[solved 2] Weird google behaviour since firefox upgrade

Note that I am using a Mozilla build as the Arch version does not work with my preferred interface language.
Could somebody with a current version of firefox possibly tell me if https://www.google.com/webhp?hl=cy loads correctly or not? Be ready to close the tab/window if it seems to keep loading over and over, though.
Note that this will load Google's home page in Welsh so the fact that all the words look funny is expected and not the problem I'm concerned about.
If it works for others, I'll start troubleshooting but I'd like to know it is just me before I do so.
The English page works fine. It is really quite odd.

OK. Not so solved. If I am logged into my google account, certain google pages load and reload and reload. Fast enough that google thinks I'm a badly behaved bot and bans me until I fill in a captcha.
I can reproduce it with the main search page in other languages (UK English, US English) and with search results pages and with some other google pages but not all.
The problem is not specific to one machine. I can reproduce it on a Fedora box running a Fedora build of firefox (theirs works in Welsh for some reason though Arch's doesn't).
Clearing cache and cookies doesn't solve the problem except that it logs me out of my account so the problem only manifests later.

  • Cannot access my google calendar since recent upgrade

I operate an iMac. OS 10.6.8. I have used FIREFOX successfully for years. I have placed my google calendar in Firefox--perfect performance even to my Palm Pre Plus. I upgraded FIREFOX to version 6.0.2. TROUBLE! I cannot access my calendar since the upgrade. If I select the icon for FIREFOX, what I see on my screen is:/Screen shot 2011-09-09 at 9.18.03 PM.png--or, LOADING, For slow connections, load read-only view. When I select that, a long delay and I can only view the current month, nor the last month nor the next month nor the WEEKLY view, which is my favorite.

  • [solved] laptop - weird keyboard behaviour

    Hello,
since upgrading to kernel 3.2.1.1 (same with 3.2.1.2) I have a weird keyboard behaviour.
I have to press ESC to leave this weird mode.
    This problem is similiar to
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=86026
Do some people have the same problem?
My laptop is Dell Vostro 1310.
// ok... this never was a kernel software issue
// my keyboards shift was just a bit... loosely

same for me, for about one week, on 2 different systems. I'm using KDE4 but some other people reported this problem on Gnome too. It generally stops when I strike the key again a few times.
It happened when I showed someone how cool Linux was, and then it opened 60 occurences of the same images I wanted to cut and paste...

  • Strange 3GS behaviour since iOS4 upgrade

I've searched through the posts here, and can't find reference to the various issues I've experienced since the upgrade 2 days ago:
    1. Most of the time, in email, text or Safari, the phone does not toggle back to portrait mode once it gets to landscape (who said there's no lock for landscape mode...anyone want to trade phones?). The only way to get it back is to turn the things off and on a few times (turning it 360 degrees or shaking the heck out of it sure doesn't work). This is VERY annoying and has never happened before.
    2. I regularly get a password prompt from home wifi, but then the [CORRECT] password is not accepted. Wifi works perfectly everywhere else, and on the Mac Book, but only about half the time at home. It used to work fine. Anyone else seen this issue?
    3. This is one many others seem to have experienced, but the phone & applications run very S-L-O-W & sluggish. It takes noticeably longer to do a lot of things.

it will definitely improve your wallpaper resolution.
as to everything else, i'm not too sure.
i did not notice this kind of degradation you're talking
about on my 3GS or any difference after re-syncing the photos.

  • Since firefox upgraded to to 3.6 version, google video chat no longer works - freezes and sound is distorted.

The sound now on google video chat is distorted and I freeze - very annoying as use it every day and used to work perfectly....no answers from browsing your supposed help section.

If this erros still I think you need re-install Firefox with lasted version. Good Luck !!!

  • Since firefox upgraded to 33,0 in the google search if I clicked it would come up with sites i have used , it doesnt seem to do that anymore , anybody know why

There seems to be some item similar to my query but not quite, what is similar is in my question when using the google search box , you used to be able to click and it would show sites you have used, this doesnt seem to work anymore , you have to try a letter but the site that are suggested are not what i use,
Anybody have any idea what may be causing this or is it something to do with the settings in options , i tried that but could see anything that i could change .
    thanks for any help

hi happy80, i think this is because the search box on the homepage or a new tab will now show you suggestions provided by google once you start typing...

  • I used to be able to click on an URL in my email program ( Eudora) and it would open up in Firefox..it doesn't do that now, since Firefox upgraded itself

since there has been a recent upgrade with Firefox, I can no longer click on an URL in my emails to go check the websites

Do you get an error message from Windows?
Sometimes the Firefox installer messes up the registry settings for how to handle URLs in other programs. One common way to solve the problem is:
    (1) Start up IE and have IE make itself the default browser
    (2) Go back to Firefox and have Firefox make itself the default browser

  • I am having nothing but problems since Firefox upgraded.

Since I updated Firefox I am having so many issues. Lock-ups, messages such as URL not valid cannot load, etc. What happened. I am starting to use Internet Explorer again just to get past the issues.

    Not sure how often
    == I upgraded Firefox.

