[Solved]All QT programs crash."symbol lookup error","undefined symbol"

Today when I open my computer I can not start any QT program. For example the error messages are
kile: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libkdecore.so.5: undefined symbol: qt_locale_initialized
kate: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libkio.so.5: undefined symbol: _ZN21QNetworkAccessManager16staticMetaObjectE
/usr/bin/qtcreator.bin: symbol lookup error: /usr/bin/qtcreator.bin: undefined symbol: _ZN12QLocalServerC1EP7QObject
okular: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libkdecore.so.5: undefined symbol: qt_locale_initialized
Yesterday they are OK. I checked /var/log/pacman.log, yesterday I upgraded these packages

Can any of these changements cause QT crash? Should I down-grade them?
I have also rebuild qt from abs, but errors remain.

It is solved.
I remember that I installed Mathematica and changed the path of library in .bashrc:
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/mathematica/SystemFiles/Libraries/Linux-x86-64:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
There may be some conflict. When I change it to
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/opt/mathematica/SystemFiles/Libraries/Linux-x86-64
Everything is OK.

    Hello,
    I'm running 32-bit.
    After pacman updated KDE, kdm doesn't start anymore. kdm.log shows this error:
    /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/kdm_greet: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libQtSvg.so.4: undefined symbol
    I tried reinstalling kdebase-workspace and qt to which the files belong to but didn't help. Eventually I reinstalled all the packages using:
    # comm -23 <(pacman -Qeq|sort) <(pacman -Qmq|sort) | pacman -S -
    Also no luck. All other packages are up to date.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    After endless googling I managed to fix the problem. Before everything went south I installed packages called openct and pkiclient. One of them create a directory /usr/lib/eToken which contained the following files:

    I suppose the problem was that libQt* files conflicted with the original ones in the /usr/lib/ dir because after deleting /usr/lib/eToken everything went back to normal.

  • SOLVED Symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libpangocairo-1.0.so.0:

    Hi: It is my first post on archlinux forums. I have a problem with libpango. When I start openbox session (With slim or startx it's the same), give me the error: Symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libpangocairo-1.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_object_replace_qdata . The crash sucesed then the latest update.
    Already tried several alternatives (install pangox-compat, reinstall pango, etc.) and no luck.
    I installed pekwm and the WM is started, but i can't execute apps what depend of libpangocairo
    Any idea?

  • [SOLVED] clementine-tagreader symbol lookup error

    Hi.
    Today I upgraded community/clementine (1.0.1-7 -> 1.1.0-2) and extra/glew (1.8.0-2 -> 1.9.0-1). After that upgrade clementine stopped to work probably. Running on cli it shows this error multiple times on start-up
    /usr/bin/clementine-tagreader: symbol lookup error: /usr/bin/clementine-tagreader: undefined symbol: _ZN6TagLib5ID3v113StringHandlerC2Ev
    It seems to be some error with the id3 tag lib. Downgrading the mentioned two packages solves the problem as workaround.
    Does anyone experience the same problem or can suggest a better solution or fix?

  • [SOLVED] vim symbol lookup error

    Hi, i have this error when i try to run vim :
    vim: symbol lookup error: vim: undefined symbol: Perl_xs_apiversion_bootcheck
    dont know if it has to be with my older version of perl (dont have any dependency problems), but i really would try to avoid updating that if possible.
    hope someone has any insight in how to solve this, thanks.

  • [SOLVED- use cairo-xcb]Symbol lookup errors with cairo and awesome

    Hi  guys,
    the last few days i've been getting these errors at start:
    awesome: symbol lookup error: awesome: undefined symbol: cairo_xcb_surface_create
    on xinit. It gets started with "exec ck-launch-session awesome"
    I've narrowed the problem down to awesome itself, even with default rc.lua. Anyone else also getting these?

    Smells like packaging issue, right? Testing is enabled, so cairo is on 1.10.0-2 and awesome on 3.4.6-1.

  • [SOLVED] Alsa works, but not pulse (pulseaudio: symbol lookup error)

    SOLUTION: Fixed in latest pulseaudio. Build from latest git, or use AUR.
    I've just installed Arch following the beginner's guide, managing to get an up to date system, Xorg working with Awesome, and positive results with systemd. My next goal was basic audio and video.
    I installed Alsa, added myself to the audio group, tested the playback and recording with arecord and aplay, no problems.
    I installed mplayer2, which pulled `libpulse=0.9.22-2` as a dependency.
    Mplayer2 did not work. It looked like it had something to do with pulseaudio, but I didn't look too hard before removing mplayer2 and libpulse.
    Installed pulseaudio, pavucontrol, paprefs, avahi. I want to use mplayer2, but mostly I want pulseaudio for its own merits, especially its network transparency. I'm also hoping it fixes a skype problem.
    Tried running `pulseaudio --start`, but it fails returning this error:

    having problems with xorg.
    first noticed something was wrong when i ran Xorg -configure (yes, i now realize that this is an outdated method)

    after i execute:
    pacman -S xorg-xinit xorg-twm xorg-xclock xterm
    both xinit and startx work fine; i can use the keyboard and mouse
    so far i've tried reinstalling / updating with:
    pacman -S xorg
    pacman -S xorg-server
    pacman -S xorg-apps
    pacman -S xf86-video-ati
    the thread https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=126754 recommends removing the extra drivers (i have them all downloaded) by using this command:
    pacman -Rns $(pacman -Qqs xorg-drivers | grep -v xf86-input-evdev)
    the output that i get is:
    error: '1.5.0-2': target not found
    when i try to run fluxbox i get:
    Error: Couldn't connect to XServer
    the output i get from lspci | grep VGA is:

    a similar problem was reported at https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=667877
    i really don't know what they are talking about with using 'nomodset' and i'm not even sure that it applies to my situation
    hope thats enough info to get started on solving this problem

    played around with the .xinitrc file for a while after i got home from work and was able to get fluxbox running.  i would say problem solved, but i guess there wasn't really  a problem after all, just lack of reading. 
    don't know how i overlooked the wiki documentation on .xinitrc found at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xinitrc

    my distribution is gentoo ... i have installed several versions of gcc (maybe this cause my problem), then with gcc-config command configure default version of gcc to 4.1.2 .... follow the instructions at:

