Solution to excess charges for Mobile Enhanced SMS

Finally some good news. I was originally told by a Telstra staff member in November that  the reason for these charges, was that my son was using premium services or entering competitions. I checked with him and he assured me that he wasn't,  so just before Christmas I decided to call Telstra again re these charges and actually spoke with Sylvia at the call centre and guess what? Sylvia knew exactly what I was talking about and gave me an easy fix solution right there and then. All I had to do was go to message settings and untick delivery reports, (how easy was that). Without asking Sylvia also processed a credit for the $51.60 on my previous bill.True to her word my bill arrived this morning with the credit and no additional Mobile enhanced SMS fees. Thank you Sylvia wherever you are

Thanks ChelseaDame for this solution regarding these charges that have suddenly appeared on my bill. I had ticked the box to receive delivery reports as I have been trying to troubleshoot on sms issues that I have been experiencing sine the 1/5/12..... which is still not sorted, regardless of the barrage of tests that I have conducted...... I will now untick this box to avoid additional costs being incurred - especially as I am currently running close to my cap limit due to the increase in texts that I have needed to make to sort the sms issue, I certainly was not aware that I would be charged a fee for this feature & will take this up with Telstra when I receive the call from the Tech Support Team. Thanks again for the background info :-)

import photos using iPhoto on your mac.
plug your phone in, open iphoto if it doesn't open automatically.
your device should open up in iphoto so you can view your pictures. click import all and you can choose to delete from device after import or not.

  • No solution for excessive charges - Verizon mobile WI-Fi Device

According to Verizon I somehow used 2.1 GB of data within a 4 hour period on 10/29/2013. I was not even using my computer for most of that time and what time I did use it involved absolutely nothing that would account for this data usage. Just surfing the net with no videos or downloads. When I contacted Verizon and spoke with a support tech they reviewed my usage for the month and agreed that it was extremely unlikely that I had used this amount of data within the time period indicated. None of that apparently matters though because I am still being required to pay for the overages incurred against my account because of this situation. Has anyone else encountered a situation like this?

So in other words Verizon doesn't take criticism at all, this forum is completely phony and nothing but a poor attempt at improving public relations, Verizon has absolutely NO concern for their customers and intends to continue to rip off their customers. (Comments discussing moderation removed) I assure you that as soon as my service contract has expired I will be leaving the "Verizon Family" ASAP and will NOT be back. I have dealt with Verizon for both DSL phone-line based internet service and Mobile Wi-Fi and have been screwed both times. I was with AT&T for 20 years and never had a bit of trouble. Unfortunately I moved to another state to an area not served by AT&T.

  • Connected to wifi but at midnight I am charged for "mobile data" on 3G (iPhone 4s)

I am on the Vodafone network and housebound. My iPhone 4s is connected to internet via wifi.
I have been incurring huge charges from Vodafone as a result of "mobile data downloads" ...which always occur at midnight when I am connected by wifi
I have had my phone looked at in a Vodafone store and they indicate that there doesn't appear to be any untoward apps on my phone.
I suspected the culprit to be the "Songpop" app and posted a message on their forum.
"Songpop" said this was a problem with my ISP but this has been ruled out as there aren't any drops in internet connection from by my ISP (they have looked at connection logs).
The official response from "Songpop" on their forum is that this an "Apple Support" issue. See here: http://support.songpop.fm/songpop/topics/playing_songpop_on_phone_via_wifi_but_i ncurring_download_data_charges_for_3g_useage?utm_content=topic_link&utm_medium=e mail&utm_source=reply_notification
Can anyone throw any light on this issue  as I have a very expensive bill to pay from Vodafone and I have not downloaded anything to my phone by 3G ...  and I rarely use 3G when away from home ... and if I do use away from home then I do not stream videos etc.
    Please help

Without looking at specific parts of your issue, here's how to turn cellular access off completely but keep your WiFi active:
Go to Settings > Airplane Mode and turn it on.
After doing that, go to Settings > WiFi and turn that on.
Then you will have WiFi and no cellular access.

  • Does anyone know that when everytime on the iMessage or Facetime, there will be an sms (global) send to Apple UK. I am charged by the local Service Provider for the global SMS.

Does anyone know that there will be an sms send to Apple UK whenever I on the iMessage (or Facetime on 4S)? I was informed by my Service Provider about this. They had charged me the global sms.
    Thanks

You will be charged for an International SMS everytime you "ACTIVATE" iMessage or FaceTime service. Using iMessage and FaceTime thereafter is free. It informs you through a pop-up window stating this fact everytime you try to activate any of these services.

  • I have international carrier charges for sms use when activating imessage would this be correct?

Well definitly give live chat a try.
If after that and having already phoned them, you can still not get anywhere, maybe contact the mods using this form:
If you fill in this form: http://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/4951 with a link back to your post for ref, the mods will get back to you. it can take up to 3 days.
But to be fair to the mods, give Live Chat a try first.

  • How are we charged for mms?

