Solution to common Windows 7 Xfi Elite Pro installation problem

Solution to common Windows 7 Xfi Elite Pro installation problems Hello,? I have just solved what I understand to be a common problem when upgrading a machine with an Xfi Elite Pro from XP to 64 bit Windows 7. Apparently the console control software for the "older" PCI Soundblaster cards for Win7 isn't done yet. If you've installed Win 7, updated the product identification module and run the new driver that you can find easily on Creative's support site and you still have no sound, try going to the Control Panel in windows. Switch the display to the "small icons" option and select "sounds".
Choose the "playback" tab. You should find a list of possible sound output devices that exist on your machine. You need to highlight the Xfi on that list and then click the "Set as default" button at the bottom of the screen. That should do it for you.
It did it for me.

C The 'solution' you provided only touches a very small fraction of the problems with Creative sound cards. Only very unexperienced users may not control which sound card is choosen by their operating system. Many of us work with PCs for decades, being used to modify the registry and so on. The drivers of Creative are of an unexcusable low quality.

  • XFI Elite Pro to Inspire 5500 speakers, no rear so

I have an xFI Elite Pro and some Inspire 5500 Digital Surround Sound speakers. If I initiate a test from the remote that controls the Speaker's "brain" I get all surround points working just fine, so I know they are connected properly from there. From the "brain" I have the /8th" cable that came with the speakers for a digital connection to a soundcard connected to the flexjack on the back of the soundcard part of the xFI and it is set to Digital I/O. Whenever I initiate a test from the Creative Software, when it says "rear right" and "rear left", it comes out the front speakers. I have the CMSS turned off . I have the decoding turned off on the sound card cause the speakers take care of the decoding. What am I doing wrong? Please help, thanks.

  • Bootcamp windows 8.0 pro installation issue with early 2015 Macbook Pro

I am having this issue with installing Windows 8.0 pro (and 8.1 pro) on my early 2015 MacBook pro vs. Bootcamp. I have tried different method for  multiple times and all failed. Any help is appreciated.
Hardware: (1) early 2015 MacBook Pro with 128GB (13 inches) , (2) Sony USB DVD burner. (3) Two 16 gb flash drive 2.0 version from two different manufactures
Software: (1) 8.0 Pro ISO on flash drive from Microsoft (I have two copies) (2) 8.1 Pro downloaded from Microsoft website.
Note -  I was able to download the bootcamp supporting files successfully and copy to a USB flash drive.
Method 1 - Create the installation disk from ISO on flash drive and also tried copying ISO on hard drive (desktop)- failed.
    I have a 16 GB flash drive (2.0V) connected
ISO is a valid 8.0 pro copy from Microsoft came on a flash drive.
I have the windows 8.0 pro ISO on a flash drive and plugged in.
Issue -  It gets to around 50% of "Copying Windows files..." and then doesn't go any further.  8 hours later, still stuck at around 50%.  I also tried to do the copy ISO from desktop. failed as well.
Method 2 - I repeat the above steps with Windows 8.1 ISO downloaded Microsoft website - failed. Stuck at 50% copying windows file for 9 hours.
Method 3 - I burned the Windows 8.0 pro ISO to a DVD and try to do the installation through a DVD instead.  DVD was successfully created.
I was able to perform the partition.  When the computer reboots, it starts the window installation. However, it got stuck at 7% forever. I tried this multiple times and failed.
Method 4 - I download a 8.1 Pro ISO from Microsoft website, I burned it to a DVD. Repeat method 3,  Again, windows installation stuck at 7%.
Method 5 - I called Apple. - What they told me is pretty much repeat the above steps. Still failed.

The ISO file(s) being downloaded seem to be corrupted. Can you use Microsoft FCIV tool - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/841290?wa=wsignin1.0 ?
The DVDs should be burnt at the recommended rate for the physical media. DU should be used for burning the DVDs.

  • Windows 8.1 pro installation for 13" Retina Display MBP

    Dear friends,
When i install Windows 8.1 pro to my macbook pro 13" retina display ME864, all the steps moved correctly but at the end the blue screen with finalizing your setting display came and its continued... i am waiting more than 5 hours.. but its same during this time i switch of directly power button and on but the same display is coming... there is no changes.. please help me what can i do? i am new to apple user

Thanks for the answer, but it solves only half of my problem.
I can get through the installation with the default key. But then I cannot activate the system. It tells me that the key is not valid (well, true, the default key). But how do I get it to recognize the key stored in the computer's firmware?
The Thinkpad has a "Windows 8" license sticker with just the Windows logo but no product key on it. This means, the product key is stored in its firmware memory.

