[Solved] 64b Flash + Vimperator = Sigh

Flashplugin-prerelease (Square) recently stopped working for me in Vimperator. In Chromium, everything works just fine.
Are there any hidden parameters in about:config or anywhere else that could cause this behaviour?
Thank you.
Edit: Fixed it, I had swfdec and swfdec-mozilla installed. These seem to cause problems.

Thank you for making it clearer!
Mathematicians do not deal with "guesses" So here is some of the information we got:
* Almost all official Arch packages seem to deal correctly with permissions, especially the packages that we need here
* we used root for everything, including installing packages
* no other users were created from the beginning
* so when we create user, permissions will not take care of themselves.
I'm glad you didn't face other problems with other packages so far.. yet there always will be such problems, especially with more packages being installed.
If we were to test this, by deleting the directory, and removing the packages, then installing them again as user, they would work fine.
And if ever installing a package as user, requires user to go and miss with permissions, then it deserves to be fixed in the PKGBUILD (and probably reported as a bug).
When I first started installing Arch, I too (like many others who told me so) have done basically everything as root to setup the OS before using it. Then I forced myself to do it the proper way, and had to learn few more things, and I say it is worth it..

  • [SOLVED] Certain Flash sites not working in Firefox 4...

    EDIT: Solved in post #15
Using Firefox 4 stable from extra repo, something is up with my Flash where certain sites aren't seeing it, while others are. When it works, it plays fine. Here's some screenshots to illustrate what I mean:
When I start a new session of a Firefox all Youtube videos are in the small window (even when I'm logged in) and the first video I watch, to get it to the bigger window I click the enlarge button as seen: http://i.imgur.com/vmmSF.png
It plays fine in this little window, but when I click that button and it enlarges, it looks like this http://i.imgur.com/4xzoy.png
Sometimes it will play and I can hear the audio while I only have that grey rectangle. Now, I can hit refresh and it will play back fine now on in this larger size, but this does not occur on my laptop with Arch and same packages.
Then Vimeo, nearly all videos are like this http://i.imgur.com/zYkIT.png
And on Break I don't even see anything: http://i.imgur.com/SIkT2.png
Many sites tell me to upgrade my flash. Here is package info I am using just in case:

  • How to solve the flash Builder 4.6 scroll view and textinput  display problem?

I have a dynamic form application which worked well on flash builder 4.5, having display problems in flash builder 4.6 now. What I did is adding
TextInput objects  to a scroll view and set the texts for them dynamically. Everything is fine after the screen loaded. But if I scroll down, sometimes the texts will be placed in wrong positions. I attached the screen copy of the wrong display. Does anybody know how to solve this problem? Thanks.

Check out the two threads below (if you have not already). I have not tried it but aeonus describes an approach that made me think of something that might work ... It is a workaround but, what if you have a text field (txtA) with the skin that does not allow soft keyboard selection, but does scroll correctly, and on the onClick event of that text field, you dynamically cover it with another text field (txtB) that does allow soft keyboard selection, (but does not scroll properly) and trigger the keyboard. After you get the entry from the user, set the value of txtA and destroy txtB ... leaving you (theoretically) with properly scrolling text fields. If you have a lot of those in your app, you might want to write a component that implements that behavior.
"Create a dynamic textfield, and on click, invoke create a StageText instance at the same location as the textfield (by setting the StageText.viewPort property)
Finally, set StageText.softKeyboardType to "numeric" and call StageText.assignFocus();"

When i open some audio|video.flash (ex: youtube) in any browser i have to stopped mpd to get audio.

  • [SOLVED] No Flash in Chromium

    Hi,
I know there's another thread on this re: Firefox but I think this is a different problem.
After today's update, flash is no longer working in Chromium. A black box just pops up saying 'missing plug-in'. I'm running x86_64.
I think this is probably due to an update to nspluginwrapper, but I'm not really sure how to get it working again. Any advice?
    Many thanks!

I have had the same problem.
I just re-install flashplugin and it solved the problem for me.

  • I need help solving Latest Flash Player upgrade crashing issues.

I recently upgraded my flash player at Adobe reccomendation. Now it crashes all the time. I need help solving this issue. I currently have Flash Version 11.5.502.135. My old version never crashed, not even once. I would be fine uninstalling the new version and going back to the older one but i cant find it.

Could you please create a crash report? The following page has more information: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/report-flash-player-crash.html
You can install Flash Player 11.4.402.287 version.
    Thanks,
    Sunil

  • [Solved]USB Flash Drive inaccessible.

    Hi there.
I have installed Arch Linux on my Sony laptop and I have configured it so that most stuff works. The only problem I'm facing now, is that my USB Flash Drive won't show up when I plug it in. I have tried restarting ehci service, but it does not solve anything. I had this problem many years ago with another computer running Linux, but I can't remember how it got solved. Connecting a USB-mouse works perfectly but not a flash drive. The drive is a FAT32 formatted Kingston.
    This is my dmesg log:

For what i can see from the log  there is no problem.
Have you tried to manually mount it? To see if it is a PCManFM issue. Also, have you checked this:
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PC … ge_devices
    Hi.
I tried installing gvfs, apparently I uninstalled it for some reason before.   But it did not help mounting the flash drive. So I tried mounting it manually and it worked (Yaay!). But it complained that my flash drive was not mentioned in fstab. So I looked in fstab and the only ones listed is my root partion "/" and "/home". So how do I add USB mounting to fstab? I'm a little bit confused.
And one off-topic question: Shouldn't my "/var" partion also be mentioned in fstab?
    Thanks for helping me
Edit: This is how fstab looks right now
    # /etc/fstab: static file system information
    # <file system> <dir> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>

  • After 1 year, I finally solved the Flash Player 100% CPU issue!