Does anyone know how at&t charges mms to our iphone accounts? Also, im sure an mms message is sent through data, how are we charged for that data because it doesnt show on my useage. Im just curious because I use alot of data as it is and im on an off network warning, so im not sure if I should be sending alot of mms messages.

It is not from your data account. If you do not have a text plan you are charged $.30 for an MMS and $.20 for each SMS. If you have a plan for 200 messages per month then there is no charge for MMS or SMS up to that number. Check your plan either on the website or call them.

  • Solar charger for ipad

Going on a two week camping trip and will not have electricty is there an approved solar charger currently of the ipad.

I'm seeing if the following setup works and would save hundreds of pounds I admit that charging the batteries may take a little longer than the other chargers. But if it save me 100's of pounds and also allows me to keep charging loads of battles for future use. Who cares.
Basically charger the 4or 2xaa batteries using the solar charger and USB battery charger.  Then use these batteries with the extender providing up to 10,000mah that should completely charge the iPad to full.

  • Charging for unanswered mobile phonecalls

Why to BT charge 21p to ring a mobile phone even if its not answered?  Recently I misplaced my mobile phone in the house, so called the phone to locate.  Ive been charged for this, even though I didnt get through to the messaging service, I just heard the phone ring and stopped after 3 rings.  Bit unfair?

There is a standard setup fee whether answered or not. Thought it was 15p ( and maybe 6p for first minute)

  • HT5527 Why is it that when I bought my first generation iPad in October of 2010 the Apple sales rep at the Orange County California store suggested that I pay $99 for Mobile Me "coverage" and told me it was a "one time charge".

Why is it when I bought my first generation iPad in October 2010 the sales rep at the Orange County California South Coast Plaza store suggested that I buy Mobile Me service for $99 which he assured me was a one time charge and now, of course, Mobile Me has been discontinued and I've been "forced" to move to the Cloud and I'm being provided with another year of what Apple calls complimentary service with the clear indication that in a year I'm going to be asked to pay again for something I paid a one time charge for two years ago?

Mobile Me was the successor to .Mac (dot mac) which was "free" to all users but for a limited time. It included a free email address @mac.com and an amount of what we would now call "cloud" storage that went by the name of iDisk. iDisk worked great but with only dialup service for me it was barely useful.
So I didn't think much of dot-mac but lots of people thought it was worth paying for, so they did. Apple wanted to make it even more useful and integrate it with their portable devices which we all know as iPads and iPhones, and assembled a team to make it all work. This was to be called Mobile Me.
They failed miserably. Lots of people including me looked at the final product and said "huh?" Unfortunately for the Mobile Me engineers, one of those people was Steve Jobs. He first humiliated them quite publicly, then disbanded the team, including firing at least one senior manager who shall remain nameless.
This was the rocky beginning of what is now called iCloud, which is the "free" service I should have explained. iCloud includes an email address @me.com, and the 5 GB of "storage" which aggregates things like iWork documents, your email, calendars, Photostream, and iPhone backups.
You can buy more storage if you need more than 5 GB, but if you have more than that it's still free through September 2013.
What happens if you have more than 5 GB stored on iCloud and on September 2013 you don't pay? I'm not sure, but you have a year to think about it.

  • T-Mobile UK now charging for tethering!  Is there a workaround?

I have been using tethering for a few months on my iPhone 4, mostly for email access and limited internet browsing.
Yesterday I got a shock. I hooked up as normal but instead of being able to browse, I got a T-Mobile intercept page forcing me to but Pay-As-You-Go mobile broadband access. £15 a month or so, which would double what I pay today.
It seems T-Mobile wants to jack up charges to its users having just lost its case to slash monthly limits from 3Gb to 500Mb; hence the introduction of this new set of charges.
However, I'm intrigued as to how they do this. I had previously thought that all T-Mobile can see is a datastream and can't tell whether you are using your iPhone or your Mac (although you can guess based on the amount of data consumed). I'm guessing that they are looking at something called the user agent string, which tells you things like OS/Browser etc and I suppose could be used to define when you are using the iPhone and when you're using the Mac. I'm guessing, too, that it could be pretty easy to 'spoof' the user agent stringso T-Mobile think you are using the iPhone when in fact you're tethering.
I guess that there's a possibility that all the networks will try this on as a way of increasing their revenues. Pretty rich when I've bought - in theory - free, unfettered internet access as part of the package from them.
What's the prevailing wisdom here about whether there are sensible and effective ways round T-Mobile's latest attempt to gouge more out of its customers.
    Richard

Regrettably there is no legal way around this. All UK carriers have been charging for tethering unless it has been part of the contract. Where you are on a contract with x amount of downloads for the iPhone, the contract states that it may only be done on the iPhone itself. Once you tether, you loose your download levels for the iPhone.
For what it's worth, I think the whole thing stinks. Barring gamers I can think of no-one who actually uses the networks to their full download limits per month and this is simply another way of trying to fleece the customer. Another reason why I dumped T-Mobile two years ago.

  • Does Apple have a 12volt mobile charger for the Air 2?

I am looking for a 12 volt mobile charger, for my iPad Air 2.

12 volts would destroy the iPad.  Its 12 Watts at 5 volts.
