[solved] amarok 2.3 crash

after upgrading to amarok 2.3 i launched the program and all seemed well. After some minutes it crashed and I'm still unable to launch it again. When i type "amarok" i get this:

any clue? I tried to remove the amarok folder in .kde4 and also to reinstall the package but the problem is still there. Strangely, if i run amarok as root it does start...
Cheers

    I built my own test a few minutes ago to avoid libgpod and mtp, one of the first problems is segfaulting at every exit so it looses many settings like the current playlist. Playlist importing from v1 is still broken, rtsp streams are not recognised (even though it is still the xine engine), there is no EQ, random crashes here and there... If you still want to try it check this build http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=19633
    haha wow.  i guess ill stick w/ 1.4 untill they get this sorted out.  was hoping for sumthin new but owell
    thanks for the help

  • [SOLVED] Amarok not starting up after the latest update

    Hi there,
    as the title says, my Amarok isn't starting anymore since I did the latest update (from today to 2.4.1-3).
    I see my bouncing logo animation on the cursor for a few seconds and after that it just disappears and nothing happens.
    Did this happen to anyone else? Any hints what I can do now to fix this?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Amarok and KMix crash on start-up [Solved]

    KMix and Amarok both crash on start-up. I have no idea why they do. I checked what happens in vanilla user, and they still crash. So I ruled out settings.
    This started today, which is strange, given the last update wasn't anything significant (at least for me).
    This the log of last update:
    [2013-09-28 01:47] [PACMAN] Running 'pacman -Syu'
    [2013-09-28 01:47] [PACMAN] synchronizing package lists
    [2013-09-28 01:47] [PACMAN] starting full system upgrade
    [2013-09-28 01:47] [PACMAN] upgraded archlinux-keyring (20130818-1 -> 20130926-1)
    [2013-09-28 01:48] [PACMAN] upgraded ca-certificates (20130610-1 -> 20130906-1)
    [2013-09-28 01:48] [PACMAN] upgraded dialog (1.2_20130902-1 -> 1.2_20130923-1)
    [2013-09-28 01:48] [PACMAN] upgraded file (5.14-1 -> 5.15-1)
    [2013-09-28 01:48] [PACMAN] upgraded imagemagick (6.8.6.10-1 -> 6.8.7.0-1)
    [2013-09-28 01:48] [PACMAN] upgraded links (2.7-2 -> 2.8-1)
    Also Amarok and KMix are only media apps that are affected. VLC works, MPlayer works, even Flash (YouTube) works. If I test sound in System Settings sounds works as well.
    The other application which also has problems at start-up is Dropbox, but I doubt it's connected. It says there's a permission error and the error report among other things says:
    OperationalError: database or disk is full
    So does that mean I have /tmp problem? It still has 3,2GB of space left (as always).
    Did update of file or dialog somehow broke this??
    Any help is welcome. At least give me some additional ideas, so I can post this on KDE forum. At least tell me if anyone else has the same problem.
    Oh BTW: I thought it might be the problem with the new kernel. But I re-built it and check if the catalyst module got built, and it still doesn't work. So it's not driver problem either.

    Ironically I already solved it, but I don't know which of the two things I did solved it.
    I first downgraded linux to previous version. To do that I had to go to /var/cache/pacman/pkg, where I noticed how much old packages I had, so I also did pacman -Sc.
    I'm guessing this was what solved it, as dropbox also works. So I think I'll upgrade back and hopefully everything will still work.
    If not well I'm kind of screwed, as pacman -Sc cleared all the older versions of linux. It was the problem with disk space and not with the kernel. So this is solved.
    BTW: is there a version of pacman -Sc that doesn't remove the one version before the current? (That would be really useful)

  • [SOLVED] Amarok fails to start / crashes while starting

    Hello,
    Amarok on my primary Arch x86_64 machine just started to fail staring. It probably is not caused by some upgrade, as downgrading related recently upgraded packages (mysql, phonon) didn't help. Removing of /.kde4/share/apps/amarok* and /.kde4/share/config/amarok* stuff didn't help either. I tried to log in with clear .kde4, which seemed to help, but as I had everything configurend and done some reboots, the problem appeared again. When I run amarok, splashscreen shows up, then the window pops up and disappears. No crash report from drkonqui is displayed though.
    This is what I get, when running it from konsole:

  • [Solved] Amarok v2.8 doesn't start

    Hi,
    With the last Amarok update (v2.8), i am getting a notification at startup :
    Amarok could not find any collection plugins. It is possible that Amarok is installed under the wrong prefix, please fix your installation using:
    $ cd /path/to/amarok/source-code/
    $ su -c "make uninstall"
    $ cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=`kde4-config --prefix` && su -c "make install"
    $ kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental
    $ amarok
    More information can be found in the README file. For further assistance join us at #amarok on irc.freenode.net.
    This had happened before : https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=121670

    @karol,
    Yeah, removing ~/.kde solves most of the problems but you lose the customization you have done, so it's the last choice.
    For most of us, removing config folders/files is the first thing which comes to mind. But i only removed "~/.kde4/share/apps/amarok" first, then i realized that there is some more folders related to Amarok at "~/.kde4/share/config/".
    A quick search at home dir is useful on removing config files.

  • Solved the Illustrator CS3 Crash Error upon saving file on my OS.

