[Solution] Wi-fi bug fix "Sync will resume when... is available"

http://cnx.com/?p=1612
Download an iTunes installer directly from Apple. Do not try using Apple’s software update; that way lies madness.
Completely and totally uninstall iTunes. Do this from the Control Panel’s “Programs and Features” or through an uninstaller like CCleaner. I did the latter.
Run the registry cleaner to get rid of the references to the old copy of iTunes completely. This should be automatic if you choose to “fix issues” (or similar language) from your registry.
Reboot the computer, just to be safe.
Install iTunes fresh from the program you just downloaded. This should make for a nice fresh install.
Enjoy

Oh you goodies tushoos, I got sync working without it. Out for everybody? I aint playing a fair game waiting for it to be released just to be a goodies tushoos.
I got iOS 5, i got iTunes 10.5. I didn't post a question for someone to say that i can't do it. Your obviously jelous...
Now you'll have to play the waitung game, nobody here can help you, because the software is not out yet in public.
Jealous? No, I can wait, plus, I have a working phone that will sync.

  • IPhone 5 will not sync over wi-fi, "sync will resume when PC is available"

I have been struggling with this issue for the last several days and I have yet to find a fix. I can sync my iPhone 5 (iOS 7.1) with my Windows 7 PC using the USB cable, but I am unable to get wi-fi sync to work. I am running the latest version of iTunes (11.1.5). Shortly after I start iTunes my phone appears for about 10 seconds with a swirly activity wheel, which then freezes and the phone disappears again. If I try to manually initiate a sync from the phone, the "Sync Now" button is greyed-out and it says "Sync will resume when "HOME-PC" is available".
My phone can connect to the wi-fi network and access the internet just fine, and syncs via cable no problem. Home Sharing is on and my phone can access the iTunes library. It appears that iTunes can see my iPhone on the network, but just can't connect to it. It doesn't matter whether the phone is connected to power or not. I did have wi-fi sync working in the past so something must have broken it, I'm just not sure what or when.
I have searched here and elsewhere on the internet and found a lot of people with similar issues, but none of the posted solutions have worked. Steps I have already tried:
    Restarted iTunes/PC/iPhone/router in various sequences.
Unchecked/checked "Sync with this phone over wi-fi" setting.
    Stopped/restarted Bonjour and AppleMobileDevice services.
Full uninstall/reinstall of iTunes and all Apple software with registry clean.
    Reinstalled Bonjour services.
Assigned static IP addresses to iPhone and PC.
Disable/enable IPv6 on my network adapter and router.
Checked Windows firewall settings, disabled Windows firewall.
Checked all of my router settings...I was using DD-WRT firmware, reverted back to factory Netgear firmware.
Backed up the iPhone, erased all settings and content, set up as new iPhone then restored from backup.
Any ideas? Something really simple I missed? Please HELP!

I don't have an answer for you but from my experience iOS WiFi syncing has always been a hit and miss affair (more miss than hit I'm afraid). I have gotten to the stage where I rarely use the WiFi sync. It is just quicker, easier and much less stressful to use the USB cable. I am having the same issues with all the iOS devices in our family which includes various models of iPhone, iPad and an iPod Touch and have been having them since WiFi syncing was introduced (in iOS5 ???). And then I have not even mentioned my favorite iTunes syncing messages: "Waiting for items to copy" and "Waiting for changes to be applied"!
iTunes is always extremely quick and eager to pick up the devices but as soon as I click on sync it shows "Looking for iDevice" and then the device disappears. I have found that initiating the sync from the Settings app on the device prevents this issue.
It does however seem as if it is worse with Windows 7. I did not have so many issues with my previous Windows Vista PC.
Sorry I cannot be of any help.

  • HT2188 Unable to see Wi-Fi status. After Settings General iTunes Wi-Fi Sync it displays "Sync will resume when R300764 AHWR001 is available". This has happened ever since I got my iPhone 3G  3 months ago. Any suggestions? Thanks

Unable to see Wi-Fi status after connecting to power source.  After tapping Settings > General > iTunes Wi-Fi Sync, the message reads: Sync will resume when "R300764AHWR001" is available. Could someone tell me how to sync my iPhone 3G to ITunes, please? Thank you. Jan

iPhone 3G doesn't support Wi-Fi sync or IOS 5.1.1. You have to connect to iTunes using the dock connector to sync.
Unless you have a iPhone 3GS or jailbroken.

