Solution manager, PI and ERP incl FICA (IS-U) test systems on same HANA DB server Appliance

Hello
I wander is it possible to have Solution manager, PI and ERP incl FICA (IS-U). All for test/system purposes:
I am sure we need separate application servers for Solution manager, PI and ERP incl FICA (IS-U),
I would have question regarding Appliance i.e Hana DB server. can Solution manager, PI and ERP incl FICA (IS-U) products reside on same Appliance i.e Hana DB server in MCOS or MCOD? (I am sure that for production use this is no-go option)
What is the case when renting cloud solution?
Thank you a lot in advance
Jan

Check the java part, most of the Solman Web Based thing use the java, check the management console to ensure message server and dispatcher proper work, normally is: http://hostname:50113.
If central note give you problems deimplement all the not complete implemented notes and use SUM
and MOPZ to update your system with the last SP, then apply the central note acording to your SP level.
We found that have the system in the last level prevents a lot of problems because of not complete implemented notes.

  • Relationship between Solution Manager Diagnostic and CCMS

We are just now looking at Solution Manager Diagnostics and central monitoring in Solution Manager.  One thing we are not clear on, and haven't seen anything definitive on, is the relationship between these  and CCMS.
Any insight or link to documentation would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Jeff Henke

Solution Manager Diagnostics is a diagnostic tool, not a real-time monitoring and alerting tool.  CCMS is for real-time monitoring and alerting, and SMD does in fact get data from your CCMS agents, as well as from saposcol and Wily Introscope.
    Hope that helps,
    David.

  • Solution Manager DEV and PRD box

In my landscape i have 2 systems for solution manager SMD and SMP , what is the ideal way sap community is using them ...should i divide the solman roles among them or how the 2 system landscape of solman is used ..
    Regards

    Hello Tiger,
In my experience many SAP customers have a one or two system landscape in Solution Manager.
For customers whose main line of business is providing service with the Solution Manager, I would recommend a three system landscape (dev, qas and prd). For customers who run less critical functionality with Solution Manager, and when costs of hosts for the Solution Manager systems are an issue, one or two tier system landscapes can be also considered. Other than this, I don't know any document with precise guidelines to answer your question. At the end it all depends on the scenarios you want to run, and how critical the functionality you run with Solution Manager is for your company.

  • Email and SMS Alerts - Solution Manager - PI and EP

    Hi All,
I am trying to do the below scenario.....But somehow i am lost in the process.
I have a three system PI landscape and a Solution Manager. I have included the DEV PI in solution manager for CCMS,the CCMS agents are online and it also reflects in RZ20.
Now the requirement is SOLMAN should send email and sms alerts in below situations which occur in PI system.
1.The ABAP or JAVA engine goes down.
2.One of the filesystem crosses certain predefined limit.
3.Any of the java server node stops working
4.If any critical job gets cancelled in sm37
I am looking at steps on how to define the alert categories, auto reaction methods, also the nodes where i have to assign these auto reaction methods.
I have gone through CCMS documentations, played all sim files and gone through most of the pdf files but i am not able to establish proper steps to do it.
    I am Redhat Linux,Oracle 10g, SOLMAN 7 with PI7
Can i extend the same for the EP systems also which are pure Java Stack Systems ?
Also i would like to know if i can send customized alert messages.
    Best Regards
    Raghu

    Hi Juan,
    Thanks for your response.
I am looking at the MTE classes i.e for the above situations which MTE classes are required.
Also i have read in some document that we can send the alerts directly to the email IDs and cell numbers without having to mention them in user masters in SU01. Where to mention these ?
I have my SCOT settings done for email servers.
The process which i had built up in my mind is all mixed up and i am lost where to do which configuration
    Best Regards

  • BPM, Solution Manager, XI and Workflow

    Hello all,
I read that in XI/P, BPM uses the Workflow engine.
I also heard about the BPM in Solution Manager.
What is the difference between BPM in Solution Manager and BPM in Workflow? Do both systems use the old Workflow engine?
    TIA

  • SAP Solution Manager - Learn and Use

    Hi All,
I have some knowledge in SAP ABAP. I am interested to learn about SAP Solution Manager and how to work in it.
Can anyone help me in this regard? If you have any documents or presentations, please let me know.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
First start with learning what solution manger can do.
    http://service.sap.com/solutionmanger
then click on Media library on left hand pan there first go through use case presentations, which will give an insight into possibilities.
    Then you can explore more.

