Solution stack with Ariba Buyer, BEA Weblogic, Oracle

Has anyone setup such a stack? I am trying to implement that but am having some
issues with Buyer going thru Weblogic to the back end Database? How do i route
requests to Oracle from Ariba Buyer thru Weblogic?

How to access Support for BEA Weblogic?

Hi,
I want to log a case to oracle with regards to BEA weblogic. How do I do it? I tried logging in to My Oracle support as well as Oracle Metalink with my user id and password and it seems like I'm not a valid user. I have a CSI which I vaguely remembered entering during the user registration but after the registration, I have no idea where to associate the CSI with the support. Please help.

We are having a memory leak in a client using stateless EJBs deployed in cluster. The client is a Tomcat 6.0.18 with java 6 but it is reproduced using Tomcat 5 with java 5. The client is calling a Weblogic Server 10.0 making
calls to an EJB deployed in cluster that has two instances installed in two different machines.
The client works fine if we shutdown one of the server instances and so when the client is using only one instance.
Resuming the environment:
Client Side:
1 HP-Itanium machine with HP-UX.
1 Tomcat 6 with java 6 (reproduced with java 5)
Bea Weblogic client (wlclient.jar) for Weblogic 10.0.0
Server Side:
2 HP-Itanium machines with HP-UX
Bea Weblogic Server 10.0.0 installed in both machines
An unique domain
Two Bea instances (one per machines) associated to a Bea Cluster
EJBs deployed in both instances
We have monitored the memory consumed in Tomcat and we have noticed that the VM memory PS OLD GEN grows up permanently when we make tests having the two server side Bea Instances up. We have extended
the memory VM parameters in Tomcat client till 1G and it's only a way to delay the end: the free memory is empty, the GC is not able to free no more byte and the CPU is 100% consumed by the GC work. At the end Tomcat Client
doesn't accept more http petitions and must be restarted.
Besides, we have studied the VM memory in Tomcat using jmap and importing it using Eclipse Memory Analyzer. We have seen some strange memory blocks of several Mbytes that are always growing up and that are stored
under data structures in the package com.sun.corba:

MAke sure you have not set ANY environment variable related to Oracle / BEA / Java / LD_library path. Use the following script to unset / set the initial settings:

Cannot run BEA WebLogic 8.1 SP 3 with JDK 1.6

Hi,
Im using BEA Weblogic 8.1 SP3 trying to run a sample where a Robot from Kapow Mashup Server is called from a WebService hosted in the server.
The thing is that I keep getting a EJB Exception: : java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/StringBuilder (I attach the full exception below). I realised that by default the server uses the JDK which comes with the software (version 1.4) and that the class java.lang.StringBuilder is only available from JDK 1.5 onwards.
I have JDK 1.6 in my system, so in WebLogic -> Tools -> Application Properties -> JDK Home, I set that folder but still same exception occurs.
Through the Configuration Wizard I create a new “Basic WebLogic Server Domain” and in the step to configure the Java SDK I set the JDK 1.6 folder. However, when I try to start that server I get this error.

If I modify the settings of this new domain an pick a BEA Supplied SDKs, everything works just fine.

Even if it is a very naive question but I just cannot get it worked, what do you mean by using jdk 1.5 on client side?
I guess client side is completely out of WLS so the jdk to be used on the client side is not set in the environment.
However, the Exception Im getting is on the server side, when it tries to run the code automatically generated from Kapow Mashup Server 6.3. That code is embedded in a jar file, but it seems it makes a call to the java.lang.StringBuilder class which as said before, it is only available from jdk 1.5 onwards.
Should I contact Kapow Mashup Server support to see how the sample code is generated or I am missing something?

Should we use JDeveloperor VAJ with BEA Weblogic?

I work in an organisation that extensively uses Oracle, and we have brought in an Ecomerce solution that uses EJBs/JSPs on BEA Weblogic with an Oracle back-end.
We have used JDeveloper for stand-alone Java development previously and already have licences for this IDE.
The suppliers of our Ecomerce system use Visual Age of Java. They say that they are not familiar with JDeveloper, though they believe that the integration with weblogic is inferior to that in VAJ. They recommend that we switch from Jdeveloper to VAJ.
Obviously this would be expensive in terms of licensing and learning another IDE. Has anyone used Oracle JDEveloper and weblogic? If so, what is the deployment of EJBs to weblogic like, and is remote debugging available? We are very happy with Jdeveloper for developing stand-alone Java and Oracle Java stored procedures, so if the weblogic integration is at least reasonable we would like to stick with it.

