Solutions for connecting dual screens to MacBook Pro?

Anyone have any solutions for connecting TWO (2) individual displays to a MacBook Pro?  I am currently using "Matrox Power Desk" but this thing *****!  I have two Apple 23" Displays (they're older, probably from 2006ish) and want a better method for connecting them both to my MacBook Pro.
Any suggestions are appreciated!

The Matrox MXO is a pretty good solution.

  • Solution for sharp edges on Retina MacBook Pro

The sharp edges on the front of my new Retina MacBook Pro (late 2013) drove me crazy cutting into my wrists.
My solution is two pieces of self sticking velcro - the loop kind of velcro which is soft. Apply them across the top and down the front edge on either side of the trackpad all the way out to the side edges. They are not too thick so as to prevent sleep when closing the cover. They don't look too bad either. I'd say they match the black keys on the keyboad.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process (Finder) in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
In the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the crashed process. The report name starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

Any other suggestions or things I should know about apple products in Ireland.  I know there are no Apple stores there.
An adaptor doesn't burn out. It merely serves as a means to connect the power prongs on your device to the power supply.
I believe you are thinking of a transformer, which you do not need. A transformer converts one voltage to another.
You don't need to do that as the power supply of modern electronics can take almost any worldwide voltage.
Look at the label on the device. It should indicate the input power acceptable of 100-240 VAC, 50-60 Hz.
Additionally, I found the adapters cheaper in the UK than I found them in the US. They were available in most supermarket chains. I wasn't in Ireland, so I can't say one way or the other.
If you have something that doesn't have that input power spec, it would require a transformer.
On other items like electric clocks or things with motors, you can connect them up to a transformer and the voltage will be correct, but the frequency may not. For clocks, that will cause them to not keep time well. For motors, they will burn out.

I doubt this can be relocated or moved so you might want to just repost in the macbook pro area.

Can you afford a new Thunderbolt case and cable? any case with FW800 is going to be slow 72MB/sec and less, and any new 1TB drive is capable of 75MB/s minimum up to 125MB/sec.
Thunderbolt storage can of course when setup properly reach 100's of MB higher using multiple drives.
Use what you have for a system backup or for secondary backup storage.
you might be able to take the drive - most cases allow you to open and swap drives - and use this:

  • Help Connect my Mid-2009 Macbook Pro to my new YAMAKASI CATLEAP Q270 SE 27" LED 2560X1440 WQHD DVI-D Dual Computer Monitor

    Hi,
I am trying to connect my Mid-2009 Macbook Pro to my new YAMAKASI CATLEAP Q270 SE 27" LED 2560X1440 WQHD DVI-D Dual Computer Monitor.  I am not having a lot of luck.
    My machine:
    OS: Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53)
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB
Processor:  2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
I am trying to connect it using the:
Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter
    DVD-D HDMI cable
YAMAKASI CATLEAP Q270 SE 27" LED 2560X1440 WQHD DVI-D Dual

    Here is what is happening.
    1. I connect the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter + HDMI Cable to Monitor
    2. Main monitor powers up like it is trying to display
    3. Laptop Monitor displays second part of desktop
    4. I can never get the Yamakasi to display a picture
Here is what I have tried:
    1. Different HDMI-D cables
    2. ATLONA AT-DP400 Dual Link DVI to Mini Display Port Converter
    3. Zapping the P-Ram
    4. Powering monitor with laptop closed
    5. Forcing the system to see the second monitor
    The nearest I can figure:
    - The laptop does see the catsleap (it displays resolutions I can set it to)
I am completely stumped, I was hoping someone could advise me.
    Thanks,
    Don

    Hey Kytarx,
I found the winning combination this weekend.
    I tried:
    - Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter
    - ATLONA AT-DP400 Dual Link DVI to Mini Display Port Converter
    - Monoprice Mini DisplayPort | Thunderbolt® to HDMI®, DVI & DisplayPort Adapter
    My experience:
    - Altona didn't work at all, and their support claimed it would not.
    - Monoprice didn't work to Dual DVI, it did work to HDMI (great price I wish it did)
    - Apple Mini Displayport adapter did work, but would only work with certain USB + Display port combos.
The thing that was tripping me up was that two of the Dual DVI-D cords were bad.  Once I found the working cord, it was easier to find the working adapter.  The experience I did find to be a frustrating / expensive one. However, the Monitor itself is beautiful.
    Hopefully this helps someone else..

  • What is the direct connect method for transfering photos from my macbook pro to my iphone without using iTunes syncronization? (iow: a simple photo copy from mac to iphone?)

I feel like I should know the answer to this. I can't believe it is a hard question.
What is the direct connect method for transfering photos from my macbook pro to my iphone without using iTunes syncronization? (iow: a simple photo copy from mac to iphone?)
    Easy? Right?
Just plug my iphone in to a mac and copy a photo from the mac to my iphone.
I don't have internet access - I can't email it, or mobileme it, or dropbox it.

iTunes. Other than that there is no direct method. However, do try the iPhone forums.

  • It is safe for me to charge my macbook pro with my ipad adapter connected to my macbook pro charger?

I use a Malaysian adapter for my iPad 1G and connect with my Australian Macbook Pro 13 to charge and I find it heating up quickly. Is it safe? They are both official Apple products non of them are fake chargers and adapters.

