SOLUTION: stuck on "calling..." or "ending call..."

Symptoms:
The dialer is stuck saying "calling..." and hanging up leaves you stuck on "ending call.." If you switch to another app the dialer still seems to be calling even if you left it with "ending call..." on screen.
People calling you hear a ring but your phone doesn't.
Killing the dialer manually gets full dialer functionality back but you still cannot dial out or receive voice calls.
Cause:
You have no Mobile Data connection. Either under Settings > General > Network > Mobile Data is turned off or the network has blocked Mobile Data due to a fault or lack of calling credit.
Also, for the described problem you have Settings > General > About > Diagnostics & Usage > Automatically Send selected.
Solution(s):
Kill the dialer app - this may work for some, but the problem will likely reoccur.
Restart your phone - again usually a temporary fix (if at all.)
Backup, Factory Reset and Restore - definitely will work for a much longer period but a lot of hassle and not a permanent fix.
Go to Settings > General > Network > Mobile Data and turn it back on (if unintentionally switched off.) If intentionally switched off, toggling on then off works for some. Again this is a temporary fix.
If you have calling restrictions affecting Mobile Data, get them lifted / buy more credit.
If none of the above work, select Settings > General > About > Diagnostics & Usage > Don't Send. N.B. if this your permanent solution don't expect next year's iPhone X to be quite as good as you hoped - Apple need this information to spot software bugs and guide phone design.
Also, if any of the above fail to work, try killing the dialer and/or restarting the phone again before trying other options.
Why does this happen?
I can only guess the code running the Diagnostics is hard wired to send out via Mobile Data, the status of your WiFi signal makes no difference. Still guessing I would say that some sort of log file is filling up during usage of various apps. When this file is full, no further data can be sent an no further log messages can be collected. For example, the dialer wouldn't be to interested in browsing through the address book but it would want to log a call made, the signal quality and whether the call got dropped. If the log is full it gets stuck posting its first message when you hit the dial button..
So, toggling the Mobile Data setting might get some of the data out of the log file and certainly a complete Restore would clear it all but it would still fill up again in time. Really, it's just a choice between getting Mobile Data back on / lifting calling restrictions or switching off the sending of Diagnostics & Usage denying Apple vital information on improving their products.
Hope this is of help!
Best Regards,
Andy @ POSitality

My 4s is frozen on the ending call but I can't even put it in sleep or do - top button hard shut off. When I try to get to settings the icon takes me to a blank screen. Texting/email/safari -are blocked from connecting.

Has nothing to do with the SIM or master reset.  This has been done to my phone.  The SIM once and the factory reset many times over.  You all just sold us a bad piece of equipment and have us by the tail with our contracts so none of us can get a new phone without paying full price or re-upping our contract.  I just got off the phone last night with your high up tech people (you know, the hidden number we get once we tear into your support people enough), they went into my phone again and still didn't find anything wrong.  I about got fired from my job for not getting my calls and texts.  The BBB has now been contacted, and I feel your end should shore this up for all of us!

-My wifi connection is running strong
-All the devices run the same version of iOS

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. • XML Publisher report stuck at Calling XDO Data Engine...

    Hi !
I am upgrading a custom report from 11i to R12 , the report works fine in 11i but when moved to R12 the report is stuck at "Calling XDO Data Engine..." and then it doesnot parse the Template.
Below are the logs from the request:
XDO Data Engine Version No: 5.6.3
    Resp: 51234
    Org ID : 109
    Request ID: 29953138
    All Parameters: p_kombi=:p_orderno=:p_batch_id=521007
    Data Template Code: XX_TEST
Data Template Application Short Name: XX
    Debug Flag: N
    {p_kombi=, p_batch_id=521007, p_orderno=}
    Calling XDO Data Engine...
Please suggest what can be the issue?
I have checked both Data template and RTF template too. They are fine.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Alex!
    Thanks for your response..
Yes the concurrent job  keeps on running with this entry in the log file.
I have tried this option also of just uploading XML data template and getting the XML output but it is also the same.
There is no change in the XML file in 11i and R12 instance. Is it that some extra setups has to be done in R12?
The general settings of temp table is there, I have checked that.
    Thanks in advance

