[SOLVED] All browsers using libwebkit crashing.
Hi!
I'm having a problem with webkit based web browsers. All of them crash when i go to google.com. In console it says "Illegal instruction".
What causes this and how could I fix it?

I have tried Midori, luakit, jumanji, uzbl - all of them crashed with same error.
How could I get some more debugging info ?

[SOLVED]Flashplugin causing all browsers to either crash
Hi guys,
i recently installed arch on old machine i was given. after some initial problems with the radeon driver and x11, i now have openbox up and running.
as this is an old machine, with only 512mb of ram i've tried using low-overhead browsers at first. i use luakit on my other machine and have no problems there, so i've tried initially using luakit on this one.
i've installed flashplugin, nearly every gstreamer plugin imaginable, and totem-plugin. the latter two plugins are for the many types of streaming sites i visit. but i digress...
my real issue seems to be with the flashplugin.
every time i run luakit and visit a site that uses flash, like youtube for instance i'll get an immediate crash with an an error
Illegal instruction ( core dumped )
every time i run midori and visit a flash site i get the same crash and error
Illegal instruction ( core dumped )
so we move up the bloat ladder...
epiphany immediately freezes up and crashes.
chromium doesn't crash but every flash-embedded page with have a
missing plugin
message where each flash video should be.
so now with chromium i've moved out of the realms of it just being a webkit issue. but i haven't got the foggiest of where to look to try and find the problem.
flashplugin is most definitely installed. i should also point out that my graphics card is an old radeon 9200 128mb agp. but still, it should be able to play flash videos surely?
thanks for your time, i'm open to suggestions.

All browsers (except Safari) crash on launch
The weirdest thing keeps happening while I'm running 10.4 on my trusty old G4 733 Tower
Firefox, IE 5.3, Omniweb -- each crashes the minute they launch. I've run Disk Permissions, updated Java, and am absolutely confused.
Even though the other browsers crash repeatedly, Safari 3-something keeps chugging along with no problem. What would cause this issue and can I fix it somehow?
Thanks. If you have not done so already, except for the keyboard & mouse, disconnect all devices from your computer when troubleshooting.
Update to OS 10.4.11 either from Software Update and/or from Apple's Download site. Also, from SU, download all the other software listed that pertains to the various OS updates.
Repair permissions & restart your computer.
Make sure Firefox, IE, & Omniweb are updated to their latest versions. At the moment FF seems to be updating every week or so. Afterwards again repair permissions & restart your computer prior to using the browsers.
How much HD space do you have left? How much RAM is installed? -
Quicktime and all quicktime-using applications crash on startup
A while ago my computer crashed and wouldn't start up. We ran the disk utility and fixed the permissions and ran disk warrior, and in the end we eventually got it to work by installing MacOS onto the harddrive again (so basically it's installed twice).
Ever since then, however, quicktime crashes whenever I try to start it up. In fact, any application that uses quicktime, such as iTunes, will crash and automatically quit out when it tries to play a video. Even the Finder will crash whenever it tries to display a preview of a movie.
Any ideas on how to fix this? I've tried deleting the quicktime preferences and reinstalling to no avail.
Thanks. After you re-installed the OS, did you install any third programs or components/plug-ins?

Help...please?How old is this machine? If it's less than 90 days old you have 90 days of Free AppleCare coverage, call them! You will find the phone number in your manual. If it's out of AppleCare or you bought it used take it your local Apple Store or AASP to have it looked at. We don't have enough information to know what the problem might be. You can run some tests such as Apple Hardware Test in Extended Mode 2-3x to see if it has any hardware errors. Beyond that it's really tough to say.

