8510 HA pair running 8.0.110.0 doesn't seem to be monitoring the AP status properly. If an AP goes down or is otherwise taken off line, the total number of AP's on the Summary page drops by 1. It should show the same number of Total APs with the number of Up units dropping by 1 and show 1 unit down.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Dan

Similarly, I am working on a solution to monitor APs status through Catalyst 3850 switch, but I found the no specific traps are defined for AP status when AP goes UP/DOWN, only found the traps for ApIfUp/ApIfDown.
The Catalyst3850 supports CISCO-LWAPP-AP-MIB, only the following traps are defined under ciscoLwappApMIBNotifs, which are:
    ciscoLwappApIfRegulatoryDomainMismatchNotif(1)
    ciscoLwappApCrash (2)
    ciscoLwappApUnsupported (3)
    ciscoLwappApAssociated (4)
    ciscoLwappApPower (5)
    ciscoLwappApRogueApDetected (6)
    ciscoLwappApRogueApCleared (7)
    ciscoLwappApWipsNotification (8)
    ciscoLwappApNoDownlinkChannelNotify (9)
    ciscoLwappApIfUpNotify (10)
    ciscoLwappApIfDownNotify (11)
The Catalyst3850 switch also support AIRESPACE-WIRELESS-MIB, in this mib, there are two traps defined when AP goes UP/DOWN, which are:
bsnAPUp and bsnAPDown, but their status are 'obsolete' instead of 'current', and I can't trigger these traps, the only trap I got when disconnecting an AP is the ciscoLwappApAssociated trap, and it only generated after the AP rejoined the controller again, obviously it can't be used for my requirement.
Is there any way to monitor APs status via the switch/wireless controller in Catalyst 3850? what trap can I use?
    Thank you in advance.