  • Windows 8.1 pro boot problems

I upgraded my OS on a hp pavilion g6-1d73us from windows 7 home premium to windows 8.1 pro and ever since I have had boot problems. I took all the software off since I thought that might be the problem but the boot problems persist. The computer's self diagnosis helps but I still have problems. Is my laptop incompatible with windows 8.1? Windows 8.1 was a download and I still have recovery disks for windows 7. I originally thought the problem was incompatible software but now I am not sure.

    Hi @hifive11 ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I am glad you have recovery disks for windows 7, smart thinking. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion g6-1d73us Notebook and having issues with the Windows upgrade to 8.1. Here is a link to the drivers page for your product. I do notice there are drivers for Windows 8.The Updates you need for the system are the Chipset. These are located on the driver page link above.
One of the things that can cause an issue is things connected USB. The computer can not load the drivers so it causes an issue. Once the machine is up to date then return the USB devices.
Then I recommended to restore the BIOS to factory defaults. Here is a link to restore the BIOS.
You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook.
Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

  • Solution? CS 3/Windows 7- 64 bit installation problem

I found an answer for at least one of the MAJOR issues installing CS3 on Windows 7-64 bit ...
The problem: CS3 installation goes smoothly, but when trying to open Photoshop, you get a blank Photoshop window and an endlessly spinning curser. Also, no other programs will open, yet if you check the program files, they seem complete. You may even discover that one of the non-working programs is actually open (but not accessible to you) somewhere in the depths of your computer. An error message may eventually appear (if you are lucky), which reads something to the effect: "You cannot use this product at this time. You must repair this product by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or contact your IT Administrator or Adobe Customer Support for help."
Check this link for the solution, which worked for me after four weeks of frustration and three Adobe problem tickets that were declared closed without resolution of this problem:
    http://www.megaleecher.net/Flexnet_Licensing_Service
Short form is that the Flexnet licensing feature for Windows 7 is not set properly and prevents CS3 from registration/activation. It must read "start" and "automatic" - not "stop" and/or "manual." You get to Flexnet Licensing as follows: Start Menu>Run> (type in) services.msc>enter
Then double click FlexnetLic in the menu, change the Stop to Start (by clicking on the word) and the Manual to Automatic. Click save. Restart computer and launch any CS3 program. This should bring up the rest of the installation process beginnning where you enter your serial number(s). From that time on, for me, everything was operational and still is (Whoopee!!!!!!)
Side Note to Adobe: When I first encountered this problem FOUR weeks ago, I talked three different times with Technical Assistance personnel. The second of these three could have solved the problem - he had the right information, as I can now see. The problem: I could NOT understand his English. His accent was very heavy and the phone connection was terrible. He struggled as I did with such simple things as the word "start" where he had to literally spell it out four times before I understood what he was saying. We eventually got to the Flexnet screen and possibly could have solved the issue right then. But the communication process was so labored that it didn't work. I'm guessing now that a step was missed somewhere, because now all is okey dokey, after using the information in the above link.

Pat, thank you for your very prompt response.
Regarding my FLF files I will try the VLC Media Player as you suggested, thank you.
Now regarding the Flash Player being a browser add on in my IE, I checked through Tools / Manage add-ons / All Add-ons and it displays only Adobe Shockwave Object from the Adobe range of products. Adobe Flash Player is not an Add-on in my system.
By uninstalling it (when I was trying to install a standalone product), did I delete this Add-on from the available Add-ons from my IE?
And if I did that, how do I reinstate it? (As you said a standalone Flash Player would have its limitations).
    I would appreciate your advice.

  • Unattended Windows 8.1 Pro installation and Firmware integrated license key

I have a brand new Lenovo Thinkpad that comes with a Windows 8 Pro license. According to what I read, the product key for Windows 8 for this machine is integrated into its firmware so I should be able to install a Windows 8 or 8.1 on it without need of a
    product key.
The machine came preloaded with Windows 7 and a recovery set of DVDs for Windows 8. I want to do a fresh installation of Windows 8.1 directly. This is a pilot device for our new generation of PCs. Therefore I want to use an unattended installation that is
automated with a XML response file.
The problem is now with the product key. When I do not specify a product key in the response file, then the installation fails. When I specify some other key in the response file (such as one from our MSDN subscription) then the installation succeeds and
Windows 8.1 automatically activates itself - but apparently using that MSDN key and not the one from the machine's firmware.
How can that problem be solved?