Uploading pdf, jpg or png crashes ALL browsers, HELP!
Trying to upload pdfs to my work website has proved impossible without crashing the browser. This is killing me, my company is desperate for this to be resolved.
So far I have used Safari, Firefox, Camino and Opera to try to isolate the problem. ALL browsers crash when trying to upload.
It works flawlessly on my G5 Quad running 10.5.8... but my MacBook Pro — used all the time off-site — is currently a $3,000 doorstop right now.
My job is working online. Without this basic functionality I am totally screwed.
How can I downgrade to 10.5 anyone?I am having the same problem on my iMac running OS 10.6.1: browsers (particularly, Safari) crash when trying to upload photos...several apps (Adobe CS3 apps, MS Office apps, and many more) crashing when trying to save a document or image.
VERY ANNOYING.
I did some troubleshooting / tests with the help of an apple care specialist:
1)booting in safe mode and trying to upload a photo: Safari crashed.
2)same but with a different user account: problem did not occur.
3)verifying permissions resulted in a thread of some 20-30 adobe flash warnings, but repairing them did not solve the problem.
4)genius at the store looked at the crashes and suggested deleting com.apple.desktop.plist and com.apple.finder.plist and if that does not work do a clean install of the OS.
Below is the crash report. I'm getting this several times a day....
Has anybody found a solution to this problem? I will greatly appreciate any help.

Flash Crashes across all browsers and recent fatal errors
This problem has basicly been going on for years and my operating system has been resintalled a couple of times before but basicly the problem is that adobe flash player (and Microsoft Silverlight) would crash a browser (IE, Chrome, and Firefox) often. I have tried the fixes ive read about but they didnt seem to work so I just decided to put up with it until I began getting fatal errors. I had my hardware checked out and there are no problems with and all my drivers are up to date.
Flash: 11.5.502.135
Windows 7 (64-bit)
HD 5570 and HD 6870 (upgraded from one to the other but problem still occurs)
Like I said I usually try to put up with flash (and silverlight) crashing my browser but now they crash the browse so badly it forces a bugcheck (or blue screen of death). I have tried to reload my operating system, then updated my drivers, and then in clean boot mode I still get pretty nasty crashes. I think the problem is within one of my drivers but I cant pinpoint which driver is the culprit.