    I was unable to save any Illustrator file. Upon saving a file Illustrator CS3 crashed and an error message would pop up and windows error reporting service would be launched to report the error and close Illustrator.exe.
    Until i found out that i had the "Print Spooler Service" set to manual. I always start this service manually when need to print things. So, when i started this service and did a print from MS Word, and latter on thought to give Adobe Illustrator another try, i created an illustration and click on save and WOW it saved my file without any crashes.
    To test this worked fully, i opened an older version .ai file and did some changes and used the save and save as command, both worked.
    I am relieved now.
    Espart

    This one is for all of you who couldn't get the above to work:
    I have Windows XP and CS3 Illustrator.
    This same problem happened to me in Photoshop. To fix it, I stopped Version Cue from grabbing the "Save As" window before I could save. Here's how:
    In Photoshop:
    Edit > Preferences > File Handling...
    In the last box, uncheck "Enable Version Cue." Problem solved. (I believe this may be turned on during Adobe update, but I am unsure. What I do know is the problem stems entirely from Version Cue.)
    The fix for Illustrator is a bit more complex. The same thing happened to me in Illustrator (and it used to save just fine without any changes on my part) but Version Cue was already unchecked. That is why I wound up on this thread.
    1) In Illustrator:
    Edit > Preferences > File Handling & Clipboard
    2) Uncheck "Enable Version Cue" (if it is already unchecked, this is okay, that is how mine was)
    3) Go into Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer)
    Program Files > Adobe > Adobe Illustrator CS3 > Support Files > Contents > Windows
    4) In this folder is a sub folder called "Version Cue." Rename "Version Cue" to something else like "OLD Version Cue".
    5) You can now save files in Illustrator (may require relaunch of Illustrator).
    ***NOTE***
    From one of the above posts I found that to keep from having to kill Illustrator every time it freezes on save (pre-fix) hold down "Alt+F4" to close the invisible "Save as" window that is locking things up.
    If the above does not work, try some of the other things I did which I do not believe made a difference, but just in case:
    1) Choose a valid, online printer
    2) Close other programs
    3) Restart your computer
    4) Trash the old Illustrator preferences (Documents and Settings > (your login) > Application Data > Adobe > Adobe Illustrator CS3 Settings)
    5) When Illustrator freezes, hit "alt" then after hit "enter" then select "Move" from the drop down menu at the top left. Drag a whole bunch without lifting the left click button. Restart Illustrator. Repeat.

    phonon got updated to version 4.7 recently.
    unfortunately, on my box gstreamer backend got dramatically worse, with random crashes during playback.
    adding the same old bugs, it really is in bad state. :\

  • [solved] Amarok 2.2.1 and mysql 5.1.40 incompatible

    Hi,
    my packages are all up-to-date.
    I remark a strange behavior with amarok : I cannot delete a track anymore from my collection. When I right click on a track it has a menu item 'copy to collection' (?). This item is normally only shown for a CD track that you can rip and add to your collection. Also in the 'track details' window the field 'location' is empty. If I however click on the button next to it, it opens up the correct directory in dolphin.
    I already filed two bugs with kde bugzilla and I got promptly the reply that they can not reproduce this error. Even more release 2.2.1 had no fixes in either of theses features.
    I assume that the upgrade of mysql causes all this.
    How to fix this ?
    versions of packages :
    amarok : 2.2.1-2
    mysql and libmysqlclient : 5.1.41-3
    Last edited by Strider (2009-11-22 20:42:51)

    I solved this by deleting (after backup) all my config files from Amarok, restarting and re-importing my whole collection.

  • [SOLVED] Amarok 2.1 final weirdness

    I upgraded to amarok 2.1 today and when I start the player I get this kind of screen:
    If I try to add an applet to the context view I just get a an green arrow and a red X
    and when I press the arrow Amarok crashes (nothing happens when I press the X)
    This with fresh profile and with an old one. I tried a SVN build from yesterday
    and the official pkg from extra. Anyone else having the same problem?

  • [SOLVED] Amarok won't build a collection

    Hey all -
    Just got Amarok installed, but I can't get it to scan my drive for a collection.
    I've told it where to scan for it under preferences (and yes, it's scanning recursively), and it remembers that okay, but then when it goes to actually scan the location it chills for a couple seconds at 0%, and then just gives up.
    I'm using the default SQLite database.
    Anyone have any ideas?

    Okay... well, after talking with other people using Arch, trying to get help in #archlinux and #amarok, and having no success, I just restarted my computer and it worked.

    Thank you! Finally it works. Yet I am wondering why this package is not a dependency for amakor? Sure amarok can work without it, but... it will be most unusual usage.  It could be optional dependency at least.

    It is solved.
    I remember that I installed Mathematica and changed the path of library in .bashrc:
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/mathematica/SystemFiles/Libraries/Linux-x86-64:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    There may be some conflict. When I change it to
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/opt/mathematica/SystemFiles/Libraries/Linux-x86-64
    Everything is OK.

    Same problem here - also for kalarm. Now I will probably oversleep tomorrow.
    Well, another file format could solve that problem...

  • [solved --kind of] tint2 crashes on start

    Tint2 panel keeps crashing when I try to start it. I had been using pypanel recently but decided to switch. Here's the error I get when I run it from my terminal:
    [neruson@megatron ~]$ tint2
    real transparency on... depth: 32
    tint2 : nb monitor 1, nb monitor used 1, nb desktop 4
    Segmentation fault
    [neruson@megatron ~]$
    I'm not really sure what's causing this, but I was editing the tint2rc file before I started it, so I'm assuming it's a syntax error.. Here's my tint2rc if it helps:

    Solved-ish I uninstalled tint2 and then installed the tint2-svn from the aur. It's working now

    Damn .
    Big thanks, it was typo in bashrc:
    . $HOME/.bashrc
    instead of
    . $HOME/.bash_profile
