[solved] Accented keys dont work in zsh

My HDD failed a week ago, now i have a new one but most of config files are lost.
I have hungarian keyboard and my accented keys simply wont work in zsh neither under X neither vterms. If I start a bash, or login as root (whos term is also bash) in a vterm, the keys start working. All keys work in normal GUI apps, and generate proper keycodes in X.
All of them worked fine in my prevoius arch install, what am i missing?!

The error message BIOHD-2 normally indicates that the hard drive has failed. Here is a guide to help you run the SMART test for the drive from the BIOS. Keyboard keys dont work in Mac OSx

The following keys suddenly stop working and then continue working randomly: F1 to F7, but the F keys work (eg to show desktop) and also the right (and only the right) shift key.
This does not depend on what software I have running and happens very very frequently.
If I bring up the Keyboard Viewer when the problem exists, the keys also dont get registered on the keyboard viewer.
This is really annoying and happens in Mac OSx, not in Windows - although volume and brightness keys dont work (all the time) in Windows - less of an issue though.
Any suggestions??

I'm having a similar problem. But it is not intermittent, they just don't work.
What can I do to fix this? If I use my wireless keyboard, it isn't a problem. Just when I use my laptop by itself...

Arrow keys dont work on flash games

Hi, anyone had this problem? The arrow keys dont work when I
play flash games. Have downloaded latest version of flash (multiple
times) and still the same problem. I load up a flash game, then can
only use the mouse to play. Arrow keys just dont respond when used.

I had the same problem and was looking around on the net for
help. I found a post that said to try using the numbered keypad
instead, as in 8 is up, 2 is down, 4 is left and 6 is right. It
worked for me so hopefully this will help you as well. :)

Did you check under the key for smutz. What kind of keyboard?

Please describe in detail all you have attempted to do in order to resolve the issue. Have you tried restarting your computer?

[solved] XF86AudioRaiseVolume Key not working in XFCE with Toshiba Z30

Symptoms:
It is possible to assign an action to XF86AudioRaiseVolume (or XF86AudioLowerVolume) in xfce4-keyboard-settings, but when XF86AudioRaiseVolume is pressed, nothing happens. (Not even failsafe test commands.)
With xfce4-volumed, the mute-key works, but not XF86AudioRaiseVolume and XF86AudioLowerVolume.
With volumeicon, the following terminal output is send:

I put this in the Laptop subforum, because with my netbook, all this works. I know, the Desktop Environments Subforum would also been an option.

OK OK, of course pacman -R xfce4-volumed is not enough, a killall xfce4-volumed is also neccesarry! volumeicon works now, solved.

DV6-6C50US, Keyboard tone heard and keys dont work when pressed consecutively

DV6-6c50US - windows 7
When I type a key consecutively, it works only once. Example: I type 'business', it appears as 'busines'
Same case with any keys including arrow keys.
I tried various options with Character Repear in Control panel, but no use.
Also, I hear keypad tones which I have never heard in my laptop earlier.
Not sure, how to get this fixed.
Please help.

Hi,
One thing worth checking is as follows.
From windows Control Panel, open the Ease of Access Centre and click on the link 'Make the keyboard Easier to Use'. If there is a tick in the box next to 'Turn on Sticky Keys' or 'Turn on Filter Keys', remove these and then click Apply to make the change to see if this resolves the issue.

8 keys dont work on wireless keyboard

I just changed the batteries on my wireless keyboard I use with my macbook pro. Now the Delete, Tab, apostrophe, down arrow, rt option, space bar, and fn keys do not work. I have tried several sets of fresh batteries. Have shut down and re-started the computer. Have followed the trouble shooting suggestions. and have reset the pram and smc. I am at a loss of what is wrong or how to fix it. The keyboard on my laptop work fine.

Can you try the keyboard with another computer? If you don't have another desktop or laptop, you can also use an iPad or iPhone to test the keyboard. I'm assuming this is Apple Bluetooth Keyboard or a third party Bluetooth.