Subject: Flash Player Flash Plug-in Crashes across all browsers despite
re-install
I support a bunch of Mac users and one of them (10.5.7 MBP) ran into this same
problem last week with both Safari and Firefox crashing with the flash player
plugin. If I removed the Flash Player plugin and the .xpt file there was no
crashing but no flash either. I used a combination of different suggestions and
here's what finally worked (so far anyway):
Show package contents for Firefox/Contents/MacOS/components and Get Info
changing perms for read/write for everyone.
Re-installed shockwave plugin using the customized full install (this made no
sense to me since I had made no change to shockwave but as I was testing the
browsers I was prompted to install it, so I did)
Repaired permissions
The version of the Flash Player plugin that ended up installed on this Mac is
10.0.12.36. I started off installing the newer and recommended 10.0.22.87
version but it didn't fix anything. I inadvertently went backwards as I moved
plugins in and out of the Library. I didn't want to change anything once it was
working so I left it at the older version. I hope this helps someone else. -
I tried disabling the Download video feature in RealPlayer Plus just for just Firefox. videos still will not play. The only way they will play is if I disable the feature for ALL browsers. I have found this to be true on multiple computers and other people have experienced this as well. I can deal with it if Firefox has trouble with RealPlayer, a product I paid for, but why do they care what I use in other browsers? This is unacceptable. Especially since there are all kinds of cheap extensions that do the same thing as RealPlayer but not as well. See ya -- for testing purposes only from now on. My web sites will all note works best with anything BUT Firefox.
Hi nomadsjangle,
<u>'''Short answer,'''</u> downgrade to Flash 10.3, Firefox should then work ok, and hopefully RealPlayer will be fully functional.<br/>For instructions see [[flash 11.3 crashes]]
Sorry you are having problems. I am not sure why you decided to blame Firerfox for this problem.
If you pay for and install RealPlayer why do you blame Firefox when you need to uninstall it to play video ? Why not blame RealPlayer, FlashPlayer, or even another browser!
This is a known issue and developers from Firefox, Flash and Realplayer have been involved with this for a few weeks. There have been a few changes in that time but no full solution that suits everyone is available, or likely in the immediate future AFAIK.
I suspect your problem is due to the fact that FlashPlayer 11.3 introduced a security feature known as ''protected mode''. (Flash 11.3 may also have other issues with Firefox) RealPlayer (certainly the versions current when Flash11.3 was released) has problems with this. Real player is or was causing problems with use of Flash to view videos on Firefox with Flash 11.3.
Note FlashPlayer will be installed on the Operating System as a plugin, and may be used by more than one browser (although it needs different software for IE).
Downgrade Flash to 10.3 then if you still have problems post back, confirm the Flash Player version you have now,and the RealPlayer version.
Note
* if you use the Adobe uninstaller you may need to reinstall FlashPlayer on IE
* take care not to follow advice from plugincheck FlashPlayer etc to upgrade to the latest version, until this issue is resolved.
* this is a temporary solution, you should upgrade again once this is resolved. -
Flash player crashes on multiple websites on all browsers
I was viewing www.liveleak.com watching many videos perfectly fine. I left to take a break for awhile and now any time i attempt to watch a video it will crash. The whole page will load up except the flash player. As soon as it attempts to load up the flash player whichever browser i am using will crash. No video on www.liveleak.com will load for me. Its the same with some other websites (youtube works fine for some reason) Ive tried everything to fix it. Ive tried
- Re-installing flash
- Trying multiple internet browsers
- Going into the flash settings_manager and adjusting multiple settings
The only way ive fixed this problem (i had it in the past) was to format my harddrive + re-install windows. I dont wana do this again!!!
Any ideas what is going wrong?I am back from my break (admittedly, it was a short break), but I can still view videos on liveleak.com; try a complete uninstall as follows
download the FP uninstaller from http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157 (save to disk);
download the offline installers
for Internet Explorer http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe (save to disk);
for all other browsers http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe (save to disk);
close all browser windows, run the downloaded uninstaller, followed by the appropriate installer(s).
Does it work again now? -
Flash Player crashes in all browsers
I have IE 8, Firefox 3.6 and Chrome 6.0 on my laptop. I have the latest version of Flash on all three. All of of a sudden, the Flash Player plugin will crash and the browser will lock up any time I open a page that uses Flash. What could be doing this?
Here are the files in the Flash folder:
Flash Player Trust
Flash10k.ocx
FlashInstall
flashplayer.xpt
FlashUtil10k_ActiveX.dll
FlashUtil10k_ActiveX
NPSWF32.dll
Version is 10.1.85.3

Hi, thanks. I think we need to take a look at the Flash files.
Go to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash Open Flash and post back all files listed. You will need to right click on the NPSWF files and then click on Properties to obtain the version numbers.

Adobe Flash Player Plugin crashes in ALL browsers while accessing webcam
Hi,
I am struggling to get my adobe flash player plug-in working while accessing webcam.
It simply crashes in all browsers. I googled this issue and realized many users are facing this issue.
However I did not get any solution to fix this. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling plug-in multiple times but of no use.
Following are specifications:
OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (32 Bit) SP3
Browsers: Internet Explorer (8.0), Chrome (8.0), Mozilla Firefix (3.0)
Webcam: Dell monitor inbuilt webcam
Flash Player version: 10,1,102,64
Please note, the webcam is accessible through other applications (e.g. Yahoo! Messenger, Skype, Windows Explorer)
Also, Adobe Flash player doesn’t give any trouble while playing streaming videos on YouTube etc.
Trouble is only when flash player tries to access webcam through any browser (eg. while "Record from Webcam" on YouTube)
An interesting observation I like to note here, the device list that appears in the plug-in window is blank for both video/audio devices (See the area encircled RED in the image below)
Not sure, but just suspecting could this be potential reason for crash?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
StrugglerHello all,
My doubt was correct. It was all due to the blank device list. After lot of struggle I found this solution worked for me:
1. As soon as the plug-in tries to access webcam, it will show you "Adobe Flash Player Settings" box
2. Click Deny then Close to close it
3. Now press tab key on keyboard. It will highlight (in yellow) and show list of devices in video device dropdown control (This could be little bit tricky and you need to put little bit more efforts to see the list). You can now select your webcam as device here.
4. Press Tab key again to go audio dropdown and select audio device.
5. Then right click and bring up "Adobe Flash Player Settings" again.
6. Under Microphone and Camera tabs, make sure we select same devices we selected in 3 & 4 above
7. Come back to privacy tab and this time chose "Allow" and then close "Adobe Flash Player Settings" box
8. You should now see the camera images in the plug-in
Conclusion: This is a workaround worked for me. Plug-in is quite unstable and there is definitely something here Adobe Flash Player plug-in developers need to do about.
Hope this workaround helps many other users.
Thanks,
Struggler -
Flash Plug-in Crashes across all browsers despite re-install
About a week ago, my MacBook's Firefox browser started crashing whenever I checked my hotmail or Youtube, failing to load the flash content in either a banner add or the Youtube video, I uninstalled flash, and the problem went away, only now I am unable to visit youtube or access any flash content on the internet. The problem extends across browsers to Safari and despite reinstalling, trying to revert to an old flash player, even downloading the full trial version of Flash from this website on the suggestion of a tech support person from this site, I have been unsuccessful. The browser crashes whenever it comes across any flash content.
Can you help me?I left it at 10.0.12.36