  • Project management in SAP Solution Manager (SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN and RMMAIN)

Please help me to understand this better u2013 whether this is a gap in the functionality of the SolMan, whether I expect too much, whether it is expected to work in a different way.
In transaction SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN one can create a project.
In transaction RMMAIN one can create a roadmap u2013 this is a more or less detailed project plan that can even be exported to MS Project. Via RMDEF and RMAUTH it is possible to create a custom specific roadmap. This specific roadmap can then be assigned via SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN and RMMAIN to the newly created project.
However, it is not possible to modify the roadmap once assigned in SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN and created in RMMAIN.
This means, as a consequence, that it is not possible to use the Solution Manager as the one and only project management tool.
To specify this further. Usually, in a project, once you have created the roadmap and the overall framework you add all the detailed steps, and all single tasks that are required. As this is not possible in SolMan one needs to use other tools (MS Project) for this. But on the other side the SolMan project plan and roadmap has to be updated frequently to be able to keep track of the progress. So this ends in double work. Manual effort is required to keep this consistent. And it also hardly makes sense to create a new roadmap just to add these small details. With all this in mind itu2019s hard to convince our customers that the SolMan is really a that big benefit for implementation or upgrade projects.
    - have I overseen something?
    - has SAP designed this in a different way?
    - or does SAP oversee this need?
    Many thanks & best regards,
    Peter Müller

    Hi
    1) Is deleting older documents is definitely going to improve response time of searching. You said 'yes' but just wanted to double sure.
    Yes
    2) This program deletes all unsed and de-linked document. I can understand 'De-linked' but not 'Unused'
    i meant the samething
    3) Deleting documents based on user id is big problem. We have almost 800 Users in SolMan, who has used this project form last 5+ years. So all these 800 users have to go into multiple selection of user id
    Try giving *
    4) I tried this on our sandbox (SP19 Level) which has shown all unused documents which can be deleted. But this deletion has to be done one-by-one. In our production, if we have 10K+ documents, i assume almost thousand or more will be residing as de-linked in KW
    Try giving *
    5) Any Documentation available on this program.
Learnt by experience but you can check some sapnotes below
Note 1124579 - Using SOLMAN_UNUSED_DOCUMENTS to delete unused documents
Note 1377997 - SOLMAN_UNUSED_DOCUMENTS: No deletion conf. for each doc.
    Hope above clarifies

  • Solution manager, SLD and SAP MC

    Hello,
It seems that both System landscape directory and SAP management console have some overlapping features. The services can be started or stopped in both. Is it true? Does anyone know the difference between these 2 and where does Solution manager fit in?
    Thanks
    Shaiikil

We can stop, start SAP services from NWA. Now we cannot say Netweaver, NWA and MMC are similar...
MMC is a tool/enviroment provided by microsoft for starting stopping services, managing user rights, security settings, policies and so on...
this can never be compared with SAP Environment for similarities.

  • Solution Manager EHP1 and BW cubes

    Hi,
In solution manager , we have used the productive client as the BW client also. But we would like to know how the cubes are loaded.
I dont see any source systems in RSA1. Also all cubes look like Real time cubes.
So is there a concept of process chains in solution manager ?
Can someone provide more insight into it.
    Thanks,
    Tanuj

    Hi Tanuj,
It depends on which function area you are using. Incident Management reports, Test Workbench, Root Cause Analysis, Business Process Monitoring, and so on. But most of the case, data are loaded into BW Real-time Cube by using BAPI, which called from scheduled Solution Manager jobs.
For example, in case of RCA reports, the job named "EFWK Resource Manager" triggers BW data extraction.

  • Solution Manager key for ERP upgrade for the same system ID on a different

    Hi there,
We have  migrated our R/3 DEV system (4.7) running on Windows 2003 to 64 bit and copied existing system using system copy for testing ECC 6.0 upgrades. Both the DEV systems, with the same system id, will be available for a short period. However, the new system, which also has same system id i.e DEV is not created in the Solution Manager landscape, as the system id with the same name already exists. Both the systems are created in SLD.
Can anyone  clarify whether i can create the license key from the existing DEV system and use the same key for upgrade of DEV system running on different server? If not I will have to delete the current DEV system and create new DEV system running on 64 bit.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards
    Chandu

    Hi,
You cannot use the old solman key as systems are on different server.
I think you have to delete the old Dev system and then generate new solman key.
    Thanks

  • Solution Manager/Charm and Transport Dependency Check

    Hello Everyone,
I apologize if this question has an obvious answer.  I have searched SDN and could not get a 100% answer.
We are just now in the process of rolling out Charm/Solution Manager and I have noticed that it appears to not perform transport dependency checks.  For example, let's say I am working on object ABC and have completed my testing (ready for transport to production) and then another developer also starts development on object ABC.  When my change is moved to production, it will pick up the other developers modifications without giving a warning or an error that a dependency has been encountered between the two transport requests.
Does Charm/Solution Manager offer the option of producing a warning should a transport depedency be identified?  If so, will someone explain (or point me to the appropriate documentation) how this can be set up?
    Best Regards,
    Scott