    I am trying to connect to an oracle database on remote machine using ODBC.
    I am using x86_64 Linux CentOS 5 machine.
    I configured ODBC as per the directions in

    I created system DSN for oracle 11g in /etc/odbc.ini and Driver in /etc/odbcinst.ini
    my ORACLE_HOME and LD_LIBRARY_PATH are configured accordingly.
    I installed the Driver and System DSN using odbcinst.
    When I use isql to connect to the remote oracle. I get the following error.

    The problem is not in the supportability, the problem lies in the fact that this driver is untested and doesn't work.
    I was able to successfully do the trick with the ODBC driver for 10.2 but the 11g version doesn't work, it's missing
    a symbol. For your information, this driver doesn't work even on OEL 5.2, which is supported. Just blasting people for using the unsupported combination will not change the fact that neither dg4odbc nor the ODBC
    driver itself are working. Both are hopelessly broken.
    If you ever asked yourself why is the adoption of 11g so slow, the answer is that is largely untested and significant parts of it don't work. I had a problem with fast switchover to standby which did work in one direction, but could not get back and I still have a problem with ODBC drivers which are programmed sloppily. I suggested my management not to go to 11g for at least another year. New features of 11g are fascinating but the software quality is appalling, to put it mildly. There are show stopping bugs all over the place.
    Other than that, my understanding of this forum is that it is intended for a free form exchange of information. Blasting people for testing possibilities doesn't seem like the right answer to me. On the other hand, any
    other answer would be inconsistent with Dan Morgan.

    And yes, i've carefully read article about signing packages, pacman key was initialized and keyring also was populated.
    Successfully resolved problem by adding globally SigLevel = Never and commenting out SigLevel = PackageRequired. Yes, I understand that this is bad idea, but i've found no other way to resolve it.
    Then pacman Syu finished succesfully. After that i've turned signature check back. It works.
    P.S.: my bad, it seems that i accidently used 2010.05 old iso to install arch. And as too many core changes came into distro, (initscripts, filestystem force, etc), pacman Syu failed over and over.

  • Symbol lookup error /usr/lib/libXi.so.6

    Dear All,
    After a recent update, I have problems with libXi. I get the following error while trying to plot something with gnuplot:
    gnuplot: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libXi.so.6: undefined symbol: XESetWireToEventCookie.
    I get a similar error when trying to run a java application:
    java: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libXi.so.6: undefined symbol: XESetWireToEventCookie
    Something looks broken. I tried downgrading libXi to the previous version 1.3.2-1:
    pacman -U libxi-1.3.2-1-i686.pkg.tar.xz
    but that didn't help. I'm now back on version 1.4.0-1
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. This is my first post to this forum so bare with me. I've been a gentoo user for quite sometime but I'm trying a binary distro for obvious reasons.
    This also looks like a bug for I haven't done anything strange. This is a newish installation and all I do every week or so is pacman -Syu as suggested in the beginner handbook. I'm surprised no one else has posted this problem... is it really just me?. There are some old post on this issue but there was no solution there other than downgrading which I have already tried.
    I've just realized that not even okular works!!! Why am I being punished?

  • Kde 3.4: symbol lookup error

    Switched to kde3.4 today. Some apps are crashing, wich is pretty annoying.
    When started from command line they give this error:
    symbol lookup error: /opt/kde/lib/libkdeui.so.4: undefined symbol: _ZN12QProgressBarD2Ev
    libkdeui.so.4 is right where it's supposed to be, so I don't understand the problem.
    Can somebody help?

    I have problems with kde 3.4. I removed .kde* but the problem persist.
    When i maximize a kde app like kcontrol or k3b mi computer hangs and i have to reset by buton
    I reinstalled kde, but nothing.
    Is posible to know the integrity of packages?

  • Can't run dangerdeep / symbol lookup error

    I just wanted to try out danger from the deep but the game doesn't run.
    I installed dangerdeep and dangerdeep-data 0.3.0 out of the community repo.
    The game menu starts fine but as soon as I want to start a mission the game crashes:

    I have fglrx-utils-8.37.6-1 installed. IMO fglrx-utils should replace libgl-dri completely, am I right?
    btw, recompiling the game stops with an error message

    No, this is on i686.
    When I compile it with fglrx-utils installed I get the following error: Link
    Dangerdeep builds fine if I replace fglrx-utils with libgl-dri. But when I try to run it with one of the both installed the game crashes with the error posted in the first post.

  • Nm-applet fails to start (symbol lookup error)

    I can't exactly remember what I did, but nm-applet doesn't start anymore.
    This is what I get:

    Gives no output when I try to start it. Only "Job for NetworkManager.service failed" etc.
    I have no idea what the problem is.