  • TS4062 How do I get music on iPhone w/out downloading from Cloud? Error "sync will resume when "computer" is available." Tried syncing music w/ cord, w/out cord; only purchased music, only a few songs. Restarted devices & both are updated w/ latest softwa

How do I get music onto my iPhone without having to download it from the Cloud? My iPhone gives the error "sync will resume when "computer" is available" on the final step of synching. The computer says "waiting for changes to be applied" but the phone doesn't have the two little sync arrows anymore. Seems it will stay like that for hours if I don't cancel it. I've tried syncing the songs with the cord & without the cord; using only purchased music or only a few songs. I've restarted both devices & both are updated with the latest software. My phone says it hasn't synced in 5 months, even though I've tried. WiFi is working. I've tried checking and unchecking the box in iTunes. I've turned Windows Firewall on/off. Ran the diagnostics in iTunes. Nothing seems to work. Help!

    Hello Megurine Lockhart,
I would recommend re syncing the music to the phone from iTunes by unchecking the sync music checkbox in iTunes, sync, then re check it and sync again.
For reference this is what I mean:
    Syncing music
Connect your iPod to your computer and open iTunes.
Select your your iPod in the Devices section on the left side of the iTunes window.
In the main iTunes browser window, select Music.
Select the option to Sync Music. You may also select "Include Music videos" if you would like to sync Music videos to a device.
From: iTunes: Syncing media content to iPod
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1351
The article references an iPod but its the same for an iPhone.
    All the best,
    Sterling

why does my iPhone 4 always say "sync will resume when "... MacBook Pro" is available??? i can't seem to sync over wifi

    Try the following:
    1. Connect the phone to your computer using the USB cable and let it sync.
    2. Uncheck "Sync with this iPhone over Wi-Fi"
    3. Click Apply
    4. Check "Sync with this iPhone over Wi-Fi"
    5. Click Apply
    6. Quit iTunes
    7. Disconnect the phone from the USB cable
    8. Make sure your phone is connected to your Wi-Fi network
    9. Open iTunes
iTunes should see your iPhone and connect to it. Go under Settings > General > iTunes Wi-Fi Sync and see if you can initiate a sync.

When I try to sync my phone using WiFi, it will not sync and the following message is displayed: "Sync will resume when "*****" (my old computer I no longer have) is available."  I have synced several times on my new computer using the USB cable, but the message also gives the date of the last sync months ago, when I had the old computer. Any ideas?

I know you can't help with my Yahoo problem, however, apparently at some time in the past I have went to the Sync and tried to figure it out on both my laptop and my desktop, because I have the long snyc key information. However, when I go to try to sync both computers I never get the box to enter that key on either one. That is my problem. So should I try and get a new sync key and see if that works.

  • Ok just updated my iPad 2 to the new OS 5. Now it wont sync to my iTune on my iMac by Wi-Fi. The only thing it's saying is (Sync will resume when "name of computer) is available.

Ok just updated my iPad 2 to the new OS 5. Now it wont sync to my iTune on my iMac by Wi-Fi. The only thing it's saying is (Sync will resume when "name of computer) is available. Now WHAT?

Upgrade to Snow Leopard - it's compatible with the latest version of iTunes, and still supports PowerPC applications.
    $19.99 - http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Snow Leopard is required if you wanted to upgrade to Lion, anyway, which you may want to in the future if the latest version of iTunes no longer supports Snow Leopard.

  • TS4062 I purchased a new desktop, downloaded iTunes, & authorized the new computer in iTunes, but, I can't sync with the new computer because I get a message that says "sync will resume when Owner HP is on-line. That was the old computer.

I purchased a new desktop computer, downloaded iTunes, authorized the computer thru iTunes, but, unable to sync with iPad3. I get a message stating "sync will resume when OWNER HP in on-line. That was the old computer, which no longer has iTunes on it. What can I do?

You still have to make the new computer and the iTunes library the new syncing library. Did you transfer all of your content into iTunes yet or copy the iTunes library from the old PC to the new one?
If you no longer have the old computer and did not copy the iTunes library to the new one, read this user tip.
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141
If you did tranfer everything over, you probably have to set up WiFi syncing again in iTunes in order for the iPad WiFi settings to see your new computer.