  • Phone frequently gets stuck on calling "calling"

    I'm using a LG VN250 Cosmos, switched from a VX8350 recently.
This phone doesn't have EVDO and the PRL is a different version.
I recently noticed that it will frequently get stuck in "calling..." before timer starts rolling.  Sometimes, it will go for about 90 seconds and "call failed" comes on.   I have this happen even when I have four bars.
i don't recall having this problem with my 8350.
Anyone else experience this? What can I do to fix it?  I've already done what 611 has got to say...
    *228, 2
    pull battery and reboot.

PDX_OR, thank you for sharing your concerns about your device. I would certainly like to help with this issue. Normally the steps you tried would resolve issues like this, so we will need to figure out whether this is a network issue or device issue. Do you notice this happening only in certain areas or everywhere you use the device? Did this start right after activating the phone?
    Please let me know.

  • Tried to restore ipod and it gets stuck at the very end

please help! i plugged in my ipod to recovery mode to get all the apps off and it gets stuck at the very end of the restore. ive tried it more than five times now please help!!

did you check your security software settings? http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3125 iTunes needs to connect to the Apple server during the restore process.

  • IPhone 4 - Proximity Sensor "stuck" while trying to end a call.

Hello, I have an iPhone 4 that is updated to 4.1. I noticed a few days ago, that when I am on a call (Phone) and I am done and I go to hang up, the iPhone is still in a blank screen mode, like the one where the screen shuts off when u bring it close to your face. and it is stuck on that mode until i hit the Sleep/Unlock button rapidly for about 3 seconds. then it makes the unlock sound and brings me to the lock screen. this is very annoying as with previous iPhones, you would press end call, but now the button isnt there because the screen is still turned off.
This however does not happen when i am calling thru my Apple headset

You have a problem in your phone that needs troubleshooting. Do the basic steps described on page 242 of the User Guide:
    Restart phone.
    Reset phone (no data loss).
Restore phone in iTunes using a backup (no data loss).
Restore as a new iPhone without using a backup.
If restore as new doesn't help, you have a hardware issue that needs evaluation by Apple.

  • IPhone is stuck in "calling" mode

I attempted to make a phone call to my spouse, and it went to the calling mode, but it is now stuck there. I am unable to hang up. Why is this doing this? How can I hang it up? This is ridiculous, because now I can't make any other phone calls from this iPhone. At least, not until I stop this call. If you have experience in this issue, please contact me and tell me what I must do. thank you

Can you see the screen? What happens when you press the "End Call" button? If you have a case on it, remove the case. Next, reset the phone by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

What you see here is the result of calls to the memory allocator being serialized through a single lock. This is described in the following SunSolve document:
SRDB 71583 - Threaded applications making heavy use of the memory allocator may scale poorly
However, this will not cause a deadlock, rather just poor scalability. The thread stack you supplied, illustrates a thread blocked in a call to malloc() waiting to aquire this lock. You should find another thread in malloc, free, memalign, calloc, realloc, or valloc which is not blocked on this lock. It will be holding the lock, and blocking the other threads...perhaps.
Would you be able to supply a full threadlist, such as an output from pstack?
Anyway, if you want to use a more scalable memory allocator use libumem as follows:
    $ LD_PRELOAD=libumem.so ./my_program
or if you are running an older version of Solaris you won't have libumem. In this case use mtmalloc, which for your purposes will achieve the same goal.....a proper multi-thread scalably memory allocator:
    LD_PRELOAD=libmtmalloc.so ./my_program
See manpages for mtmalloc(3MALLOC) and libumem(3LIB) for more information.

  • Another solution for the "caller can't hear me" pr...