    Hi Scott,
ChaRM supports imports from DEV->QAS->PRD by transport by transport requests level not by transport request task level. So don't worry(i.e., You can't import only your change of object ABC to production. It allows to import your change and other user's change of object ABC together to production).
This is how it works(if more than an user works on the same object):
    1. Requester creates a support message from satelitte system to report a problem.
    2. Service desk employee creates a change document because some changes need to be done on object ABC to correct that reported problem.
    3. Change Manager approves the change document. So a normal correction is created automatically.
    4. This normal correction is assigned to 2 developers(your scenario) like for an example DVPR1 and DVPR2.
    5. DVPR1 creates a transport request and does some changes on object ABC. So a transport task will be created for DVPR1 under that transport request automatically.
    6. When DVPR2 tries to do some changes on the same object ABC, a seperate transport task(not a transport request) will be created for DVPR2 under the same transport request because the object ABC is locked under the transport request. So DVPR2 can't create a separate transport request for the same object if any transport request is pending(not released).
    7. Now object ABC will have one transport request. That transport request will have 2 transport tasks(1 for DVPR1 and 1 for DVPR2).
    8. Each developer relases their transport task only(not transport request) once he/she completes his/her change on the object ABC.
    9. DVPR1 or DVPR2 will change the status of normal correction to "Development Completed".
    10. Now, IT operator or DVPR1 or DVPR2 can release the transport request. The transport request can be released only if all tasks are released under the same transport request.
(In this example: DVPR1 completed his change and released his transport task. Next DVPR2 completed and released his transport task).
    11. Finally IT operator import the transport request to QAS and PRD.
Hope you are clear now. Let me know if you have any doubts.
    Regards,
    Sanjai

  • Solution Manager IBASE and R/3 assets

    Hi,
In R/3 we have our Assets (tcode AS02) and we are using the tables ANLA, ANLB, ANLC, ALNH, ANLP and ANLZ.
We want to setup the IBase in Solution Manager with data from the R/3 Assets. What I mean is, how can we import the Assets from R/3 in the Ibase of Solution Manager.

  • Solution Manager BPR and ESR

I believe that SM documents business processes in the Business Process Repository while there is also the Enterprise Services Repository. Is there a link between the two? For using CE to orchestrate new business processes, I suspect it needs the business processes documented too. Does the BP's need to be documented in two places or is there a single repository shared? Leads to any info or documentation will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
as this is an 'old' topic (from January), I am kindly asking you to tell me how did you solve the problem?
I am interested in BPR content as part of Solution Manager. We also see processes for SRM,CRM,R/3 4.6c,R/3 4.7 and more. We see very little specifically for ECC 5.0
I also would like to know if ICO 150 or 160 packages have the content or is there another way you solved the problem.
    Thank you and best regards,

  • Difference between a Solution Manager project, and IMG project.

    Hello,
We are in process of installing and thereby configuring scenarios for Solman 4.
While reading about it on help.sap.com, I came across following:
    <b>
"<i>The Change Tracking function of Change Request Management allows you to track everything that relates to changes within the context of a Solution Manager project, or an IMG project."</i></b>
Please help me here by clarifying difference between two.
    regards, Shantanu

    Hi Shantanu,
Let us assume you have captured everything w.r.to an SAP Implementation project in Solution Manager and this project has gone live. Here all details relating to an SAP Project are captured in a Solution Manager Project. Solution Manager project acts as a container to hold all the details relating to the SAP Project.
Now when this SAP Project comes in the support/maintenance phase, whenever a small change needs to be done to this SAP Solution, it will be raised as a Change Request. This change request will be captured in Solution Manager (starting from the point when the request was raised from an end user as a support message, which eventually might have evolved as a Change Request). All details about this change request, its approval workflow, task control being transferred to different roles(people), movement of the request along the transport path, everything is captured and controlled in the Solution Manager Project.
So, we are clear about Solution Manager Project now.
    What is an IMG Project?
For each and every component involved in this SAP project, an IMG project will be created with the same name as the Solution Manager Project in the component systems. These IMG projects in the Satellite systems are the same as the normal Project IMGs which we use in any SAP Project to hold all details relating to an SAP Project w.r.to that component.
In the context specified by you, it has been told that any changes w.r.to a Solution Manager project or an IMG project can be tracked in CHARM. It is because any change that is requested w.r.to any component(say SRM or ECC) will result in a change in the details captured in Solution Manager project about that SAP Project, and also will result in a change in the details captured in the appropriate Project IMG (say SRM or ECC).
    Hope it is clear.
Dont forget to reward points for useful answers.
    best regds,
    Alagammai.