I created this guide to help people with this problem.
    http://sgsoft.bravehost.com/flashcpuproblem.html
My problem was after watching/doing Flash videos or anything Flash related, my CPU would go up to 100% and whole computer slows down to a point I had to close my browse through Task Manager.
Both in Firefox and Internet Explorer.  Searched all over the web and still couldn't find a solution.
It was my CPU heating issue causing this slowdown and sluggish performance of Flash.
    Hope, it helps you guys.

You may wish to note that at least some of the problems on any Windows system after Windows XP could relate to the use of FlashPlayers protected mode.
Some users may wish to employ the most recent version of Flash Player that will work on their sytem. in which case it could be worth trying an up-to-date version of FlashPlayer but with protected mode disabled.
The setting is changeable by editing a file ( adding the line ProtectedMode=0 to the Flash "mms.cfg" file) and instructions may be found in these articles
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Flash#Flash_Player_11.3_Protected_Mode_-_Windows <br /> Probably an interesting reference article to scroll through regarding Flash Problems with Firefox
    * http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071#TemporaryWorkaround<br/>Again an article with more Flash Player troubleshooting tips included

  • [SOLVED] Opera + Flash = No Fullscreen on Youtube :/

    Hi,
I've noticet that I can't force Opera to show Youtube content in fullscreen mode. I was talking to my mate who is using Ubuntu (with the same - latest - version of Opera 9.20 and the same Flash plugin 9.0r31) and he is using it just fine. Do you guys have the same problem? Or is it me ;P I was trying it on Beryl turned off and nothing changed. When I press fulscreen icon on youtube player the movie stops (keep loading thou) but nothing happens.
    Any ideas?
SOLUTION: Ok for any one as dumb as I - the "Block unwanted pop-ups" option seem to block the Fullscreen videos, turn the option OFF or set the preferences for youtube page not to block the unwanted pop-ups. Strange that Opera is concidering the Fullscreen as "unwanted"
Sorry for making a 'big deal' about the whole problem
    Peace.

Just reinstalled the system (64bit), downloaded the latest chrome and extracted pepper flash to chromium. It always worked flawlessly but this time it's saying that the plugin is outdated and can't be used. This is just an annoyance since we can set whatever version we want in /etc/chromium/default but I was just wondering why it is happening and if others have experienced such behavior.

I've done exactly what the AUR package does, but manually.
    - download latest 64bit chrome from google website
    - extract pepper flash
    - copy files to proper directory
    - modify /etc/chromium/default
in fact AUR package gives me the same out of date error
Edit: my workaround is to add some units to the --ppapi-flash-version paramenter in the /etc/chromium/default

  • [SOLVED] Getting Flash to Work in Steam on x86_x64

SOLVED - The latest Steam update fixes this problem.
This is Valve's solution for Ubuntu 12.04.
What is the Arch equivalent of the Ubuntu libxt6:i386 package?  I have libxt, and lib32-libxt.  A pacman query doesn't pull up an libxt6.
    What do?
When a solution is found, I will also post it on Github.

    that's what i did:
installed lib32-flashplugin from aur and then did a symlink. i had to create the plugins directory in ubuntu12_32.
    ln -s /usr/lib32/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so ~/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/plugins/libflashplayer.so

Such is the nature of Flash on Linux. Unfortunately there is little anyone can do about this as Adobe have stopped supporting it. You could try downgrading, but in my experience Youtube doesn't work with non-current versions of Flash (and the old version has serious security holes in it.)
I find Chromium tends to work reasonably well, probably because it's the one platform Adobe *are* supporting on Linux. So if you're not averse to switching browsers (or at least using an alternative in some scenarios), you might try that
If you're using Firefox, FlashVideoReplacer, could be useful, though I've not used it for some time so I can't vouch for how well it works (or doesn't work).
Not sure where the "hate" of HTML5 comes from, though - it's a massive step forward for open standards on the web. Do you have some sort of technical problem with videos using it that we could help you with?
    Hope this helps.

  • [SOLVED] Updating/flashing BIOS in Linux?

I need to update BIOS for my computer. What can I use to do this on Linux?
The reason I need to do this is because there is a known problem with current BIOS that prevents me from using 8GB for memory.
From manufacturer's site, I downloaded AWDFLASH and bios .BIN file.
    (I have SP35P2 from Shuttle)
Or.. How can I create DOS bootable image?

    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fl … from_Linux
I found the easisest way is to make a bootable FreeDOS using Unetbootin as per the wiki above.
However, if that AWDFLASH is a Windows GUI only flasher (i.e. not DOS) then you may be out of luck. If so, check if flashrom will work with your machine. If not then you might be out of luck but sometimes some manufacturer's have a hot key setup that enables you to flash from a USB with a special hotkey during startup. You will need to google around to see of this is possible.