Ran into a problem with my cell phone the other day...  I could hear the caller, but he could not hear me.  Also, the Voice Recorder would not hear me either.  All of which suggested the microphone was not working.
I rummaged the web, tried the various solutions I found (loudspeaker on and off; phone on and off; reset device--both soft and hard; removed battery and SIM, too), and even called AT&T customer service, AT&T GoPhone service, and Nokia (they all suggested the reset steps).  No luck whatsoever.  The general consensus was that the phone was a goner and I needed to get a new one.  I was actually told that 2-2 1/2 years is about what should be expected for a cell phone's longevity!
The problem began when I inadvertently hit the camera key in the middle of the call.  So, I even tried Mute on and off in the camera's video recorder
In any event, I finally tumbled to a solution when I noticed the inside light of the cell phone shining through its side, at the bottom.  If I pressed down or squeezed the case, the microphone started working again!  Turns out that the screws inside that hold the innards to the front of the phone had gotten quite loose.  They are accessible when you removed the battery cover.  One of mine actually dropped out when I took the battery cover off.  Once I screwed them back in tightly, the microphone was back working like a charm.
Note:  The screws have some of sort of mini-Allen head type crevice for their tops (a torx of some sort?), so you'll need to be careful with what you use to screw them tight.
In any event, I'm posting this here because this was not covered anywhere else on the web and the tech people at the various companies didn't know about it either.
By the way, before you ever do a hard reset, make sure that you've backed up your stuff first and, whether soft or hard reset, make sure that you write down which settings you've tweaked-- main display, icons, custom keys, etc.--because you'll have to redo them later.  That'll save you lots of time and remembering!
On the Mac, for backing up, you can use iSync even with "unsupported" devices--search around there are tips on how to dig into iSync's contents and add your device.  Again, though, I would try the other solutions first before resorting to that.

  • Stuck at call screen when sliding to unlock

ok so i been noticing that whenmy phone is in sleep mode and someone call it says silde to unlock so i do but when i am done with the call it still stuck at the call and i cant do anything so i have to turn off my phone then on. It only happenes sometimes but ites be happening more offen is there any way to fix this?

All of Apple's servers...including the activation servers are pretty much flooded with users like you doing the same thing. Be patient and keep at it...or wait till the traffic to them has decreased and then try again. Coming back to it tomorrow  (if that's a viable option for you) will likely increase your chances of not having issues.

  • Unity connections 9.1 "port stuck with call"

I am seeing this message in the error log: %UC_UCEVNT-3-EvtMiuPortStuckWithCallinfoOnly:   for a number of  ports. . When I look into the log some of these ports have ben up for a month .
the message is cleared by restarting the port,
This stuck port problem has been around for a long time we had it in ver 7.1, is there any way of making a port reset if it has been stuck on a call for say 24 hours?

    Hello chrbradf1,
You can set the amount of time for the watchdog to generate a log when the port would be considered locked, but there is no automatic way of restarting them on the CUC perspective neither on CUCM, there is also no provisioning for Tcl scripting therefore you will have to restart them manually.
Watchdog is under: Cisco Unity Connection Administration> System Settings> Advanced> Telephonny> Port Watchdog Threshold in Minutes.
    Port Watchdog Threshold in Minutes
Enter the time, in minutes, that a port can be off hook before it is considered to be locked. When a port reaches this threshold, Cisco Unity Connection logs an error. To review errors, see the Real-Time Monitoring Tool. We recommend a setting greater than 30 minutes.
    Default setting: 240 minutes.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/8x/gui_reference/guide/8xcucgrg110.html
Also consider that maximum time is 240000 minimum is 0 and value has to be integer.
    Examples:
Value specified (111111111) exceeds the maximum allowable value (24000).
Value specified (0.1111) is not an integer value
Value specified (-1111) is below the minimum allowable value (0).

  • Has anyone found a real solution to low call volume on the 4s?

Has anyone actually solved this issue? I'm really not sure if it's a hardware issue or a software issue, and I'm nowhere near an apple store. It started out of the blue about a month ago. Speaker phone works fine, but the earpiece is pretty much useless.

For software related issues you can try a backup and then restore. If you are unable to restore normally due to errors then you can try placing the device into recovery mode.
If the issue is not resolved by doing this then it is most likely hardware related. You'll need to arrange a service with Apple to have it repaired, if you are unable to get to an Apple Store you can call AppleCare you may be able to setup a repair over the phone via mail in/courier.