Flash Player 11.6.r602 crashes in all browsers
Running on windows vista box. In all browsers I repeatedly get Flash Player crash messages, appently caused by the Data Protection Execution Protection service closing it.
I've tried turning off DEP for flash and Windows won't let me.Thanks for your prompt and helpful reply.....
When dealing with such a large problem with frequent FF lockups the temptation is to lump all information in an attempt to solve. LOL
Chasing multiple threads to help solve the problem may be helpful to the developers but it takes far too much time following and posting in each thread. As you can see it's taken a couple of days to get back to this post.
First thing we did is dump cache and cookies both through the interface and then manually in the profile. We changed the version of Flash installed manually and even changed the version of FF. There are many "flash" enabled pages we encountered which caused the lockup.....so MSN is not specifically the issue.
But when Flash is removed or disabled the browser no longer locks up.....suffice to say we get an error when visiting a website with flash content on it.
That is why I chose to post here as the problem is directly attributable to Flash in FF on all of our machines.

Flash Player Crashing in ALL Browsers
Flash plugin crashing on Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer. This has been happening for months now. It's been fixed a few times, but it keeps happening again. Unable to watch YouTube videos on all broswers.
I have a PC (laptop) with Windows 7 (64-bit, I think). On Chrome I have version 10,2,154,18 installed. On Firefox: version 10,2,152,32 installed. On Internet Explorer: version 10,2,152,32 installed.
I work from home, so it's imperative that I not have this problem. Especially since it often interferes with Google Talk/Gmail Chat.
Thank you!Hi, Since it's happening on all browsers, then there must be a common conflict. Have you tried turning off the hardware acceleration? go to this site: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/. Right click on the Flash logo, Settings,
then UNcheck the hardware acceleration in Display Settings.
If that doesn't solve it, you may need to update your video card driver also.
At that same site linked to above, can you see the Flash logo animation? With all browsers?
Thanks,

Flash player crashing in all browsers for live video
The Flash video player is crashing all browsers when I try to watch live video (specifically, live feeds out of Egypt, notably Al Jazeera's live feed).
I'm on a MacBook Pro, OS X 10.6.6, using Safari, Firefox and Chrome browsers. In Chrome, I can hear audio for about 60 seconds - no video - and then it crashes. Safari & Firefox crash almost immediately. They all give me various messages about Flash crashing the browser.
I uninstalled Adobe Flash Player, then re-installed it, rebooted my laptop, etc. I checked all the player settings, and they're apparently set as they should be.
Any ideas? The same thing is happening to me in Safari, Chrome and Firefox. I cleared my cache, deleted my flash cookies, and reinstalled Flash. None of those worked to bring it back. It was working on a PC running XP yesterday.