Unfortunately, you cannot deploy directly using JDeveloper to Weblogic.
The only solution is to develop your EJB's using JDeveloper. Then use the EJB Deployer Tool that comes with Weblogic to generate the stubs and package and deploy the EJB.

Crystal Reports in Java with BEA Weblogic (test drive)

The question is: What is wrong with Crystal Reports or BEA Weblogic, when they are working together? And how can it be repaired? 
 
I have a project working with reports. Tried to implement it for crystal reports and found an interesting problem. Crystal Reports didn't work with BEA Weblogic as well as with other servers. 1-2 years ago we just took Tomcat and worked with it. Right now we are interested in working with BEA. 
 
Everything works, but much slower than other servers. The best explanation is just a my tries in the end of the post. I hope some clever man helps me to option Weblogic or at least explains what is wrong.

Oracle ifs and BEA weblogic

Oracle ifs and BEA weblogic
We have one application server with weblogic and and ifs 1.0.9 , and one db server with Oracle 8.1.7.
with the following configuration:
Web server
appl server with weblogic 6.0 and ifs 1.1.9
Oracle 8i Enterprise with interMedia text
We need to use the iFS API call for our application.
As I know, weblogic 6.0 support JDK1.3 but ifs 1.1.9 supports up to JDK1.2.
Is this configuration possible?
Any conflict if two version JDK co-exist inside same machine?
Any suggestion?
If I separate the appl. server into two machines, that is,
one server installed with weblogic, the other one installed with ifs.
How could I make use the ifs API call from appl. server?
Is there any configuration guides for this setting?

So it really comes down to the CLASSPATH. The iFS API is split among a set of .jar files, and some of the configuration information is stored in .properties files that are outside of these .jar files. All of this stuff needs to be in the CLASSPATH of whatever JVM is calling the iFS API.
The iFS API uses the Oracle JDBC driver to communicate with the Oracle database. This is another requirement. You can't use another JDBC driver; you have to use ours.

 I tried to install oracles xsql servlet (1.0.4.1) on bea weblogic 5.1 without

 in weblogic.properties I started with:

Does anyone know, is Oracle EPM version 11.1.1.2 compatible with BEA WebLogic 10.3? I know the recommended version is 9.2 MP3 for Windows 32 bit.
Do we need to get seperate license for WebLogic or is it included in this EPM software bundle?

Not sure about the licensing, its best to ask someone at Oracle, but I believe when you when automatic deploy 11.1.1.2 apps to Oracle10gR3 Application Server, it is actually referring to the Oracle Weblogic 10.3 Application Server, not the old Oracle (OAS) 10G Application Server, so it should work. You can also deploy to Weblogic 9.2 and IBM Webshpere automatically. I believe all other application servers may still be compatible but require a manual deployment.

As you can see weblogic complains about com.ibm.mq.jmqi.system.JmqiComponent, I googled JmqiComponent but dose not exists which is strange :P. Has anybody what is a reason for such a behaviour.

I would ditch the foreign JMS approach. There is a detailed example of how to use the resource adapter for the same goal here:
WebSphere MQ resource adapter and Weblogic - how?
While Oracle supports foreign JMS, IBM won't. The only pattern that both IBM and Oracle support is resource adapter.

Slow execution with BEA Weblogic MSSQL Driver from LD

Any ideas what 3-4 minute delay is from? The stack trace shows it is waiting on the db, but customer says same query executes 'fast' when not executed from LD.

I am seeing a strange delay while trying to retrieve data through a database view from MS SQL Server (version : 2000 - 8.00.760) using BEA Weblogic MSSQL Driver version: 3.3.43. Even when I am trying to retrieve a single string record, the query takes more than 3-4 minutes. All other data retrievals against oracle databases all complete within seconds.
I used p6spy to track the jdbc calls and it reports delay in excess of 3 minutes. If the same query is run from a sql analyzer or as a db ctrl in workshop, it returns in seconds. I tried Dataconect drivers also but same result. Changing the jvm also resulted in same behavior.
Even a stripped down query shows same amount of delay occurs:

IP address restrictions not working with bea weblogic plugin

We want to implement IP address restrictions via the Sun Java One Web Server admin tool for our application. We are using the Sun Java One Web Server to proxy requests via the Bea Weblogic plugin. However, we cannot get IP address restrictions to work because of the leading asterisk in the following NSAPI entry for PPATH of obj.conf :

I'm not sure what you're asking, but each Service directive should be on its own line. It is an error to have both a <Client> tag and Service directive on a single line.