It heats up and the battery runs down fast when the computer is working hard.  The harder it works, the hotter it gets, and the faster the battery runs down.  How it was charged should make no difference.  Have you recently changed the way you use it?  Have you started encoding video, or using Boinc?

It is not about payment of $19.95 (Igalsses) or $7.99(webcam settings). This is a very basic setting that should be available in the system settings. The automatic setting of the internal cam does not work great on low lighting as everyone is aware.
i am just amazed how users take in lying down and suggest solutions such as paying for a 3rd party paid app or improving the lighting in your room.

  • IPad keeps connecting and reconnecting on Macbook Pro using USB.

For the past month or so my iPad hasn't been able to connect to my 2013 Macbook Pro. I've tried solutions such as reinstalling iTunes and updating software but nothing has worked. I can connect to my PC fine but when I try to connect to the Macbook, it keeps quickly connecting and reconnecting. When I connect to the Macbook it gives me the message "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. This device is no longer connected.". This seems to be a problem with the Macbook instead of the iPad. I haven't enabled it to connect over Wifi also.
I've tried looking up solutions for people who have had similar problems but I haven't yet found a solution that worked for me. Any help is much appreciated.

    Hi,
I purchased Huawei Dongle and trying to connect with my new MacBook Pro (OS- Mountain Lion) USB port 3.0 but unfortunately it does not support.
When I plugged in my macbook the power is flowing in dongle due green light blinking twice in every 3 sec but no connection found or diver shown.
Please let me know how I have to use it. I got some suggestion for USB hub 2.0 but It does not make any sense and driver installation.
So please suggest proper direction to use it and provide link to install any driver.
    Thanks
    Tauheed Ahmad

Yes Clinton I did same, but they were (Huawei customer support) surprised about this problem, They behave like they have no idea about USB 2.0 and  3.0 knowledge. They handsUp that reason I posted my problem in this forum.
So is there any better solution to use any mediator between these USB version handling, Please let me know.
    Thanks

  • Disconnect or connect the bluetooth makes MacBook Pro restart.

    I have a MacBook Pro 13 inch, mid 2010, running OS X 10.9.2.
Everytime (well, most of everytime) when the bluetooth disconnects from my wireless device,
    Such as:
    *Out of bluetooth distance
*Manually turn off bluetooth connection on macbook pro
*Switching off bluetooth on mouse (means connection dropped with the mac's bluetooth)
*Bluetooth device out of batteries (means connection dropped with the mac's bluetooth)
*Connecting bluetooth mouse to macbook pro
*Turning on bluetooth (and then when its auto trying to connect to bluetooth device)
From all the incident above, not all at a time, but time to time, performing one of the event above will cause my MacBook Pro to restart / force restart it self.
Sometimes it comes with an white error note screen after restart, asking press anybutton to continue. Anything related to bluetooth disconnecting and connecting makes mbp restart and it's really getting me annoyed and frustrating.
My macbook pro just out of the service center less than six month ago, replaced / fixed / tested all the parts for the best condition as it should, no problem at time. Just found or realise this bluetooth issue last two months. Been looking some websites seems like no issue arround similar to this, so here I am with this thread.
I wonder anyone else suffer from this, or some expert will have some magic advise to fix this issue? Software or hardware problem? I hope it is not hardware as I just literally have all brand new hardware since last service. The problem should not come this soon.

did you try to Browse Device on Mac Bluetooth at the top-right corner? I faced the same problem but it was worked after I made macbook find my phone bluetooth.

  • How should I connect yamaha HS50m to macbook pro

how should I connect yamaha HS50m to macbook pro? Does macbook pro with i7 processored have an enough sound card for yamaha studio monitors?or will I need an external sound card or mixer?

Some mikes have sufficient output to connect to this port, Alexey, but most don't. the solution, if you really want to use this particular mic, is to obtain a small battery or mains powered pre-amplifier to connect between the microphone and the line -in input. Alternatively there are devices which will allow you to connect your existing mic through the USB port. If you have an amplifier with a mic input already you could also use this as an intermediary, though it won't be very portable, of course!
You may find it cheaper to simply buy either a USB or "line level" mic, though.

  • Can't connect to internet via MacBook Pro to Airport Extreme

I can't connect to internet via MacBook Pro to Airport Extreme. I reset AE and modem (power down and back up again). Some computers on my home network will connect fine and others won't. The ones that won't don't populate the DNS server or the Search Domains. AE shows up on all the machines. I have one computer also connect to AE via ethernet and it has the same symptoms. Why do some Macs connect and others don't. Even when I get them to connect when I shutdown or put in sleep mode over night I lose the internet connection and have to start all over. Very frustrating.

Regrettably no replies. I have struggled with this for days with no success and I have given up on the Airport Extreme. I have found several other Forum posts with very similar problems and no one seems to have a solution to this. It seems other wireless routers work better than the Apple product. I was able to get my old Linksys wireless router reset and it is set up and working well. The Linksys router does populate the DNS servers and domains where as the AE does not. Apple engineers should look into this. If I am mistaken and there is a fix for this someone please let me know, otherwise my AE will probably appear on Ebay very soon.