I reinstalled Firefox twice. It does absolutely nothing different. I still think this is a Firefox issue. Of course, there is no one to talk to at Firefox so getting a resolution is almost impossible. I am no longer able to keep my sign in information for my e-mails, the URL not valid message is still there. This is really crazy. I should never have allowed the update. I think they need to check out the new update. I am not the only one with this issue. Thanks for the info though.

  • Why now, since Firefox upgraded to ver23.0.1, can I not load several pages including facebook unless I use I.E Tab ext?

Between last night and tonight, suddenly I can't load any pages unless I flip back and forth between I.E Tabs. Only difference: Firefox did a bloody update. Why is it that nowadays when a program updates, it always ends up being glitchy or fails entirely. Aren't updates supposed to IMPROVE the program, not break what was already working?
This problem happens on Facebook, twitter, Goodreads, Google, this page... everything. What is the use of having a browser that doesn't work. Come on Mozilla. Please let me roll back to 22. At least that worked. Sorry for the grump here, but I've truly had enough of programs self-"updating" into a version that is crap. With all that programmers have learnt over years of computing, this should not happen any more. If you're going to put out an "update", at least make sure it works fully first. We're not your lab rats for testing.
I've already restarted twice, and once more in safe mode, so please no one give me all the basic advice. Just someone tell the blokes at Mozilla that their update is broken, and they need to patch it. Meanwhile, I'll just run my business loading pages twice in two different browser tabs... or, after more than six years and twenty different version numbers, I might just drop Firefox altogether.
And you know what, I can't even add my Troubleshooting info from the button below. Guess why? That's broken too.

Have you tried windows safe mode? It could be your antivirus rules.

The box that the above message is contained in has heading [JavaScript Application] I am at my wit's end with this. Firefox won't even open now and I am also getting this error message "Exc in ev handl: Error: Bad NPObject as private data!" Also in a box with [JavaScript Application] as a heading.

It appears McAfee Site Advisor is conflicting with several other Firefox Add-ons, causing this error message. McAfee Site Advisor has been causing problems in Firefox for some time. You can disable McAfee Site Advisor and test. Disabling Site Advisor should not affect the functioning of McAfee; you should still be protected. <u>See the information below about a built-in function in Firefox that is similar to the function of Site Advisor.</u>

  • Weird X behaviour since last update

Ever since my last update, Xorg has been acting weird with text selection.
The problem in detail: sometimes when I select text on a website or in my terminal, the text will not stay highlighted but the selection will instantly disappear - the contents however have been copied to the clipboard. Very irritating. Another very annoying thing is, that X sometimes thinks I double clicked on a word and will instantly highlight the word. If I try to shake that off by clicking somewhere else, that will be be highlighted instead.
My X.Org Server version is 1.8.1.902 on Arch64.
What could be the problem here?

I am having them, currently to fix it i just turn the phone off and turn it back on.  Sometime that works for a day, sometimes 2.  But until i know there is a problem(usually when i see the light flashing that I have a text or missed call, yet there was no ring or alarm ) there is nothing to do, unless, and I am going to try it tonight, turn it off and on before bed and again when i wake up.

  • Mac OSX, since Firefox upgrade 22 July can only access old version of my virgin email upgraded in May but all ok using Safari. I have reinstalled Firefox from Safari no joy

On 22 July Firefox was upgraded on my Mac using OSX. This morning 23 July I cannot access my Virgin Cable email properly. Virgin email was upgraded in early 2010 but I can now only access 3 emails dated 19th May 2010 showing the old style email format. Safari is OK and accesses the email correctly. I have reinstalled Firefox this morning using Safari but the problem still occurs.

Yes, it will do no harm, but it is meant for trouble shooting and you should not have to use it all the time.

  • Auto zoom in facebook since firefox upgrade

Can you ad vise why firefox would auto zoom ( reduction) in Facebook? Have had network engineer look at configuration and all APPEARS to be correct. however unable to view any type of crash report

I have almost the same problem, but my firefox auto zoom (increase) every page.

  • Since Firefox upgraded to 8.0.1 I am not getting my Roboform 2 go toolbar to load. This happened the last time Firefox updated itself. I did get it back last time, but I didn't keep my notes. Any suggestions? (other than "next time keep your notes")

Roboform 2 go loads into the Firefox and all of the information is there. The only thing missing is the tool bar.

My advice is to contact Siber Systems and ask them to add the ability for Roboform to be able to keep itself up-to-date, without the user being required to search for and do manual updates. IOW, when an update is available for Roboform, that update should be installed automatically - or at least notify the user that an update is available and provide a click-able hyperlink to install that update.
As I recall, the Roboform 6 version used a Firefox extension which was hosted at the Mozilla add-ons website, and when there was a Roboform update or security fix it would be automatically installed just like any other Firefox extension.
Plus, their extension doesn't have to be at the AMO website, Firefox will look for updates for extensions from any HTTPS (secure) connection that is set up in the extension. Firefox has the capability of looking for and automatically installong updates, but they aren't using what is built into Firefox completely.