Thanks for the answer, but it solves only half of my problem.
I can get through the installation with the default key. But then I cannot activate the system. It tells me that the key is not valid (well, true, the default key). But how do I get it to recognize the key stored in the computer's firmware?

  • G580 with Windows 8.1 Pro - Installer can't find Qualcomm atheros AR81 family ethernet controller

    Dear Support / Friends.
I am using G580 for the past 1.8 years. Over the last two days i am unable to connect to the internet using the Ethernet cable. The Lan Adapter is a constant Green/Orange Light. Tried reinstalling the AtherosLan(v2.1.0.21) driver, it says Installer can't find Qualcomm Atheros AR81 family Ethernet controller.
I have already rebooted the system by loading OS default in BIOS setup, removed the RAM modules for a while after switching off the laptop, but to no avail the problem still persists.
Surprisingly, I can connect to the internet only through the WiFi adapter.
Can any one help me resolve this issue, as I have been racking my head for solutions on the internet, including opening up the laptop and removing all the hardware components and re-assembling the G580.
Please help me fix this, as I have a feeling it is a software workaround more than a hardware failure.
    Thanking you in advance.
    Cheers,
    air_289

What interests me is the "LANDevice" listed. That is not present on my G580, even when showing hidden devices. I can not see mention of it anywhere on the net, would that be a possible indicator showing that Windows has remapped the LAN Device to some incorrect driver?
If I could see the Hardware ID from that device it would help me locate what it might be attached to. Right click on device, choose properties, then the details tab, then use the drop down to select Hardware ID, copy and past into your response.
    Good luck.
PS - while you are cleaning, look at the pins inside the socket - none should be touching or crossed over, would "short out" the port.

  • Xfi Elite pro problems

    Hi,
I'm having problems when using the external interface with nuendo. When i try and record the signal isn't getting into nuendo.its coming out of the speakers but when i try and record nothing is getting through and no signal on the transport bar either. Its probably really easy to sort but im new to this really.
    Cheers
    Andy

Maybe some of your settings in Nuendo is not correct ... have you read the "Nuendo Getting Started Quide : Tutorial #1"?
    ftp://ftp.steinberg.net
In X-Fi mixer panel, you need to just enable the source channel you're using (as you seem done since you did hear the signal through speakers already).

  • No Sound From Rear Speakers unless CMSS-3D is on XFI Elite Pro

    Hello Guys,
I have always had issues with my rear sound and nothing has changed. I am begining to think my sound card is broken. I bought this refurbed or open boxed directly from creative so maybe this is the reason? I want all the speakers to sound the same and even if I enable the CMSS3D they do not sound like the front ones. It seems distorted and not as clear and the volume is lower. Any ideas?

    Hello,
I am running into the same problem. I had a audigy and the sound test would not output sound to the rear or center speakers. I then tried an x-fi card - same problem.
I also tried a different set of speakers... I am pulling my hair out here. This used to work great, can't figure it out. When I run through the speaker test with the x-fi, I hear everything coming out of the front two speakers. It says "rear right" out of the front right speaker. It also says "front right" out of that same speaker.

  • 64-Bit Windows 7 Load Driver Installation Problem

I am new to Mac and have recently got my hands on a new 17" MBP.
The MBP is a 2011 model dating from about May.
Not wanting to step 100% away from Windows I want to install Windows 7 as well and run Mac OS.
I have tried installing Windows 7 32-Bit and it worked absolutely fine - no problems at all.
However, when I tried to install 64-Bit Windows 7 I ran into a problem very early on in the installation.
Before the part where you select the partition to install Windows on, I get a "Load Driver" message which reads:
"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now."
I cannot eject the DVD to replace it with the Windows Support DVD that I burned (which I assume has the relevant drivers on), so I am a bit stuck.
I tried googling and a few people suggested burning the disk at a slower speed, which I did and it made no difference at all.
The fact that 32-Bit works lets me know I am doing things right, there must be something about the 64-Bit that the MBP doesn't like.
Any help much appreciated. I have 8GB RAM and would like to use it all with both Mac OS AND Windows so 64-Bit is preferred.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi guys,
I have exactly the same problem.
I have a macbook pro 15 late 2011 and I tried for hours to find a driver for superdrive but nothing at the moment...
If someone could help us it would be great
    Thanks