Volume Keys dont work on asus eeepc 1000HE

I know that with this topic title you'll think you already have the answer here, but i look for it and i couldn't find.
I decide to use arch linux on my pc. Before I was using debian but i wanted to try out arch, and it's great! My problem is that i'm using openbox, and on debian i can bind the "XF86AudioRaiseVolume" key to increase the volume. Now It doesn't detect that key. With xev on terminal, i get nothing when i press that key so i can't bind it.
I already try with and without "acpi_osi=Linux" on the grub entry. I'm with 2.6.39 kernel, and i have acpi-eeepc-generic installed too.
Can anyone help me?

Hmm. No idea. I would assume something else was grabbing the keys, but I don't have a good enough understanding of how that's handled to speculate further.
Nah, currently running awesome, although I've used openbox along with many other WMs/DEs in the past without any issues.

[SOLVED] Backlight keys not working

The backlight keys on my laptop aren't working in arch. xbacklight also does not work. Both of these things work in Ubuntu. Here is my GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash pcie_aspm=force i915.i915_enable_rc6=1 i915.i915_enable_fbc=1 i915.lvds_downclock=1 acpi_backlight=vendor acpi_osi=Linux radeon.modeset=1"
When I installed Ubuntu, I had to add "acpi_backlight=vendor acpi_osi=Linux", although that doesn't seem to be helping here.
in /sys/class/backlight I see acpi_video0, acpi_video1, and intel_backlight. After echoing values into all of them, only intel_backlight seems to do anything. On Ubuntu, the only thing I see in that folder is intel_backlight.
Does anyone have any suggestions? The wiki doesn't have anything I haven't already tried.

I figured it out.
I confirmed from Xorg.0.log that acpi_video1 was being used instead of intel_backlight. However, I had already tried the fix here: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugrepor … =651741#73, which is also mentioned by WonderWoofy, but X server wouldn't start. I tried it again, but this time I took a look at the logs and I realized that the fix listed in the bug report has two Identifier lines, causing X server to not start. I removed the Card0 line and X started fine and I was able to control the backlight. I'll add this information to the bug report.

N82 all mkeys dont work (except on/off key)

Iam with a strange problem..
its my second n82 (new phone) and i think it comes with a problem..
when iam opening applications, pressing keys and making normal use of phone, it freeze and all keys dont work, only key that work is the power on key, and it change profiles, options only, i cannot turn off the phone, then i can remove battery or wait one or two minutes and it reboot, its a very strange problem because in my previous n82 i never see it happen
well, this phone only come with nokia maps in microSD card, it was firmware v10, then i updated to v30 and no luck, same thing happen, i`ve tried two different cards and it happen anyway, ive formated too with 3 key and *#7370#.
Have anyone experienced this same problem with n82?
Since that i have 7 days for exchange it by a new phone, iam thinking about this

iam testing it without memory card inserted and by while its working, ive formated my 8gb card too and all looks good again, if problem comes again ill test without sim card (i never imagine that it can cause this problem, thank you by advice).
but i see people talking about nokia maps freezing, and first time that i open maps after 8gb card formatting it freeze phon.
only a thing: in my previous n82 i was using sandisk card, in this new iam using kingston. no sure if really the card was causing it

Parts of keyboard dont work in CS4 (enter and arrow keys)

Hello all... a really weird problem:
The arrow, enter and tab keys dont work in a new installation of CS4.....
The user cant move objects around via the keyboard arrows, and cant insert an enter or move the cursor around when editing text.
Really weird.... but it looks like these keys are just disabled. They work OK in Microsoft Office applications. So I dont think it is they keyboard physically.
Anyone seen this before?

Try replacing the preferences. If it's a new install, there's probably not much to lose yet. Hold down Ctrl + Alt + Shift IMMEDIATELY after launching ID from the start menu. You have to be REALLY fast. If you don't see a confirmation dialog, try again.
